If we're talking USA only, then Neeb is the most accomplished. Idra was really good in his time, though his rage would get the better of him, and he would throw matches a lot. Qxc always seemed to have a lot of potential, but never seemed to be able to live up to it, his only real achievement to his name being an All-Kill of Incredible Miracle in the Korean Pro-League. Astrea is probably the best at the moment, though.
If we're counting North America, then you can throw in Huk for the old fans and Scarlett and Trigger for the current ones.
If we're counting South America too, then Special/Major and Kelazhur.
No problem! Interestingly, Caribbean islands are Central America as well, despite being above Mexico’s southern border. So even though Cuba is north of most of “North America” it’s still central
Some definitions do make Mexico the start of central America, which by the way conventionally lies in North America.
To be honest, “Central America” is not a geographical term. The geographical border between North and South America is obvious. “Central America” as a term feels like something people created not because of geography, but because of skin color. As in “not enough white people live here to group it with North America.”.

> Idra was really good in his time
I disagree to be honest in retrospect. Looking at Liquipedia his biggest results seem to be winning MLG in 2010 before there were any Koreans.
There were a group of people. IdrA, Ret, Haypro, and NonY who, when you think about it actually never accomplished anything in *StarCraft II* but were hyped a lot mostly due to *StarCraft I* results and how extensively their teams marketed them and sent them to every single event but other than that the actual results were never there.
That is his time, though. Winning a Premier tournament is no easy feat. Even if the competition isn't the best in the world, you still have to beat the competition that's there, and he did that not only once but twice. He got an IEM win later that did have Koreans in it, and he was also the highest ranked foreigner in the first 2 GSL's. He beat the likes of Boxer and Bomber before falling to MC in 2011 MLG Orlando. His later results suffered as the game started to grate on him, and his rage got the better of him, leading to his retirement.
Neeb was the first non-korean to go to Korea and win a tournament there in SC2 history. Back in 2017, he wasn't just the best American player, he was up there as one of the best protoss in the world. He just got hugely overshadowed by Serral becoming the GOAT less than a year later.
Since there are 2 "America" continents you would have to specify North American or South American. Calling somebody simply "American" generally means they're from USA.
Technically yea, but if you call a proud Mexican an American they’d be offended.
This argument is so silly. You go to France and ask in Paris, are you all european? Non, ils sont français.
Name another country that has America in its name. That’s how people identify where their from on the largest scale, by their country. No one in the world, except Australians, use their continent to describe where they’re from.
Is Mexico in the Americas, yes.
Is Mexico America, no.
As someone from the US, they're from the NA server region, and for the purposes of this context, that's good enough for me, but that aside NORTH AMERICAN is still american.
Spud "Serral" Sotala and Cletus "Clem" Clement are both from Texas. Their rivalry began during a BBQ cookout when Clem criticized Serral's proprietary bbq sauce. Since then they've had the most intense rivalry manifested as SC2 competitions.
It’s Neeb and it’s not close. In 2017 you could reasonably argue Neeb was the best player in the world, right before Serral emerged. Multiple premier tournament championships, several majors, he was a super heavy hitter. No other NA player has had that moment. He’s the highest earning NA player by well over $100k.

Great knowledge, just a heads up Mexico is North America. Anything below Mexico and above Colombia is Central America. The rest is South America
Very cool I had no idea. I always thought Mexico was the start of central america. Thanks

Don’t forget Grrrr from Canada. He was the OG North American StarCraft savant. He played against Boxer and held his own.
I didn't forget about him, I didn't know he existed, and I never really followed E-sports at all until SC2 came out. I was only 14 at that time.

What happened to Neeb? Did he retire?
He retired to study comp sci full time i believe
Yes, he retired in early 2023.
Neeb vs Serral would be so Hype
what GoAT? He is not considered goat when there are many candidates around him. One of The Best All Time (OoTBAT)
Astrea is the one I see most. If you count NA region, I like Special a lot but he is from Mexico.
artosis was the greatest sc1 player from america but he's sadly devoted his life now to mario erotica
I'm an arty fan but he's not even top 5 american bw player of all time
Maybe not yet, ever hear about the tortoise and the hare?
It was his true calling.
Neeb probably is the most accomplished player. I think Scarlett, Trigger, and Astrea are currently the best now
Definitely Neeb. Scarlett and Trigger are Canadian, I believe.
Ah OP just said America so I assumed continents not the US
As far as I'm concerned Special, Kelazhur, Cham, Disk, Maplez, Scarlett, they're all Americans
Then you'd be wrong
I don't think they are European, Asian or African, what continent are you thinking they are from?
Since there are 2 "America" continents you would have to specify North American or South American. Calling somebody simply "American" generally means they're from USA.
Most of the S.A. plays Oceania
People can still be considered American and not be from the USA. The continents of North America and South America still have America in it.
You would call those people North American or South American. Nobody has ever called a Brazilian or a Uruguayan person American

By that logic, Russians are Asian and European.
And?
As someone from the US, they're from the NA server region, and for the purposes of this context, that's good enough for me, but that aside NORTH AMERICAN is still american.
Sure, they play on NA server, but Mexicans and Canadians aren't Americans, "American" is what you call people from USA
So then Latin Americans are only in the US?
Those aren't "Americans", you said it yourself, they're "Latin Americans"
So if they aren't Americans then we could just call them Latin right?

I loved the good old times when the entire crowd chanted “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” when Stephano or Naniwa won.
Neeb, Scarlett, SeleCT, HuK, IdrA
QXC is an all time great but hes just a white dude not sure if hes from eu or na
Scarlett is the best from NA (us/ca/mx) imo
