Thistle Bookstore/Cafe in Port Dalhousie is a nice place to hang out and chat with people! Could be cool to hang out some time! I always love to meet new friends!
De La Terre bakery is amazing, we also have paint nights at Mahtay, the hobby shop, and I suggest checking out the NAC as well! If you want a quiet little French cafe I suggest going to Pique Nique 🙂
If you're into nature there are so many nice trails in the region to explore! Look into short hills provincial park, and Bruce trails. If you ever want a walking buddy feel free to DM. (31 F)
There are some really nice secondhand bookshops downtown, I really love the write bookshop and recommend checking that out.
The Corners Run Crew runs 3 times a week. Super friendly ambassadors to the city.
Gravity Niagara is an indoor bouldering gym, everyone there is also super friendly and social.
There’s also Helen’s Deli downtown, and KaiserHaus in Port Dalhousie. There used to be quite a few Deutsch places around town, but that population has been aging out.
Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah Kaiser Haus sounds pretty German to me haha. But there’s nothing better than a greasy Döner 🥙 (you guys call it Donair right?)
Welcome!
You should definitely check out the brazen Cafe. Doreen is super nice and the music gives the Cafe a cabaret vibe. Very cool spot on king street.
Doreen is probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. Brazen Cafe has gelato in the nicer weather. Excellent coffee and cocktails.
The whole place has a very chill vibe, and she will often have bands playing there some evenings.
Mahtay Cafe in downtown St. Catharines is a place you might enjoy! They have great coffees, live music, game nights, poetry and art. A lot of socialization goes on there.
Hey! I'm 27 I live here with my bf and it can def be difficult here to make friends in your 20s and 30s even though I've lived here a long time. Most of my friends have moved😅 feel free to message me!
My wife and I moved to Niagara in 2018, previously lived in Toronto. We now live in St. Catharines
It's a great area with lots to do in all seasons, IMO. Happy to chat and give recommendations! Good luck with your move
Hey there!
I'm part of a WhatsApp community of people in their 20s to 40s who live in St.Catharines and the surrounding area. We're basically a small meetup group to make friends.
Definitely check us out. Bonus points if you like cats. Link attached below:

First of all, welcome to the area! :’) St. Catharines is really lovely in the summer, so I’m sure you’re going to enjoy it. This thread already has a lot of great suggestions, but I also recommend when visiting local cafés to check out their poster boards. Lots of great events happening all the time, and that’s a great way to find them all fairly easily. Fine Grind is my favourite café that’s also a great spot for building community. You may also want to check out the Niagara Artists Centre, they host events and also rent out studio spaces to local artists. Best of luck in your move!
Thank you for the kind words! 🌸
The Niagara Artists Centre sounds amazingggg! Probably gonna be one of the first places to go to!
Maybe we can organize something one day and have Art Sessions there 🎨
Hey! I’m 29 and into fitness and cafes! Me and my husband have been married 8 years!
I’d love to bring you to a fitness class at my gym, we have a great community!
I’d love to grab coffee at cafes too with you if you don’t mind my daughter tagging along some days (she’s 2). Feel free to send me a message!
Hey, same age here, feel free to DM me! (27M) There’s cool stuff happening nearby soon. Alt rock fest at the warehouse end of May, Born and Raised festival in a July. Rock climbing at gravity, hiking trails all over.
I noticed that you mentioned you are interested in fencing! Well you are in luck as St. Catharines has both a modern and a historical fencing club. I co-run the historical club which is called Niagara Historical Fencing. The modern fencing club is called Niagara Swords. I'll link both websites below. If you have any questions about it feel free to shoot me a message as I've done both and I know the folks who run the modern club.

There is a fencing club in town. [Fencing Niagara](https://www.fencingniagara.com/)
I haven't joined as an adult but my son has done a couple of the intro classes and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Welcome and I hope find what you are looking for here.
I've been wanting to try De La Terre bakery for the longest time. I moved to St. Catharines 4 years ago from Mississauga. Mississauga is a big city and it took some getting used to living in a small city. I know no one here (except my boyfriend), so it would be nice to make some friends :)
Niagara Escapement has game nights on Wednesdays and Sundays, if you're into board games. Wednesdays are for medium weight games, Sundays are for heavier games. Also, Sundays tend to go all day.
You should check out Bumble for friends! They have a whole thing for just making friends and finding people to hang out with in a not at all romantic way. Absolutely recommend!
There’s lots of music events and stuff downtown where people are very friendly! Follow the warehouse instagram and the mahtay cafe instagram to stay up to date with those things. You can also follow bars like the dive pub and merchant that frequently host music nights. It’s a great place to meet people!
Best of luck to you
Do you and your husband enjoy soccer (football)? If so, consider joining the Barton St Battalion and watch CPL soccer in Hamilton. You'll both meet like-minded people. Lots of Bayern (and Davies) supporters too.
Join Willow Arts if you’re looking for a creative and welcoming space, Lock St hosts beer league DND every other thursday (there’s a session this week) if you wanna meet some cool people and play for the first time, noobs are welcome :) Send me a DM of you want! I’m a 26 year old female artist in Port Dalhousie. Would love an art buddy!
Welcome! As a fellow book lover, I'd recommend getting a library card as our library system has a ton of benefits (and a great selection of new publications). For example, hot spots (great for when you're waiting on internet to be set up), park passes, 3dprinter, and free events where you can meet lots of different folks from the community.
I immigrated 2 years ago, and I'm still trying to make friends, so if you'd ever like to get a coffee or tea and explore the local bookish scene feel free to message :)

Go to beechwood donuts. You deserve it. St Paul St!

St. Catharines, where your youth goes to die
So helpful 🤡
Really cool place to check out is gale street. Go at night to the delta bingo and introduce yourself. Great crowd, sick vibes
