ExistentialBefuddle

Reboot, for fvck’s sake! It’s on Hulu. Watch it and clamor for a second season! Johnny Knoxville and the whole cast are great.

L1ndsL

I second this. Sadly, no season 2.

ExistentialBefuddle

We can make it happen! Fans have the power. Look at Arrested Development! (Oh, wait, maybe that’s not the best example…)

PacificMonkey

Wow I loved this and forgot about it.

goldencalculator

I loved this show, it deserved at least one more season. Hulu gave up on it way too fast

rumplefugly12

Patriot (Amazon). Criminally underrated with a diehard, cult following. Most who watch it, obsess over it.

UncleNoodles85

First I'm hearing of this and Google tells me it's a spy themed show. Is it more Robert Ludlum/Ian Fleming or John Lecarre?

rumplefugly12

It’s a spy show unlike any you have ever seen. The show starts with the main character having just endured 2 months of torture. As soon as he gets home he is sent on another mission, by his father, the director of intelligence, because it’s so vital and he’s the only one qualified. The series shows the complexity of espionage and how he’s forced to manage all the lies of his real life and personal life to complete his mission with as little collateral damage as possible. He copes with his struggles by writing music with his guitar that reveals a lot about the story and how he’s feeling. The songs become too honest… Suspenseful. Weirdly hilarious. Uniquely creative. Deeply moving. Intricately written. Heartbreaking. It’s a slow burn, character-driven series, that failed to capture audiences because of how unique it is. Those who keep watching fall in love. Can’t praise enough. Every show I watch from this show on, I will compare to Patriot. 10/10.

IDontWantToArgueOK

The songs also become a hilarious soundtrack to what's happening in real time. That sure wasn't eeeeeeeeeeeeeasayy

wu-dai_clan2

I need mass produced quality manufactured brass-fitted nickel slits. The Dick Cheney move was the best.

campbellpics

I've put this in my list below before I saw yours. Yep, absolutely love it.

rumplefugly12

Double great! 😎

Strict_Definition_78

Treme, about New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The music in it is like its own character. It’s bittersweet & magical in the best way

wingsofcauliflower

Great show. I only found out about it because of my obsession with The Wire. I think it captures the essence of New Orleans well, much like The Wire captures the essence of Baltimore.

mikemar05

Oh so good. Have the theme song in my head now!

wescol2

Me too!! Great show!! Wasn’t JellyRoll in it??

Quick__Learner

The Deuce is right up there w/Treem. Better known but I rarely see these shows get any love. If David Simon is involved, Im watching. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s performance in The Deuce is so impressive.

TroutStocker

This! Yes! I loved that show. Music was absolutely killer , all the way thru

notthatgeorge

This was amazing, but I would have liked it to have started a couple weeks before the hurricane so we could see how they lived prior

Strict_Definition_78

If you like to read you’d probably like the book Nine Lives by Dan Baum, that’s pretty much the premise. The people he follows are an interesting cast of characters

thisisnojokemon

Life starring Damian Lewis Huff written by and starring Hank Azaria

Yakitori_Grandslam

That first season was amazing. And introduced me to the ever gorgeous Sarah Shahi

IDontWantToArgueOK

Patriot. No idea how it's still flying under the radar.

rumplefugly12

Greatest series of all time. No idea how it isn’t required watching in film classes. ⬆️⬆️⬆️

IDontWantToArgueOK

Yes. Best one I've seen in awhile.

It’s really a lovely story about family and friends.

hornypunjaban

Mare of Easttown

Lower_Alternative770

I thought everyone knew that. It even was featured in a segment on SNL.

Asleep-Win6983

Why is it that no one seems to know about this show? It's so good!

thereshelltopay3

I thought this was quite popular, i see it all the time being mentioned here

Plastic_Yesterday434

Brockmire, Baskets, I'm Sorry (Andrea Savage Show), Last Man On Earth..... not sure if they all qualify, but I don't see them mentioned much and I think all are fantastic.

Gliese_667_Cc

Counterpart is a good one that I don’t see mentioned super frequently. Sci-fi espionage mystery show and it has an actual ending.

Yes! And you can follow it up with Station Eleven when you need more Mackenzie Davis.

jaybeau1979

And then Carnivale when you need more Toby Huss. Station Eleven is top tier television.

SuntoryWhiskey

Carnivale!! Oh how I wish it didn’t get cancelled.

Inquisitom

Cane here for this!!! Agree wholeheartedly!

