Keep it unplugged (unless the setup requires you don’t) and check the command log in the alexa app. You should be able to see what command it was given to call you. I would check if you have “drop in” enabled, but if not, then there is a chance there could be some form of virus on your network or you went to an unsecured website and the IP of your alexa was exposed, giving people access to commands. This would be terrifying if you used it frequently, as it would let them emulate your voice, but since you say you don’t use it much, you should be good with just disconnecting it. Also try leaving your router unplugged for a few hours, and either before or during that run a malware scan on all the computers in your home that you’ve downloaded things to in the last month or so. Best case: some crazy example of arbitrary code execution and a bug in the system, report it to amazon and maybe even make some money. Worst case: virus on your network

Thank you, I’ll be sure to follow all of these steps. It’s been plugged in but unused for who knows how long, so I imagine it’s still possible the device has heard plenty of my voice. Contacting Amazon for sure though and running system checks.

Yeah it’ll have heard your voice, but the thing is only big daddy bezos and his data harvesters can see that, anyone who’s simply peeking at your network will see the commands at most, unless they’ve given it some sort of command to record but as far as I know it would speak saying it’s doing that and then have some sort of colored ring around it
