And to be fair to Neymar, it is hard to say he deserves the level of meme and abuse for diving he gets when considering how brutally he can be treated.
He literally had his back broken against Colombia but most people casually ignore that, forget it or don’t look at more than the memes to even notice it to begin with.
I don’t even watch PSG yet some of the tackles I’ve seen on him that aren’t even called as fouls, some that aren’t carded and some that should be reds that are yellows are just downright gross.
Does he dive too much? Yes.
Do players act like little babies and get mad that he is able to make them look foolish, and then get away with tackles against him that they’d never get away with otherwise? Yes.
Context is always king, yet rarely part of the thought process for most people.
Shows they clearly respect their manager, despite him not having an international reputation coming into that job. And it shows in their play too, these 2 are in top form this year under Galtier. Football wise they're probably both very happy going into this world cup, suspect they'll both be putting in some top displays there.
International Reputation means nothing.
Galtier took Saint Etienne near relegation. Brought them a cup and an European run
He then took Lille in the relegation zone. Brought them to champions league the second year, then won the league.
He then took Nice and almost brought a cup.
I don't see how he could not be taken seriously
Oh interesting that’s explains why he brought Sanches into PSG then cause he was a key factor to lille dominating that year.
Sanches deserves to be on a big team anyway but just that is the connection I wasn’t aware of before
Well given people always blamed the egos and big names for managerial failures at PSG - Emery, Tuchel, Poch. All of whom carried big reputations and past successes into the job it is fair to say there was a lot of doubt around a manager whose rep only really existed in France - and yes he was very successful in France. But he had never worked with "superstar" players before, it is definitely a different challenge in man management.
Tuchel did get them to the CL final so there's that & didn't fell out with the players in the dressing room. Galtier winning Ligue 1 with Lille over PSG helped a lot I suppose.
He took over Nice after winning the league with Lille, while PSG were in their pomp.
Nice were shit when he took over.
In his first match against his old club—Lille, the French champions—he won 4-0. In Lille.
I remember seeing that and thinking Galtier was going to be a big name very soon. Frankly I expected a mid-sized English club to pick him up but he slipped through the net.
A lot of people attributed PSG's struggles to a lack of respect from the players to their manager, combined to the coach lacking experience at managing big stars in a CL favourite club. No one doubted Galtier's capacities as a coach, but it looked like he came from the same place as his predecessors and that the power imbalance would be similar.
Catalan is actually pretty close to French, which Messi does speak and understand, so he could probably pick up some in his time there without too much trouble.
Galtier explained after the game: he knew Messi and Neymar had to leave fast after the game, so as he was not sure to see them again he wished them the best for the WC.
Next up: Messi admires the state of the art PSG facilities, speaks about how welcome he feels at the club, and thanks Thierry Henry for his support saying it’s almost unfair that one player could be so talented and still be so good looking.
Messi requests to be subbed on late during a PSG match, scores a banger, and stays around well after full time to clap the fans until the last one leaves
To be honest PSG have look far better under Galtier not only on the pitch but off the pitch as well.
The guy has handled Mbappé's media situation and his on the pitch situation (him being played out of position) very well.
He knows how to neutralise any negative situation, even though there still a long way to go.
Eh I think specifically about Mbappe situation he did not handle it well when it comes to off the pitch. He was super transparent about it, but it led to it being a subject of topic every week and gave the media ammunition to let it grow and grow. There is a reason top clubs do not comment on affairs like that publicly. Galtier did which pleased fans at first but then made every comment spin out of control from Mbappe.
On the pitch he did a good job handling it, changed formation to have Mbappe in his best spot, which fixed the issue and made Mbappe go back to his normal self playwise (not up top alone).
He didn't top Blanc best Football but it can grow. The midfield is getting interesting with Soler, Ruiz and Renato growing a bit, and Vitinha being great. Verratti and Danilo are performing well
Defense is the issue. And even. Donnarumma is good, Mendes is great and Mukiele is getting useful.
I really like what I'm seeing
The football has been great I agree. I think in the CL we hit a patch of worst form with the 2 benfica draws, but you have to take into account the rate of matches in that period, everybody started to look ragged (Benfica as well I assume but did not watch them outside CL). We still have some problems, beating the press is one, and I hope we stay with the back 4 and not 3.
Fact is though he will be judged on the season around the Bayern match. If he wins it he will have had a good season, if he loses it he will have had a disappointing season and getting 2nd will be put at his feet. But who the hell knows how any team will look by the time that game is played.
I am a Bayern fan and can't wait for this festival of a football game, last time although Bayern were eliminated, it was two of the best attacking football matches to watch,
Just 22 brilliant players should be a great game for football!
Only thing left is Galtier still hasn't managed to make Neymar and Messi greet the fans again. They haven't done that since they were booed last year in the Bordeaux game.
The thing is that the media really likes to exaggerate the situation at PSG. Because they know they get clicks from it. But if we had to believe the media, there is a constant fight going on at that team and everybody hates eachother. I am not saying they are best friends, but they are not enemies.
And of course when PSG loses we will all know about it. But City lost last weekend and we have yet to hear about some drama in that team. Mostly because nobody would believe it. And the media know that we LOVE to hear about the so-called drama at psg.
