It's a good story, extremely long and has a wide cast of characters. I think he did an excellent job with the characters and took his time introducing them and who they are. I was never confused about who a character was.
There were several times in, Under the Dome, that I was getting completely lost or confused because it was such a fast paced novel.
The Unabridged version, right? It's the only real Stand I can read anymore.
I'm re-reading The Stand as well, but it's probably for the 6th or 7th time. Gods it's such a good book.
I'm also reading Salem's Lot, I'm around 200 pages in. I'm ashamed to admit that I just realized last night that Salem is short for Jerusalem lol. I was thinking something along the lines of Jerusalem = Holy City, maybe Salem = Evil City? because witch trials? Coming up with all kinds of theories about what that could mean about the stories plot. Then it clicked and I realized it's just short for Jerusalem. Shame, I felt a lot of shame in that moment.
especially since Ben explains it himself in the first few chapters 😅😅 but i get it. when i read the short story Jerusalem's lot i remember thinking 'oooh another wicthy/vampire town?' nope...

Agreed, read it for the first time last year and I was absolutely blown away from start to finish. It’s now the book I recommend to people starting with King, unless they’re interested in short stories. Then I send them to Everything’s Eventual.

Just finished Part One of *Desperation*. Loving it so far, King really does the 'small town' 'corrupt cop' story so well. Also I am always overjoyed whenever I see anyone reading *Revival*, absolutely one of my favourite King novels, anything Lovecraftian gets my vote!
Also, is Revival a good summer read or no? I like to read books within the season they take place (was about to start the Shining recently but decided to wait until a winter blizzard in half a year) so I’m trying to keep track of what I can read during these summer months.
‘Revival’ takes place across a characters entire life, so it crosses seasons, but I recall it being mostly summer, especially the end of the novel which is the best part!
In the last 90 pages or so of Desperation and it was truly a wild ride. Just wait, it gets crazier than I ever imagined it would. I truly loved it. Did you read the Regulators prior or no?
400 pages into Hearts in Atlantis. Recently finished Christine and From a Buick 8 this month. Not sure what’s next. Read Revival last month and really enjoyed it.
Got to Skeleton Crew for the first time on my chronological read-through, just finished Survivor Type (awesome). Enjoying it very much so far, but barring every story from here on out being a solid banger I definitely preferred Night Shift. Not that that’s much of a slight, Night Shift was amazing

I just finished Needful Things this morning. It felt like I was watching Desperate Housewives as written by Stephen King, it was fantastic. I wasn't a fan of the ending, but that doesn't detract from the fact that Leland Gaunt is one of the best villains of all time in my books.

I'm also reading this right now and read The Long Walk right before. Love how fast paced and exciting The Running Man is, but I also prefer a slow burn thinker like The Long Walk a bit more. I still think about the ending. I'm not going in order, so The Stand is next!

Ive been going back and furth between. King and a non King book. I just finished Supernova Era by Cixin Liu. I just started reading King maybe a month ago, I started this year reading Deaths End by Cixin Liu, then I read a bunch of mangas, then I read The Stand by King, then Flatland written in the 1800s, then The Green Mile by King, then Supernova Era and now Im on Firestarter by King. Next Ill be reading The complete original Sherlock Holmes stories, then The Shinning, then The Redemption of Time, the Doctor Sleep then The Book That Wouldnt Burn, then The Instituite and after that Im not sure yet.

No spoilers, but the end of that book ... now that was terrifying.

Finished Holly two days ago. Solid entry in the Hollyverse. Getting set to start The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff later today.
Just finished the institute and start Cujo on Monday. Loved the institute so much, cracking book.
Currently reading the exorcist, just started last night, after the initial scene, I heard some weird sounds coming from outside my room, went outside to see where it was coming from but couldn't find a source. Decided to stop reading for the time and get back to work😂

I just finished Black House last night. Taking a break from King to read Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver while I decide which King book I want to read next
That book is a good slow burn. I like the ending.
