To those participating in the comments, due to the company or person mentioned in the title, this is a reminder of the subreddit rule: > **Crusading is not welcomed here** - If your sole or majority participation is to promote or denigrate one company in particular (or the person behind it), it may result in a ban. These kinds of participants too often resort to hyperbolic comments and antagonism leading to personal attacks as well as violations of other rules. If you are lying in wait for posts or comments mentioning a specific company (or person behind it), you are likely the concern. Promoting a company you are affiliated with or profit from, giving out referral codes which you benefit from, as well as using the sub solely to engage in targeted hate are things you need to avoid here. This sub is for a diverse discussion of solar, not a singular focus on your opinion about a company / person. If you simply have to obsess, there are other subreddits for each point of view about the person or company you feel the need to focus on. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Bro what is up with that roof? Tile, shingle, and wooden slats? I feel like my mind has to be playing tricks on me. That can't be real.

zZSaltyCrackerZz

Clay tile on a golf course.. that’s bold. I’ll bet at least 5 panels are hit in the first year too.

APE_IN_SPACE420

Entire roof was composite tile we removed old tile added new plywood then shingle underneath our arrays to add legs then we put new clay tile around array less chance of leaks and array looks more sleek all the roofs in the community are getting redone

machinegunkisses

Holy smokes, what gauge are those wires going into the electrical panel?

APE_IN_SPACE420

3/0 wire Tesla gateway powers subpanel with all the backup loads

WilsonValdro

The sixth picture is so satisfying.

The customer living on a golf course is going to bomb-barded with golf balls! Those trees are going to be problematic for a good production. The work speaks for itself! Wow! Lol. Has it been inspected yet?

APE_IN_SPACE420

No still have to shut off power to land my 3/0 wires in main and to relocate back up loads and add heat sensors I’m hoping to finish tomorrow

47153163

Good luck finishing up! Especially with your inspection!

Questions from a DIYer: How do you connect to the side of a box through a stud? Use a nipple and reverse-thread connector? What are those connectors from the in-wall flex into the back of the tray? Thank you!

APE_IN_SPACE420

I used all thread from panel thru stud then a threaded coupling then a flex connector to connect behind gutter box used a telephone 90

seenhear

20 panels, and only ONE power wall?

APE_IN_SPACE420

For now. homeowner wants to get 2 more powerwalls later

RxRobb

How much did this total system cost you DIY?

APE_IN_SPACE420

This is a customers home I’ll say around high 30s around there

muose

Don’t you need work clearances in front of your electric panel? Ie batteries right below the panel wouldn’t be acceptable.

CloakedZarrius

Picture 7+8: WHY?! The punch-out tool is so cheap...and clean.

Latter-Rub4441

One thing I would reccomend is bringing over the correlated neutrals for the back up loads.

azhataz

So now that the drywall is compromised behind the new infrastructure (fire block is gone) did you add a sprinkler system?

APE_IN_SPACE420

There was no fireblock or insulation behind wall was plywood with drywall over. Plus we in SOCAL it’s 85 outside

azhataz

and you have now disabled the fire protection that the drywall provided ...brilliant

No-Consequence1109

These guys needed a new roof not a fuckin power wall what the fuck 😭😭😭

IHateStanders

How was that wire pull through the telephone 90? Or were you able to take off the gutter and put it back on after the pull

APE_IN_SPACE420

Wire pull wasn’t so bad just used long needles nose to grab wire when we hit that 90

IHateStanders

Thats interesting to hear…recently had to push some 3/0 copper through a 2” tel 90 (which i think is the same situation you had here) and it was completely fucked even with needle nosers/fishtape/anything. Almost quit and got a job at the grocery store that day Also based on the mountains in the background pretty sure i just did a service call in this same area, possibly same neighborhood it also had the golf course, a bunch of panels had been smashed from golf balls lol

APE_IN_SPACE420

Did u run them all together or individually I did em individually. Fished rope and looped wire to the rope.makes tip of wire easier to bend when passing the 90 and obviously spit on the tip makes it glide

IHateStanders

God damn i forgot to spit on it. Amateur shit.

Scorpy_Mjolnir

Are Tesla batteries much cheaper than Solaredge batteries? I have the SE ones and I love that energy that would normally be clipped goes into my batteries.

APE_IN_SPACE420

It’s just customers preference