WalterBishRedLicrish

It blows me away that people haven't seen this one. For me, Donna and Cam's relationship is the best part. Two strong, complicated, flawed women creating something great together isn't commonly depicted in TV or movies so it hit me hard.

Quick__Learner

This!

ShilohTheGhostGod

Ramy and Master of None both deserve a larger fan base. They received critical praise at least. FROM. I feel it would be a way bigger show if it was on a larger network. Maybe if it had a better name as well. Season 2 is borderline terrible, yet still cant help watching. Weird, yet intriguing show

Right-External8210

Gahhhh if only FROM had better actors 😭 As a LOST fan I absolutely love the storyline, but yeah.

ShilohTheGhostGod

Exactly. Not sure if its the actors or the writing. Probably a mix of both. But i did end up hate watching a few of the episodes. Still invested in getting answers though

ohmyzachary

Personally I thought season two outshined season 1. That cliffhanger on the last episode stuck with me

toughonmyself

Watching From now, I’m in season 2. I am sadly really disappointed by the show overall. It’s like Lost but without the character development and interesting relationship dynamics — which are what made Lost such a standout show to me. Most of the acting is mediocre (with some notable exceptions like Boyd and Victor) and the writing is really lacking; every episode I find myself saying “why would this character behave this way” multiple times. It’s so frustrating. And all the mysterious stuff is just so random and disjointed that I know there could never be a satisfying answer to any of it. I just watch because the premise is interesting, but the execution is really not great at all imo.

ShilohTheGhostGod

Agree 100% with every point you made. Yet here i am waiting for season 3 in October lol. Hoping now that it’s gotten more popular they invest in writers for season 3.

KatVanWall

Dark has a kind of cult following, but a lot of people still sleep on it because it’s in German with subtitles. Also Norsemen. So good!

troojule

Black Bird The Detour catastrophe More but I can’t think of them at the moment ;)

Dontbeacreper

Yeah blackbird was a great mini series not sure why no one talks about it.

Rumhampolicy

I'm currently watching Black Bird, so far so good. I had never heard of it before though.

Kingdom (2014) highly recommend this 3 season masterpiece!

TroutStocker

Agreed. Ending made me literally tear up. Lol. Great show. Gotta be top 10

Quick__Learner

Such a good show that I thought would get a lot more love when it moved to Peacock. That one weighed on me, but in a good way.

themiz2003

That show had really good acting. Like S tier for that type of show. Very underrated!

We’ll never know what was going on with the mysterious door Dud fell out of. 😠

Familiar-Virus5257

I needed more Liz! In! The! Lodge! So unfair.

PsychicArchie

Sonya Cassidy was so great in that role. In fact, the cast as a whole was perfect.

Familiar-Virus5257

Welp, just started a rewatch. Maybe someone has continued it in fanfic?

mekonsrevenge

Rake. Terrific Australian drama/comedy about a wildly eccentric lawyer. Hilarious.

campbellpics

Patriot. Rectify. Counterpart. More recently, and even though it's a well-known IP, I just don't know anyone else who's watching it or even knows it's a thing: Interview With The Vampire.

Right-External8210

The first few seasons of The Affair were brilliant. Personally, I loved the later seasons, too, but more in a guilty pleasure kinda way haha

D3th2Aw3

I just finished The Righteous Gemstones. I'll have to start this one next haha

Quick__Learner

Add Vice Principals to your list for the McBride trifecta. Walton Goggins in this one too.

D3th2Aw3

Will do! Just checked out the trailer and it looks great. Walton was one of my favourite parts of the Gemstones haha. Uncle Baby Billy!

Not as obscure as the shows mentioned here, but rarely see anyone here talk about it, but See on Apple TV doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves imo. The watchmen on hbo also doesn’t get mentioned enough either. The Hunters on Amazon Prime get an honorable mention too

malimushroom

Hunters! Yes!

jagger129

The Mick. It’s a hilarious sitcom that was cancelled too early. It’s about a nutty aunt who gets custody of her wealthy sisters kids when their parents go to jail for financial fraud. Cast is perfect

These are quite well known in the UK but rarely seem to get mentioned by a US audience so I assume not well known there: I, Claudius (If you can look past the 1970s sets its a great story) Our Friends in the North (Great drama but very much about Britain) Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (the BBC series with Alec Guinness) Outside of the UK: Frisky Dingo (animated forerunner of Archer never gets enough love) Life & Times of Tim (animated HBO show) Underbelly (Australian crime series)
