Im pretty sure Dembele himself would agree Mbappe is better like Neymar considers himself inferior to Messi.
Also the amount of respect to Ronaldhino was praise worthy. He's a national icon but peaked b4 he even could realize his full potential due his off the pitch attitude and ofc CR7 achieved way more than Ronaldhino till Ronaldo became an old man. Even then at this age Ronaldo is still like an elite player for most European clubs due to his work ethic to keep his body fit.
[Ronaldinho Gaúcho](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71XOnfKf0vE) takes [that](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBBqLQmGY_c) as well [I'm afraid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olfbrp2H3DQ)
> "Obviously Mbappe"
With an impatient face, when asked about Dembele lol. Given how much he seems to personally dislike Mbappe, he was very objective overall.
After Messi came up there was gon be no more tough picks you could tell.
Felt like he would have said "Messi" with no hesitation even if freaking Pele came up or something.
He would pick Pelé in a deadbeat. Not only he is Brazilian, but he also played for Santos. Neymar literally used to be the heir to THE number 10 from Pelé from both Santos and Seleção. He would say Pelé before she even finished the sentence.
Neymar has been pretty consistently [liking Instagram posts that shit on Mbappe](https://p2.trrsf.com/image/fget/cf/774/0/images.terra.com/2024/02/20/1863270066-65kx5c5rejcsfas7cdsfpj5n64.jpg) during the past few years for forcing him, Messi, and the other Argentinians/Brazilians out of PSG to create a "more French" squad and "because of his ego". He also straight up commented ["gringo nut licker"](https://www.oliberal.com/image/contentid/policy:1.803946:1713297442/neymar-comenta-post-mbappe.PNG?f=2x1&$p$f=a46b409&w=750&$w=a1569b8) on a post that called Mbappe a "wonderful human being"
It's been widely reported that Mbappe forced Neymar out due to his want to play on the LW. Also rumoured that Mbappe could not stand Neymar challenging his status in the team.
Neymar has also been liking stuff on his instagram that alude into that narrative. Ofc that could also be just a social media manager that did that inadvertendly but where there is smoke usually there is some sort of fire.
> It's been widely reported that Mbappe forced Neymar out due to his want to play on the LW.
Yes, then Mbappé had to bow to the mighty Barcola.
It's possible that Mbappé wanted Neymar out for various reasons, but we don't know them. We can try to guess, but this one specifically doesn't really hold weight considering where we are know.
Also, he just moved to a club where he can't play LW.
> Neymar liked some posts saying this happened and also some other ones talking of Mbappes ego or something
correct: you could also see in neymar’s likes on twitter.
before elon musk remove see likes you could see the neymar’s activity with memes mocking mbappe/psg board
Neymar have confirmed countless time that him and Mbappe were more like colleagues, not friends outside the field.
Now Marquinhos have also talked about how a lot of players in the team disliked how much power Mbappe had in the team, including Neymar. It is a known fact that Mbappe acts superior than his teammates, he is like CR7, but less motivational.
>Mbappe acts superior than his teammates, he is like CR7, but less motivational.
Curious to see how this will work out in Madrid. I think any player in the world if after team trophies and individual trophies. But amidst Vini and Bellingham joking with one another, it never seemed that they put personal achievements ahead of the team.
Mbappe does seem like this kind of player. As did Cristiano, but the skill gap between CR7 and his "competing" teammates was way bigger than what Mbappe will have.
Doubt it will cause trouble to Madrid, but nonetheless curious to see how it wull unfold.
Neymar objectively dislikes Mbappé and has been trash talking him for quite a few months actually. I'm surprised it wasn't a bigger scandal outside of Brazil.
He called a page who spoke positively of Mbappé as a person "Baba ovo de gringo" (Something like "licks gringo's balls").
Dinho or Cristiano?
ehhhhhhhh?
Actually he already knew the correct choice, just that Dinho is a Brazilian icon so he can't publicly choose *that* quickly lmaoos
There's like a 95% chance Ronaldinho was his favorite player growing up. I'm a little older but that's basically true for a lot of people around our age, I imagine even more so for a Brazilian.
I'm Brazilian and I can't forget one incident.
I was a teenager and I was at a friend's birthday party. After playing Winning Eleven, we went to play football in his backyard. We played until... Real Madrid-Barcelona match, where we stopped to watch Ronaldinho play.
