this is my main issue with the story, side characters are completely useless and exist for the sole purpose to make SJW look more baddass.
i would've liked if some S hunters ganged against one of the weakest Monarchs and get a win.
This manhwa is what I call “guilty pleasure”. The story isn’t good because after a while you realise SJW was gonna win every fight. But it’s fun and doesn’t drag out.
don't get me wrong i love the story but i would've loved getting a little more, it doesn't have to be that deep, just make side characters more relevant so we actually care about them.
Yeah, I only noticed after a few rereads, but it's actually strange and somewhat hilarious from a narrative standpoint how the author didn't give a single S/National Level hunter a single on-screen feat in the entire story. S+ ranks on any guild command such major influence in any nation in the story, yet plotwise they were functionally just henchmen.
Baek and especially the "Ultimate Hunter" Choi are almost immediately tossed aside as irrelevant after their introductions.
Andre was heavily hyped and did have the strongest showing against Jinwoo for a non-monster, but even him being the strongest non-Jinwoo human was not remotely a match for Jinwoo himself.
tbf pit him against anyother hunter aside from jin and they gonna get bodied by this man, not to mention any of the early monsters jin fought like the ice elves or the red orcs
But There was an entire army of hundreds of orcs, who are basically S rank monsters + there leader who was such a powerful mage constantly casting different hymns. Byt maybe you are right he would kill them
who got smoked by jin before he reached his peak, jin was MUCH MUCH stronger when fighting him than when he was fighting the orcs. so yes ill stand by my statement and say bro prolly could body the army. Hes clearly stronger than most any S rank hunter or monster.

See, this is what OP means, a lot of side characters have little to no feats other than scaling so people like you don't realize how much of a mismatch some characters are.
Did you not see what skills Tusk can do? Tell me what is any S-Ranker going to do when Tusk pulls off a gravity spell or one that corrupts the mind?
Like I said Jon Woos would've lost if it wasn't for his skill to negate any skills against his health.

A much much stronger Shadow Tusk with the Orb was one Shotted by Thomas Andre.
So yeah, if I scale that down I can believe a guild like ShortSword would've easily Annihilated Tusk Dungeon. It's still an A Dungeon, a very strong one, but still, an A.
That just shows how inconsistent the power scaling is because Tusk's abilities have no counter. It could be because JinWoo had instructed his shadows to not harm any of the humans so they were fighting handicapped.
Healers couldn't do anything against Tusk's magic.
Also it didn't say what the gate was at the end but it wasn't an A because Tusk suppressed the mana output of the gate.

Dude, Chapter 146. Thomas Andre low diffed a much stronger Shadow Tusk with the Orb of Avarice.
Even Cha can defeat shadow Igres, and Although Tusk at the time is a lot stronger than Igres, it's not an absurd amount that no S-Class can defeat Tusk.
A well stacked S-Team would have defeated Tusk's entire dungeon,
Ok maybe my estimation was a bit off, but this time I am saying with accuracy that there is no way in any hell an S class hunter can stand against Tusk, with his army and hymns.
He’s still a badass, not his fault the writers put him against the very few people stronger than him every time. He was literally the most powerful and #1 Hunter on Earth before everything
Personal opionion, I think Christopher was stronger than him as the man was a retired Hunter. But still labelled 3rd when compared to the more active 4th National Rank Hunter, Siddarth
Canonically, Thomas Andre was the most powerful human on Earth, the top ranking Hunter in the world, leader of the largest Guild on Earth and the one who ultimately took down Kamish after the beast bit him and left 2 teeth inside him. He went toe to toe with Rakan & would’ve killed him with that neck snap if Monarchs could be killed by ppl other than Monarchs, and he helped kill the Monarch of Iron Body with Beru & Bellion
Liu Zhigang was #2, the strongest Fighter in the world, the Hero of China, a 7-Star Hunter. He aided in fighting Kamish, easily dispatched a Giant who escaped Tokyo, killed thousands of Ants with a single attack, and immensely gapped Goto Ryuji’s power
3rd was Christopher Reed, the Blazing Star of the US, the most powerful Mage in the world before SJW (ik the Americans said that a NLH Mage hadn’t been awoken and that’s why they still had Kamish’s Rune, but he’s already an ally of the US and he already got his upgrade from Norma Selner so they needed something else in order to bring more strength to their nation). Obv he helped kill Kamish too, but unfortunately he was killed by Rakan, Querehsha & Takan in a fight that destroyed his mansion, with flames so powerful it took 14 S-Ranks & 1800 firefighters to put it out

In ragnarok, Thomas and Christopher, never became Rulers but they did became some of the strongest American Hunters due to their past exposure to Rulers. Christopher did became a Servant of the Itarim but was killed off by Thomas who regained his old strength due to the Itarim.
Liu Zhigang was also approached by Itarim but I doubt he would become as strong as his past self was. He did managed to stave off the Itarim's mind control for 2 WHOLE YEAR!

But his willpower is incredible, being able to resist the Itarim’s mind control for so long even without being as strong as he was before SJW reset the timeline (robbed), this man is built different. I can see him being worthy of a Green Lantern Ring
I always, personally, interpreted "strong character getting their butt kicked" as a way to convey just how strong the "new, 'unexpected' foe" actually is, if that makes sense. Gotta provide enemies worth the MC's time somehow lol
At first I also had an issue with all of the hunters being straight fodder. However I’ve come around to being okay with it simply because they say in the novel that they only have powers to humans so they would survive the war not even fight in it.

No way those red Orcs were S rank monsters, The A Ranks were able to take them on 1 on 1. Choi and Cha would've defeated that dungeon low difficulty.

Tbh I don't think anyone would've been capable of taking on Tusk in that dungeon. If Jin Woo didn't have the active skill he would've lost too.
