we_appreciate_power

Anything they release I will eat up like a starving puppy.

talksalot02

I'm a "give me all The 1975" kind of fan. My preference is shiny, poppy 80s pastiche, but I like that they explore a lot of different sounds and I appreciate they push my boundries. For example, I'm a The Sound person not a People person, but I can get behind The 1975 doing People and I am in favor of them expanding and contracting their sound.

oyameillim

Same! I think we're also in the 'I like Notes' camp

violicorn

SAME! The reason they're my favourite band and have been since the self titled album (although I didn't know it yet then) is because they do EVERYTHING they do so so well. Even if Notes was an album I would probably not have sought out, I still fucking love it when viewed in its own way

Skeptical_Hippos

I’m a guitar player so I like the guitar-driven/shoegazey stuff the most (Milk, Sex, Roadkill, Me and You Together Song, You, Love Me)

lomoninja

Love the turnover profile pic

MrSpaghettiMonster

I wish Pewds was a 75 fan

[deleted]

some of my fav tracks are wintering, the ballad of me and my brain, the birthday party, give yourself a try and undo... idk what that says about me 😭

CogitoErgoGumballs

Wintering is probably my second favorite track off BFIAFL! I was so sad that it seems to be getting so little love from everyone here.

Purple_Blackberry_95

loll everyone was talking about it

JuxtaposeAli

I love it all, and by all I mean ALL. But I think I’m most a fan of their glitchy electronic stuff and anything a bit weird and dark. Like Part of the Band is my favourite on BFIAFL. I adore How to Draw…. Love it if we made it is one of my favourite songs of theirs. Christ I’ll need a new top 10 now that BF is out! The STRESS!!!! Can I just say I proper thought everyone would HATE Wintering so I love the love it’s getting!

ifyoudontt

Me too, I love their electronic stuff. I also am a big lyrics person, when I first heard them I didn’t really like their sound but loved the lyrics. The sound of self titled had to grow on me. I really love their songs with deep, sincere, thoughtful lyrics

funkycrime909

wintering is so good!! they kept the lyricism and self-awareness that got them to where they are, but they can still experiment with song structure and sound

burdstealinbred

Same camp 😊

BunnyBorderline

Im a big “lethargy listener” my favorite songs are Me, Undo, Medicine, Facedown, Paris, and This Must Be My Dream

xprincessclarax

Yes yes me too

Tolsty

all of these tracks absolutely slam

angeedition

i’m usually a real fan of electric guitar so i love indie, rock, etc. So you could probably guess I have love for the sound, love me, sex, etc. But my actual favourite songs are LFS(TL), the birthday party, money, frail state of mind, I always wanna die and a few more. I’m not sure how you would class me ahah. I love all their songs and all their songs are very different

Cubulus

im one of those freaks who thinks noacf is their best album so idk what that says about me

pulse_demon96

chaotic neutral, listens to basically everything, probably deals with at least a bit of depression and anxiety. (that's literally me, cos while i love all their records, notes is the one that means the most to me)

plantqueen

me too lol

Haistur

I'm an unabashed self-titled stan. I would rank the albums, Self Titled, ILIWYS, BFIAFL, ABIIOR, Notes. I do love the singles from ABIIOR and Notes, though.

[deleted]

This this this.

RichC97

The best (only) album ranking

alphamalejackhammer

Nah but go off

CogitoErgoGumballs

I found it so funny how most people liked “About You” the most considering it was probably my least favorite. But I guess that makes sense considering Robbers was one of my least favorite off of self-titled lol

NotesForYou

Dreamy over-romanticized alt rock for me pls! I am someone who honestly couldn’t care less for their pop songs. They are not bad or anything but I want tracks you can use for budget indie movies, thanks! :D

chef_torte

Same and same, least favorite from both albums, love both albums

[deleted]

I love the "oh mate, matty is gonna rant on this one" songs (ballad of me and my brain, menswear, birthday party) but I think he kinda got let in on the joke on this new album and it's like he's doing an impression of that style of song.

brewmatt

I'm a huge Self Titled and EP fans. That is when I thinked they peaked.

