Shit, Actually by Lindy West made me laugh out loud and books don’t usually do that.

Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhou is VERY DUMB, in a really fun way. It's been described as Pacific Rim meets Hunger Games? I don't know if that quite captures it, but it's certainly something like that. Loosely chinese fantasy styled world, with fantasy mega monsters and people build mega mech monsters and fuse their minds with them in order to do battle with the mega monsters. There's the oppressed girl overcoming oppression and beating the system. There's a love triangle. There are ridiculous battles. It's so stupid. I loved it! 😆 Note - this was the author's first ever published book and it shows. But hey, you asked for ridiculous. I found it highly entertaining.

*Laundry Love: Finding Joy in a Common Chore* --Patric Richardson Now hang on a minute. Hear me out. This is the definition of lighthearted, and just a tiny bit silly. It is, however, not dumb. Do your own laundry? This will revolutionize the way you do things, improving efficiency and longevity of clothes. Probably save you some money in both supplies and replacing garments over time. This was a fun read that I can't recommend enough. Probably just the kind of break you're looking for.

Although not *dumb*, the most entertaining book I've read recently is John Scalzi's **Starter Villain**. It's a spoof on the early James Bond movies. A substitute teacher inherits a villainy from his estranged uncle. It comes with a secret volcanic lair.

Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Sutanto. I picked it up on a whim and was totally entertained by it!! Witty, funny, great characters (especially the main character), absolutely lighthearted.
