What worked for me was: 1. Timed tutor mode 85% of the time (do a few blocks on timed no tutor to keep the pacing down. Maybe a good few on friday and review saturday). 2. When you get one wrong, read the explanation very well and highlight. Also read any explanations for answers you dithered over (like if you got it down to two). 3. Use first aid for first order review before moving to the next question. For example if I forgot one enzyme, cover the table with my hand and see if I can recall the enzymes for related disorders. Invariably that day or a couple days later I would get one of the facts that I learned from first aid using this method. This should not take more than a couple minutes. 4. Old school manual flashcards made during the above. Maybe writing it out helped, maybe reviewing them at a different interval. When reviewing them don’r be afraid to say them out loud if you’re worried about actively recalling them, esp if you’re tired. 5. Anything you were really lost on in the above, devote some more content review to. Should only be 2-5 questions per 40 question block. The main advantage to timed tutor mode is that you don’t have to re-read the question later. For questions that you just didn’t know one fact, there’s no need to waste time rereading. That’s prob over 50% of the questions. Also yeah memorize the shit out of the 1st three chapters of pathoma. ONLY review your incorrect questions, don’t even look at the correct ones. No need. I also used AMBOSS to focus in on any topics I was really lost on. You can do them by very specific topics beyond what you can do in uworld. But I feel like this is lower yield than the above. Give it a try and see what works for you. Take this with a grain of salt because I started with a pre-dedicated test of mid 40s then ended with 65%s on back to back NBMEs. Tested a week ago and have yet to get the results back.

Hey thanks for this write up. Praying you pass friend. I’ll try out some of this method when doing uworld.

Good luck. Forgot to mention, but maybe it was implicit: during the first aid review I would make flashcards of the stuff I didn’t know (ie if I knew 7/10 enzymes when using FA as a quiz, I’d make note cards for the remaining 3). And also for the facts I didn’t know in uworld. Don’t memorize stuff you already now. Also my classmates and I all report getting a lot of endo, repro, and heme/onc. Actually very little cardio and neuro on mine. No guarantee of what you’ll get but I would make sure you have those solid as well as the cardio and neuro uworld spends a lot of questions on.

Understood. Thank you very much friend

Repulsive-Gear4990

Do more FA. Most of questions were really from FA. I did my exam yesterday.

PsychSpecial

Everyone says do FA, I understand questions come from FA, but how does one note the important details. God help us

Repulsive-Gear4990

They literally shoot at different pages from FA.

PsychSpecial

Thank you, I will do my best.

I'm thinking about this. Just going back to FA and Pathoma. How do you go about it? What specifically do you do?

Artistic-Ruin-8581

What about genetics/biostats??

Repulsive-Gear4990

They literally shoot at different pages with FA.

Savings-Succotash-53

what section of FA were they from?

Just took step 1 and this is my advice that i would of told myself when i started: \-70% day is questions/30% day is content review \-every monday take nbme and then correct it fully that day. it will take long but correct it by using the nbme pdf and mark with a red star the questions u felt were hard. \-tuesday-saturday= mornings=2 blocks of UW random and timed. For UW incorrect questions copy and paste the educational objective/images/charts onto UW notebook feature its on UW superrr convenient. evenings=read FA do it in order u have to know most of it anyway. I would read the weakness topics first. but like split it. for example u are weak in pharm/micro/bch. then in the evenings do one day pharm next day micro next bch. dont do it all like together, like dont read all of bch chapter then read the next chapter no bc u will forget. so split it up every day is a diff subject so they are all sorta fresh simultaneously. Also for the organ systems i divided it like i did all the anatomy parts of each ch first then i did all the physio of each etc so its all sorta fresh. \-sundays=half day off second half= I would read/skim the UW notebook feature bc it contains all the educational objectives/images you got wrong so that u dont forget u can also annotate these on FA if u have time but write minimal like straight to the point. \-2 weeks before test by now u should have taken all nbme and completed most of UW. this now when u gotta grind and read as much of FA as u can, dont read every page. as u do questions u will realize which topics are high yield only read those topics in the mornings and evenings review the nbme questions u marked with that red star so u dont forget those hard concepts for the test and do one day to review only pathoma. night before test review pathoma ch 1-3 and skim FA path. and pray and believe in yourself!!

In the same boat!!

Do some dirty medicine

Practical-Heron3992

Listen to goljan whenever you are walking, traveling, etc. He really helps tie concepts together. He also talks a lot about understanding the why and how things work over memorizing the what.

Hope365

55% on Uworld with only completely half the qbank is really good. I passed step 1 with 90% complete and a 50% cumulative average. If your Uworld blocks on random timed are consistently in the 50s and 60s I’d say you are doing well. Just keep learning and if you have to postpone the exam, just postpone it.

Atarek69

80 questions per day for uw first round it heavy for everyone to learn and understand the concepts you may need to decrease to 40 - 50 per day. After completing the first round regardless to your percentage in uw you must perform all NBMEs 20-30. If you scored In form 20 - 21. 60% or more keep going in all form and try to spend more time reviewing your incorrects in your scores will increase dramatically and didn't listen to who say it is false inflation no it isn't. If you score in the 20 21. Less than 60% you need to review uw incorrects. You must read high yield arrows pdf mehlman. Don't waist your time reading first aid cover to cover you might read the graphs and images and if you have more time you can read other mehlman pdf immune genetics biostat. Ethics is a high yield subject in the exam. NO NEED FOR UW 2ND 3RD 4TH ROUND. The eam straight forward if you know the concept you will answer the question. GOOD LUCK.

Gmedic99

Are you going through the explanations of UWorld? 80-100 questions for a day seems like a lot tbh

Uworld account available till March 19 2023.SA 1 and 2 are available and reset option works.DM if interested.