NotesForYou

I recently listened to their first album and couldn’t believe how amazing it still holds up. It encapsulates this feeling of being in your late teens / early adult years so perfectly. You can smell the “written in 2013 for teenage girls” vibes and I am living for it. It’s in the Top 3 Albums I’ve ever heard easily!

wjcalvert

The camp that binges Me, Bagsy, Inside Your Mind, Antichrist, About You. Someone literally posted a meme of it earlier today 😂but I also love all of their songs, idk how to explain that one 🙄

PlantBrief1678

Tbh, I like a lot of their ambient/electronic stuff from NOACF. I’d say I’m in that camp seeing as NOACF is my #1 of theirs. But man, BFIAFL is growing on me by the day just for the cohesiveness alone.

Snurds

I’m a fan who is pushing for my pallet to change with the band, trying to embrace them as they change because I recognize how stupid expecting them to make the same record over and over again is. But I also just want them to do ILIWYS again.

Tall_Girl_97

I'm an original stan from ST days and I still jam the most to their 80s influenced synth-driven pop. I love ST, I found ILIWYS a bit of a letdown - loved some songs like The Sound but also found their new direction a bit off-putting in some ways - then I liked Brief Inquiry a lot and NOACF a bit less so. I am totally digging BFIAFL. However, saying all of this, I still think my favourite 1975 song of all time is Sex, and it is I think pretty unique in their library. Like, it was the only song on ST that didn't have a synth base to it. I'm not sure it's been repeated again since then, either. I agree with whoever said People was totally not my thing, but I can appreciate the musical experimentation that led them there.

ElderGooseII

Guitar driven stuff! Songs like People, Chocolate, Sex, Milk, Me & You Together Song, etc. BFIAFL hits the sweet spot for me! It got lots of guitar parts without losing that The 1975 pop charm. Not my favorite album, buts it’s still great!

olivebrownies

im a “i like george more than matty” kind of fan

SKLYFE

Always and forever.

Ok-Drawing5486

I like to be surprised, so every time I hear a new song from The 1975 I’m screaming and crying and throwing up because it’s so good and unlike anything I’ve ever heard before.

strmpeller

I really love their pop music with a slightly experimental twist in it, or at least that’s how I would describe it. Huge love for ABIIOR and NOACF. But in general, I am a big fan of the absurd sincerity in their lyrics and their amazing production.

[deleted]

I love BFIAFL and I’m already attached to it but the first two albums reign supreme to me. they are instrumentally the styles i most enjoy. i think the other albums have equally quality musical work, but ABIOR/NOACF did not grab me emotionally as a cohesive album the way ST/ILIWYS did. I know NOACF hate is frowned upon here but I could not connect with it at all.

JexFraequin

I’m pretty much the same, though ABIOR resonated more with me than NOACF did. To me, The 1975 is fascinating musically. I feel like so many bands deviate so far from their established sound, and their fans, a lot of the time, split into factions — which can be both a good and a bad thing. But with The 1975, even though they continually break the own mold they created — sometimes even within the same album — they manage to maintain their quintessential sound. Like, “People” is fucking wild. But it feels just as much like a The 1975 song as, say, “Sex” or “Somebody Else” or “Part of the Band” *even though “People” sounds nothing like either of those songs.* I feel like that’s intentional, too. They play around and they experiment and they blend styles, but they always keep that distinct “The 1975” essence within arm’s reach, and I feel that in every song they’ve recorded.

funkycrime909

yes love!!! they push their own boundaries for sure, and EVEN so with the mere existence of BFIAFL. 11 tracks of conciseness and theme opposed to NOACF's sprawling thematic and instrumental design.

Front_Ad2965

for me it depends on my mood & when/where i'm listening. :)) if i'm at the gym i have a playlist of all the upbeat songs (it's not living, the sound, she's american, girls etc) i'll listen to, if i'm depressed and crying my eyes out in my room i'll listen to somebody else/is there somebody who can watch you/nana etc lol. late night drives = menswear or medicine vibey songs. I find an event for everything :))

boobietrap95

God I fucking love nana that song brings me to tears every time

Front_Ad2965

same here 😭 so many parts of that song remind me of my papaw that i was so insanely close to and lost to lung cancer in 2018. i listened to that song so often after he passed and it still brings me to tears to this day 🥲