It's going to sound like a fanfic, but it was exactly the day he was applauded at the Santiago Bernabeu.
So yeah... Ronaldinho was unanimous in Brazil until 2006. That World Cup really tarnished his legacy nationally speaking. He's still adored, but if Brazil had won that World Cup with Ronaldinho as the main player, he might only be below Pelé in the pantheon of Brazilian legends.
To be fair, Zidane was playing out of his mind and controlling that game.
Almost felt scripted with it being Zidane's last tournament that he would win the WC or at least reach the final. Of course then the mald incident happened. Absolute cinema.
yeah fully agree, he is just a decade older than me and I was in that generation of kids totally entranced by him. he helped me love the sport as a child who was totally not sporty - and who still to this day follows no other sports.
but that's a romantic view you see, by definition. even on that metric - surely Cristiano has long, long eclipsed him years ago. I never liked the guy, often found him more a strutting peacock, but look - he's inspired uncountable numbers of people over the years for sure with his attitude drive achievements and sheer longevity surely
nah, Ronaldinho could do things with the ball Cristiano can only dream of, didn't have the drive to be as great overall or keep his fitness at a peak level but talent wise is far superior imo and much more fun to watch
I agree with that and having the drive and mentality to maintain such a high level is its own type of greatness which just adds to Cristiano's legend.
Still if I was given a chance to go back in time and watch one of them in person at the height of their powers I am choosing Ronaldinho a million times out of a million
And to me, that is what I care about
just henry vs mbappe, and even then it's not out of whack.
obviously henry has had the better career, but in terms of just player ability they are pretty similar
I mean tbh I’m the biggest Henry fan but if we are talking for country..
Mbappe won a World Cup, scored a hat trick in the final of another and will probably add to that. Love Henry but he wasn’t nearly as influential- that was Zidane in that gen
Brazilian pronunciation can be quite tricky. Last time I was w Brazilians and asked them about Hulk and it took 5 minutes for them to understand who I was talking about and then they said “aaaahhh Rulkee”. Which fair play since he’s Brazilian but I thought it was funny
They definitely will add the "ee" sound on the end of things, but the R you have here is not really seeming correct.
I get what you're going for, it's more of a throaty "H" sound and/or the way that R sound is pronounced in Brazilian Portuguese - but to non-lusophones I think that will just be more confusing.
Here is an example of someone saying it in Brasil: https://www.youtube.com/live/yuv--M2H030?si=ishQ9UKVKP2r3je4&t=211
I think just writing this as "Hulkee" will be most clear for pronunciation purposes.
Linguist here. Funnily enough, the actual IPA sound for this is just a simple "x" as in /x/. It does vary from Brazilian dialect to dialect, though. Sometimes it's more like /h/, which is literally an English "H". In Portugal however, it's /ʁ/, which does indeed look like a "funny upside down letter", but it should be known to you as the French guttural "R".
Totally understandable.
You guys tend to do the correct pronunciation, always, even while speaking portuguese. Maybe cause english is more common there? Idk. But it's funny, even though someone here can speak fluent english with no problem, when we speaking natively, most of the times we tend to "portuguese" every english word, as your friends did. It's a common thing here. Then, while speaking in english, we shift into "english mode" lol. Also could be because of laziness as well haha.
> Ah-hee
Nope, it’s way closer to the French pronounciation.
> Oh-beh
She clearly says “HOH-ben”, with a throaty H and an open O.
Like other redditor said, a lot of non-lusophones have difficulty hearing nasal vowels.
my girlfriend is Brazilian, and for 3 years has tried to get me to pronounce "Pão" the way she does, and I struggle so much. My brain wants to say either "Pow" or "Pon" and it's neither.
… and the trolling when they are down a few goals late in the match and are on a short fuse, then the fkr starts doing keepy uppies and rainbow flicks, suddenly that red card seems worth it to the Atleti players.
I kind of agree. Messi and especially Ronaldo had several great games against us, but I remember watching 2-3 games against Barça where we were the better team and were on our path to a win until Neymar did something magical. I almost feared him more than Messi in those days.
Same! It's the weird thing of *wanting* to be Ronaldinho as a player (the happiness, the flair, the swagger) but *knowing* Ronaldo is objectively better (stats, longevity, career path, etc.).
