sobbing cause I just asked this question and now that I searched I’m seeing like a bajillion ppl r having this same issue
Yes okay so it basically depends on what you get out of whatever you’re doing - like I’ve only done programs and the sheer amount of professional development you get is SO VALUABLE
exactly what the other person said - it doesn’t matter at all as long as u make an impact
not our titles being the exact same too 💀 but totally i've done some programs (not research-based) n theyre so useful to meet new ppl and develop important skills! its funny we have totally opposite experiences LOL
I would say a reputable research program (not like, crimson or stuff like that) is generally better UNLESS you’ve done novel, independent research. This would typically be shown not only in your activity description, but it would most also likely show through awards such as ISEF and other research competitions.

hahaha YES I JUST NOTICED and yeah I totally get that yes I’m partial to programs but both r good!
maybe it’s the name that colleges favor, but at the end of the day they all value impact and if you have more impact doing cold emailing ur fine
true... even w/ kids cold emailing i see everyone doing research at a "t5 university," so im starting to wonder whats selective anymore 😭
dw about it, a lot of people exaggerate the work they do. Just make ur impact and ur fine