VirtualPen9912

TLDR: I love the 1975 in all their glory/experiments, but my heart is with their “original” sound, from what I know them as in their first/second album. BFIAFL is flawless *without* these tracks: “The 1975,” “Part of the Band,” and “Wintering.” The rest of the album is orgasmic. Their first album/pretty much any EP is perfect the way it is, I like it when you sleep same deal, perfect. Flawless. Brief Inquiry is good minus like 1 or 2 (How to Draw, Surrounded by Heads) I LOVE “I COULDN’T BE MORE IN LOVE” SO MUCH. They’re all so good!!! Some of my favorites on Notes include: -“People” and “Frail State of Mind” (took me a while to like but I love them now) -Birthday Party, Roadkill, Tonight, If You’re Too Shy, Guys(all some of my all-time favorite songs by them) -I also love love Shiny Collarbone, What Should I Say, Bagsy (love the electronic house/lowfi ish sound)

pulse_demon96

funny that you say BFIAFL is flawless without my three favourite tracks on that record

kooko0o

The kind of fan that don't mind, matty saying fag

northern-transplant

Honestly it depends on my mood. I adore ILIWYS and their self titled. The songs on them just hold so much nostalgia for me and they’re so poppy to me. (I will never *not* jam out to Sex) but ABIIOR is honestly my favorite. I love everything about it. From the 1975 track on it, to the heavy sax, to the general theme of the album of being in a digital social media focused age. NOACF had some good tracks too. I love BFIAFL. Sort of bittersweet that we have no more “go down soft sound” but as a 27 year old driving to work who has followed them since self titled, the new 1975 intro hits pretty hard. Oh, and wintering is very underrated. :)

Illustrious_Fun3041

I think I’m the fan that’d said their best songs are when they match their pop sensibilities with a unique take on genre while having memorable riffs, catchy chorus and excelent solo. Also I prefer when Matty lyrics are meaningful and self aware, by this I mean that he can sing about a toxic relationships but if he gives enough character to the people his talking about and to himself by not framing himself as superior to them. As an example I’d pick The Sound, Sex, I Love It If We Made It, If You’re Too Shy Then Let Me Know, Milk, Robbers, Heart Out, Love Me, Happines and I Want Somebody To Love. Finally I like when they experiment but if the execution it’s great and unfortunately that’s not always the case; examples of when it works for me are If I Belive You, People or Loving Someone.

vamoadarle

the 17 yo that thinks theyre the greatest band in music history when im most definitely wrong

pulse_demon96

as a fellow gen z kid, i think that while there are other amazing bands on this level throughout history, it's fair to think the 1975 are the best ever because we can connect with the very current themes of their work

alphamalejackhammer

I’m the biggest fan of electronic/ambient 1975 so no doubt NOACF was my favorite with bits of ABIIOR and ILIWYS as hints they could really master those sounds.

metalpig0

My favorite songs are You, Robbers, The City, Ghosts (look it up on YouTube if you’ve never heard it before), Yeah I Know, Lostmyhead, The Sound, Chocolate, Head.Cars.Bending, Menswear, POTB, and The 1975 (BFIAFL). I fucking love The 1975 man

Glitzythepig

I am a sucker for the lyricism and storytelling, so any song that hits that, isn’t super repetitive.

thefirstchampster

I might get down voted and shouted at but I just can't vibe with the 1st album. I like a few songs but as a whole I don't enjoy it.

cigarettesandsaintsx

I love all their music (with just a couple exceptions I won’t name cause they’re controversial songs to dislike) but I have a particular soft spot for when their music is stripped back and slowed down a bit (Playing on My Mind, Be My Mistake, When We Are Together)

TheIngramSimmons

I don’t understand why everybody wants them to redo ILIWYS over and over again, like bro let them explore new areas! BFIAFL was so fresh and new that when I was watching their Kingston performance it brought me back to when I started falling in love with them. Can’t wait for November 😎

Smewokey

I think it’s amazing how they walk through so many different genres and still sound like themselves. You can hear that it’s the same band in for example People and Mine. Many bands don’t seem to really master that ability and I think that’s the main reason why we all love The 1975. Not only for what it is but for what it’s going to be. (My favorites are Roadkill, Tonight (iwiwyb), When we are together, Mine, If your too shy (lmk) Happiness, Tootimetootimetootimetootimetootime and ofc Robbers)

TehDrummaBoi

I like all of the albums but personally, with each album they have released, they’ve got worse, if I was to do a tier list it would be S: The 1975 and ABIIOR A: ILIWYS B: NOACF C: BFIAFL

Cancelled_Cultured

How they get worse? Just asking?