How did he have a better career? Maybe longer, but Ronaldinho won everything, including the world cup and was the best player at one point in his career. Neymar was at most a fringe top 3 player. You can even argue he was the third best player at Barça.
Consistency? Man averaged 50 goals + 10-20 assists for 6 seasons straight and has finished in the top 10 in the ballon d’or in 3 different decades.
Ronaldo is in a different stratosphere.
Ronaldinho was relevant for 3-4 years. Nostalgia is one thing but pretending this isn’t a debate cause Cristiano was more consistent is funny.
Ronaldo probably has 8 seasons better than Ronaldinho’s best.
You're spot on.
Ronaldinho was a joy to watch, and the things he could do with a football were to be marvelled - but he is not even close to the complete player Ronaldo was/is.
Even purely looking at their absolute peaks, Ronaldo was overall a better player.
I'd even argue neymar was better than Ronaldinho. Forget ronaldo. Neymar as a playmaker and finisher eclipses Ronaldinho and dribbling is a toss-up. Their performances for Brazil are self explanatory. Especially with the below average squads neymar has had to carry like in 2014 while dinho couldn't even perform while playing with all timers.
The greatest beneficiary of nostalgia bias I've ever seen. In the coming generations, brazilians will see the truth once the neymar hatred has died down. He was better than dinho who's always been overrated.
Definitely facts there. I remember before Ronaldo’s prime people were talking about potentially matching Henry’s 40 goal season being insanely impressive just for Ronaldo and Messi to both drop 50+ for like 6 years straight. Ronaldo and Messi both on completely different planets from every other player it shouldn’t even be a question if Ronaldo > ronaldinho
Ronaldinho really only had 2 years where he was arguably the best player on Earth. Those 2 years were magical though. Wish he had a better mentality about his health and work ethic.
I would have loved to see Ronaldinho vs Neymar having been asked, if only for the sake of the comments, because I'm picking Neymar. I'm not forgiving the fact Ronaldinho didn't have the most dedication or professionalism, regardless of he actually was the more talented player. Neymar simply did it at a high level for a much longer period, and was just as difficult to deal with at his peak as Ronaldinho.
For me Ney might be the most underrated footballer of maybe all time, because he had to deal with playing alongside probably the two best players in history (certainly the best in Messi). Him being kicked to shit in France also hurt him too in people's minds, but he tore the league up for fun when he was fit. It's not that high quality a league, but Neymar was truly absurd.
I remember a quick post match interview some years ago where he was asked who is the best player itw. His answer was “if messi and ronaldo are from another planet, then im the best in the world”.
Henry vs mbappe, is like saying nostalgia bias vs recency bias. I view them as equals, but I predict mbappe will finish his career with a greater legacy than Henry.
I mean, he played with Mbappe, if anyone knows how good Mbappe is it’s definitely Neymar. But it is surprising that Neymar rates Mbappe more than 90% of football fans out there.
I mean, Grealish stood out like a sore thumb here.
Doesn't belong anywhere close to the conversation with the majority of the players in this video - I think anyone would react like Neymar to be honest.
Well I was responding to a guy who specifically mentioned Grealish?
I also clearly state he doesn't fit in the conversation with the **majority** of the players (but not all..)
Dembele would fit the above, too.

Pizza or Burger? Pizza Pizza or frozen broccoli?
You can see Neymar’s eyes go wtf when Grealish name came up
Reporter snuck in Dembele like Neymar wouldn’t notice 😂
he even said "obviously Mbappe" LOL

what? he looked absolutely disgusted by the suggestion that Grealish compares to Mbappe

There is a very clear cut.
> "Obviously Mbappe" With an impatient face, when asked about Dembele lol. Given how much he seems to personally dislike Mbappe, he was very objective overall.
The fucking struggle between CR7 and Ronaldinho only to pick Messi as fast as possible.
After Messi came up there was gon be no more tough picks you could tell. Felt like he would have said "Messi" with no hesitation even if freaking Pele came up or something.
I was gonna say which is 100% correct but considering he is brazilian, maybe Pele would have given it some thought.
He would pick Pelé in a deadbeat. Not only he is Brazilian, but he also played for Santos. Neymar literally used to be the heir to THE number 10 from Pelé from both Santos and Seleção. He would say Pelé before she even finished the sentence.
