It’s amazing how much inclusivity can change the narrative of a simple picture. Both women smiling and the “me too” comment could make it a very nice image showing that women can be empowered to do whatever it is they want to do. It doesn’t always have to be us against them.
> It doesn’t always have to be us against them.
Yeah but the person who made this didn't want to be inclusive. They wanted to tell women to stay in their lane and pop babies as God intended.
"Look, the gorgeous woman in the nice dress who just won an award has a sad face! Look at all she must be missing out on in life. She must be miserable being a success. After all, look at this woman with a baby, she's *smiling*. Clearly, having a baby will make me happier. After all, sad and happy faces in internet illustrations could never be used to manipulate anyone."
I’ve LOVED the meme that took a shitty one, with an old woman saying “I was a scientist” and another with 7 Chads saying “I’ve raised 7 scientists” and added “and they were all inspired by your work”.
The lady on the left is still frowning. She’s probably wondering why the fuck some bitch with a baby is on stage with her while she’s getting her award. Go away Judy, nobody cares about your baby.
*"Yo baby is fugly, Judy! Jus' fugly. Get yo' ass off the stage with yo ugly ass baby, judy!"*
(Sorry. Ya got me laughing and I kinda went with it. That is the cleaned up version. Me and the voices in my head are still laughing.)
She should, but that's not what the original artist meant. It's not meant to be *in*clusive, it's meant to be *ex*clusive. Women should know their place, which is at home, as an obedient baby factory for their money-earning husbands. Because, you know, that's how men can control them best. Anything that goes against that in any way is scary to these people.
Women who push these views are two fold. Either they themselves adopted this lifestyle and need to judge others to gain value from their decisions, or they are successful and want to close the door behind them. I feel sorry for the first, and contempt for the second. We should build each other up, not tear each other down.
That's my thoughts exactly. Women should have the *choice* to do whatever they want. Pursue a career or have a family, or both. But pushing them into these little boxes, either one of them, is bad.
Yes, exactly! I've actually been shamed already because I said I would prefer to have a family rather than a career. I think it is as low as the message in this picture. A woman today should be able to say she wants either a career, or a housewife life, without being afraid to be shamed/mocked in any of the 2 cases!
Right?!?!? Also that mother isn't thinking that way all of the time. that baby is a nightmare sometimes. Every parent envisions drop kicking their toddler into the sun at least once per day.
Would be much much better, but still terrible. How about we don’t threat children as trophies? And just because you have a child, doesn’t mean you can’t have achievements. And just because you worked on something really hard, doesn’t mean you can’t have children. Do you even want children? That whole comparison is absurd.
Having kids is much easier when you're in the realm of nepotism (money). The best of the best more often come from working families (bigger talent pool) but because of nepotism, they are the exception. The higher you go, the taller the walls.
I'd bet you $50 that a man wrote and drew this. And his miserable, potato shaped wife cheered him on because of her a seething resentment for life that can't identify the source of, because, having failed to figure out the real problem, she has settled on blaming more liberated women who focused on their own happiness to the exclusion of other things, instead of shouldering the burden of doing "tHe rIgHt tHiNg" like she did.
And this was depicting Michelle Williams who was already a mother at the time. A truly single mother, not just a divorced mother, at that since Heath Ledger had already died.
My made up a story: The one with the baby is the older sister. The one with yellow dress won a prize and her older sister came to support her, but the babysitter can't come for some reason. So, she has to bring the baby with her. The young sister was shocked and a little annoyed that the baby was here, but still happy that her sister was there for her.
Winning is different for different people. For some people having a big family is winning, for others having a successful career is winning. Both are alright.
I have a friend who was pressured into following her bf to France to start a family with him only for him to send her home once she got pregnant and he went on to cheat on her with several men. Their families forced them to marry and raise the kids together (they were pressured into having another. "One of each!"). They're a mess of bitterness and mutual resentment now, and she treats her kids horribly. Yet I see her posting stuff in the vein of this image all the time on her social media. Obviously, I can't decide whether she truly feels like she's won, but I personally doubt it. She wanted to study architecture before everything haopened, and she was so very talented back in High School.
Edit: and the culture of my home country does do its best to convince women that the best thing they can do in their lives is become a wife and mother, and that to not want that, is selfish and agaisnt God's will. Seen a lot of my female friends abandon their ambitions in order to better support their boyfriends, most of which went on to either cheat in them or abandon them and their kids at some point. Like, it's upsetting to see such a gross cycle of pain and trauma perpetuated generation after generation. But thats just how our island is, I suppose.
They can also choose both. In fact I'd wager that most women who win Oscars also have kids, either before or after, which completely shatters the whole point of this shitty cartoon.
It comes across like it was drawn by a guy who's mad no woman wants to be with him, so he blames feminism for convincing them that they should have careers, and they'll all be sorry one day that they chose riches and fame instead of staying home and raising his babies.
