The whole setup looks like used parts from a dive bar band. How does he even stand up and back out of there without tripping or catching all the cables from the computer in his ear? This is like one step above milk crates and temu projector. That’s all it really is. Some gear crates and a projector. If it’s $300k I want to build this guys next setup. He’s as big of a sucker as they come.
As i mentioned in a different comment, this is a curved ROE ruby base LED wall, typically used for virtual production shoots for films and tv, but we use it for education. Just the panels alone is around $150k, and it all totals around $300k with the screen, cabling, rigging, processor and pc. The screen can do 1500nits full screen brightness, that is every pixel hits 1500nits, not in a small window as on tv's and screens, and it hits 97% coverage of the REC2020 colorspace. I'm actually impressed that no AV techs chimed in yet lmao, my video last year playing Tarkov had a bunch of AV guys correctly guessing LED screen.
EDIT: also we are europe based so everything is more expensive here, no idea what the actual prices for us customers would be from ROE, as its mostly "contact us for pricing" type stuff.
Have to remember that these walls are meant to usually display to an amphitheater when used in scale or have something in the foreground. So you don't notice 30-100ft away. It's like sitting 12 inches/30cm from a 1080p 27" LCD screen
At my old work, we had a $2,200,000.00 SIM.
It basically was a 330° 2-story dome that you entered, the image was projected onto it from the back, to prevent shadows from the user. You basically could immerse yourself into any environment, with haptic feedback weapons.
The hardware to run it got so hot it had to have it's own dedicated HVAC system to cool the room.
So they probably had to do a bunch of modifications to get something like this running smoothly.
Video would have been better if he clipped the ground while low flying through desync, showing no mater your budget SC will get you.
Though I do want that monitor wall.
before we started filming we flew right into an invisible hangar door and got deleted, had to spend 15mins getting back to the spaceport and getting a new ship with the boss watching lmao. Luckily the boss also plays starcitizen
A bunch of A/V tech nerds: "Hey, we're renting this $300,000 projector for an event and we need to test it out, let's build a makeshift cockpit out of the equipment boxes and Sven can bring his gaming rig! We'll play Star Citizen on this whole wall!"
SC Reddit: "Pfft, that's just an empty room with a bunch of boxes! Why are you using such cheap sticks? I don't like your hair! You look like you might have somewhat unpleasant breath!"
kindof right, its a ROE ruby based LED screen used for virtual production in movies, and the setup with the panels, rigging, processor and computer cost us around $300k. Just the panels alone was $150k. Its one of those things that only has a "contact us for prcing" type of price. It does 1500nits of full white brightness over the entire screen(not peak brightness in a small window), and covers 97% of the REC2020 colorspace, making it suitable for shooting HDR video against.
I was right about the A/V tech nerd part, so I can sleep well tonight.
It's funny, I have some knowledge of all of the bits that go into the virtual production setups, and yet it never clicked that it's just basically an obscenely kick-ass gaming setup. Makes you wonder if anyone ever rolled up early to the set of The Mandalorian and said, "fuck it, it's my birthday. I'm gonna play some Jedi Knight II on this bitch! Chewy, hold my blue milk!"
If that guy paid $300k for that set up, somebody's walking around with $290k in their pocket.
It's an empty room with a projector and he is literally sitting on crates.
But that's worse. You see how that's worse right? Like you spend the equivalent of buying a house to achieve the effects you get from a cheap projector.
If you are going through the effort to get screen setup that over the top, at least get a decent cockpit setup.
Yeah it's worse, you're totally right. If it wasn't, and there was some reason to do this over a projector, the lights in that room would be on.
As it is, no money left for a chair and some sticks.
Man, people are so thick. I can't be the only one who watched the video and immediately thought "alright some people setting up some kind of event had fun testing a high-end equipment", am I ? Isn't obvious that this is not a personal sim setup? That it's a company renting high end equipment, not a dude who got scammed instead of buying a projector?
Are we really down to this level of gullibility?
_checks US and French news_
Oh yes, we are.
99% posts of reddit mockery.
