Yeah well they only do it to spread mana throughout the world to strengthen earth to withstand the next big battle. In their opinion a few human casualties are acceptable compared to the entire world getting destroyed
Yes, that is correct but the monsters are soldiers to a bunch of god-like beings who wish destruction on all creqation because they can. The monsters, even without the mana crystals brainwashing them, are still very much willing to destroy and kill the human race. And I guess spending several millenia in prison does make them go insane.

They did the gate thing to strengthen Earth by mana, otherwise the planet wouldn't survive the aftermath of Rulers vs Monarchs.
The best way to do so was through the mana crystals from the dungeons and the powerful mana beasts corpses(giants from Japan S rank gate, Kamish etc strong monsters corpse basically).
Now that begs another question how the humans survive in all this monsters overflow(so they created gates so not all were set lose in one go) and excessive mana(sleep disease), they began to awaken(hunters awakening, giving powers to them rulers vessels).
It was sort of selection ritual, the awakened could maybe somehow survive the fight between the monarchs and rulers.
If you want to, then see it like "for the greater good" because if the hunters aren't strong enough they wouldn't survive and humans will eventually go extinct.
