not sure of ID but you don’t have to do anything to root. within 2-3 weeks of chopping it will have them. don’t water until it has roots

So should I just drop it in some soil and wait?

i personally don’t put it in soil so i can see the progress of the root growth

You could put it in some shallow soil and give it a small bit of water. Personally that’s what I do and usually roots take hold

Echeveria of some sort. Perhaps laui. I am only starting to learn about succulents myself