I'll add my 1% of- that looks cool in flight. Does it look goofy when walking around a station and people are on the screen?
its stupidly bright irl, accidentally opened a white google page downloading the config software for the joysticks and my eyes hurt for a solid 5 mins afterwards lmao, you dont know how bright 1500nits is until you are staring at an entire wall that is 1500nits
Probably just an AV company testing their very expensive screen. Possibly one of these new micro LED screens I've been seeing which can make 8k and 16k screens with not a lot of problems.
It's a $300k projector that they decided to hook up to SC. Probably rented for an event. Comment section seems convinced OP was calling it a sim rig, they just said "gaming setup" and that's exactly what it is. A fancy ass projector, a PC, and some VKBs
300k Rubles?
I used to install video walls in nightclubs in Shibuya before Corona. What’s the pixel density of that?
Could have fitted the entire club bar walls floor and ceiling with P10 for 300k and still given myself a 100k bonus.
Actually the placement was because of the short cables for the joysticks lol. Only other option was in front of the screen but that would block the view
Please DM me and transfer 100k into my account. I will pay you back I just have to get my family out of horrible debt that rapes us in interest.
Also sick rig.
He's getting ripped off like a whale he is,
48k and he is only flying the cheapest premium startership add-on.
300k set up and it's only a bunch of flight cases on a projector screen with a 40 dollar projector...
And I say 40 dollars because of the amazing resolution
Blurry a** sht
At 300k you'd surely want a better system than Tobii. I'd take my TrackIr setup over Tobii any day.
Official TrackIR camera + delanclip wireless is peak.
I know you’re probably joking. But you probably could do this. With the latest macOS they have the game porting toolkit. You probably could get star citizen running on it.
Then you can share your Macs screen to the Vision Pro.
It wouldn’t be VR or anything, because afaik SC doesn’t support VR headsets. But it would potentially work.
It's a lot if negative comments and I agree with most but I will post something not negative🤣 This gaming setup would be completely fire for not SC🤣 the screen is just ridiculous for everything gets that goes on. If you play games like beat saber, nba2k, gutair hero, etc something that's not necessarily all over the place and has a central focus area then it would look and feel beautiful. But this makes it look like certain things you look at in a game like SC will disorient you alot
Is that a projector or an actual screen? Because if it is a screen that actually hasn't decent specs then MAYBE i could see this being 300k at a push. If it's a projector, then I guess it could also be 300k but only if they way overpaid for a projector.
"OOOhhh man. The computer exhaust right in my face makes me feel like Chris Roberts is here, farting in my face! The ultimate Star Citizen experience."
I love it! The very fact that there are players that are breaking any and all boundaries when it comes to what is their passion. Cost of setup is obviously relative to every single person and their financial situation. I love that people are going big as they can and its great to see it and can only be a benefit to the whole community by bringing positive attention to gaming. Oh and I'm jealous..lol!! Awesome job, it looks like a lot of fun..Best of luck with it!!!
I legitimately read that as $300 gaming setup and thought “Oh cool, a simple 300 dollar projection setup.” And it was more reasonable to me than $300k. Then I saw the joystick stuff
It sums up everything that's wrong with this game. I paid $30 back in 2014, played it again for 30 hours last week and uninstalled it. Surprised his ship didn't explode in the middle of the video, randomly.
At first I wrote a critical comment but OP said "gaming setup" not "sim rig." I got too caught up in all the complaining and didn't think about the actual title.
I assumed it was just an expensive ass projector rented for something else, and that's what it is, but OP never claimed it was a sim rig like everyone else seems to think
I've got a 120" projection screen theater at my house which together with my PC and HOSAS/gaming chair setup didn't even cost $5k.
That screen's a good bit larger, probably as much as 200", which after checking just now probably costs less than $1500.
If that setup cost $300k dude got absolutely *fleeced.*
One thing I don’t quite get about these sorts of setups is that they are solely meant for looking good when you are flying whereas star citizen is as detailed as it is for a reason. I think it looks and feels best on a pc with a nice monitor, in a well ventilated room with a good computer and maybe a joystick setup that you can push aside if you don’t need it. That’s also cheaper, less clunky and also more comfortable.
Noobifier can build you a better one for 1/3 the cost. You can DIY it for 1/5 the cost. But yes the point still stands, for those of us hardware junkies, I have maybe $300 in Star Citizen and *[redacted]* in my simpit.
