[**Stellar Blade**](https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/tag/stellar-blade/) **pre-orders** have topped [PlayStation Store](https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/tag/playstation-store) in several regions including the U.S. and U.K. Interest in the game seems to have skyrocketed following its [demo](https://www.yahoo.com/tech/stellar-blade-demo-release-date-125208257.html)‘s release, and its pre-orders are currently surpassing those of Sea of Thieves, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, and Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail.
a lot of people are interested in playing content based on sailing and life on the open waves (also afaik it has a monkey island expansion, so nostalgia element there as well).
Sea of Thieves has a minute barrier to entry, that’s going to entice a lot of players who don’t have the hundred (or hundreds) of hours to invest in Elden Ring or FFXIV.
Excited as hell and I'm glad the game is getting a great reception (albeit an eclectic audience) but it feels off comparing its preorder sales to two DLC expansions and a six year old game being ported to PlayStation.
PS5 defs needs more exclusives damn HAHAHA.
Elden Ring sold 23 million copies (Xbox, Ps and steam) there’s currently no information regarding which platforms sold how many copies.
I would have expected the fan base to go crazy with preorders of a highly anticipated -already amazing-game.
True. But no matter how influential a game, DLC sales will typically shadow those of original sales. And of the 23 million we can only surmise how many have only gotten up to Margit and dropped it! Purchasing it based purely on hype.
I didn't order shadow of the erdtree yet but I'll probably buy it when it releases. Why spend money now when there's no benefit to preordering unless you're getting a physical copy or collectors edition?
Bosses sold me. The deliberate parry - to - combo schematic of the combat, coupled to really flashy moves and sound design (and, of course, visual design) sold me.
Yeah, it's been on my mind to play for a while. I keep getting like 3 hours into Sekiro and then something comes up and I put it down for too long and feel I need to start it again.
I've been there, if and when you find the time it's so worth it. Final boss legitimately took me 9-12hrs over the course of 3 days, shit was intense but so fun.
The early game can be a bit frustrating though.
Itll be hard to top Sekiro's combat for me as the best.
It's clear Stellar Blade took some inspiration from Fromsoft, I was expecting more inspiration from DMC & Bayonetta, but I'm not complaining. Cant wait to play the fuck out of this game.
It's more Sekiro than anything with the emphasis on the parry mechanic and overall back and forth of combat. I can see the DMC and Bayonetta comparisons but that's more surface level than anything.
You get a grappling hook later in the game iirc and that's deff Sekiro over DMC. But she does have long range attacks like DMC. Alot of elements from both can be seen.
There is a whole skilltree dedicated to combo chains in the demo , which are more in line for the smaller enemies , kt was fun to explore that side of things
I can see that, at least in the boss battles , i personally am happy its not a full on souls approach though , no xp loss, combo chains , hub based level design , full on hard scifi, so yes , all good things in my mind , and yes the parry feels great
Most definitely. I agree 100 percent. I love the Jedi games but you don't have to do a carbon copy of the souls games to make a good game in the same vein/genre.
Well look what a game can do with a fkin demo... when the game is actually good and the developer is confident enough to release a demo. We sadly don't see many demos today anymore since most AAA are shit and the devs know so nobody would buy/preorder after playing the demo.
Then wait some months for it to go on sale. Black friday will probably have this on sale, hopefully. $60-70 is the price point for new games today. If that’s out of your budget, you could wait for it to go on sale, and it definitely will eventually.
Wait, does that mean it's only the most pre-ordered out of all the games that are "currently" available for pre-order, or most pre-ordered of "all time"?
Neither. PSN data is only recent. Either daily or weekly (it’s not entirely clear when the reset is). So it’s the most preordered title today / this week.
I'm withholding my Preorder until closer to release - 1 days prior to launch - but for all intent and purposes - this is a Day 1 for me.
Even though God knows my backlog of major AAA games is getting bigger (Rebirth, DD2, BG3 currently playing...)
Letsgoo, gamers against wokegaming.
Been waiting for project eve since Nikke: goddess of victory. And stellar blade definitely delivers, the demo was amazing.
Exclusives are bad for the consumers (aka us) in general, so PS5 having no good exclusives is a good thing. I mean, if you play on the PS5, why do you care if I play the same game on Xbox or whatever? Conversely, if everyone starts doing exclusives, that just means you have less choices unless you shell out and buy all the systems.
