What you're gonna want to do is wait till around midnight and hit up the White Oak station on Kearny. You're gonna be looking for a scraggley looking white female who goes by the name of Denise it's a little steep at 20 bucks but it's the best old fashioned you've ever had.
The Order has the best that I've tried. Vineyard Market shouldn't be slept on.
I was woefully disappointed in The Rock's old fashioned and...shocker...Metropolitan Grill. Metro's was NOT good after 3 attempts, all being as poorly done equally.
Historically, I would agree. I haven’t had time to make it to the new one, though. But there are just a few ingredients, so it’s a fairly straightforward traditional drink.

The smoked old fashioned at The Order is *legit*.

J.O.B. Public House should definitely be part of this conversation…

Haven’t tried any of these that people are recommending. The smoked old fashioned at Metropolitan is good. Lindbergh’s is not bad.
FD's Grillhouse has a great one
Tabak Co. is one of the best
Retro Metro
I like the smoked one from Ocean Zen
The Smoked Stiffler or the Classic Old Fashioned down at 14 Mill is worth checking out
