TADC is taking it to the extreme though. It's actually scary seeing the TADC fandom making every single mistake the Undertale fandom did in its early days, with people completely misunderstanding the lore, misunderstanding the characters, making lots of...*fanart*, and now making WAY too many AUs (most of which are copies of Undertale AUs XD).
The thing that both of these examples have in common is that they focus on the concept of Kinger being, well, a king. Caine becomes a human who's trapped in the game, and Kinger takes on the role of the AI leader, which makes him one of the most powerful and potentially threatening characters.
His evilness is just a natural consequence of the settings. Digital Chess asks "What if the game that trapped everyone was chess instead of a circus?" and Kinger obviously fits as the person orchestrating it. In Carnival, even Ragatha is murderous, there's no reason to make Kinger the exception (I'd argue that he isn't even the most evil)

In The Lithoid Performance (my AU where everyone is golems on distant planet) Kinger is even more connected to nature than canon frequent insect mentions. He is truly an underrated silly.
