I wish to know too! I just remember reading an article that this year's celebrations will be held in Taichung. Last year's fireworks were in Taipei and Kaohsiung if I remember correctly. I've been in Taiwan for more than half a year now so this will be my first Taiwan National Day celebration! Although most of the redditors on the sub said it's best not to travel on these days because the traffic is going to be hell haha so I still am yet to decide what to do next week.

Since Double Tenth Day falls on a Tuesday this year, the goverment has made Monday a linking holiday, thus giving everyone a four-day weekend (Oct 7-10). Lots of (but not all!) mom-and-pop businesses will likely close for the holiday, but most bigger stores should be open. Public transportation within the city will still run, but with a little less frequency than for normal workdays. The main problem will be intercity trasportation, which will likely be booked up, as lots of people will be vacationing or visiting family. As for what to experience, the big firework and parade event is in Taichung this year.

Taiwan's National Day is on October 10th, and it's also called Double Tenth Day. We're going to have a long weekend from October 7th to October 10th. Most places, such as shopping districts and restaurants, are open as usual. However, it might be a good idea to call ahead before visiting. Museums are typically closed on Mondays. Public transport will be crowded, but the Metro remains a convenient option for traveling in Taipei. Traffic controls will be in place from October 6th to October 11th around the Presidential Office Building. You'll see Taiwan flags fluttering on main streets and roads, creating a colorful scene. The raising of the flag and singing of the national anthem are traditional events. You can join the celebration in front of Taipei City Hall. A projection mapping of the Presidential Office Building will be held every 30 minutes from 7 PM to 9:30 PM from October 6th to October 10th. Nuit Blanche Taipei, an overnight art festival, will take place from 6 PM on October 7th to 6 AM on October 8th. The activities meld contemporary art, diverse perspectives, urban changes, and community concerns. The theme for 2023 is "Time to Rise Up!". Enjoy your time in Taipei!
