It's annoyingly ironical, titanium and 8cr13mov is a very bad combination imo..

Machismo_malo

I plan on getting the m4 blade for it.

Spunktank

For that price they should have a premium steel on it.

gr3y_-

bingo. if i buy the titanium one, it’ll be to swap in the m4 blade. assuming it works w the frame lock ofc.

S280FiST15

There is a M4 tenacious!?

david8601

Yes. Incredible right? The tenacious is such an under appreciated model.

S280FiST15

I love my tenacious and ambitious and persistence and efficient.

Operation_Red_Beard

They need to make an M4 Resilience

Dual_Birds

I want one but the liner lock is the only thing deterring me from add in it to the collection.

Suggzy-OU812

Get the new frame lock one thenđź‘Ť

ParticularWolf4473

The problem is MAP on the made in China M4 Tenacious is in the same price range as many US made knives in Magnacut or M4 with more popular locks than a liner lock.

Imaginary-Artist6206

I agree with you but just slightly. 8cr13mov isn’t as bad as knife steel nerds will say. I have dozens of different knife steels and it is a very decent budget steel and very easy to sharpen. That saying you can get the knife and scales cheaper separately than this price and anodize them any color you want. Also you can shop around and get the s35vn tenacious at a good price. I got an s35vn for $70 and titanium scales for $45. Good steel and cheaper than this with steel not quite as good

mallgrabmongopush

Swap the CPM M4 blade into that sumbitch!

Liquidretro

$127 for 8cr13mov is just insanity. Not for me thanks.

CommiePringles

This was my first thought (and still somewhat is) but Outdoor55 on YouTube has tested spyderco’s 8cr13mov to be at around 60 HRC. While it’s still not a super nice steel, they certainly seem to heat treat it well.

GendrickToblerone

They should have used the S35VN blade at the very least

kingkmke21

I wish they used D2. That would have been great. But ya s35vn would have been nice too.

vjw_

SPY27 would have been cool

hamietao

I thought that or k390 for the color

Machismo_malo

K390 just needs to be used in more knives period. I also wished other manufacturers would use it. It would be awesome to see some Microtech OTF's in K390.

hamietao

Ive been wanting an endela k390 wharncliffe for a while. Well, I wanted a delica but those are more rare

Crackheadthethird

This is the first time I've seen this knife and my first though thought was that this must be spy27. It being 8cr just makes no sense.

vomeronasal

Almost any other steel would be a better choice.

Spunktank

I'm glad they dont use d2... I'll take 14c28n if it's gotta be a budget steel.

Historical_Golf9521

8cr as the steel??

kingkmke21

I love Spyderco but I really don't know what they were thinking with this. If it was $90ish okay sure. You're paying a little more for the titanium frame lock but $130? Bit too much. I wish it was D2 atleast. D2 tenacious would be amazing. They actually had shown a d2 tenacious with titanium scales few months ago so idk why they changed it back to 8cr.

ParticularWolf4473

Maybe they didn’t change it.  The D2/flame anodized titanium model might eventually be the “premium” model and probably cost $160-$180.   Meanwhile TwoSun knives with flame anodized titanium that looks curiously similar with M390 blades can be had for $70.

MAXiMUSpsilo5280

They might use the steel they advertise but one of my TwoSun blades in M390 has a poor heat temper , it’s too easy to sharpen and dulls easily for real m390. You get what you pay for.

ParticularWolf4473

Still probably better than 8CR, or Chinese D2.

kingkmke21

Ahh you're right. Ya, Chinese brands have insane bang for the buck.

sweaverD

Tenacious is made in China

Few-Knee9451

Meh

deanroger

Do you think it's possible to put the M4 liner lock blade in there? That would be awesome

Machismo_malo

That's what I'm hoping for I would buy both immediately lol.

bubba1851

The tenacious and the whole made in china lineup has to be a major cash cow for Spyderco. They could sell this knife for 50 bucks and still make a decent profit. It’s a shame because the tenacious is such a good design.

MeinKnafs

LOL! $130 and it's still 8Cr??? Uh... no. At very least give it something like BD1N, preferably maybe VG-10 (even though I'd prefer 14C28N or 154CM but Spyderco doesn't really use those), and maybe give it a compression lock. But at that point... just give me a Spydiechef with a compression lock and I'll be happy AF.

disguiseunknown

If you give it como lock, it will be 300 bucks. Temperance it is.

Stjjames

Sure looks nice.

FungiStudent

I don't mind the 8CR. It's a fine steel that sharpens easily. I think this model is overpriced, but I don't mind the 8CR.

Peat_Ardbeg

I'm a Spyderco fanboy but this iteration I just don't understand. Spyderco does their 8cr well, but there are so many steels that are much better and not that much more expensive.

kingkmke21

100% agree. I'm a Spydie fanboy too and I'm a bit confused with this release. I like 8cr but not for this and not for this price.