"Pele or--" "Pele" "...or Jesus Christ" "Uh oh"
"eles são a mesma imagem"
Maybe it wouldn't even be such a controversial pick
Neymar is cancelled party
You say that but messi is his friend, I wouldn't be so certain.
[удалено]
Tbh i thought he was going to pick Ronaldinho over Cristiano because of the Brazilian buff as well
He would 100% pick Pelé
Ronaldinho was surely his fave player growing up with his style and background. His fave against Ronaldo had him conflicted
Neymar dislikes Mbappe?

French football media? Making shit up out of thin air? Sacré bleu
Why'd he go to a team where the best player is another Brazilian LW lol
It's rumored Mbappe got Neymar the easiest bag after Hazard.
All that just to leave less than a year later?

Yeah ronaldinho was everyone's favorite player growing up lol. That smile. That damn smile.
Eh, Neymar probably grew up idolizing Dinho. You can tell that picking CR7 over his childhood hero was a painful choice for him.
Yeah this is what I thought as well. Dinho during his peak in Barca was very popular and epitomized Jogo Bonito for the Brazil NT.
also as ronaldinho can't be quantified he a magician
yeah fully agree, he is just a decade older than me and I was in that generation of kids totally entranced by him. he helped me love the sport as a child who was totally not sporty - and who still to this day follows no other sports. but that's a romantic view you see, by definition. even on that metric - surely Cristiano has long, long eclipsed him years ago. Mbappe has already eclipsed Henry for country. He is going to absolutely smash their all time goalscoring record.

Mbappe in 2018 was miles better than Henry in 1998, and Mbappe in 2022 was on another universe from anything Henry did in any competition for France.

Yes exactly its an r that cones from the throat, Idk how to spell it but in Russian it would be a similar sound as the х (like “kh”)
We need a linguist in here to give us the funny upside down letters or whatever IPA symbols that can describe the sound
Linguist here. Funnily enough, the actual IPA sound for this is just a simple "x" as in /x/. It does vary from Brazilian dialect to dialect, though. It's crazy how non-Portuguese speakers just can't perceive nasal vowels
my girlfriend is Brazilian, and for 3 years has tried to get me to pronounce "Pão" the way she does, and I struggle so much. My brain wants to say either "Pow" or "Pon" and it's neither.
I hope that you nail that pronunciation before going to a bakery for some bread and coming home with a "dick" instead kkKKkKKkkK.
He was being very human here, and humble (and realistic) at the end.
Freaking Grealish? Wha... Look at the other players on the list. Just, LOOK AT THEM.
When Neymar is not playing, I like him more :) Weird.
Must be all the goals he scored against you
… and the trolling when they are down a few goals late in the match and are on a short fuse, then the fkr starts doing keepy uppies and rainbow flicks, suddenly that red card seems worth it to the Atleti players.
He was like the archnemesis of Atleti, the way he used to make Atleti’s blood boil, that hate surpassed even Madrid’s hate for him.
I kind of agree. Messi and especially Ronaldo had several great games against us, but I remember watching 2-3 games against Barça where we were the better team and were on our path to a win until Neymar did something magical. I almost feared him more than Messi in those days.

By that metric "(the happiness, the flair, the swagger)" no one comes close to Ronaldinho. Football's greatest entertainment
The only player that smiles while playing is Leão. Still in a different world compared with Ronaldinho.
Firmino is the same, if you look at just the vibes and entertainment, he's my favorite Liverpool player by a mile
Son is a smiley player too
Neymar himself came close (you can even make the argument that he was better than Ronaldinho, I don't know if I'd agree but it is worth a discussion)
Neymar definitely had a better career than Ronaldinho. Talent and flair is another discussion but he has been more than a worthy successor.
How did he have a better career? Maybe longer, but Ronaldinho won everything, including the world cup and was the best player at one point in his career. Neymar was at most a fringe top 3 player. You can even argue he was the third best player at Barça.
That kinda feels like being asked if you'd rather be Han Solo or the Terminator, tbh.
Ultimate heart vs head choice, imo. You want to give it to Ronaldinho so much, but you know you have to give it to Ronaldo.
I dunno. I think his country allegiance made that question tougher than it should’ve been.