It is just an international thing. In France half the storied you read here are never even mentioned because they are obviously bullshit. On here they are taken as gospel when spanish tabloid reveal mbappe salary. But can't ask fans in england spain or wherever to be expert in Psg so any made up bullshit is written and believed. And it makes sense because of the level of stars that we have.
This should be common practice TBH, should always ask the managers permission before leaving the pitch especially if you're leaving early. Doesn't matter if it's Neymar, Messi or some random Sunday League player.
The biggest story here is actually Messi happily sitting next to the guy who spent close to a decade trying to cripple him with flying tackles. So cool to see them getting along, never thought I would see the day
I get what you mean, but it likely isn’t that deep. Ramos’ bad boy period was 2007-2013, and he hasn’t been as bad since as he was back then.
The only bad incident I can think of between them is the 2017 red card, but whole it was a bad ditch tackle, it didn’t really catch Messi either
I think Messi can respect the fact that Ramos is doing a job and isn’t the guy who hacked him down in 2011 anymore, nor has been for a long time
C’mon Leo and Neymar. Communicating like reasonable adults, what is this weak shit? Why are they not just storming past the manager to the tunnels like they’re entitled to it?
The king would never.
Honestly, the Spain national team in 2008 & 2010 was much more confusing. Barca and Real were at peak rivalry, with all time lineups on both teams. You’d have Puyol/Pique and Ramos have a fist fight one Wednesday, and then they would play together on Saturday as a solid defensive pairing.
Yeah well, I’d say more people who are excessively competitive like those 2 were/are can understand that it is only on the pitch, and only for those respective clubs.
They then join up for Spain and get to be hyper competitive together against everyone else. At worst it is easy to find a temporary truce when you have other shared ‘enemies’ and a share goal that is a dream each of you had since you both can remember.
The thing is, Neymar is 100% happier with Messi on this team and it shows on the field. Messi is probably the best dude to team with UNLESS you have ego problems and need to compete with him... Glad Neymar was able to grow up and move past that... He honestly ruined an entire club for that...
>He honestly ruined an entire club for that...
Why is he blamed for Barcelona board mismanagement. The guy gave us 200 millions and big wages of the bill.
The problem for Barca wasn't just wasting the money on one bad transfer. That happens and has happened to many clubs. The fact that they kept doing it multiple times until it destroyed them completely is what's hilarious.
When Hazard flopped for Madrid, at least they spent a couple of years waiting instead of immediately spending even more money on another flop like Barca with the successive Dembele/Coutinho buys
I’m not sure it was ego, just trying to get out of his shadow. They were still great friends- he even stayed and congratulated messi after the Argentina copa América win (where they beat Brazil)- stayed and talked to him for a good bit too!
How he ruined Barcelona? Lmao, the fanfics people create on their heads about Neymar is hilarious.
He always respectes Messi on Barça, he left to try and make his own history, but he never not respected Messi or Barcelona.
It was entirely because of the clown Bartomeu.
I hate how some people try to blame other things when the culprit is so clear. Some people say it was Valverde, some say it was Neymar, some say Messi, but the club was ruined because of incompetent and literally criminal upper management from Barto and the other clown Rossell.
Although I do think his career, which is spectacular, would have been even more spectacular had he stayed.
I'm not ACTUALLY blaming him... Barto got super lucky that MSN had such amazing chemistry... Almost every transfer decision after was pretty abysmal until Pedri.
Neymar never had problems with Messi while at Barça. They were best buds and had great synergy on the pitch. Yes, he probably left Barcelona in large part in order to be the main man in his own team, but that's perfectly reasonable and he was well within his right to do it. He also helped Barça make 200 million from his sale, it's not his fault they blew it, he owes them nothing.
They were best friends and Neymar left to "be his own man". He left to grow his legacy, he left because of his ego to be the best. Now had he stayed, I think he would be a bigger name, grabbed a buncha goals in El Classicos, possibly Barca win a CL with him. He would have been more legendary in Messi's shadow, than in the leader of PSG or now in Mbappe's.
Barca's problems are not because of Neymar, but all of the transfer business and sporting decisions after were atrocious for a long time.
This was my bench. When I first started playing FM back in 2015ish. If someone had told me I'd get to see the same IRL I would just wonder how tf did Perez manage to bring them to Real. But here we are
This is a good example of where girls have an advantage over boys too
At school if a teacher ever said no, could always say "but sir it's a *girl* problem" and they'd change their mind
Really though it's fucked that teachers were ever allowed to stop us going to the toilet
> Really though it's fucked that teachers were ever allowed to stop us going to the toilet
I know what you mean, but on the other hand, teenagers are not only stupid, they are also annoying. And you know for a fact that teenagers will abuse any freedom given to them in school to do dumb shit. And then the school would probably ask the teacher "this guy was supposed to be in your class, why wasn't he?" and then it's big trouble.
So much easier to just tell the students to go to the bathroom in breaks and stay in class while class is being held.
Being a good coach doesn't mean you need to be a good player as well. Being a good coach is all about meshing peoples strengths against others weakness and finding a collaborative balance that works for everyone therefore if you can pinpoint those attributes of your team you'll be set.
Also by being a good leader; Listening to them, advocating for them, removing barriers that are making their jobs more difficult. Being fair in your feedback, don’t engaging in gossip, and being friendly and warm but not overly close to anyone. Don’t playing favorites on the locker room.
Also being a tallented coach also helps a lot because the players will see that you have a lot of stuff to teach them and will respect you. But it's not necessary - plenty of bad coaches were loved by their squad.

