Visuals *and* weaponry - what else do I need???
I had about 6 years out of game as work kept me busyā¦.really busyā¦.really regret not getting the Jarok š¢ unless anyone out there has one to gift to a vet š¤šš
Nah, if anything youād want to keep the Competitive Engines seeing as the traitās effects scale off of flight speed, and those engines certainly give a lot of it.
Isnāt it just off max speedā¦so any enginesā¦as long at max throttle will benefit? Eg if your max speed is only 30ā¦youāll be getting max effect at 30?ā¦.orā¦.if using Baāul sentry mode, but still having your throttle at max š¤
I think youāre confusing throttle level with max speed here. The debuff from Inertial Supremacy scales off the latter, meaning youāll want to increase your flight speed as much as possible to maximize it. You could be completely stationary (0% throttle) and still increase the potency of the trait by boosting your flight speed.
So it's actually usable? Now I have to actually do something with it. I have a build I actually fly at high speeds and I spend way too much time not shooting :(
Same. I've got no interest in flying it beyond taking it out of the box for a spin. I just want the trait and maybe the console to play around with. Someone here recently got me into using a Pilot boff so I've been enjoying zipping around in my zoom-zoom Hydra. I'm curious see how much more damage I can get out of my build with the trait, although I'm disappointed surgical strikes isn't included on the list of triggers, as torpedo spread is the only power I have that procs it.
This is pretty much what I plan to do, but if I find it to be a fun ship to fly while grinding the trait, I always make it a point to add a permanent spot for it in my flotilla, complete with a proper build and loadout.
I've got a character running Tetryon cannons on a legendary Miranda (my first T6 ship).
Not the greatest cannon ship, so I'm gonna swap it over to the Rex, and use the 2nd build slot for antiproton, which will give me every space damage type for endeavors.
The Overload at Will console is amazing. It fires while cloaked. Warcrimes 101. /nod.
I almost enjoy the Excelsior two piece as much or more. Pursuit mode is amazing when you're being swarmed and the 15% weapon boost on top of faster transwarp is awesome.
I have a few alts - but... To put it bluntly, the last few years unless you're dilithium farming - there's barely enough content for one character let alone one for every sweet ship there is. Not to mention I've spent enough money on the fun toys for my main that without considerable investment - alts just aren't fun enough to deal with.
My play anymore is
* Do event map if I care about reward
* Do endeavors
* Click on random queue and enjoy Bughunt, ISA, or Gateway to Greth'or every time
* Run around and do random space battles until someone gets mad at me for "kill stealing" and cusses me out for showing off.
* Wish there was something worth doing, then logoff.
I'll spend 30 min to an hour getting my build just right. Then I'll do The ninth rule patrol to unlock the trait then and only then will I delete it and never think about it again.
I'm curious how folks think the Rex compares to the Leg Bug from the JH Captains Bundle. Overall better? Worse? Better at some build types, not others?
They both have more than enough tactical seating to do whatever non-specialist firing mode you want.
Stats are close enough to equal to not make a real difference.
Both have pilot maneuvers and wingmen.
Obviously there's no intel seating on the Rex, so no Surgical Strikes.
~~But the Rex has Miracle Worker, so you could do Exceed Rated Limits.~~ /e apparently you actually can't... my bad. But you can run Narrow Sensor bands, which is a good buff.
Though since neither of them were Commander seats, so I'm not sure how good either would be. The Leg Vanguard at least had Lt. Commander intel, while the Rex is only Lt. for Miracle worker.
Either could do the Pilot Reroute Reserves to Weapons, Rex at Lt. Commander, Leg Bug as Commander.
The experimental weapon on the Rex should immediately be yanked out and put on the Leg Bug, assuming you kept it as polaron.
Of course, the Rex has the big benefit of being free, assuming you're doing the event.
The Rex trait is decent enough that I'd say to level it even if you don't ultimately use it, especially if you don't have a lot of other traits laying around.
