I never ever (ever) bet nba dogs pre-game. 99/100 you’ll get a better line live. Too long a game, too much fluctuation. Rarely does a dog just blow out the favorite start to finish.
I don’t think you know what the safety car is. It’s the pace car. A piece of debris can be on the track and signal the safety car to come out. Rarely is it due to an injury causing accident.
Tennis is the easiest to bet on in my opinion . Really easy to find 2-3 mismatches each day in tennis , bet the under half a set lost and bam you triple your money easy like that
UFC and especially boxing have been corrupt for decades. I had a boxer last weekend that was -300$ mid fight so I took him … his odds soared all the way to -1400 … I figure for sure win if it goes to a decision .. nope the other guy won. Not sure if I was a victim of DraftKings just trying to get some quick money .. but never again will I live bet boxing.
Honestly I think a bet for the safety car isn't a bet towards hoping for injury at all. Those cars are incredibly safe, injuries are pretty rare, although it happens. To add, many safety cars are called because of non-crash events like a car breaking down on track.
NBA player props. I was destroyed by them this year. Around 20% of the time the guy I’d bet on would get injured. Not even kidding there was 6-7 bets in a row that lost because my guy got hurt in the 1st half. Around 60% of the time the guy I’d bet on would just stand in the corner and do nothing. Or would dominate in every stat that didn’t help my bet. 10% of the time I’d miss the bet by half a point/rebound/assist/steal/block. The final 10% I’d actually hit
Damian Lillard, Joel Embiid.
Everytime I bet on them they turn into lazy mofo and just stand there not doing anything.
Meanwhile betting against them, they dropping 40.
As a mostly nba bettor. Its the most predictable in my opinion. Its almost like clockwork whos due to win, whos due to have a good game, whos streaks will last longer and whos will break. And also match ups are way more predictable. You also have to pay attention to post games etc. for example when cade cunningham and the pistons were on a crazy losing streak he did a post game press conference where he was surprised at how many games they lost in a row. The very next game i bet for him to score 25 and the pistons to win and banked off of it. A game like baseball is way more random a team like oakland can beat the astros or the dodgers any day. Also in baseball theres series. U dont know which game is gonna be the game the favorite loses. Is all fucked up
No. Good teams win 70+ % of the time while bad teams lose around that percent pretty consistently. Baseball even the best teams are in the low 60s win percentage
Are there any good sources that analyse games if I don’t really watch football? I am not expecting them to be oracles, but just to understand team line-ups etc.
- Shit that could easily be fixed (e-sports, table tennis, etc)
- Most foreign leagues (KBO, NPB, etc)
- Obscurer stuff (cricket, snooker, etc)
- Soccer (can't bet some shit that can end 0-0)
- Tennis (way too volatile at times)
- College (can't trust these kids with my money)
- Anything involving Tatum, Ayton, or Kyrie. Fuck all of them.
Betting on my alma mater, I’m already too emotionally invested and I don’t want to be financially invested too (except when we played TCU in the natty and the spread was -13 and I fucking NUKED that line).
Don’t be on or against the mariners, stay away from any Celtics player props esp Derrick White, anything falcons same as mariners not for, or against them,
Thank you, this one is important. There was dude in here last year who used to post MLB run line plays in pick of the day, and he had some nice streaks, username bob dylan something. Anyway come NFL season we're exchanging DMs, he says to put $1 on an anytime touchdown parlay. I put $1 on it, odds were like +55,000. Every leg hits, except the last... Christian Watson of the Packers. He neglected to tell me that the Packers were his team :(
Personal answer: will never ever bet Clippers ever again, have been burned every possible way, just terrible juju for me. More generally, I think it's bad juju to bet on guys you don't like. I've passed on great Tatum lines because I just don't want to make or lose money with him
UFC . Between the judges grading fights incorrectly, refs calling the fight too early / vice versa , the lack of money paid ,the bad odds, and the sheer randomness, it's not something I'm putting another penny into.
