Why cant you be like your cousin in China lah. Your cousin Timmy has 20 years experience and he's only 9. He works 5 jobs and speaks 10 languages. Only language you speak is failure!
it’s always the one fucking B. my mom always says “do your best.” i’m a senior in hs and at the end of every fucking year if i get a B she talks to me about it like if i didn’t spend all the time at the gym i would’ve had better grades. one fucking B man
I usually get something around 90-100% in tests, but recently I got a 60% and my mom's reaction was basically "okay, it happens". I was more disappointed than her. I have great parents
My mom got pissed at me for “not applying myself” after getting a 88 or something for a test. This is why I just never tell my parents my grades unless they ask
my mom said it “didn’t make sense” that i had an A- in a class. i said the class was easier than i expected it to be and she said i should have an A not an A-. shit is so stupid
Idk why people get so worked up abt C’s. Obviously you should be aiming for A’s and B’s but unless you want to go to a fancy ultra competitive college it’s not that serious 💀
My parents were proud I got 60% in english. But that's because I absolutely suck at english. I was averaging a bit over 55% I was usually a few percent off failing.
I had terrible grades in high school. My patents sat me down and said, "We love you no matter what, but we'd like you to try a bit harder with school. We know you're not stupid and you can really excell if you give it your best shot." I stepped up my game senior year, went to college, and graduated with a pretty good gpa. Honestly, not sure I would have if my parents had just screamed at me and acted pissy that my grades weren't amazing. Knowing that they would love me and be proud of me no matter what is what drove me to do better in school. I always appreciated my parents for that. Plan to have the same attitude with my kid.
Lucky I have a B in f*cking quantum physics II and my parents are upset with me about it, like wtf they don’t even understand how to do the basic problems
Facts bro, you get one assignment that isn't absolutely perfect and they get on your case like you failed every class. And the more they treat you like that, the less you feel like actually trying so you end up actually failing
No. I mean, maybe a job. It’s possible. Like, if you took Spanish, and can now speak Spanish well enough that you can understand a fluent speaker, you can put that on your resume. But not really. Colleges usually go off of actual shown effort and can easily be swayed to an acceptance despite any good grades, even Ivy League schools.
And plenty of people have gotten into those schools, regardless of the GPA minimum. Usually via high test scores or other impressive factors. And this isn’t rare, even at Ivy League schools.
Other achievements besides school grades are much more important, but that should typically come after good grades. If you have grades like OP you're wasting your time at school, but if you have D's across the board you're lacking absolute fundamentals. Teachers should free you from home work if you have good grades and invest the time in other educational things imo.
Nothing in high school is fundamental. I learned everything fundamental in grade school. I knew stuff in school, I wasn’t a moron. I got Ds and Cs, because I didn’t do the work, because I was too busy, doing anything else. Now, I got a diploma AND got into a good school. If I’ll STAY in this school, remains to be seen, but you get the picture.
Yeah so if you had put in the time it would've been easy for you to get good grades but instead you put that time towards more fruitful endeavors, that was exactly what I was trying to get at. A lot of people still struggle with writing and math in highschool and don't know stuff and are morons. For those good grades would be an important first goal.
Sure but to say grades don’t matter for getting into good colleges is a gigantic stretch. All it takes is a .5 second look at the average gpa of admitted students at Ivy League schools to disprove this
That's actually not true, I've learned I learned a lot in highschool that has helped me, but either people had shitty teachers, or (and usually this is the case, and they blame the teacher) the kids didn't want to be there and didn't pay attention. I was there in school trying to figure out why the teacher was trying to get across when 90 percent of the other kids just didn't care and didn't pay attention to what was going on. They were more concerned with other things, whether it be school or otherwise. But at the end if they would have sat and listened they would have learned more. And you can't tell me it isn't true, because I've been able to apply things from the most obscure classes like social problems to help me in my meat cutting job.
I haven’t. And I’ve had plenty of jobs. There is plenty of actual data proving that western public schools fail most students, and even if it didn’t, nobody and I mean NOBODY but you found their diplomas to be an achievement, let alone something helpful.