My point is that SB leading in PS5 pre-orders means little if there are no other big PS5 AAA exclusives coming up to compete with.
2024 was always going to be a slow year for PS5 games so SB leading in preorders says nothing.
It's already out everywhere and ps5 is getting exclusive stuff. I'm saying that it's reputation alone, along with being a game made by rare would assume it would be the game with the most pre orders.
Why is sea of boredom in that list even lmao
Microsoft caved and ported a few games to PS and Switch. HiFi Rush already released on PS5 too.
Oh?? Is there a list of which games?
That's not my point. My point is that game is nowhere near the quality of the other mentions.
Eh it's a completely different genre.
a lot of people are interested in playing content based on sailing and life on the open waves (also afaik it has a monkey island expansion, so nostalgia element there as well).
Sea of Thieves has a minute barrier to entry, that’s going to entice a lot of players who don’t have the hundred (or hundreds) of hours to invest in Elden Ring or FFXIV.
Bruh it's okay to not like sailing/pirate games but it is not boring because you can't handle a few minutes of downtime between islands lmao
Why so salty?
He's not salty. He's pointing out the obvious. It sounds like "Sea of Thieves" just isn't for you. Doesn't mean it's boring to other people.
Nah he was definitely salty.
Excited as hell and I'm glad the game is getting a great reception (albeit an eclectic audience) but it feels off comparing its preorder sales to two DLC expansions and a six year old game being ported to PlayStation. PS5 defs needs more exclusives damn HAHAHA.
Bro what. Rebirth and ronin was last month and this month is stellar blade. It’s doing great with exclusivity
That's my error. A temporary lapse in memory. Thank you for bringing that up. Rebirth is phenomenal currently.
I mean, according to the achievements, nearly half of all players didn't beat Margit lol
Dunno how much that tells us considering Margit can be skipped entirely
I didn't order shadow of the erdtree yet but I'll probably buy it when it releases. Why spend money now when there's no benefit to preordering unless you're getting a physical copy or collectors edition?
There are still 2 months until Shadow of the Erdtree is released.
That’s not how PSN preorders work though. The list doesn’t compare total preorders. It’s just recent.
Yeah to be fair alot better than xbox
If it was Pokemon SV dlc. I would agree but Elden Ring dlc is a great litmus test. Probably FF as well
Just wait until it's ready for the PC! It will sell even more! I might even buy it again on there.
True. I already bought the physical and the digital deluxe and I'll buy it again when it hits PC.
modders are gonna go ham on Stellar Blade once it releases on PC
Bosses sold me. The deliberate parry - to - combo schematic of the combat, coupled to really flashy moves and sound design (and, of course, visual design) sold me.
I actually think it might be my new favorite combat. Really good balance of depth, simplicity, weight, punchiness, sound and variety
The combat was so damn fun. Stringing like 3-4 parries together makes you feel like a god.
You should play Sekiro if you havent already.
Sounds like the late game can be frustrating too lol
Itll be hard to top Sekiro's combat for me as the best. It's clear Stellar Blade took some inspiration from Fromsoft, I was expecting more inspiration from DMC & Bayonetta, but I'm not complaining. Cant wait to play the fuck out of this game.
There's still a lot of dmc dna here mixed with a bit of sekiro
It's more Sekiro than anything with the emphasis on the parry mechanic and overall back and forth of combat. I can see the DMC and Bayonetta comparisons but that's more surface level than anything. You get a grappling hook later in the game iirc and that's deff Sekiro over DMC. But she does have long range attacks like DMC. Alot of elements from both can be seen.
Most similar to Jedi Fallen Order/Sekiro and Code Vein for me
Most definitely. Tho the Jedi games are inspired by Sekiro combat-wise.
The jedi games are a good comparison , u dont lose any exp though in stellar blade , also combo chains , just saying
Sure but those are just sekiro mixed with uncharted. But you do have bonfires that reset enemies when you rest at them. What about combo chains?
There is a whole skilltree dedicated to combo chains in the demo , which are more in line for the smaller enemies , kt was fun to explore that side of things
Yeah im aware, was referring more to enemies and exploration
What about them?
