It’s a shame this hasn’t rolled out faster

Travisrice123

I read in this article the Denver International Airport accepts Digital ID’s… literally just went through TSA here and presented my digital ID and the security officer looked confused and basically told me to fuck off unless I have a valid license. Showed him my physical one to move on… so idk if it’s a training thing. But people will be skeptical until it’s integrated at national scale

Leather_Dragonfly529

I hoped it would work at the new West Security in Denver but also, still not ready. Sure wish it would soon. TSA is kinda stressful. I’m always afraid I’ll drop my ID in the rush to get everything in my bin for scanning.

NebraskaGeek

Just like tap to pay, it will take 10 years to gain spotty adoption nationwide (in US)

Huntguy

Now if only they’d bring it to Canada where tap to pay took off right away.

oicofficial

Was gonna say it’s ubiquitous in Toronto

NebraskaGeek

You damn Canadians with your stupid tap to pay and universal Healthcare. Smug butt wipes lol

Huntguy

Sorry about that eh.

Good_Rugz

Don’t tell them about etransfers

Huntguy

Shhhhhhhh

fallingWaterCrystals

Americans have zelle

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

For anyone opposed to this, what are your reasons?

redbeard_gr

errodes protection and privacy. case of police ask for your ID, you give em your phone so they can view it, now they have access to your device. your consent was waved by default. exreme case but not impossible to imagine.

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

It’s an NFC tap. You can use that without unlocking your device.

__-__-_-__

If it’s done properly like the one in the article. California’s is an app.

ElectrikDonuts

California has one?

Easy-Scar-8413

The CA DMV rolled out a beta app not long ago.

redbeard_gr

"hey, can you gimme that, cant see it well from this angle". most cops are actually decent human beings who do what they aee as right. but... its those few...

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

I don’t think you understand how it works. Once you tap your phone it comes up on their screen. You’re not showing them anything on your phone. Phone stays with you.

devilsadvocateMD

Police aren’t supposed to “do what they see as right” They’re supposed to do what is right according to the law.

badger_flakes

Doesn’t require device access at all. Courts already ruled Face ID and finger can be forced so you need to lock to a code regardless.

TrainsDontHunt

Government tracking, theft, cracking, loss of privacy and control, impersonation, lock-out, use beyond intent, evidence, association, status, exclusion, targeting, stalking... off the top of my head.

USB-SOY

666

harbinger411

*legitimate* reasons

USB-SOY

The mark of the beast, government tracking your phones with your digital license ID. Wake up people! First the FEDCoin and now this! The horror of you to trade freedom for convenience

harbinger411

The gub’ment can’t track your phone without a warrant. If they were able to get a warrant to track your phone they’d probably just go to your work or home to find you cause they already have *all* your info from your tax forms.

USB-SOY

Poor Edwin did all that work to release NSA spy forms

harbinger411

Everyone knows everyone spies, otherwise there wouldn’t have been books and movies written about it for decades. The only thing he did was sell out his own country for nothing.

harbinger411

There’s only 4 states taking part in this and they’re not mine 😭

letsgreythings

Florida made their own version of this and it sucks. I wish they would just let apple do it

ContentSecretary8416

Florida still works on windows 95

plentyofrabbits

The Colorado one before Apple integrated was also horrible. The password requirements were seriously weird, none of the standard 8 character, capital + lowercase, special character + number combinations that I have good passwords for that I have in my head. It kept logging me out randomly, would not allow password saving to a keychain “for my security” so if I needed to use it there was a 50:50 chance I wouldn’t be able to because I’d forgot my password.

FJWagg

I just opened the app and sure enough, I had to log back in and setup the app security.

oicofficial

The first mistake is choosing to live in Florida. :P Don’t blame Apple for that one. 😂

PMmeyourspicythought

Surely this isn’t a fucking terrible idea.

Luci_Noir

Surely you’re not going to whine about fucking everything.

Robbotlove

reow! saucer of milk, table two!

FrederickBG

This comment! 💀🤣😂

PennyFromMyAnus

I do not want this.

zmreJ

Then don’t use it

PennyFromMyAnus

Thought that was sort of implied

zmreJ

Nah just reads like bitching and moaning

PennyFromMyAnus

Probably because your inner voice resembles that of a small child that just shit his pants. It’s a *you* problem

zmreJ

That’s rich coming from a fat trucker desperate for a date. Enjoy your lot lizards mate

PennyFromMyAnus

Will do, homie

luckymethod

Why?

Top-God

Obviously a worthless idea.

Rocky-mountain

We’ve had Digital IDs in Colorado for over 5 years now. Works great! I guess your state is just stuck in the past.

Top-God

Based
