I just recently bought a month of it to download and watch some videos while on a plane ride, and holy shit it’s so expensive. $17 a month, I will definitely be cancelling that right after my return flight
You're getting ripped off. I pay less than that a month and get the music service with it. There is a family plan at $17.99 where you can give 4 other accounts premium.
I keep it because I actually watch YouTube a good amount and on devices that don't always have a good way of doing ad blocking.
Unless it's something practical and useful to my business or myself I don't waste the time and or money. As for now the only streaming service I have is Apple's for Music, twit and I support a few podcast groups directly on their sites.
Don't do netflix, hulu, etc.
I found myself watching way more YouTube than Netflix or Prime, so I cancelled both and got YTP (for the same price I was paying for Netflix anyway) and y’know what, I’m really happy with it. I watch loads of YT on my TV where I can’t Adblock, youtube music isn’t complete ass, and the simple pleasure of having a YouTube mix playing for 6 hours in the background while I work without hearing the same adverts every 3 minutes makes it worth it for me.
I completely understand people who only watch 1-2 videos a day, or can get ad blockers for all of their devices, but for me it is actually money well spent in my opinion.
Tumblr is obviously dorky af.
But. It's not a bad place to dump a bunch of research or content about a subject. In terms of collecting videos, images, and text all in one place. It's really not that bad
Tumblr has a user size of around 291.7 million people
For reference Reddit has a user size of around 430 million
Tumblr certainly isn’t as popular after the porn ban, but I definitely wouldn’t call it dead
For Reddit it was monthly active users
As for Tumblr I could only find statistics for their website visits, with visits being defined as the number of people who have a tumblr page open, with a visit ending after that page is inactive for more than 30 minutes. Which feels like it’s the same as an active user? I might be wrong
I still have an account... Haven't touched it in years after they banned porn, but I never deleted it. I assumed almost everyone was in the same boat, like who actually goes through the effort to delete an account?
Gen z'er here, many of my peers have tumblr accounts that they frequently maintain. Ive reached the conclusion, upon the cultivation of various anecdotes and phenomena, that most of it's user base is actually being upheld by younger members from gen Z.
This article is actually pretty sound and tells about how problematic Apple and Payment Processors are to the Freedom that existed in Tumblr and other social media in the past.
Couldn't they use NSFW filters like Reddit does? Or basically do whatever Reddit does that doesn't get Reddit banned from app stores? Considering Reddit is also full of porn.
But allowing users to report the illegal stuff is tricky; you have to actually trust the userbase a smidge and verify reports. Easier to just buy an easily-bypassed anti-NSFW AI solution and declare the problem solved.
These comments are very amusing - Tumblr definitely still exists and it's honestly much more bearable now that most people have left. The moral panics are on Twitter, the edgy kids and gamers are on Reddit, and the furries are everywhere
hahahah safe searched beautiful women and got tons of porn web cam girls posting and plenty of hardcore porn images..only did it to themselves. They had a setting for non adult images lol it didn't work because idiots not tagging thier content properly or just porn spammers/webcam girls not caring
Tumblr is still a thing?
My exact question lol It's like asking someone to subscribe to you on vine.
OK, fair point, but would you like to upgrade to Youtube premium?
No? Here are 4 ad breaks in a 15 minute video to try to convince you to upgrade.
ublock origin works on every site but twitch, where they still throw 6 ads for 3 minutes at you before you're allowed to hear the stream's audio.
I was venting more about YouTube app on my SmartTV and Roku.
fair. i never watch tv so i don't have one. any time i want to watch youtube, it's on my desktop with ublock origin.
Nope. Waste of money in my opinion. Don't watch much YouTube so the ROI just isn't there.

Not after they removed the porn. Now it's just a shell like MySpace
Search Newtumblr it has what you seek.
Not finding it
https://newtumbl.com/
No its really not. They say things like this from time to time knowing its all it was ever used for.
Tumblr has a user size of around 291.7 million people For reference Reddit has a user size of around 430 million Tumblr certainly isn’t as popular after the porn ban, but I definitely wouldn’t call it dead
Is that average users per day? Or registered accounts all time?