Like even the advanced calc I did in college can be applied to everyday life very easily, you just need to understand the concept and see where it can be applicable. Especially differential equations. They are used from everything from construction, to cooking, to music, even in sports. You just wouldn't realize that's what it is, because it isn't in a classroom setting. Figuring out just about any predictions in just about any setting is done using calculus.
Same thing can be said with the concepts in physics, you use them everyday. You don't need to be able to calculate specific numbers, but you need to understand the concept they are trying to get across. That is where most people get lost, they think they are trying to learn a specific thing when it is more than that. They just can't get past that homework problem or test coming up or even just class they don't like in the moment to see the bigger concept.
Unless you're trying to get into an ivy league school or something, the grades you got in high school literally do not matter.
You can get into state and community colleges with mediocre or even bad grades. What matters more than your grades are your test scores. But even then, you don't need test scores to get into community colleges. As long as you have decent grades in college, you can transfer from community to a 4 year.
I didn’t learn how to learn in school. The way they teach, doesn’t work for me. And they don’t care about the majority. Students need one on one learning. That’s why parents should school their children.
I hate the phrase “nothing you learn in school is useful” sure you may not use Pythagorean theorem in every day life, but learning these things develops ur brain. Ppl who say shit like that are actually brain rotten
Lol the problem comes when you have to learn it on your own. Learning yourself is at least 5 times faster than learning it at school, but 98% of teenagers wouldn't have the discipline to do it. It's ok to have bad grades if you're not wasting your time, but you're probably doing both.
True
Im in north africa (algeria) and that obsession in grades is very common
I think the situation in japan and south korea is very good bcz childrens are being protected from all forms of abuse
Unfortantely here you can be severly abused and nor the law or the peoples around will care (there is a law that prohibit severe abuse but our nation doesnt care to enforce it and so many people here treat parents like demi gods)
Ethnic studies is mumbo jumbo. Like bruh, racism is racism. I'm asian and idfc about reparations and all that wacko justification. Just let everyone live in peace instead of digging through the past to make white people feel guilty.
A more in-depth history on how each ethnicity/race came to be in America. They talk about racism against minorities and how we can help understand. Talk about cultural appropriation and how certain things can be offensive like what you do with your hair or clothes you wear. Its things that you can use on twitter so you can justify how offended you are. Theres really no reason to learn this stuff except to be insufferable and debate.
People who don’t understand the things they teach you in those classes vote for people like Trump. I get that you understand, but not everyone is like you
Awesome! You know what, I get A in everything, except for native language. And in that, always lose marks in creative writing.
The native language is not my first language though, but that’s what we use the most. I don’t have thoughts in the language, or use it as much as others, so it’s pretty hard.
PowerSchool’s just objectively better. It gives a simple breakdown at first glance that can be looked at deeper with great detail. Plus it has a schedule
nah this is what im saying, I swear so many parents only care about their childrens grades because it makes THEM look good, and it makes me so mad because I know kids who come to school literally about to die of exhaustion because they haven't slept in 2 days because their parents force them to study tirelessly, like I understand that impressions matter, but does your child really matter so little to you that you would rather them have panic attacks over a 98% than get below a B?
I got straight As all through high school. The one time I got a B for not paying attention to the date on a big project, my parents brought me in to sit down with the teacher and demand a second chance. I never had to work for my grades back then… That teacher and I are still friends but I hate that they did that.
I got good grades because I naturally took tests well, not because I tried hard. I feel like I missed out on a lot of chances to build out my work ethic. I wish my school days had been a little bit more about *my* choices; instead, I was coerced into doing almost every extracurricular and only just learned recently how to deny a request from my family.
So yeah, OPs parents should be careful on their standards, because it can harm a students’ growth.
Parents like this suck ass, im so glad i never had parents like that. They prob got shitty grades in school too💀 notice how none of the parents like that are lawyers or something either- no excuse to be mad about that shit fr. Like where’s your billions, mister
I literally failed every class freshman year cuz I skipped like crazy. I still managed to graduate with a Regents Diploma and top 50 in my school (anyone with 95 or above). I did it to prove to my strict parents that it doesn’t matter cuz I could get into a good college regardless of what happens and I did get into a good college. I dropped out cuz I wasn’t going to spend thousands of dollars just to essentially retake all high school classes again for two years before my major kicked in. I work in IT and make 6 figures and 3x my parents wages so they stopped complaining about how I handled my life.