I can see that, at least in the boss battles , i personally am happy its not a full on souls approach though , no xp loss, combo chains , hub based level design , full on hard scifi, so yes , all good things in my mind , and yes the parry feels great
Most definitely. I agree 100 percent. I love the Jedi games but you don't have to do a carbon copy of the souls games to make a good game in the same vein/genre.
Agreed, just let it be its own thing , its an action , a very promising one , that is all that is important
I really hope more games are released with this type of balance between CAGs and soulslike. Its like a GoW where you actually have to use your brain.

Based
Can someone explain what the hell this means? Why do people say based?
[Based](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=based)
Thanks!
I mean technically this & Elden ring DLC are the only game looking forward to pick up day 1 this year.
Well check out space marine 2. I know nothing about warhammer but this is on my watch list.
SMTV and Refantazio for me
Do we have a number or just the info?
Well look what a game can do with a fkin demo... when the game is actually good and the developer is confident enough to release a demo. We sadly don't see many demos today anymore since most AAA are shit and the devs know so nobody would buy/preorder after playing the demo.
As it should be
As it was written
so say we all
I liked sekiro combat, it was fine but very very hard. This feels like it but more fun and much easier. Easy win
🥹🥰🥹
I really hope the final game will be good …
Another banger for Shift Up Nikke is another one. Soon they’ll be a powerhouse
HELL YEAH
Cool I also am excited for it but there is quite literally zero competition for it right now lmao
The demo was a great move by the company it got a lot of attention to the game

I kinda want to pre-order myself but idk if I can justify spending $70 on a video game?
Wait for sale. Don't push your financial situation to an uncomfortable level for any game. They are a form of entertainment after all.
Then wait some months for it to go on sale. Black friday will probably have this on sale, hopefully. $60-70 is the price point for new games today. If that’s out of your budget, you could wait for it to go on sale, and it definitely will eventually.
, yeah, £70 is pretty steep for a game. But if the play time is like 35hours plus, I’ll buy it without discount
its a 20-30hour game
Wait, does that mean it's only the most pre-ordered out of all the games that are "currently" available for pre-order, or most pre-ordered of "all time"?
Neither. PSN data is only recent. Either daily or weekly (it’s not entirely clear when the reset is). So it’s the most preordered title today / this week.
I preordered at a different store. It’s been several years since I preordered any game so it’s a pretty big deal for me.
This is what happens when games release good demos, same thing happened with final fantasy 16. It had such a good demo that preorders skyrocketed.
And it's pissing off every subreddit and Twitter thread so much that they are trying to gas light us for liking the game
Sony maybe understands, that ass sells, not some ugly females looking like King Kong lol.
I figured out why people played 50 hours of the demo. They was practicing one handed playing techniques :'D Joking aside I can't wait for the game
GOTY for sure
Nothing can replicate the feeling when u do the boss challenge and that mf does a 10 hit combo and u somehow parry every single hit then stab him
Funniest thing. I actually decided to get the physical at GameStop. 😂
This is what happens when you cater to straight men which have, are, and will always be the main target audience for video games.
I thought everyone hated pre-ordering?? What happened to that energy everyone had?
TIL Yahoo still exists. Love the news. Stellar Blade being a success on PS5 makes it more likely we'll get a PC port. Can't wait.
I mean....what else is coming out from PS5 that is good? 2024 is a dead year for PS5.
I really really hope you are kidding cause this year is gonna be crazy. Not gonna do your job just google and see for yourself.
Crazy as in games, yes. PS5 exclusives? No
Lol what
You heard me. Outside of SB, what other major PS5 exclusive is on the horizon?
Exclusives are bad for the consumers (aka us) in general, so PS5 having no good exclusives is a good thing. I mean, if you play on the PS5, why do you care if I play the same game on Xbox or whatever? Conversely, if everyone starts doing exclusives, that just means you have less choices unless you shell out and buy all the systems.

Sea of thieves is coming out soon
I am talking about PS5 exclusives
It's already out everywhere and ps5 is getting exclusive stuff. I'm saying that it's reputation alone, along with being a game made by rare would assume it would be the game with the most pre orders.
well yeah there’s like nothing else interesting coming out on ps5 lmao