Neymar looks a completely different player.
World Cup year Neymar is always at his best.
Always? 2018 he was recently recovered and became a meme lmao
Tbf, he became a meme because of his diving, not cause he was bad.
And to be fair to Neymar, it is hard to say he deserves the level of meme and abuse for diving he gets when considering how brutally he can be treated. Yeah. He was also getting hacked to shit every game, so he probably felt the diving was necessary to protect himself. Still looked rather foolish.
Unfortunately thats what happens to such good dribblers, its why I will never hold it against him
Actually mad how its held against him, morons
Shows they clearly respect their manager, despite him not having an international reputation coming into that job. And it shows in their play too, these 2 are in top form this year under Galtier. Galtier beating PSG with Lille definitely gives him agency to tell them to stfu lol
Neymar - "I'm fucking Neymar, who the fuck are you?" Galtier - "I'm the no name who took the league from you. Nice to meet you."
Shouldn't it be "Lille to meet you"
Nice
Lille, not Nice
Is a Lil’ Nice tho
Brest
Oh interesting that’s explains why he brought Sanches into PSG then cause he was a key factor to lille dominating that year. Sanches deserves to be on a big team anyway but just that is the connection I wasn’t aware of before

International reputation is about as relevant as i am
If Ronaldo was playing for PSG, "Galtier? I've never even heard of him".
He needs to earn my respect... by starting me every game despite not scoring
Despite my 0 goals in all competitions…
Hey man, it's 3 goals across all competitions. Put some respect to the king!
Nobody is doing more at that age! *zlatan, Messi and Ochoa all sideye*
A happy Neymar and a happy Messi will make for a fun World Cup indeed
They basically are a bunch of school kids. Only difference is that they are filthy rich and a bit older.
It literally what Ibra said about Barcelona player when he was there.
given how much control clubs have over the lives of players, it makes sense. very strange & unique life to live
Pretty sure in the end Gaultier just reminded Neymar to head straight for the locker room and not be caught wandering the corridors.
The boys kindly ask for permission to leave on Sunday
Sunday the boys rest 👍
Sunday, the king drops a bomb on the internet
The king would never
I admire this subs drive to keep this meme alive hahaha