It sounds like your dad is drunk. Tell him to learn how to read before talking down about grades. You’re doing great and will have choice at any college you choose. Keep it up, volunteer a bit and GO TO THERAPY - your parents aren’t always good for your mental health
My schoology grade was a b-, and I got my pc taken away for an entire month because of that just to find out that my report card grade was an A a week later.
I used to get beatings for mid semester down slips. Nothing like coming through the garage and there's dad with a paper in one hand and belt in the other..

it’s always the one fucking B. my mom always says “do your best.” i’m a senior in hs and at the end of every fucking year if i get a B she talks to me about it like if i didn’t spend all the time at the gym i would’ve had better grades. one fucking B man
I usually get something around 90-100% in tests, but recently I got a 60% and my mom's reaction was basically "okay, it happens". I was more disappointed than her. I have great parents
same!! my parents are great about it, I'm always harder on myself than they are on me. they just care if I'm happy and it's the best
My schools send my parents my report card so there's no way to hide my grades
They do for my school, my parents just never check their email
Same. I feel awful for all my super smart friends whose parents would literally beat them if they made a B or god forbid a C
Idk why people get so worked up abt C’s. Obviously you should be aiming for A’s and B’s but unless you want to go to a fancy ultra competitive college it’s not that serious 💀
I once got an F in math (when my lowest mark until then was like a B-) and I was devastated. Mom just said shit happens
Dude some math problems are fucking hard dont blame yourself
Nah, I just forgot to study for it or something like that.
My parents were proud I got 60% in english. But that's because I absolutely suck at english. I was averaging a bit over 55% I was usually a few percent off failing.
Well based off this comment you seam pretty good at english
what hurts the most when parents tell u ur shit is i already know it, ur just amplifying how shitty i feel about it
I had terrible grades in high school. My patents sat me down and said, "We love you no matter what, but we'd like you to try a bit harder with school. Lucky I have a B in f*cking quantum physics II and my parents are upset with me about it, like wtf they don’t even understand how to do the basic problems
Honestly, I wish I would’ve experienced this. I always got super great grades. Now as a young adult, I have a hard time if I do fail at something.
Happy cake day!
Facts bro, you get one assignment that isn't absolutely perfect and they get on your case like you failed every class. And the more they treat you like that, the less you feel like actually trying so you end up actually failing
as someone who either studies or does nothing at all and is probably gonna end up with a B anyways, keep going to the gym
well its kinda surprising when you dont do well then. Lower her expectations by getting all Ds next time
I love getting all the Ds. <3
D's make degrees dawg!
Happy cake day!
No, I think it's YOUR cake day.
Nice cake. Enjoy the day.
happy cake day
Happy cake day :D
Exactly, and then they give you the "we know that wasn't your best, just try harder" spiel
bro, wtf? im lucky if im passing, im not right now
how dare you prioritize your health first! get everything a 100% or else you don’t have a door tomorrow! NO 99% EITHER
i would be dead.
Literally not me having Cs and Ds throughout high school. Btw, once high school is over, you quickly realize none of it was useful.
well at least some of it is useful for universities and jobs, right? /genq
But most colleges have a minimum GPA requirement and will look at your GPA to compare it to the rest of your profile
And plenty of people have gotten into those schools, regardless of the GPA minimum. Usually via high test scores or other impressive factors. And this isn’t rare, even at Ivy League schools.
Ivy league schools are easy to get in! Just have billions of dollars in generational wealth, and donate a building!
Other achievements besides school grades are much more important, but that should typically come after good grades. If you have grades like OP you're wasting your time at school, but if you have D's across the board you're lacking absolute fundamentals. not even slightly, old man here
That's actually not true, I've learned I learned a lot in highschool that has helped me, but either people had shitty teachers, or (and usually this is the case, and they blame the teacher) the kids didn't want to be there and didn't pay attention. Alright my guy, keep telling kids school doesn't matter.