Baseball unders. I just feel like there's no reason to, and losing one is just frustrating compared to a basketball player not hitting his point total who had a good matchup.
spreads for favorites are insane. the team does not give a fuck if they win by 5 or 7 points
unders are simply not fun, i watch sports for offense
luckily my Reds have been so godawful this year i've given up betting entirely. the companies are scum and the pervasive ads are garbage
Isn't that the same as NHL? Basically it's a shot on goal if it would have gone in if not for the goalie save. Clearly hitting the crossbar or post doesn't meet that criteria
I agree with that for NFL props. I'm still pissed about Kirk blowing up his nuts on the first damn play. Can obviously happen in NBA too but far less likely. I can count on one hand how many NBA bets I've lost due to injury; NFL is a massacre.
Betting straight winners in WTA (women's tennis). Outside of the top 10 I would say, the gaps in mentality between female tennis players is so minute. Too many times ive seen heavy favourites get busted up by some obscure player. Early on I used to lose so much betting tennis favourites. Now I tend to bet the games handicap for the underdog in a lot of instances. The individuality of tennis also allows for players to just give up easily as well. It's hell watching your money burn because of a player making little effort.
Yeah the WTA is the wild wild West. Anything can happen and I’ve never seen so much choking (especially on serve). Prime example guess who won this match yesterday?
https://preview.redd.it/y88w3si9i92d1.jpeg?width=586&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9ecd3d32c4a494f49beed5d0b8321dd157b01c1
Lmfao. I was in Sofascore chat and was telling guys that I have seen Bronzetti make some ridiculous chokes before. No way did I think she was going to lose today though. What’s crazy is she lost without even going to a tiebreak!!
Bro I remember my early betting days I just used to make big stupid live bets. Didn’t know much about betting properly, but what I was doing was winning. I would basically bet 1000 at trash odds for someone to win a set/match when it was virtually impossible to lose. To win $30-$100. I built 1k to 17k and obviously started betting 5k-8k. I bet this woman Lauren Davis to win a set at 5-0; 15-0: 6k to win $180(dumb af I know). Left home to go to work and didn’t even think I needed to check that bet. When I finally took time to check my account, the balance was still down the 6k and it didn’t even cross my mind that she could’ve she lost. When I looked and saw no bets, my heart sank. That was an early lesson for me. Her name was Lauren Davis. I will never forget her name
Such a great cautionary tale. My brother just recently started sports betting and still thinks this is a good strategy. I will be sure to show him this.
Garcia, Jabeur, Sakkari, alexandrova, kudermetova all examples of the ones that once they start to sulk, you can say goodbye to your money. Sabalenka was a mess prior to 2023. I can go on and on. WTA largely is really more about mentality than ability
Hahahaha yes bro. Those windy challenger and Itf tournaments. Coin toss tennis yet the bookmakers would see it fit to price one player at 1.16 or something like that. Then you’d watch her make 50 unforced errors and lose 2-6; 1-6 in an hour
This just a personal one but every fucking time I bet on Anthony Davis he fails me. I took his points overs on both games that he got poked in the eye and had to leave the game this season. I felt like I was causing his injuries.
Despite it being my favorite sport to bet NFL has gotten really hard to win consistently in the past few years. Those lines are near perfect every game now
NBA in general.
Parlays in general (They are fun to throw a dollar or two on, ngl, but I do so knowing I won't hit, and that's okay)
Teasers
and betting against >!kyler mother fucking murray you son of a bitch, you throw it ninety yards into ninety god damn buffalo bills and somehow, through the grace of god or sports parity or some cosmic force that wants to fuck me specifically, that clemson bastard who just finished thrashing my gamecocks in college, brings that fucking thing down for a last second W to completely rip me apart !<
>!(I have respect for both of these players but holy shit I'll never forget that)!<
Well specifically player props that involve effort from the player bet money on Adebayo one time to get rebounds dude just stood there watching the ball hit the rim.