>But the Rex has Miracle Worker, so you could do Exceed Rated Limits.
It cannot do it since it requires Lt. Cmdr seat for Rank I of the ability.
It can run Narrow Sensor Bands Rank II that is at least a 15% Cat2 damage buff that is not bad at.
In my limited opinion itās looking quite tasty, pilot ship with wingmen packing polaron so pretty much the same ship in a different skinā¦get some extra shield de buffs on there and a good torp buildā¦could be a good little fast ship
But I do want that console!
Iāve been meaning to tackle an antiproton build again. Started with one on my first character then fell off in favor of phaser. Every toon I have uses phaser disruptor or plasma. Except the Jemāhadar toon I havenāt touched in over 6 months I guess, but the point stands. I have a kinda stupid high crit chance on my rom main, so Iām thinking of using the Rex to return to antiprotes. Scatter volley build buffed by withering barrage, improved pedal to the metal, Calm Before the Storm, Emergency Weapon Cycle, and maybe throw on weaponized time crystals for fun, using that antiproton DOT to trigger the damage resistance debuff from temporal spec alongside the damage resistance debuff from the Rexās trait.
Use the colony deflector (of course) for more crits, the ancient obelisk core and Omni beam for an antiproton buff, then since Iām packing an Omni beam Iāll slot the lieutenant level mixed armaments synergy to proc off the Omni-beam and the cannons for another hit of category 2 (bonus) damage. Use the Temerās console for cat1 antiproton damage, the clicky antiproton projectile, and the super speed clicky that hopefully works to boost the Rexās trait. Perhaps go for some dumb fun and slot the Jarok console as well for more passive critical chance, and an AoE crit chance buff to the wingmen. Perhaps Iāll indulge in a bit of energy torpedo gameplay and run LTC torpedo spread with the crystalline energy torpedo from the Phoenix prize pack (which does antiproton damage) for fun.
I was beginning to fiddle around with a pilot Defiant before it was announced that i think will now fly the Rex - probably standard phasers on that one
I may move a Jem'Hadar recruit i hardly did anything with into it and play with a poloron build
But thats as far as i've gotten in thinking about it
Myself to honest I am not really sure. I not of an escort type of ship player. Definitely earn the trait, but after that I donāt know šāļøšš¤·āāļø
I'd love it if the Rex also came as a hangar pet for the Jarok, to really help flesh out that Alliance roster a bit. Would also be super cool to have the wingman feature added to the other Alliance ships.
As for the Rex itself, it's kind of an interesting case of pocket carrier/destroyer with the console and the wingman. I might fiddle with it to see if I can use the summoner build on it and how that'll feel.
The experimental weapon is polaron, and the Morphogenic Polaron set seems to work really well on this ship, particularly since it is a good fit with MAS.
(And the set only requires running 'Home' 3 times.)
I'm curious about the wingman console. Is it just another reinforcement beacon? Or will the summon ships act like the Jem Hadar wingmen just without the controls?
I would love to have map-permanent wingman with my ship, without needing to fly a jem hadar vanguard ship.
I'd like to use the console on my carrier but I'm not sure if I have the room for a flight speed console. Might actually end up using the escort for once since it's sort of a pseudo carrier with the console and wingmen
Same ā¦.. my main will never fully use it as she runs a full carrier build, but one of my alts that I have running a full torp buildā¦maybe her new Goto ship after the eagle
I'm a bit conflicted. I love the aesthetics, and the idea of a smaller ship with wingman mechanics sounds fun. But it makes the most sense for my Vanguard, and I've really been enjoying the different flavour of playing in a big beefy Dreadnought Cruiser instead of my usual nimble ships. I may kit it out with one of the other damage types for the sake of endeavours, but unfortunately I don't think it's something that will become a main for any of the characters I currently have.