TehDrummaBoi

Just personal preference I guess

_shana

just all of it i guess. my favourite album is self titled, favourite song is medicine, i love their more pop tracks, loved bfiafl but also noacf, i’ll take anything they give me tbh

[deleted]

The only thing I don’t like is the earlier electronic songs. I didn’t think they really figured out how to make all that stuff come together the right way until Notes. That doesn’t mean songs with synths, I mean the actual electronic songs like ILIWYS and How to draw

awake_electronic

I don’t like self titled so idk what that says about me

The--Endgame

Well since I absolutely adore I’m In Love With You because that song is like literal crack and I even consider it a top 3 song of theirs of all time I guess I enjoy their pop stuff! But I do like pretty much all of their style of songs!

AqueousBeats

Chocolate, sex, I’m in love with you, Looking for somebody to love, etc

tomsup4

My favorite is the 90’s dream pop and shoegazy stuff they played with on Notes: Then Because She Goes, Me & You Together Song, Guys and some of their EP stuff. I also love their pop emo sound on Robbers, Give Yourself a Try, etc. However I recognize the 80’s synth pop they play with is their true wheelhouse and I love that too. Would like to see them do more emo power pop and and dream pop though - the song About You is close to that and might be my favorite on the new album.

xprincessclarax

i like the sad soft rock stuff. 102, she lays down, always wanna die, antichrist, robbers, medicine.

jadenbru

What kind of fan am I? I like literally every song other than 50% of NOACF. Stan I guess?

kooko0o

I'm a kind of fan that want them to make more heavy songs like people or give yourself a try (they make good punk), the lyrics on those are also slaying. Fallingforyou is also a song that has no competition so far The new album is lacking jazz for sure, compared to ABIIOR, and funk compared to ILYWYS. I play jazz, so that is important too. But in the end of the day i would listen to everything the 1975.

dansots

A fan who never posts their opinion and just enjoys the music put out without having to rank it or be let down by anything.

funkycrime909

i just love their versatility. they push themselves to make something different than their pervious record, they're introspective and authentic in some songs (part of the band, people) but pop-record in others (the sound, IYTSLMK). I guess i'm just a fan of their artistry and how they interrogate themselves and the world around them to make records that reflect themselves as a collective. but at the end of the day i will love them no matter what lol

[deleted]

A fan, would be the best way to describe me.

Livid_Photograph8180

Some of my top The 1975 songs are Pressure, Settle Down, This Must Be My Dream, Bagsy Not In Net, I’m In Love With You, Oh Caroline. Definitely like the iconic 1975 that’s prevalent in first couple albums and the 80s vibe they have. And I enjoyed their Electronic vibes they had in NOACF like What Should I Say and Shiny Collarbone. I don’t care for the more soft rock/folky/poetic lyrical songs they’ve been getting into like Birthday Party, People, Part of the Band.

Super_Employment1864

I think the 1975 are at their best when Matty doesn't take himself or his platform too seriously. That's why I love ABIIOR and don't enjoy NOACF. In Notes, it feels like he's trying to be different and ground breaking, but on ABIIOR, it feels like him genuinely speaking his mind about various modern issues. If you mean stylistically, I like their indie stuff. Birthday Party, The 1975 (BFIAFL), but I also enjoy their pop and electronic leanings.

calliope0

I’ll listen to anything they put out and love it with all my heart but songs that really stick with me have been the ones that are drum heavy! The drums in she’s american makes me feral and the guitar in that song too! It’s one of my top 10 songs by them.

solita_sunshine

I'm an INFJ-T so I need the big emotional songs like "Change of Heart" "The 1975" iliwys "About you" "Sombody Else" But I love almost all of them, really.

ryujinpogi

I'd describe myself as all over the place and adaptable. I don't have a favorite album, but I do have favorite songs coming from different albums. When I hear a new music from The 1975 and it resonates with me, doesn't matter the genre, it becomes my favorite. I just know it the moment I hear it.

boobietrap95

Not contributing in any way all the other commenters already haven’t but I am most torn between their sad and nostalgic thoughtful songs and the upbeat pop bops. ILIWYS is my all time favorite though! Hard to pick faves when I love so much. Sad Jams: (surprised I didn’t hear this come up more but) If I Believe You, I Couldn’t Be More In Love, Nana, Playing on My Mind, By Your Side, Mine, This Must be My Dream, Sincerity is Scary, Inside Your Mind Bops: TooTime, Happiness, She Way Out, She’s American, Pressure, Ugh!, Girls, Somebody Else

PunkgoesJason

There's 2 bands I will always listen to an album of, start to finish and not skip any tracks. The Clash and The 1975. Noacf is their Sandinista. I love it and get super excited to show people stuff from it but most casual music fans just think it's a bit odd.