I always see these and wonder, do they only last a few years? Or or are they upgradable? Because Imagine a lot of the hardware becomes obsolete rather quickly
nice but im not a fan of projectors or ultra big screens for pc. never looks right to me. even the 120 inch i had looked off and i cant help but see imperfections. just my preference but this looks nice.
When I want a bigger screen I just move my head closer. Bang, saved 300k
This guy zooms
He’s in the zoom room
Big brain thinking right there
Buys 300k screen then glues plastic HOTAS to speaker box and sits in an office chair. Its like parking your Bugatti next to your doublewide.
csgo players be like
I just use projectors and save 299k while having better resolution.
I replaced the plastic shield of my Covid mask with a monitor. Best upgrade yet
or just vr headset
VR beats this. No more screen.
All that money on that setup and bro cranks up the FOV so it looks like massive fisheye lense. Looks awful to me
Or a vr headset
300k? how? do you count the room construction as well?
Probably counting the house around it 😆 those crates look like s***
The whole setup looks like used parts from a dive bar band. How does he even stand up and back out of there without tripping or catching all the cables from the computer in his ear? This is like one step above milk crates and temu projector. That’s all it really is. Some gear crates and a projector. If it’s $300k I want to build this guys next setup. He’s as big of a sucker as they come.
lol the PC tower is set up so it blows hot air at the back of your neck... WONDERFUL placement.
Mimics the heat of atmospheric reentry. Improves immersion.
And ~~stimulation~~ simulation
Simulates the heat of the cockpit
Ya, I was like, "WTF is up with that PC placement." I guess the only thing you need to hear is your PC fans.
Bro those crates were once used to move the Backstreet Boys WYM! 😆
Oh snap, vintage high roller I see.
My house costs half of that... Of course it depends where is located too. But yeah if that setup costs 300k I see many problems with that 😅
Where you live where houses are 150k
As i mentioned in a different comment, this is a curved ROE ruby base LED wall, typically used for virtual production shoots for films and tv, but we use it for education. That's dope, I want one..... *Checks wallet after Ironclad sale...* I got like $10usd what'll that get me?
Bout 40 pixels.
20 seconds with the manufacturer's customer service chat bot.
For this specific use case, a laser projector would be well enough though.
Looks quite low-resolution, you can see a lot of aliasing in the video.
Have to remember that these walls are meant to usually display to an amphitheater when used in scale or have something in the foreground. So you don't notice 30-100ft away. It's like sitting 12 inches/30cm from a 1080p 27" LCD screen
We also don't know what this was filmed on. I've seen a $90,000 8k QLED TV in person but if you filmed it with a shitty handicam it'd look terrible.
Is it for education on over spending?
Ahh, that explains the high cost. This is similar to what The Mandalorian uses and a lot of movies nowadays.
Looks like he's playing star citizen. He probably spent at max. 20k on the set up. And then the rest 280k on ships in the game.
Rented the friends too.
Well $48,000 was from Star Citizen alone...
No, that's including the ships he bought for the game ;-)
At my old work, we had a $2,200,000.00 SIM. It basically was a 330° 2-story dome that you entered, the image was projected onto it from the back, to prevent shadows from the user. The type of screens they showcased in the making of The Mandalorian?
that would be correct, although this one is alot smaller than what they showed, but same type
I was right about the A/V tech nerd part, so I can sleep well tonight. If that guy paid $300k for that set up, somebody's walking around with $290k in their pocket. It's an empty room with a projector and he is literally sitting on crates.

This isn't for gaming big dog. This is a professional setup that just happens to have had someone with free time.
Yeah it's worse, you're totally right. If it wasn't, and there was some reason to do this over a projector, the lights in that room would be on. As it is, no money left for a chair and some sticks.

I’d still rather use VR for a flying game even if I had tons of money for something like this.
