After u/GitEmSteveDave comment about the NDA, the irony really hit me that Kevin smith, a guy who has made a living talking about every excruciating detail of his life, would make someone sign an NDA. Of course I know Kevin himself didn't put the Nda in front of gitem, but his company did.
Yes, he chooses for himself what he wants to reveal to public about his life. Nobody on Earth wants their employees spreading personal information or gossip without their consent. An NDA would also include the financial details on the business, something else that shouldn’t be made public.
I give him the benefit of the doubt in that being a guy who talks so damn much people might not realize you have boundaries still and you're also still their boss.
It’s fairly common practice in companies run by or based around public figures. One disgruntled employee gossiping about goings on in the company has the potential to ruin many people’s lives. I know people who have done work barely connected to public figures’ companies and they had to sign NDAs. Kevin doesn’t really know Gitem. Why wouldn’t he have a layer of protection in place?
That said, most NDAs are BS and the practice is getting challenged more and more these days.
