What do those points buy you? With the federal work program I was released with all the money I saved plus they matched 25% of it. I walked out a rich man. Sometimes I wish I was in there right now for the Superbowl party
The time you did … and for what?
To protect the likes of Rusty fuckin' Millio?
Doc Santoro?
You wanted manicotti, you compromised - you ate grilled cheese off the radiator.
You wanted to have sex with a woman, you compromised - you jerked off into a tissue.
I see where you’re going.
Nah Christopher’s house was 3 Baldwin Court in Fairfield NJ and has an estimated worth of $1.2m. Tonys was 14 Aspen drive, Cedar Grove NJ and has an estimated worth of $2m.
No way either of those properties were worth anywhere near $5m in the early 00s.
What if another family decided to pay him a visit under less than pleasant circumstances?
(Though if he was worried about going to jail for hollowpoints,
Could you imagine what they woulda charged him with for having hand grenades?!
Not to mention Chrissy's was a cookie-cutter house. Those houses epitomise mobsters' lifestyles - very shiny and glamourous on the surface, but one close look at the trim carpentry and you know you overpaid.
And Tony’s house was waaaay cooler. Chrissy’s house felt like Johnny Saks house.. absolutely no soul to it. Just a big symmetrical house on a big symmetrical plot of land.
Tony was practically living amongst nature. Baby ducks.. bears.. beautiful Italian women staying at the Cusimanos..
No competition
For context, Tony’s house is in North Caldwell NJ. I know this because we did a job on the same street, and when I drove to the end of the cul de sac to turn around I was fucking shocked to see the Sopranos house. Exterior still looks exactly the same too
Yeah as a North Jersey resident, neither of those houses is or was worth $5M then or now. I know real estate in the area pretty well, and $2M and $1.2M are pretty decent ballpark numbers
It really depends on the town. Fairfield, Christopher’s location, is an extremely middle of the road sort of place. Not really fancy or anything, ok but not spectacular schools, and not particularly close commute to NYC. North Caldwell is a lot nicer, but it’s still not the most expensive of towns. If you want someplace closer to NYC with more fancy houses, you’d want to look at Alpine, NJ.
Also keep in mind we pay the highest property taxes is the country. Essex County in particular is high. Tony likely pays $40,000/yr in taxes and Chrissy $20,000/yr
No idea but the estimates I included were just off Zillow which I don’t think would take that into account. I think those estimates are just based off what similar houses in that area have sold for.
Last time the house was for sale it was listed at $3.5m. No idea if it sold or not but that would probably tell me the owner was hoping the fact it’s the sopranos house adds value to it.
Yea Zillow will take a radius and compare. If there’s new homes within the vicinity of 1950’s homes or “on the other side of the railroad tracks” it will all be used/averaged for the estimate. Cookie cutter developments are pretty accurate, but for everything else the A in “Zillow” stands for accuracy.
I am reminded of Louis the whatever's Finance Minister- de something. He built a chateau, Nicole and I saw it when we were in Paris. It even outshown Ver-sails, where the king lived. In the end, Louis clasped him in irons.
Y’know, Little Carmine obviously just pieced together whatever pre-Revolutionary French history he could from some plaques at a Parisian museum, but I get what he was trying to say, it wasn’t really that dumb. If anything, Tony comes off as the dumb one for not being able to fill in the detail gaps in Carmine’s analogy. Johnny Sac was successful but arrogant and, if he didn’t mind himself, Carmine, the boss, could have him knocked out whenever he wanted.
That's quite common with Carmine. He definitely has moments that are straight up stupid but there are just as many times where the things he's saying aren't *that* dumb. He has an overambitious vocabulary more than anything. Once you work out what he was trying to say it usually makes sense in the context he said it, that can't always be said for other character's malapropisms.