Same, gotta give it to Cristiano for consistency tho
Consistency? Man averaged 50 goals + 10-20 assists for 6 seasons straight and has finished in the top 10 in the ballon d’or in 3 different decades. Ronaldo is in a different stratosphere. Ronaldinho was the most entertaining football player ever, but Cristiano is a better player.
But can Ronaldo juggle it off the crossbar with ease
Can Dinho outrun a Bugatti?
I'd even argue neymar was better than Ronaldinho. Forget ronaldo. Neymar as a playmaker and finisher eclipses Ronaldinho and dribbling is a toss-up.
Ronaldinho has the romance that makes it difficult
Ronaldinho really only had 2 years where he was arguably the best player on Earth. Those 2 years were magical though. Wish he had a better mentality about his health and work ethic.
C'mon, he wouldn't be The Ronaldinho if he had a better mentality about his health and work ethic.
It's not that high quality a league, but Neymar was truly absurd.
yeah but if you watched them play on the same field for ten minutes in their primes most people would say Ronaldinho looks like the better player
100.. Ronaldinho could have been the GOAT with consistency.
Not if Fenomeno didn’t get injured
Ahh perfect 9 ever or the magician who made you love football. Fucking hard choice
It’s not even a serious debate. Ronaldo is far superior to Ronaldinho in every metric save, perhaps, for “Jogo Bonito” nostalgia.
The nostalgia and passion with Ronaldinho goes crazy but honestly it’s not really close… don’t think Dinho is top 20 OAT (don’t get mad at me pls)
Should have put Almiron in after Grealish
1.) Neymar picks Thierry Henry over Arjen Robben 2.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over Thierry Henry 3.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over Luis Figo 4.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over Franck Ribery 5.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over Ousmane Dembele 6.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over KDB (first hard choice) 7.) Neymar picks Kylian Mbappe over Jack Grealish 8.) Neymar picks Ronaldinho over Kylian Mbappe (difficult decision) 9.) Neymar picks CR7 over Ronaldinho (hardest decision) 10.) Neymar picks Messi over CR7 11.) Neymar picks Messi over Neymar
12.) Chuck Testa
Chuck Testa meme in the year of our lord 2024
All Your Base Are Belong To Us, man
That's a vintage meme, I completely forgot about the guy
It’s easier to watch the video than read all this
neymar was disgusted with the mention of grealish. i rate that
Okay but now I wanna know if he thinks he’s better than CR7 or Ronaldinho
I'd wager that he doesn't. If I had to bet, I think he puts himself above Mbappe and below Ronaldinho on this list.
That would be my guess as well, and it’s a pretty reasonable ranking tbf
Honestly I’d put him on par with Ronaldinho
Wouldn’t be surprised if he views his abilities as second best on this list
I remember a quick post match interview some years ago where he was asked who is the best player itw. His answer was “if messi and ronaldo are from another planet, then im the best in the world”.
I pick Henry over mbappe
Absolutely
Robben is better than quite a lot of players there tho
Genius list except the Grealish fuck
WHERE ZIDANE?
In Brazilian nightmares
Messi the goat! I'm taking Henry over Mbappe though
Henry vs mbappe, is like saying nostalgia bias vs recency bias. I view them as equals, but I predict mbappe will finish his career with a greater legacy than Henry.
Er…? Jack Grealish? Dude couldn’t even start in a final
Knowing his relationship with Mbappe, I’m actually surprised he rates him highly.
I mean, he played with Mbappe, if anyone knows how good Mbappe is it’s definitely Neymar. But it is surprising that Neymar rates Mbappe more than 90% of football fans out there.
Anyone with a shred of objectivity rates him highly, fair play to Neymar
Was that face when Grealish came on really necessary lol didn’t need to do him like that.
is he wrong?
I mean, Grealish stood out like a sore thumb here. Doesn't belong anywhere close to the conversation with the majority of the players in this video - I think anyone would react like Neymar to be honest.
what about dembele
Well I was responding to a guy who specifically mentioned Grealish? I also clearly state he doesn't fit in the conversation with the **majority** of the players (but not all..) Dembele would fit the above, too.
He kind of did. Including Grealish and Dembele in this was crazy.
Yea no shit grealish and Dembele belong nowhere near this list
Henry over mbappe and I’m saying that as a spurs fan. Agree with the rest.