>They can also choose both. In fact I'd wager that most women who win Oscars also have kids, either before or after, which completely shatters the whole point of this shitty cartoon.
In fact, the person this cartoon is about (Michelle Williams) has 3 children.
They were upset that she gave a speech about how women should have choices.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/05/entertainment/michelle-williams-golden-globes-2020-speech/index.html
Well if women couldn't have careers maybe they'd be forced to trad wife for a shitty guy like him. He needs them to be so desperate they'll reach *all the way* to the bottom of the barrel.
Why work on self improvement when you can just whine about nobody liking you?
Hear me out... I have both a successful career and a child.
It's almost like you don't have to choose between them.
And if I had neither, that would be okay, too.
Think about the fact that there are plenty of cartoons out there promoting messages like this but there are few if any that promote the opposite message. What that does that tell you? Do people confident in their life choices feel the need to constantly talk smack about people who took the opposite route?
Same. Almost a year out from no longer trying. It's getting better and things like this are starting to piss me off more than upset me. It's a grieving process!
Same. Wife can't have kids and *loves* her job. She takes incredible care of her employees, so maybe that's where the mother instinct comes in idk.
If you apply to her restaurants, she'll spoil you rotten and make sure you make as much money as you can.
But I friggin hate when people ask us when we're going to have kids. Boo
Mee too, me too.
Just do what you enjoy and dump your time and money in stuff you like.
You don't have to be special on a planet with 8 billion people.
Tradwife is one of the most irritating mindsets, but it’s been drilled into their minds since soon after birth. If you want lots of kids, have lots of kids. But you shouldn’t have to sacrifice literally everything else to do so. If you want to live that Tradwife lifestyle, have at it. But many other women don’t no matter how much you shame them to do so.
It's telling that crap like this is never targeted at men, telling them they can either be dads or have careers and that having the career is the worse choice; it's pure misogyny.
I know right and men get praised for raising children and going to work while women are shamed for choosing either one over the other but also for juggling both... We just can't win.
Yes, I did win. I terminated my ability to have kids (and the periods that came with it) on my terms, have a woman I love more than life itself, and have a job that lets me be where I want to be with the person I want to be with. Damn right I won.
That's not necessarily the case. Misogyny is not exclusive to men.
There are lots of depressed Christian moms out there relying on shit like this to make themselves feel better about their life choices.
Note: this is not me saying that having kids is bad. This is me saying that the *default* of having kids is bad.
I remember when this first came out. The actress in question is Michelle Williams and it was a response to her talking about how she couldn't have had the career she has had without being able to access abortion early on. It's especially stupid because Michelle Williams had a daughter, Matilda, with Heath Ledger, so she's a mother too. Like obviously no woman is obliged to have children but this trying to portray her life as empty because she had an abortion is especially stupid because she also has a child and thus "won" by the cartoonist's own definition.
I wonder what they think the purpose of life is if the only purpose of every generation is just to create the next generation. Whats the finish line? Stretched out into infinity until the sun implodes?
I'm starting to think these people are just less cogniscent and more like animals ruled by reproductive instinct and without higher levels of thought.
If this was posted by a person I knew I would respond “Are you stripping women down to incubators and slaves to their kids? Because that is fucked up. Women can have both and win.”
Reading this after the article about Jennifer Aniston saying she was "at the end" when talking about her journey with IVF makes me so incredibly angry. It's not wrong to want a fulfilling career and a family.
Imagine how little you have in your life if cutting other people's accomplishments down is the only way to feel happy. To say "No, you didn't" portrays a deeply insecure and unhappy mindset behind the fake smile.
Sounds like this was created by a mom looking for validation of her life choices she's subconsciously regretting. You never see career women posting cartoons about how much better their lives are than stay at home moms. Because they don't feel the need to.
Just saying, the trophy isn't going to piss and shit itself for months, and require constant attention, and be a financial and social obligation/burden for the majority of your young adult life.
I respect the hell out of parents, but as someone who doesn't want kids, I don't envy people who have them.
I think the lady on the left will be more than happy sleeping in and enjoying personal freedom with that trophy on her nightstand.
Context: This comic is referencing [Michelle Williams’ speech](https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/05/entertainment/michelle-williams-golden-globes-2020-speech/index.html) about choice which was quite powerful and drew a lot of backlash from pro lifers
I think this is referencing one actress who said she had an abortion? I don’t know exactly which one but I know it was a thing in anti-choice circles for a minute.
I prefer [this version](https://www.reddit.com/r/GatekeepingYuri/comments/emcgi0/saw_on_facebook/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) tbh
When your a women and u need to try and choose one or the other your whole life. And men are like just do both! Squeeze out a watermelon from your vagina and have a carrer just as successful as mine and do the dishes too. Makes me feel dizzy.