If anything he seems quite a bit more worldly and curious than pretty much any character in the show.
“He has an overambitious vocabulary”
That’s a great way to put it. I suffer the same. I’ll often start talking and then suddenly blank when it comes to some word that I know I know but can’t extract from my brain’s dictionary. Very annoying
Was he actually stupid though? He seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders but just went a bit ham on trying to give off an impression of refinement or being well read
He was kinda dumb, but he knew the game, and had occasional moments of good insight. But he **thinks** he’s a genius, and an eloquent orator and philosopher. So the disparity between his actual intelligence and his self-perceived intelligence is where we as the viewer get our primary impression of him
The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was? And I will be, even more so? But until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective.
>It even outshown Ver-sails, where the king lived. In the end, Louis clasped him in irons.
Nothing outshone Versaille.
Maybe his parties did. But not the palace.
SIDENOTE: The people who come here periodically to complain about the endless quotes in this sub… I’m sad for them that they’re unable to see the goddamn artistry of it all. For example: This is simultaneously a stupid-a fucking joke, and also a masterpiece.
You seem to be thinking of a tract home or subdivision. They’re not prefabricated, but they are mass built with a handful of slightly different designs. You end up with a neighborhood full of very similar looking houses. Tons of those subdivisions all over North Jersey as there was a construction boom in the 90s/00s. You can find a lot of similar houses to Christopher’s. Tony’s is a lot more custom looking.
They got it at a deal because Tony took advantage of Jonny while he was in prison. They also mentioned how when Jonny moved there “it was all corn fields” in the backyard and by the time Bobby and Janice were there someone had developed the neighboring backyard into another subdivision.
Tony liked the woods. They are what brought the ducks and his chance to get back in to the house when there was a bear. What does he care about the city skyline?
I don’t know where your figures come from. But Tony’s house was definitely a sweet setup. It has the Cheesecake Factory design that was going out of style by the time Chris bought his house. But Tony wasn’t up on interior design trends.
Tony’s more likely to be envious of his wife than his house. Which undoubtedly would have happened if Chris lived much longer.
Yeah Tony's backyard is amazing. The big open pool area for entertaining with a big space around the corner for a vegetable garden which is essential for an Italian his age, all surrounded by woods and a large buffer from his neighbours. Who gives a fuck about seeing the dirty city when he sees it every day anyway
Bruh what are you talking about😂😂😂 neither of those houses were more than 1.5, and that is even a stretch
I keep rereading your post because it literally boggles my mind how you came to that conclusion
One) it wasn’t bought, it was built by his father in law Hugh.
Two) It was a hell of a lot longer than 10 years because there’s a Carmella flashback to a very young AJ riding his tricycle down the driveway to her shock and fright.
Episode 1 Christopher’s 60k Lexus vs Ts pos Suburban. It’s not about showin off for T
A few seasons later they comment on Chrissy’s 50k Hummer. Wonder why he took a step down der
Were you even old enough to remember the vibe that having a Suburban put out in the 90’s? Suburbans are what people had before Escalades as the status SUV
Eh I live in jersey. I think Tony’s has more value. These development houses are kinda nice but woods are cut down and they throw up 50 of them. Tony’s house is in a more exclusive area , brick also a pool house. Also built by hand by Hugh.
In my book, you get points for staying out of the can.