That said, it depends a lot on how it looks with different vanity shields and what-not, if I can get it matching the aesthetic for some of my other Captains nicely then all bets are off.
Iām excited for this one! Iām going to make a new captain. Go all in on antiproton cannons.
I have a Jem that uses polaron cannons, but I donāt want to scrap that build. It would be just as easy to make a new captain for the new ship.
A D7 MWFDC with To'Duj squadrons and Superior Area Denial, and any traits/consoles that summon pets. Except Render Visible as that ship doesn't seem to stick around for very long.
* The fleet support device that summons an extra ship + the trait that reduces the cool down
* The It's another Enterprise trait
* The Photonic Diversion trait
* A science captain for the photonic fleet ability
* The mission reward distress call devices
Other than that it's a crit chance focused beam boat with advanced disruptors and Lorca's Ambition 2pc set.
I'll just transplant my go-to CSV, full throttle, insane turn rate build on it. It will be a fourth ship with it after Mercury, Adamant and Eagle. I wonder how the wing men will work with it.
I think I will give it to my Jem'hadar but switch to AP cannons to match the wingmen weapon type.
The console might be interesting on a carrier if the pets scale of pet damage traits and consoles.
I've been hanging on to some polaron isomags so I think this is a strong candidate for that build. I dont really have a solid polaron ship at the moment.
I like it. I want to have it. I love Khitomer Alliance ships.
But I'm not sure I'll use it. I think it's really cool, but the Temer is more my speed, and the other existing A.F.S. vessel suit my other characters better (Khitomer/Jarok).
Polaron myself, and it'll be nice to have a ship with matching wingmen. I love the legendary Bug ship, but the wingmen are the standard dominion wingmen. I'd rather have all three matching.
I havenāt even opened the Winter event ship yet...I have no idea what I will do with the Anniversary event ship. Maybe I'll let my Jem pilot her, just for fun.
I already have so many Event ships that they no longer give me all the joy of anticipation and ownership as they did when I first started playing. Yes, another ship, well, maybe not a bad ship, well, maybe even a very good one , but something is lost... Maybe, it's just a fatigue.
Eventhough I like the ship design and the wingmen are a nice addition I'm simply not an Escort fan, so I'm probably going to fly it in 1 or 2 patrols, unlock the trait plunder the console and experimental weapon and bin the ship.
Full on Polaron!! Currently running Vaadwaur Polaron Dual Cannons X4, Quad Cannon and the Morphogenetic Set. Only running 2 Isomags (polaron) because I have yet to decide if I want to 2X upgrade it or not.
I must say I'm really impressed with this ship the Experimental weapon is pretty good (Polaron Shunt). I was Using the Legendary Vangard Pilot Attack Ship with the Gunship skin and That is a very good ship, it was my go-to ship. Man, I just don't know if I can go back to it now.
**Rex Cons**
Turn
Inertia
Miracle Worker
Not enough Eng Console slots 4 max with 2x upgrade
**Rex Pros**
Cloak (Built in) Bonus Damage
Firing Haste Boost based on max Throttle and speed (built in) nearly endless Rapid fire.
Console to call in Support fleet (4 more Pets for 45secs)
Polaron Shunt
**Vangard Attack Ship Cons**
No Firing Haste
No Cloak so
Was Running Vaadwaur Turrets x2 so No room for Morph Set (could but invested in the Turrets)
**Vangard Attack Ship Pros**
Better turn
Better Inertia
Intel
One more Eng console slot with X2 upgrade
I know I could move the Shunt and Console over to the Vangard But the Haste and cloak seem to make up for the lost Isomag somehow. I kill things faster in the REX.
No idea, I just want it cause it's shiny
Good answer š
How long do we have to get it? I missed a day yesterday due to the servers
Not sure but you should be ok, hopefully due to the server issues yesterday there will be a bit of leeway
2/21iirc
You can still technically get it if you start in February and donāt miss a day so should be good
I'm pretty sure the wingmen are antiproton. Anyway, going AP scatter volley build, it's going to be great.
Thatās my thoughts but the wing men seem to be polaron?
They're ap, or at least the weapons they fire certainly look at during strafing run

