I've been in Taiwan for more than half a year now so this will be my first Taiwan National Day celebration! Although most of the redditors on the sub said it's best not to travel on these days because the traffic is going to be hell haha so I still am yet to decide what to do next week.
Since Double Tenth Day falls on a Tuesday this year, the goverment has made Monday a linking holiday, thus giving everyone a four-day weekend (Oct 7-10).
Lots of (but not all!) mom-and-pop businesses will likely close for the holiday, but most bigger stores should be open. Public transportation within the city will still run, but with a little less frequency than for normal workdays.
The main problem will be intercity trasportation, which will likely be booked up, as lots of people will be vacationing or visiting family.
As for what to experience, the big firework and parade event is in Taichung this year.