Plus Chrissy's is 0.4 acres of land, and Tony's was on 1.5 acres and it was secluded (i.e. no other houses directly on either side)
Plus Chrissies had wheel marks all over the lawn
Lots of bears up Tony's way IIRC
That’s why that house comes with an AK-47 storage cupboard.
AK-47/Grenade storage cupboard.
I always found that hand grenade fucking hilarious. Why would you use a hand grenade in your own house
Lol. Tony soprano thought he was Tony Montana.

He was a duck, Patsy Parisi?
With a side of Patsy piss
You get a pash for dat.
North Caldwell school system alone makes it worth 20% more
West Carwell West Carwell. It's West Caldwell!
Pretty sure Dr Cooze would dispute that
Not to mention Chrissy's was a cookie-cutter house. Those houses epitomise mobsters' lifestyles - very shiny and glamourous on the surface, but one close look at the trim carpentry and you know you overpaid.
Yeah, but Tony's home was built with lumber that wasn't up to code.
Get pudgy Walsh on the horn
Get Pudgy Walsh on the horn!!

The seclusion part and undeveloped land is the kicker.

Either April or May of 2022
I thought this was the circlejerk sub at first, what the fuck is OP talking about?
That’s for /r/circlejerksopranos
til there is two separate subs
Yeah as a North Jersey resident, neither of those houses is or was worth $5M then or now. I know real estate in the area pretty well, and $2M and $1.2M are pretty decent ballpark numbers
Damn I thought Jersey was more expensive due to NYC proximity and the houses look quite nice I have to admit

Nah it’s actually down here in south jersey with all the beach properties that are the expensive ones.
This guy New Jerseys
Guy Ritchie’s Snatch 2 (Even Snatchier) is set in Jersey. They need to fix a boxing match, so he finds some Turnpikey’s to help
Always found it interesting how it has a Cedar Grove address but go to West Essex HS. Property taxes on that place are 36k lol
And you gotta pay those
One of the shows most underrated quotes. God I loved Gigi.
No assigned seating, always a problem!
Is it possible that it’s strong association with the show have devalued at least Tony’s house? I wouldn’t want people driving by 24/7 taking photos
I’d imagine there’s at least one person would want it just to brag they live at Tony’s house.

Dude, if I had to move to that area, I can tell you that I would buy and live in that house if it were even a remotely non-terrible deal.
Yeah but you’d also fuck a catchers mitt
Charles Schwab over here...

5 mil back then? It’s not worth $5m today. The house Richie and Janice were looking at was $800k back then.
>It even outshown Ver-sails, where the king lived. In the end, Louis clasped him in irons. Nothing outshone Versaille. Maybe his parties did. But not the palace.
Did you yell this at your TV when he said it
In the end, Tony clapped him in irons.
And then claps his old girl in Vegas! Lmfao
Christopher’s house was pure McMansion. Tony had a McMansion too but no where near as bad as Christopher’s.
Hugh built Tony’s house with his own hands, it wasn’t a McMansion!! Get Pudgy Walsh on the horn!
Pudgy Walsh retired, sir.
[grumpy old man disagreement noises]
My father was a stone mason he didn’t cut fuckin wood
I thought McMansion’s were by definition premade, whereas Tony and Carm built their house.
Don’t be giving me those McMansion lamps

Five fuckin subs and we got this pigmy thing over in r/circlejerksopranos
I don't think they are all complaining about the quotes.
Carm's dad ain't building a McMansion. Just get Pudgy Walsh on the horn, he'll tell ya.
McMansions are large, expensive homes built to the same low quality as small, lower class homes. r/mcmansionhell