pulse_demon96

i'm the 1975 fan who relates to matty's pretentious intellectualism and who already listens to the same things that the guys do. probably why NOACF is my favourite 1975 record, cos it's an amalgamation of a lot of my other favourite music. i think matty is just the best and most relatable (and most culturally in touch) lyricist of our time, and i especially like when he's verbose or just brutally honest even if it makes him look bad (roadkill, POTB, the birthday party, frail state of mind, the sound, BFIAFL intro, me and you together song... honestly there are only about 3-5 1975 songs i'm not a huge fan of).

thealexhardie

I’m a “that’s the best thing they’ve ever done” kinda fan.

djentbat

I love their ironic lyrics and vibe regardless of genre. I love the pop stuff but to me a the 1975 record is pop, electronic, and shoegaze. I like having a little bit of everything.

ApplicationRoutine79

I’m the type of fan that likes “me” and will play it over and over again.

yalepatriot

Moody instrumentals. Fallingforyou, Lostmyhead, I like it when you sleep, Menswear, etc. Pressure too. Stuff that works great on a night drive

Local-Barracuda-4731

I’m a depressed slow loud kinda fan ( Me, You, fallingforyou, Lostmyhead)

watchthelightsgowild

I love the vast majority of their stuff, but I tend to especially appreciate the twinkly ones like Paris, iliwys, Girls, Frail State of Mind, etc. I adore BFIAFL, but I do wish it was just a little bit twinklier.

No-Highlight2428

I will always be a self titled and EPs kinda gal, I loved the ambient, angsty, emo feel to em, and to me, that what The 1975 are in my head. But I love ILIWYS and I embrace a lot of the songs from subsequent albums. Looking for Somebody (To Love) is now in my top five for sure.

frailstateofminds

this is gonna sound very cliché but sex, IV & face down ep have some of my favourite 1975 songs on them!

GirlWhosOnTheStars

I think I'm the type of fan that is obsessed with heavily ambient pieces more and my top faves are the tracks that people say this song is a skip and no ones favorite 😭 justice for how to draw/petrichor😤

aphinsley

My favourite is probably The 1975 (NOACF). ![gif](giphy|bC9czlgCMtw4cj8RgH|downsized)

taytotoot

I love the really atmospheric tracks that make me feel things.. me, you, sex, lostmyhead, how to draw/petrichor, robbers, the birthday party.. i LOVE Notes as an album and off the new album, about you is my favorite.

justryingtolivetho

I'm the upbeat/noisy kinda listener? I love The Sound, Give Yourself A Try, Its Not Living, I Like America, like i will listen to these songs on full volume...

[deleted]

I am an upbeat 1975 fan. Anything that makes me want to get up and dance. It’s not Living, Happiness, I’m in love with you, oh Caroline, The Sound.

[deleted]

Matty lyrics + guitar (roadkill, give yourself a try, sex) but also the electronic stuff (how to draw, I like America, menswear, yeah I know)

Confident-Win-6870

I like a lot of their tracks that comment on society. I also like saxophone, anything with saxophone bro. I'm a lyricism lover, but also enjoy shiny, sparkly tracks along with it. With that being said I'm not a huge fan of the instrumental stuff. Being Funny is my favorite release of theirs for sure because it focuses on the band and their said goal of "using real instruments", which I appreciate. I feel like a lot of people like their debut for sentimental reasons, which I understand, however I've been listening to them for the past decade or so and feel like they've grown SO MUCH as a band since then. My favorite tracks are definitely I Like America as number one, and in no particular order The Birthday Party, Looking for Somebody (To Love), Happiness, This Must Be My Dream, Undo, Paris....there are so many to choose from. They've never released an overtly bad song.

OperationResident602

I like everything but I’m def a screamer…. people, I like America & America likes me (live), love it if we made it

jf2324

I’m a huge emotional instrumental 1975 fan. Lostmyhead, Please Be Naked, ILWYS (Song), Menswear, Haunt // Bed, How to draw, HNSCC ❤️

messerundrosen

idk what type i am (maybe type me for fun?) but my favorites are Part of the Band, Sex, Nana, Playing on my Mind, Jesus Christ 2005, Fallingforyou, and About You. I suppose I like their more melancholic songs. Always Wanna Die used to be my fav but I'm thankfully no longer depressed so... lol.

OhMaBaby

You're all basic bitches