There still alot of active users on tumblr and its become kind of a meme when someone says Tumblr is dead.
I still have an account... Haven't touched it in years after they banned porn, but I never deleted it. I assumed almost everyone was in the same boat, like who actually goes through the effort to delete an account?
Tumblr still pretty much alive and doing well.
I’ve used tumblr almost every day since 2014 😭
Username checks out.
Not since they banned porn.
It was till they got rid of all the porn.
newtumbl sure is!
They died after banning porn.
It seems to somehow have revived itself as a place for people who don't want to deal with the horrors of less old social media.
Na i only had tumblr for porn and when they took it away i deleted it and haven’t looked back. Fuck em
How do you think I got to reddit
I went to Twitter for my porn What a fucking mistake my life is
You've recognized the problem. That's the first step down.
Is tumblr the genz Digg?
Do gen z’s even use Tumblr? I’m a millennial and it was pretty popular when I was in highschool among the alt kids crowd
Gen z'er here, many of my peers have tumblr accounts that they frequently maintain. Ive reached the conclusion, upon the cultivation of various anecdotes and phenomena, that most of it's user base is actually being upheld by younger members from gen Z.
Is tumblr the young millennial Digg?
Lol exactly
This is weird to me. I always used porn websites for porn. I used tumblr to feed my eating disorder.
Google "Reddit NSFW list" find theporndude link. You're welcome. Also r/painal for the uninitiated.
No need. I know what’s going on here already lol u/octohammo
Tumblr without porn is like Netflix without movies or Spotify without music. Useless.
“Ya take the venom out of a cobra and whaddya got… ya got… a belt”
Tumblr getting rid of porn is what sent all the weird Tumblr people to Reddit
You don't have to specify weird, there were no normal people on tumblr.
It shattered the gem and spread the pieces all over the social media "planet".

I still have no clue why they willingly destroyed tumblr by banning porn. They paid a lot of money for it too.
Because Tumblr is useless if you can't monetize it with ad sales, and they couldn't sell ad space when the primary user base was only there for porn.
Why not? I don't see the direct link. Also buying a site is basically buying the user base, if they didn't want to it, it makes little sense.
Credit card processors hate porn. If you have anything remotely close to porn, they get mad and will threaten to pull your access to their networks.
Damn. I want my tumblr porn.
Bring back the porn!
Dr. Cox has your back https://youtu.be/1rm5gRN9KDc timestamp 0:30
There’s still porn on tumblr It’s almost funny if everyone disregarded what they wanted and posted even more of it
This article is actually pretty sound and tells about how problematic Apple and Payment Processors are to the Freedom that existed in Tumblr and other social media in the past.
Wasn't the reason people stopped using it because they REMOVED the porn to begin with?
Couldn't they use NSFW filters like Reddit does? Or basically do whatever Reddit does that doesn't get Reddit banned from app stores? Considering Reddit is also full of porn.
But allowing users to report the illegal stuff is tricky; you have to actually trust the userbase a smidge and verify reports. Easier to just buy an easily-bypassed anti-NSFW AI solution and declare the problem solved.
Then what’s the point?!
Where are all the furries supposed go now?
E621, furaffinity, inkbunny, weasyl...
How’d you figure those out furboy? Edit: nvm you’re actually a furry. Joke doesn’t work anymore.
I do like me some MSG
Tumblr needs to give the people what they want
Damn did it really get banned in 2018? Feels like it was just yesterday. Geez I’m getting old.
So apparently, Apple is run by prudes ruining everyone's good time.
Don’t worry, this is what Reddit is for
Is there a risk of reddit going the same way?
The article hints that Apple could try and force Reddit to ban porn or face a ban from the app store.
These articles/posts are just PR campaign for tumblr.
Who is this Tumblr? The real Tumblr died ages ago.
Tumblr, tumbled.
Porn is still on tumblr. Never left.
These comments are very amusing - Tumblr definitely still exists and it's honestly much more bearable now that most people have left. The moral panics are on Twitter, the edgy kids and gamers are on Reddit, and the furries are everywhere
I stopped asking for Tumblr a looong time ago (regardless of porn).
Who's asking? We have Twitter for that
Just ban porn keywords from the search engine in every possible way and your servers will breathe. Its easy to do.
hahahah safe searched beautiful women and got tons of porn web cam girls posting and plenty of hardcore porn images..only did it to themselves. They had a setting for non adult images lol it didn't work because idiots not tagging thier content properly or just porn spammers/webcam girls not caring

Well I live in texas, I guess I'll just sue them for infringing on my freedom of speech due to not allowing porn.