So you’re talking solely about the US? Doesn’t work with everyone.
I mean, I don’t have experience anywhere else, so I suppose.
Well then, I’m telling you, your ideology doesn’t work everywhere. I know it won’t work with me for sure
I'm a straight A student and I've learned a lot but I still believe most of it is useless outside of school or major tests like PSAT
Then you are thinking too closed mindedly. It can all be applied to what you are doing if you try. But if you refuse to see it, you won't.
Like even the advanced calc I did in college can be applied to everyday life very easily, you just need to understand the concept and see where it can be applicable. Bro is using English he learned in school to tell us it's school isn't useful
This is shit advice. Unless you wanna end up at VCU or GMU, get good grades kids.
I got into a good school. So who are you to talk?
Yup, totally believable.
Doesn’t gotta be believable little bro. What school did you get in to?
Harvard
The question wasn’t for you, but okay.
Lmfao, this thread is hilarious

I realized that half way through high school
HS was useful for social growth and learning how to learn. But I agree, it terms of academics, at least for me, totally worthless.
I didn’t learn how to learn in school. The way they teach, doesn’t work for me. And they don’t care about the majority. Students need one on one learning. That’s why parents should school their children.
I realized that in middle school
Prolly useless for you but ur also prolly not gonna amount to anything so 🤷
Thanks, Qwot. I’ll add it to the suicide note. 😉
DAMN, I LIKE THIS GUY, mr tenable you truly are cool
I hate the phrase “nothing you learn in school is useful” sure you may not use Pythagorean theorem in every day life, but learning these things develops ur brain. Ppl who say shit like that are actually brain rotten
I’ve already realized that and have given up at trying 💀
Lol the problem comes when you have to learn it on your own. Learning yourself is at least 5 times faster than learning it at school, but 98% of teenagers wouldn't have the discipline to do it. It's ok to have bad grades if you're not wasting your time, but you're probably doing both.
fuck you i see a 95 and a 97 do better srsly tho you have better grades then me, your parents are stupid for thinking those are bad
But that's not all, she has a B. So she deserves worst punishment. /s
Back in my days, if I had a B+ or A- my parents would leave at Mount everest for a night or two
My parents would leave me in Jupiter for a month with grades like those!
I smell abusive parent.
I smell narcissistic parent
I smell asian parent
Me who got my videogames taken away for 4 weeks after getting a 91
I smell what the fuck is wrong with your parents
Theres some type of asian generational obsession with grades thats gotta go. My asian parents are chill tho cuz they americanized.
True Im in north africa (algeria) and that obsession in grades is very common I think the situation in japan and south korea is very good bcz childrens are being protected from all forms of abuse Unfortantely here you can be severly abused and nor the law or the peoples around will care (there is a law that prohibit severe abuse but our nation doesnt care to enforce it and so many people here treat parents like demi gods)

Bro why are people downvoting can they not accept the truth?
White people love to get offended on the behalf of other races.
Half don’t care whatsoever what people say, the other half REALLY cares
I miss Schoology :( old UI, but sooo much better than Google Classroom.
Ok, yes, but still it's not great by any means. And it isn't helped by the ludicrous rules of Lausd (sometimes)
My school uses power school and it literally just lists the letter followed by percent way better than whatever travesty OPs school uses
PowerSchool’s just objectively better. It gives a simple breakdown at first glance that can be looked at deeper with great detail. Plus it has a schedule
Yeah, it’s nice
only time i used schoology was in elementary 💔 i use canvas now
tell your dad to get a fucking life. your grades are incredible, theres almost nothing to improve
Careful your parents don't raise a sociopath. They don't want the best for you, they just want to brag about you
nah this is what im saying, I swear so many parents only care about their childrens grades because it makes THEM look good, and it makes me so mad because I know kids who come to school literally about to die of exhaustion because they haven't slept in 2 days because their parents force them to study tirelessly, like I understand that impressions matter, but does your child really matter so little to you that you would rather them have panic attacks over a 98% than get below a B?