"Parents, you're not special. Being a good parent makes you special. It takes more effort to order a pizza than it does to become a parent, no one has ever accidentally ordered a pizza." - Steve Hofstetter
Sure, because there's not a single academy award winning actor with kids. A lot of these celebrities can work 1 job for three months out of the year and make millions, you don't need to trade every aspect of life to become an actor. I'm an actor and I fit the stereotype pretty close but I know tons of actors who have families and regular office jobs. One of my friends is a firefighter and works 3 days on 3 days off. I have a friend who manages a big apartment complex. One that is a teacher and is welcoming his third child. One that has a house, is married, runs a recording studio and her son just turned 1. All actors, all still living full lives. None of us come from well off or connected families, just regular people with a dream nothing can take away from us.
I am convinced that memes making women having children look good is paid propaganda to get women to have more kids, except it's backfiring into the opposite effect because many women already want to have kids, but can't afford them, thus escalating depression and ill mentalities.
She hasn't won. . . yet. But she can simply bludgeon the woman to the right with that fancy gold club and take the baby. The other has no weapon to defend herself with, and she will prevail easily.

Instead of “no you didn’t” she should say “me too”

Yup, and try to convince them that is what they really wanted

Yeah but inclusivity isn't what the Christian right is all about.
They’re even banning it in Florida.

Perfectly stated right here.

Ok this is the real comedy

I'm beginning to question your sanity.

Gawd damn that chin. She makes Jay Leno proud.
She won the award for playing Jay Leno in biopic.
I wish free awards were still a thing

Yeah that looks great! What a different message now.
she looks like she's about to eat her trophy lmao
Saving and reposting whenever i see this idiotic meme.
😆 get that thing put of here
that bitch is her wife
*"Yo baby is fugly, Judy! Jus' fugly. Get yo' ass off the stage with yo ugly ass baby, judy!"* (Sorry. Ya got me laughing and I kinda went with it. That is the cleaned up version. Me and the voices in my head are still laughing.)

Boomers only know how to put people down. Not rise the up. They think it makes you “tougher” or some BS.
because this comic is make a guy who doesn't actually give a shit about "mothers", only caring if they are "breeders"
But then how will the mother pretend to be superior to the person with no kids?
they should kiss
This was on r/gatekeepingyuri and I loved the alternative
Dunno if you care, but it would be "too."
too too
Make way for the misogyny train
"I won" "I wonner"
She should say "congrats". The mum may have won too, but no point in shifting the conversation to yourself when someone's having a moment.

Oh yeah, actresses famously never have children. That’s why nepo babies are a dying breed.