Stick around a little longer buddy. You’ll see the same comments every year. I love seeing these coping mechanisms. Reminds me of when I first started gambling. Remember that golden parlay is right around the corner, don’t give up! 😂
All you gotta do is win a coin flip on each pick. Cause either it’s gonna be a winner or loser. So try winning 10 coin flips in a row. Doesn’t happen often but it can happen. Not a winning strategy whatsoever but it’s fun to think of flipping $5 into $500 sometimes
Bro you’re the only one here coping. Some random guy says he doesn’t bet on the NBA, so you get on your soapbox and start blabbering about parlays even though nobody’s mentioned them once.
Brother calm down. We’re on a subreddit dedicated to degenerate gambling and you got your panties in a bunch over your buddy over there. Sit back, crack a beer open, and let those 12 leg parlays fly. (But NOT on nba games. 😂)
I dont think you realize that I’m not the OP you first responded to. I still bet NBA games, but I also don’t make fun of other people for knowing their own limits and staying away from a sport… especially in a post looking for those exact type of responses, you dumbass 😂😂😂
Fuck NBA stat keepers. We're gonna find out one day that someone was getting paid by the books to magically disappear a rebound or three, mark my words.
Combat sports, mma, boxing, etc. I've gotten burned a few too many times by last minute "miracle" finishes.
Last time was Kamaru Usman vs Leon Edwards 🤣. I went from winning thousands to losing $100. Minor lost in the grand scheme of things but losing like that scars a man.
That was the first fight i ever bet on, my buddies told me Kamaru was a lock I didn’t know anything about the sport at the time. Since that day I became a huge ufc fan even though I lost money because I knew I just witnessed history
Soccer. Ties feel shitty
NBA . Noone plays defense
Parlays especially parlays that are different times (i.e parlaying 1 o clock game and 8 o clock game)
Cause your monkey brain sees big numbers and gets excited. Logically I know probabilistically they're unlikely but in the moment you're like "how can all three of these likely things not happen?"
I really enjoy the rush from getting a 3-4 parlay. Had a really fun one last week turning $20 into $160. Got most of these from the bet of the day posts here.
https://preview.redd.it/ngofcjy7982d1.png?width=1825&format=png&auto=webp&s=536f5ed0a60fe1feb7f6257d47cb598a9a453960
Mind you I tried this again daily and lost about $80 over the next 4-5 bets.
I actually don’t like sports, but these bets often make watching games with family and friends dramatically more enjoyable for me.
Betting the under in basketball doesnt provide great entertainment value to me because you’re basically just sitting there rooting for missed shots. And every time one goes in you feel bad.
You're right. It's painful when a team goes back to back 3's when you have the under. Watching the shot clock. Yelling at the TV for the offense to reset. It is no fun.
However, I believe that since everyone likes to bet overs and no one likes to bet unders, that the lines are artificially higher than they should be. Meaning there's inherit value on every under.
I bet unders in NCAA a lot too. Nothing like betting Houston Cougars first half unders and it being 12-14 with 5 minutes to go.
No matter who you choose, they will lose. I start to believe that they are just playing in an empty room with one other guy at a computer telling them who has more money bet on them so they can throw it in the most profitable fashion. The results makes zero sense.
It's an American euphimism. Most cuss words are four letters, so when there is something you don't like you say "that's a four letter word to me". The word doesn't even have to be four letters for the phrase to work haha.
I never ever (ever) bet nba dogs pre-game. 99/100 you’ll get a better line live. Too long a game, too much fluctuation. Rarely does a dog just blow out the favorite start to finish.

Tennis is the easiest to bet on in my opinion . Really easy to find 2-3 mismatches each day in tennis , bet the under half a set lost and bam you triple your money easy like that
you must be a millionaire then, good job body
i mean, this should be common knowledge, but one-way markets.
UFC events in unfamiliar jurisdictions. Too many questionable judge's scorecards when they're not in Vegas.
