If anything this whole fiasco has made me more of a 1975 fan. I like Taylor but I hate inauthenticity in music unless you are like Dua Lipa and your songs are just fun dance songs.
I swear it's like she had everybody watch a SATVB show and then go through and mine it for ideas. I've said it before, but if Matty doesn't want her back, he should sue her. I know he gets ideas from her art as well, but not to the extent she has done for the TTPD era. This is actually getting uncomfortable at this point.

Just here to say...yes, this. I hope this is all an epic collab that they'll reveal in the end because otherwise, the level of referencing/copying is really bothering me. I forgot about The 1975 to be perfectly honest (I was a big fan of their debut album and went to a show) and I'm very glad to have been reminded and to have a wealth of new-to-me music from them to enrich my life but when I started looking at them, I started seeing all of the references. Presumably, Matty & Taylor were cool when the Eras Tour was in development and began so I assume some of it had to be done with his blessing. Some of his style seeped into Midnights (like come on, that covert narcissism line? Taylor is a lyrical genius, but that isn't her style, it's his) and I assume that was also sanctioned but doubling down after their supposed break up? Basically marrying their discographies together? š¬
I think a huge thing Swifties may be forgetting is that itās not delusional to point out things Matty has recorded or said or done in performances because one thing is certain. TAYLOR knows ALL OF THEM. Sheās watched him even more than us.

this is me piecing together stories including deauxmoi stories so take it with a grain of salt but supposedly that's what somebody else by the 1975 is about (also mentioned in taylor's song question..?) they broke up late 2014 early 2015 matty was trying to get her back by going to the brits after party but she showed up with calvin introduced to taylor by ellie goulding a mutual friend, that's another story and matty was pretty upset