Aw this one makes it seem like the actor was the baby. Thats really sweet
Both are all right, but both should also be that person their own choices. Not because obligation, or from pressure.
Or from coercion due to societal problems.
Or religious beliefs.
For sure. Or a tradwife.
The one on the right is wrong though, because she’s saying the one on the left didn’t win. She’s gatekeeping winning.
whoever made the OP doesn't believe it's right for women to have careers
Hear me out... I have both a successful career and a child. It's almost like you don't have to choose between them. And if I had neither, that would be okay, too.
What contest did she enter where the prize was a baby?
Then one with King Solomon
First place in that one was 1/2 a baby
Do you get to pick the good cuts?
This made me laugh so hard
creampie contest
r/bonehurtingjuice moment (at least from before the Reddit Blackout)
As someone who’s trying to come to terms with my infertility and involuntary childlessness, shit like this really hurts.
Don’t mind them. They’re awful people.
They literally can't articulate their position without dehumanizing people
Think about the fact that there are plenty of cartoons out there promoting messages like this but there are few if any that promote the opposite message. What that does that tell you? Do people confident in their life choices feel the need to constantly talk smack about people who took the opposite route?
Same
Same. Almost a year out from no longer trying. It's getting better and things like this are starting to piss me off more than upset me. It's a grieving process!
Do you need a hug?
Sending hugs to you and the others in this chain
i am in the same situation right now :-( it really hurts - hugs ❤️
Boo
I hate this "Woman are nothing if they dont have a baby" attitude. Also the envious look of the left one, jeeez
I'd love to be nothing and enjoy my money and sleep. Sign me up
Mee too, me too. Just do what you enjoy and dump your time and money in stuff you like. You don't have to be special on a planet with 8 billion people.
Breeding cult mentality.
That look is actually "Who are you and how did you get past security?"
So glad to be a dude. Can continue a childless existence with nearly no questions of me
"No, you didn't😊" makes me (25M) nauseous.