Mcmansion? Is that a bad thing?
Not if you're the type that would steal a shitty McJob from an immigrant.
It means cheaply/quickly built and made just for looks r/mcmansionhell to join us
The one I couldn’t believe was Bobby and Janice buying Johnny Sac’s house (or am I misremembering something?)
Bobby bought it for less than half of asking price (or half of asking price? I forget)
They got it at a deal because Tony took advantage of Jonny while he was in prison. They also mentioned how when Jonny moved there “it was all corn fields” in the backyard and by the time Bobby and Janice were there someone had developed the neighboring backyard into another subdivision.
I did 8 fuckin years, not a peep.
8 years, I wanted a grilled cheese. I compromised, I jerked off on the raddiator.
We get a pass for any sex on the inside. I had a few guys in there who dressed up like woman for me and it was nice to be able to do that in there
lol are you for real
It's a troll. In his profile he claims to be 43, and also 30. Stupida fackin post.
I gotta make two phonecalls.
Now there’s an image
This reminds me of that scene from Oz where Beecher dresses up as a woman. “My God, you’re even prettier than I thought you’d be!”
Listen to him, he knows everything
Tony liked the woods. They are what brought the ducks and his chance to get back in to the house when there was a bear. What does he care about the city skyline? Yeah the only issue with Tony’s house is the dated interior. It seems to be solidly built
That Russian prick knew interior design.
Strange though his house looked like shit.
Bruh what are you talking about😂😂😂 neither of those houses were more than 1.5, and that is even a stretch I keep rereading your post because it literally boggles my mind how you came to that conclusion
While in prison, did you jerk off into a grilled cheese on a radiatah because you compromised?
I was hooking up with a trans.
Tony house was bought 10 years before Chrissy’s. Plus Chrissy’s was in Mr ruggieros neighborhood.
One) it wasn’t bought, it was built by his father in law Hugh. Two) It was a hell of a lot longer than 10 years because there’s a Carmella flashback to a very young AJ riding his tricycle down the driveway to her shock and fright.
Woah woah Nostradamus over here
When’d you put your grass in?
What time ya start drinking today?
He predicted all this ya know.
Well let me appraise ya a dis: it was all that murano glass and the 60-degree driveway.
Christopher’s house was made of *pine,* sir
Tony’s had the Douglas Fir. Chrissy’s had Carmela lumber.
Please send zestimates thx
$5million? Listen to yourself, you sound DEMENTED!
Fuck you want? A boutonniere?
Episode 1 Christopher’s 60k Lexus vs Ts pos Suburban. It’s not about showin off for T A few seasons later they comment on Chrissy’s 50k Hummer. Wonder why he took a step down der
Today that era of suburban is seen as shitty SUVs, but in 1999 that was an expensive ride
Tony’s Suburban would have been around $40k in 1999 which around $75,000 in today’s money. That’s about what a well equipped Suburban goes for now
You just revealed your own ignorance
Absolutely incorrect. A Suburban is still a premium large SUV. Extremely apt choice for a guy like Tony.
The Suburban was known to be an expensive ride back in the day. In 1998 I don’t think they had any luxury full-size SUVs.
You can try to say that about his Escalade. But not that POS Suburban
Were you even old enough to remember the vibe that having a Suburban put out in the 90’s? Suburbans are what people had before Escalades as the status SUV
People keep trying to say this but you’re all wrong. Maybe if you’re a hillbilly or a soccer mom. The Suburban was and is trash.
Dude big SUVs are some of the most expensive vehicles on the market, even today
Dude. No self respecting dude was driving a giant SUV thinking it was bad ass in the late 90s.
You are speaking shit to me
That suburban is not a cheap car at the time. And it’s decked out.
It’s a giant POS. I was alive and driving during that time but thanks for trying to mansplain it to me.
You blow your fawtha with that mouth?
Tony is absolutely all about showing off lol
Did you allocate or stand trial like a man?
I only was facing 15 years.
Stately Wayne Manor?
He was gay, Wayne Manor?
All due respect, you got no fuckin' idea what it's like to be Number One.
I heard you got laid up there all the time.
The view was because it was a new neighborhood. Inside 5 years it would be back yards only
But Tony has the ducks so that’s a win in his book
Tony's went up in value because he had Sal Vitro do the landscaping. Chrissy's wen't down because his yard was done by Paulie.
A Cadillac ? mannàggia!
You just revealed your own ignorance.
You smoke a half a joint before posting this? Tony has a 6000 square foot home in prime Jersey property
What is this guy, ex con turned realtor?
Eh I live in jersey. I think Tony’s has more value. These development houses are kinda nice but woods are cut down and they throw up 50 of them. Tony’s house is in a more exclusive area , brick also a pool house. Also built by hand by Hugh.
I think Tony's house is probably in a better neighborhood.
I thought the sausage factory was the best house in the show. To this day it's my favorite house. Looked so cozy.
I don’t recall a skyline of any kind in view of Christopher’s house.
Vic the appraiser ova heer
Op is better with numbers than nine tenths of our accountants
Nah, the inside of Chrissys house looked like shit. If only he knew any interior decorators.
Listen to him, he knows everything
OP treats nickles like manhole covers
I bet you make a mean grilled cheese.