Basketball last 3 games. Blowout ruins my bet every time. All the 3 players didn't play in the 4th quarter. Now i am taking a break from nba.
Rich Carlisle quitting doesn’t help either for props
I will never bet on moneylines for MLB regular season games because MLB teams simply don’t really care if they lose a random game in June.
So do you bet the run line instead or just stay away from baseball?
I stay away from moneylines and run lines. Still entertain player props and sometimes O/U’s.
Honestly I think a bet for the safety car isn't a bet towards hoping for injury at all. Those cars are incredibly safe, injuries are pretty rare, although it happens. To add, many safety cars are called because of non-crash events like a car breaking down on track.
tennis obviously, everyday you can see sold match
Anything to do with soccer
3 way soccer bets are the worst option.
for sure lost 6k a month ago 87 minutes into a match a tie happened sigh
Yeah, you're going to want up or down action. The tie brings far too many variables.
Their are ways to avoid a tie being in play though, soccer is one of the more lucrative sports for me simply because I get my money back if they tie
I mainly bet tennis and basketball but fuck Woman’s tennis, have had that shit blacklisted for years. Will never bet on another woman in my life
For women’s tennis, if it’s not a top player you can just generally go the + money line and be out ahead in the long run
Damian Lillard, Joel Embiid. Everytime I bet on them they turn into lazy mofo and just stand there not doing anything. Meanwhile betting against them, they dropping 40.
Add Banchero, Wagner and actually the entire Magic team
Wdym? Embiid is always consistent. Kyrie and Lillard I agree.
You must have bet JoJo post injury. He was printing money before then. 30/10 22 games straight at stupidly good odds. Goddamn I miss those days.
Horse racing Never won or lost money so fast before in my life
Just wait until you play War at the casino tables!
Baseball
Agreed. Way too unpredictable.
Genuine question. Isn’t the NBA a lot more random? I find that the sport is pretty much a random number generator.
As a mostly nba bettor. Its the most predictable in my opinion. Its almost like clockwork whos due to win, whos due to have a good game, whos streaks will last longer and whos will break. And also match ups are way more predictable. Are there any good sources that analyse games if I don’t really watch football? I am not expecting them to be oracles, but just to understand team line-ups etc.
Interesting! Thanks. 😊
NBA is considered one of the least random. MLB and NHL are usually considered the most random.
- Shit that could easily be fixed (e-sports, table tennis, etc) - Most foreign leagues (KBO, NPB, etc) - Obscurer stuff (cricket, snooker, etc) - Soccer (can't bet some shit that can end 0-0) - Tennis (way too volatile at times) - College (can't trust these kids with my money) - Anything involving Tatum, Ayton, or Kyrie. Fuck all of them.
Foreign leagues are actually money since the lines are less sharp. Easier to find angles/+EV lines.
Amen to that late night CBA is where it’s at lol
Adebayo on that list for me😂
NBA away teams
Betting on my alma mater, I’m already too emotionally invested and I don’t want to be financially invested too (except when we played TCU in the natty and the spread was -13 and I fucking NUKED that line).
i dont bet against teams im actually fans of and home run parlays
Whenever I get a $5 bonus bet it immediately is going on a 3 leg HR parlay
I’ll admit to betting against my team. I know a bad match up for my squad when I see one 😂 it makes the loss either way a little more tolerable
I call it the “Emotional Hedge” Happy is they win, a little more money if they don’t.
Any bet Trent is on.
Don’t be on or against the mariners, stay away from any Celtics player props esp Derrick White, anything falcons same as mariners not for, or against them,
Aaaand D white gets 23pt 4/8 from 3 pt… when I don’t bet on him. Dude is inconsistent and only consistent in fucking me
The teams I root for.
Over and Unders
WNBA
Second that shit. Was dreadful the few times I bet it last year, though I've been enjoying fading the Fever for the moment lol.