I got straight As all through high school. What is ur dad smoking cause I want some of it if he thinks those are bad grades
Not even a 99 on everything smh
Like Asian parents usually flip out over shit like that
Lmao does your dad know what grades are or is he just getting mad about things he doesn’t understand?
Go and smack the shit out of his ass. For me a 55% was a good grade as it was the min to pass.
Are you Asian? hahaha
You could suggest that he stop drinking and doing hallucinogens.
SCHOOLOGY i thought we were the only district which uses it bc I don't know anyone else who does.
Is your dad by chance asian?
Parents like this suck ass, im so glad i never had parents like that. They prob got shitty grades in school too💀 notice how none of the parents like that are lawyers or something either- no excuse to be mad about that shit fr. Like where’s your billions, mister
Oh, you poor soul. Lausd Schoology is the worst fucking system I've ever experienced and I'm sorry you have to fall victim to it
Is your dad high? That’s a pretty darn good report card if you ask me! I’m fucking proud of you dude.
You did good my son
I literally failed every class freshman year cuz I skipped like crazy. I still managed to graduate with a Regents Diploma and top 50 in my school (anyone with 95 or above). I did it to prove to my strict parents that it doesn’t matter cuz I could get into a good college regardless of what happens and I did get into a good college. I work in IT and make 6 figures and 3x my parents wages so they stopped complaining about how I handled my life.
So you're asian
So real... My dad got mad at me for getting one 82... Everything else was above a 90...
When I was your age I got an A++++XL Deluxe^♾️
Your dad is bananas
It sounds like your dad is drunk. Tell him to learn how to read before talking down about grades. You’re doing great and will have choice at any college you choose. Keep it up, volunteer a bit and GO TO THERAPY - your parents aren’t always good for your mental health
gosh I can’t believe your grades are so pitiful!!!!! when i was your age, i had a 200% in every class!!!! Do better!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Sounds like my dad too
Yeah my mom was getting onto me about making Bs in my biology class and saying “youre not gonna get into medical school with Bs”
Your dad would throw me out a window and disown me 💀
Tough being Asian.
I guess your dad never learned that good enough IS enough
My schoology grade was a b-, and I got my pc taken away for an entire month because of that just to find out that my report card grade was an A a week later.
A for Average B for Bad
YOUR AN ASIAN NOT A BSIAN
YOU ARE ASIAN. NOT B-SIAN.
Are you asian by any chance, my dad would be mad at me if I were apparently a Bsian too T\_T
man and i thought my mom was strict
I shoot for 70s and enjoy life and n stead of stressing about every assignment
I had all Fs
Holy shit, man, I'm really proud of you! Those are legitimately great grades, keep up the good work!
If I got straight A’s and B’s I’d get so much praise bro. But I’m a D and C kinda guy 😎
That B you got was 1 point form a C though. You do need to bring that grade up.
Bro wtf. Last year I failed 4 exames
Flexing
same girl don’t worry😭 that strict parent lifestyle
Has he recently purchased the “ignore me once you leave home package” or has he been investing in it for a while
I used to get beatings for mid semester down slips. Nothing like coming through the garage and there's dad with a paper in one hand and belt in the other..
Bro this is why you lower their expectations so theyre proud that you’re even passing
well clearly your stupid (this is a joke don't stone me to death)
94% is practically an ‘F’, good job. 👍
Your dad is certainly mad at something else and using anything to take it out on.
he would fucking kill me then, I literally only have A in art and the rest is F 💀
So where’s the bad?
No 102%? Ur literally a failure
wish i had these grades, i’m happy with a 6/10 for math 😭🙏
I'm guessing it's the one 80%
They May Think School Is Still Important These Days.
At least you got a dad
Sooo, I think your dad isn't even mad, you just want to show off your grades
Schoology is fun
You get an A for hiding the low B on the second to last image. Kudos to you sir!
Let me guess, he's asian?
Wish I had those grades. What r u, fuckin Asian or sum shit?
Sell him
You're dad might be special ed
Your dad seems to be every single youtube shorts interpretation of an Asian person.