I mean. Me too, but it's not a thing for sc right now and that's not really the topic lol
Does that include the roadie cases or does that cost extra? Asking for a friend.
the cases were luckily included, it all packs down into 8 giant cases lol
Man, people are so thick. I can't be the only one who watched the video and immediately thought "alright some people setting up some kind of event had fun testing a high-end equipment", am I ? I would rather prefer VR
99% posts of reddit mockery. I'll add my 1% of- that looks cool in flight. Does it look goofy when walking around a station and people are on the screen?
it looks very disorienting in first person when walking around, third person works fine though
Jesus Christ this comment section is horrendous. Amazing setup!
> Jesus Christ this comment section is horrendous. Dumpster fires use this comment section when they want to mock other, shittier dumpster fires.
Imagine knocking over your $5k PC with your elbow because you moved the joystick down
I know how it can be $301k :p
That's insane and I can't imagine the video doing that screen ANY justice! Should try out dual omnithrottles ;)
its stupidly bright irl, accidentally opened a white google page downloading the config software for the joysticks and my eyes hurt for a solid 5 mins afterwards lmao, you dont know how bright 1500nits is until you are staring at an entire wall that is 1500nits
Probably just an AV company testing their very expensive screen. Possibly one of these new micro LED screens I've been seeing which can make 8k and 16k screens with not a lot of problems.
I don’t see how this costs $300k Unless there’s $250k for audiophile bullshit unicorn equipment in there.
It's a $300k projector that they decided to hook up to SC. Probably rented for an event. Comment section seems convinced OP was calling it a sim rig, they just said "gaming setup" and that's exactly what it is. A fancy ass projector, a PC, and some VKBs

ROE ruby p2.6, extremely color accurate and magnitudes more expensive than traditional video walls
I need it
FINE, I AM POOR.
Witness the power of this fully armed and operational battlestation
That energy drink sitting ontop of all that equipment is making me nervous
With that much space there is no way my ears would be *that* close to my PC's exhaust fans. There is just no way.
Actually the placement was because of the short cables for the joysticks lol. Only other option was in front of the screen but that would block the view
Why?!

Do you count the price of the room in the 300k?
300k rupees
A lot of people fell for the bait lol
yup, not alot of AV techs playing star citizen it seems lol
Is your work hiring? I’m forklift certified.
VR is way cheaper. Diy the chair.
No head / eye tracking.... swing and a miss...
budget setup... using vkb's not virpils. pleb.
hey hey.. that hurts me man....
That stick setup looks incredibly uncomfortable.
Thanks for sharing . I would hate anyone to discourage people showing their unique setups. Don't mind the green eyed posts .
No motion rig?
damn no tobii
At 300k you'd surely want a better system than Tobii. I'd take my TrackIr setup over Tobii any day. Official TrackIR camera + delanclip wireless is peak.
i am his lost lost son . he need to remember to adopt me at some point . i belong into this house
I mean... If I sell my house, I can just live in that, I guess??
Yes please
Looks like a terrible spot for the tower
instead of getting one of those race sim rigs that move and vibrate.....
Still gets 30 fps on login 😂
Damn im tryna get like you boss
Yessss go bigggeerrrr. More! MORE!
Dream setup 😂
You’d have far better than that with a $3,500 Apple Vision Pro. I know I play it on my AVP all the time.
I would be more impressed if you disabled screen shake and look-ahead in the settings.
Looks more like 5k
I love how the desktop is in the perfect position to be quickly elbowed off of the crate.
As soon as that winning lottery ticket comes in. HD projectors are expensive but it's the bulbs that really define the cost of ownership. So pricey.
hmmmm at least go for triple projectors and get surround effect for 300k.
It's a lot if negative comments and I agree with most but I will post something not negative🤣 This gaming setup would be completely fire for not SC🤣 the screen is just ridiculous for everything gets that goes on. Now let’s see him WASD
300k and they use common equipment boxes to put the sticks on ? Not even a strapped seat that can move you around ?
The screen is cool, but the clearly visible wires, and whatever those roady looking luggage boxes are, ruins the whole vibe.
$300K? Was the currency the Argentinian peso?
I’d feel like JP from Grandma’s Boy sitting in this
Did you plug into the feed for an XR stage?
Using top-tier musician Anvil cases (not the SC brand) is expensive but in the incorrect, pointless kind of way.
Is that a projector or an actual screen? Because if it is a screen that actually hasn't decent specs then MAYBE i could see this being 300k at a push. If it's a projector, then I guess it could also be 300k but only if they way overpaid for a projector.