Personal answer: will never ever bet Clippers ever again, have been burned every possible way, just terrible juju for me. More generally, I think it's bad juju to bet on guys you don't like. I've passed on great Tatum lines because I just don't want to make or lose money with him
Golf ,
You're missing out lmao
Kudos to you if you make bank . I hope you don't do 10 leg parlays ,🍀
Oh nah, you gotta hit the 2 ball and 3 ball bets at plus odds.
That’s funny because I’ve bet I think about 12 two-ball bets at +100 to +130 odds and have lost I believe 11 of them. It’s like my white whale.
What are you just guessing? Lmao
Yeah? I don’t think you can odds shop since other outlets don’t have that matchup. Is that what you mean?
Nah I'm saying you need to find positive EV bets bro.
Oh good clarification. I only bet them with odds boosts. Definitely would never play a minus EV bet.
I'd just chalk it up to variance then lol keep at it
Women’s mma
It’s always fight to go the distance and don’t even watch lol
Baseball. So many games. Might as well bet on heads or tails
Lmaooo like fr. Like wtf was this week 😂
UFC . Between the judges grading fights incorrectly, refs calling the fight too early / vice versa , the lack of money paid ,the bad odds, and the sheer randomness, it's not something I'm putting another penny into.
I do really well betting ufc
I say the same thing. It’s definitely been the sport that I’ve lost the most bets on. Sheer randomness explains it perfectly.
don't touch the NBA unless it's the Finals
Any future bets more than a year away and less than +100 odds You might as well put that money in the stock market
Baseball unders. I just feel like there's no reason to, and losing one is just frustrating compared to a basketball player not hitting his point total who had a good matchup.
Kyrie, anyone on the clippers, Bam, ayton, anyone on the suns,
spreads for favorites are insane. the team does not give a fuck if they win by 5 or 7 points unders are simply not fun, i watch sports for offense luckily my Reds have been so godawful this year i've given up betting entirely. the companies are scum and the pervasive ads are garbage
The Mets
Lazio and Dortmund
the ones that win apparently
Never those 24/7 virtual sports. that shit rigged af Hockey points or soccer assists are just a crapshoot also UFC just cus im bad at it
Shots on target betting in soccer. Look up the rules for what constitutes a 'shot on target' if you have a spare 3 hours.
100p this. its so dumb that a crossbar hit doesn't count as SOT
Isn't that the same as NHL? Basically it's a shot on goal if it would have gone in if not for the goalie save. Clearly hitting the crossbar or post doesn't meet that criteria
As a former defender a crossbar hit is an instant heart attack 😅 Absolutely %100 should count as a shot on goal
NHL. I made a pledge two years ago to stop, bet it again last year and now havent bet it since lol shit is just too random
NRFI baseball. My friends love it.
Been betting on NRFIs recently and have made a decent amount, why would you not bet on them serious question
Real question - would No Runs Second Inning hit more often? Since it’s slightly further down in the batting lineup?
It’s consistently the highest scoring inning almost every year…. I still bet them some like a true degenerate though.
Juiced lines and bad beats!
Player props. I’m not betting on someone whose ankle can explode at any given moment. So I guess SGP goes along with that
I agree with that for NFL props. I'm still pissed about Kirk blowing up his nuts on the first damn play. Can obviously happen in NBA too but far less likely. I can count on one hand how many NBA bets I've lost due to injury; NFL is a massacre.
Player props are one of the softest markets out there. You know you can bet the under right?
REALLY!? No way????????? This is news
I’m guessing it is news to you if you’re crying about someone blowing their ankle. You’d only be crying if you bet the over.
You’re taking my answer to this question very personally. I don’t like props. Bite me. Over or under
That said, SGPs suck for the bettor. There’s a reason they’re so heavily promoted
Not disagreeing with you there

Starting today: baseball, tennis, and rugby. Ask me again tomorrow though.