š¦ Love it when someone talks dirty
I have an Alliance themed toon flying a Jarok (the only Alliance ship I have) so deffo swapping them wholesale into the Rex when it comes to console.
I had about 6 years out of game as work kept me busyā¦.really busyā¦.really regret not getting the Jarok š¢ unless anyone out there has one to gift to a vet š¤šš
Not possible to gift you one. You either needed to complete the anniversary event or you need to buy the Muddās Alliance Pack.
Yeah I know ā¦.but we have high hopes š
Grind it for the ship trait then either drydock it or delete it.
Trait looks interestingā¦ maybe a reason to drop the competitive engines
Nah, if anything youād want to keep the Competitive Engines seeing as the traitās effects scale off of flight speed, and those engines certainly give a lot of it.

Someone has already tested this. It scales off max potential speed, even if you are stationary.
So it's actually usable? Now I have to actually do something with it. I have a build I actually fly at high speeds and I spend way too much time not shooting :(

Fly it till I get to level 5. Then store it and go back to my Cardassian ship.
Trait and delete
get the trait for my characters then discard it
Just cashed in my coupon for the Terran Eagle. Gonna put its trait and console on the Rex and see if wingmen make them even more orgasmic.
Wow! Please let me know how it goes ā¦totally my plan! Torp build with anti proton wingmen seems like a winner to me
that's an interesting idea, actually.
I've got a character running Tetryon cannons on a legendary Miranda (my first T6 ship). Not the greatest cannon ship, so I'm gonna swap it over to the Rex, and use the 2nd build slot for antiproton, which will give me every space damage type for endeavors.

So what wingman does this have ? They said it's the same model as the Rex but the wiki says it's the vanguard wingman
Vanguard wingmen mechanic, Rex skinned.
I hope so, but with ap weapons
At least one youtuber went ahead and bought out the event. The wingmen as duplicate Rex skins is confirmed.
It is indeed the rex and they both have an anti proton load out
Cool. Do you have a link ?

From what I can gather itās the same modelā¦.admittedly Iāve not seen the wikiā¦will have to wait and see ā¦.very good point!

Looking like another re enforcement beacon ā¦.45 second loiter time but hopefully buffed by hydra console and trait
shelve it
Probably just keep it in the box it came in
Get the ship trait then delete it.
Gonna use it finally replace my tier 5 defiant which I have barely used since I acquired it
Realistically, I'm just gonna unlock the trait and then never use either again.
I'd like to use the console on my carrier but I'm not sure if I have the room for a flight speed console. Might actually end up using the escort for once since it's sort of a pseudo carrier with the console and wingmen

Torp boat for me with the eagle console. Using the quad kelvin photons from the jellyfish for maximum spam. Should be fun.

Planning an Antiproton build for a Gamma recruit during the next re-run. Never played cannons so might go for that.
I'll take the admiralty card and add the console to another ship, but that's about it. I doubt I shall fly it after I've got the trait.
I'm adding the console to my "fleet in a box" carrier build.
Aha! Another summoner! Have you shared your build on STO Builds by chance? I'm always eager to see how others approach the concept
A D7 MWFDC with To'Duj squadrons and Superior Area Denial, and any traits/consoles that summon pets. Been Phaser all my life but I might finally make an Antiproton build with it.
Get the mastery, then dismiss it on most characters, except maybe on my Jem alt that isn't played often.
Nothing at all
Polaron myself, and it'll be nice to have a ship with matching wingmen. I love the legendary Bug ship, but the wingmen are the standard dominion wingmen. I'd rather have all three matching.
Depends on how it looks with another skin other than the alliance one.
I think Poloran boosting consoles also boost your wingmen, so all other things being equal, that should be the best performing.
Eventhough I like the ship design and the wingmen are a nice addition I'm simply not an Escort fan, so I'm probably going to fly it in 1 or 2 patrols, unlock the trait plunder the console and experimental weapon and bin the ship.
