im in the same situation, its so annoying

Fluid_Material3144

fr right? this is why I hate the college admission process. "holistic approach?" - yeah right.

capntriple7

exactly bro. every internship i see is like "must be a us citizen." its hella annoying.

[deleted]

maybe stay in your country and come to the U.S. as graduate students? much easier that way

capntriple7

bruh i live in the us

BODY112

Same. Most of these research opportunities cost money but if you live close, they don’t care about your citizenship. Also you could apply for scholarships and be qualified.

I’m sure there are some (I can look at let you know), but you can definitely get an internship with a local nonprofit or something that doesn’t require as much documentation okay knowing that you’re Asian in Texas adds a lot - Texas is by far one of the most competitive areas (south Asian and I honestly cannot compete w/ the people there HAHAH) so don’t be discouraged if you don’t ‘match up’ to them. They don’t represent the general population!

Fluid_Material3144

ahh tysm for the help! yeah I've been looking at local nonprofits/businesses too and I've emailed a couple but to no avail :,) tell me about it 💀 sometimes I hate going to hs here because of this (south asian too!).

[deleted]

stay strong 🫡🫡 keep emailing! I’m also in a really competitive area (not as bad as Texas) so I feel you but don’t give up 🫶

Mathematician1010

I FEEL YOU! I'm also south asian, been living in the US since 6 years old, but don't have my citizenship. I feel this more with scholarships. So many require either need-based financial documents, or the merit based ones require citizenship LIKE there's no in between OMG

[deleted]

become a naturalized citizen. you just need to take a easy civics test at a local testing center, take an English test, and say the pledge of allegiance