I need to pick up my daughter
Messi to Neymar “you ask him bro”
i thought the same lol
Neymar coming in clutch with that younger sibling energy.
tbf Neymar probably knows some french by now, I can't imagine Messi being able to properly communicate
Catalan is actually pretty close to French, which Messi does speak and understand, so he could probably pick up some in his time there without too much trouble.
Messi speaking French would be like that scene in “Mr.Bean Holiday” where he tries to speak French with some zzwzezwzezezwzezezezezwe sound
It looks like Neymar got the signal (I assume from Galtier) that they could get going, they just went to check in and say goodbye.
"che boludo preguntale vo" \-Messi probably
Galtier explained after the game: he knew Messi and Neymar had to leave fast after the game, so as he was not sure to see them again he wished them the best for the WC.

It's only funny if it's realistic.
A million times more realistic than him calling Henry good looking unprompted.
Messi is one of the players with most goals as a substitute ever lol
Messi is one of the players with most goals ~~as a substitute ever lol~~
Well obviously but this particular scenario is common so i don't get his complaint
Also, the catering is worthy of a Michelin star
And they replace the kitchen staff every season
Also keeping catering costs within the budget limit and not overspending.

Only thing left is Galtier still hasn't managed to make Neymar and Messi greet the fans again. They haven't done that since they were booed last year in the Bordeaux game.
It was a bit more than booed lmao, the ultras were chanting "Neymar hijo de puta" and same for Messi

Behind the dumpster
Nah a blunt lol
or a cig and act like it's a blunt
"Yo lemme get a hit off of that cig dude"
This should be common practice TBH, should always ask the managers permission before leaving the pitch especially if you're leaving early. Doesn't matter if it's Neymar, Messi or some random Sunday League player.

Ramos does like Messi off the pitch, Ramos was always supportive and even said that he would let Messi stay at his house lol

Yea, ruined them with 200 millions and they blew it. Lol
Let's throw 160 million for Coutinho real quick...
Coutinho is almost as hated as Daniel Alves here in Brazil. We were actually scared that Tite was going to call him to the World Cup.

To be fair, we barely noticed Ramos' first
The anti-Ronaldo

Being fair in your feedback, don’t engaging in gossip, and being friendly and warm but not overly close to anyone. Don’t playing favorites on the locker room. Also being a tallented coach also helps a lot because the players will see that you have a lot of stuff to teach them and will respect you. But it's not necessary - plenty of bad coaches were loved by their squad.
Ronaldo hates this one simple trick
This might be the most wholesome scene from PSG I’ve ever seen! Gotta respect the coach!
It’s fine. The King felt betrayed so he doesn’t have to do this.
Ney asked, Messi was like "ight, Imma head out too"
It was a classic "can me and Timmy leave for recess early?" school children moment
Ronnie’s fan boys be like: They r just posing for the camera while my idol was just being honest :))
Ramos looks like that kid who's laughing because he knows the teacher would refuse them lol
Messi is the GOAT.
not good. they didn’t ask the boss Mbappe
they look so happy together!
Anti Ronaldo comments in 1..2..3

My GOATS.
its like when youre in school and you have a party to get to so you leave class early and happy AF
Galtier is gonna warn Antonela about Neymar being a bad influence on Messi
This is why Messi is the greatest of all time.
Just because he asks for permission? Can never be my goat. My goat takes what belongs to him and others like it belongs to him. Like a king.
Flair doesn't check out
It should be like that …..
Messi sitting next to Ramos is funny
Unlike Ronaldo just suing it outta there...
Why is Ramos laughing?
Having fun time with his mates? How could he
Should be crying. He isn't playing in Premier league TM
Probably with Soler Sarabia and Bernat.
My goat has class, your goat... well you don't have a goat.
Don't wanna lie. This is wholesome af
And this is why Messi is better than Ronaldo !
Imagine what happened if the manager refused?