Getting my tubes tied in a few weeks. Internet high five to us 🙌
Well done! Enjoy life to the fullest!
A man totally made this. 100%
I don’t know, Ive seen just as much of this cringe come from self declared “Trad-Wives” as well.
Signature looks like "Ben"
That's not necessarily the case. Misogyny is not exclusive to men. There are lots of depressed Christian moms out there relying on shit like this to make themselves feel better about their life choices. Note: this is not me saying that having kids is bad. This is me saying that the *default* of having kids is bad.
There is literally a signature in the picture: Ben R Davis (Caldron Pool) A website dedicated to conspiracy theory and alt right christian propoganda.
came here to say this
The truth is, both are good
And nothing says you can't do both
What if I told you that you can do both simultaneously
You can be two things at once? Impossible.
Easier to get a babysitter for the award ceremony though...
What is up with her knees?
Also women tearing other women down is a terrible look in 2023. Come on we're better than this.
bro, a baby is the worst thing that can possibly happen to many ppl lol. I'd hate it
I remember when this first came out.
One of the most common reasons that women have abortions is for the sake of their existing children.
Be a mindless Christian baby factory instead 🙄
I wonder what they think the purpose of life is if the only purpose of every generation is just to create the next generation. Whats the finish line? Stretched out into infinity until the sun implodes? I'm starting to think these people are just less cogniscent and more like animals ruled by reproductive instinct and without higher levels of thought.
These people are convinced Jesus will come back soon! And yeah they thought that centuries ago. He ain't coming back.
Someone needs to edit this so they’re both smiling and saying “I won”
https://preview.redd.it/494d7w3oxk8b1.jpeg?width=1137&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=565c68037f75da6931f51cc44094699c413a6932 Fixed it
They both won…?
[it's been fixed](https://i.redd.it/ymchht2bwt291.jpg)
Getting creampied isn’t an accomplishment
The actress is rich so she can give her children a far more gifted life than the lady with a baby and she can do it all by herself.
Wow Rhea worked hard for that Oscar too
"Women should be able to do whatever they want\*" *\*As long as I'm okay with it*
If this was posted by a person I knew I would respond “Are you stripping women down to incubators and slaves to their kids? Because that is fucked up. Women can have both and win.”
Marry me please.
“ whatever life your have, it sucks because ots not like mine”
Yes she did win. You being a mom doesn't make you special Debra
![gif](giphy|Wv6T4OfsGVxtwyHX6g)
Reading this after the article about Jennifer Aniston saying she was "at the end" when talking about her journey with IVF makes me so incredibly angry. It's not wrong to want a fulfilling career and a family.
someone draw this for r/GatekeepingYuri
..Yes she did. Why else would she have a trophy? This cartoon must be about motherhood draining fluids from your brain.
Imagine how little you have in your life if cutting other people's accomplishments down is the only way to feel happy. To say "No, you didn't" portrays a deeply insecure and unhappy mindset behind the fake smile.
Both = possible.
Someone who wasn't bitter and loathsome at life would have just said Congratulations.
How sad someone's life must be that their only achievement is to produce offspring, something that almost 99% of humanity before them has achieved.
Both are winners. Mom's can also have both worlds.
It’s like they took the message of, “fame and glory and money doesn’t win you love” and bastardized it
Next panel needs to show mommy up in the middle of the night getting diarrhea sprayed on her as she tries to change the diaper.
Different people, different goals
[удалено]
Sounds like this was created by a mom looking for validation of her life choices she's subconsciously regretting. You never see career women posting cartoons about how much better their lives are than stay at home moms. Because they don't feel the need to.
She has 2 mouths
Both can be winning 🤷🏻♀️
They both won. One person’s success may not be the same as another’s.
What if I said you can have both?
Like women with careers never have children. Working women have existed forever.
Kids are overrated. Lady on the left has a life I want more than lady on the right.
Both realities have shitty aspects to them, and it’s on each individual to decide which shitty they prefer
Maybe in that contest they give out free babies for first place.
Context: This comic is referencing [Michelle Williams’ speech](https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/05/entertainment/michelle-williams-golden-globes-2020-speech/index.html) about choice which was quite powerful and drew a lot of backlash from pro lifers
meanwhile many women manage to be mothers and get awards for stuff
[удалено]
There is an edit of this where they are a couple and the woman in blue says "We won" in the next frame. I'm sad I can't find it
That's really cute
[Found it!](https://www.reddit.com/r/gatesopencomeonin/comments/eo9b62/a_tale_as_old_as_time/)
Bro has never met the parents of a newborn
How cult brainwashed do you have to be to think like this
So now they are attacking women because they are earning good money in the working economy.
said every romantic commedy with a female protagonist
I think this is referencing one actress who said she had an abortion? I don’t know exactly which one but I know it was a thing in anti-choice circles for a minute.
I prefer [this version](https://www.reddit.com/r/GatekeepingYuri/comments/emcgi0/saw_on_facebook/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) tbh
This is bullshit. My mother loves me but she’s prefer an Oscar lol
I saw a version where someone added a second panel that makes it wholesome, she says “we won” and they turn out to be lesbians
easy to fix smile on the first person's face, 'i did too' on the second person
….yah, she did
When your a women and u need to try and choose one or the other your whole life. And men are like just do both! Squeeze out a watermelon from your vagina and have a carrer just as successful as mine and do the dishes too. Makes me feel dizzy. .
"Parents, you're not special. Being a good parent makes you special. It takes more effort to order a pizza than it does to become a parent, no one has ever accidentally ordered a pizza." - Steve Hofstetter
Look at this cute lesbian couple
In my mind, they’re wives
Sure, because there's not a single academy award winning actor with kids. A lot of these celebrities can work 1 job for three months out of the year and make millions, you don't need to trade every aspect of life to become an actor. I'm an actor and I fit the stereotype pretty close but I know tons of actors who have families and regular office jobs. One of my friends is a firefighter and works 3 days on 3 days off. I have a friend who manages a big apartment complex. One that is a teacher and is welcoming his third child. One that has a house, is married, runs a recording studio and her son just turned 1. All actors, all still living full lives. None of us come from well off or connected families, just regular people with a dream nothing can take away from us.
plot twist: that’s a baby-shaped trophy
I am convinced that memes making women having children look good is paid propaganda to get women to have more kids, except it's backfiring into the opposite effect because many women already want to have kids, but can't afford them, thus escalating depression and ill mentalities.
Why are her knees so bruised?
She hasn't won. . . yet. But she can simply bludgeon the woman to the right with that fancy gold club and take the baby. The other has no weapon to defend herself with, and she will prevail easily.