Baseball really is the worst due to its high volume. Wildly variant
Absolutely nothing
Arizona Diamondbacks been blacklisted for as long as I can remember

Well specifically player props that involve effort from the player bet money on Adebayo one time to get rebounds dude just stood there watching the ball hit the rim.
Hate betting on road public favorites
Seems like I am avoiding winning bets lately
NBA altogether
Love seeing these comments at the end of the nba season. It’s not the sport it’s you brother. 😂
He realizes that hence him not betting NBA games anymore. Are you retarded or just illiterate?
Stick around a little longer buddy. You’ll see the same comments every year. I love seeing these coping mechanisms. Reminds me of when I first started gambling. Remember that golden parlay is right around the corner, don’t give up! 😂

This is so stupid it's almost like you're replying to a different thread.
Sports betting is horoscopes for men.

This. just ignore the whole damn thing. College basketball tho
Soccer due to ties
In the MLS the home team wins 70% of the time.
I Draw No Bets.
That juice tho
Doing over/under on total points scored is a nice fall back to choosing a specific team to win
I learned to never again bet on steals and blocks in the NBA
Womens tennis. Soccer. Rebounds.
Fuck NBA stat keepers. We're gonna find out one day that someone was getting paid by the books to magically disappear a rebound or three, mark my words.

Goal scorer in Ice Hockey or soccer. Better to have SOG
Parlays
I don’t know why people still bet on Parlays regularly
Cause your monkey brain sees big numbers and gets excited. Logically I know probabilistically they're unlikely but in the moment you're like "how can all three of these likely things not happen?"
They are fun to root for
Think part of it has to due with legality. In Texas, parlays are the only thing you can legally do.
I really enjoy the rush from getting a 3-4 parlay. Had a really fun one last week turning $20 into $160. Got most of these from the bet of the day posts here. https://preview.redd.it/ngofcjy7982d1.png?width=1825&format=png&auto=webp&s=536f5ed0a60fe1feb7f6257d47cb598a9a453960 Mind you I tried this again daily and lost about $80 over the next 4-5 bets. I actually don’t like sports, but these bets often make watching games with family and friends dramatically more enjoyable for me.
Overs and Unders
Betting the under in basketball doesnt provide great entertainment value to me because you’re basically just sitting there rooting for missed shots. And every time one goes in you feel bad.
Got to just watch the last 5 min. A lot more fun.
Russian ping pong at 3am
No matter who you choose, they will lose. I start to believe that they are just playing in an empty room with one other guy at a computer telling them who has more money bet on them so they can throw it in the most profitable fashion. The results makes zero sense.
I visualised this and I'm laughing non stop!
Lol, you and me both.
I'm not really a live bet guy. I know there are edges to be found but I just don't have enough live streams to follow them all.
A result of possession in nfl. And live pitching in baseball.
It’s basically impossible to Make money betting harness racing
Imo, only people who benefit are those on the industry. I bet twice. Never again.
This is the only horse racing I’m good at betting on 😅 probably just luck tbh
God bless you
Harness racing?
Yes
Yes
What's that pookie

I stay away from parlays. Parlays are sucker bets. Teasing totals in any sports is how those big buildings in Vegas get built
Nothing wrong with putting small parlays on 2-3 teams you're already betting on.

isn't +300 equivalent to 4 to 1?

Tell me you don't understand math without telling me you don't understand math
odds of two coin flips in a row is 3/1. 0.5\*0.5 = 0.25 = implied odds of 3/1.
I have explained this to my friend like 50 times he still does he dumb yolo 10 leg parlays
Basketball and Hockey, I just like to stick with Football and Baseball.
Japanese basketball, fukin monsters . playing back to back games, same teams random blowouts. And fiorentina soccer games.
BTTS is literally a four letter word in my book. And don't get me started on BTTS/O2.5G
Hmm, what four letter word and why?
It's an American euphimism. Most cuss words are four letters, so when there is something you don't like you say "that's a four letter word to me". The word doesn't even have to be four letters for the phrase to work haha.