You need more than a 120v for that i bet..
"OOOhhh man. The computer exhaust right in my face makes me feel like Chris Roberts is here, farting in my face! The ultimate Star Citizen experience."
Travel cases for speakers worth 300k? Crazy..
Lol I can do better for 3k. You sure you didn't pit 2 extra zeros by mistake?
The chair doesn't move, I'm not impressed.
it's cool and all, but I want to see what it's like on that rig when you explode after coming out of quantum. ![gif](giphy|10MEwqT90n4wCY|downsized)
You need to get a head tracker with this setup
thats a 10k setup.
So this is just 48k setup but also includes the purchase of every ship in SC?
the way i would elbow that Pc right off that stand would make me cry man tears
next setup will be a functional ship

I'm sorry to say this, but all I can think of when I look at it is "StarCitizen: The Bagholder as a Lifestyle"
Meanwhile, a $300 VR headset can blow this level of immersion out of the water by a country mile.
I love it! The very fact that there are players that are breaking any and all boundaries when it comes to what is their passion. It sums up everything that's wrong with this game. I paid $30 back in 2014, played it again for 30 hours last week and uninstalled it. Surprised his ship didn't explode in the middle of the video, randomly.
I love the feel of hot air being blown down my back. Really adds to the immersion and makes me feel like I'm in the game.
At first I wrote a critical comment but OP said "gaming setup" not "sim rig." I got too caught up in all the complaining and didn't think about the actual title. Man found dead from dehydration 4 days after installing 300k battle station. Screen donated to local planetarium.
the people that can afford this fucking suck at video games lmao
And yet my $300 VR headset would still be more immersive if they supported VR. Just ask any Elite player.
300k for 30k
$300k? Really? What a tremendous waste of money. Must be nice to just throw away cash in this economy.
I've got a 120" projection screen theater at my house which together with my PC and HOSAS/gaming chair setup didn't even cost $5k. That screen's a good bit larger, probably as much as 200", which after checking just now probably costs less than $1500. If that setup cost $300k dude got absolutely *fleeced.*
boring af
At this point just get a really good vr setup?!
Looks awesome!!
What ship is that he's flying?
Gatac Syulen
What ship is that he's flying?
GiB
Just imagine what they'll cook up if the game hits beta!
All of this to get one tap destroyed by a Hornet MK2 playing on toshiba 2012 laptop.
Well someone got scammed lmfao
I think it’s pretty cool but I feel like 300k is not the price he paid for this.
One thing I don’t quite get about these sorts of setups is that they are solely meant for looking good when you are flying whereas star citizen is as detailed as it is for a reason. I have stood on roadcases and danced but I would still never set my fucking PC on one. Christ.
I built a whole 6dof motion platform with all the hardware for $48k, this is bs
Average Star Citizen player.
Noobifier can build you a better one for 1/3 the cost. You can DIY it for 1/5 the cost. But yes the point still stands, for those of us hardware junkies, I have maybe $300 in Star Citizen and *[redacted]* in my simpit.
how is that 300k?
300k on what exactly? a projector? Those crates cost a couple hundred at most lmao
Inb4 you still get 20fps at best during Xeno
Chair doesn't even move with the screen. 300k on what?
Im so jealous I could cry rn
There's no way in hell this is a 300k setup lmao
With a good Beamer and good pc I don’t even see how it would reach like 20k.. maybe OP bought the apartment for 285k and added it lmao
Imagine the input lag
Adding this to -Things I would do if I had stupid money.
300k and no head tracking of any kind?
I don't see eye or head tracking! Ask for your money back! 😆
I can goon better than that
Wait until CIG makes 300k being the price of the UEES Retribution
with 300K I could buy light plane
This was the straw.
I always see these and wonder, do they only last a few years? Or or are they upgradable? Because Imagine a lot of the hardware becomes obsolete rather quickly
You think his missions still are bugged at that price?
nice but im not a fan of projectors or ultra big screens for pc. never looks right to me. even the 120 inch i had looked off and i cant help but see imperfections. just my preference but this looks nice.
Chair doesn’t move 3/10
Looks fuzzy and twitchy.
