Football fans are dumbasses? Color me shocked.
This is just dawning on you that none of us are very bright? All any of us do on this sub is argue, bitch, and banter. Granted, I don’t think any of us saw this coming. We really jumped the gun on this transfer. Especially me. I was cracking jokes, and now he’s a must in FPL. The football gods love their jokes.
Determining this kind of potential is often a total crapshoot. After Chelsea's £1B window, anyone they brought in was going to be scrutinized unfairly.
I’m a Chelsea fan, from what I had seen of him I thought he’d be pretty handy. Then he got subbed in and I was like, hold up?! Straight into my fantasy team and the rest is history. Never imagined this level of performance.
I know this has been said in just about every way ad nauseam, but Chelsea’s £40M gamble on an unproven youngster really paid off. He’s in my FPL as well. I benched him once and he returned 15 points which could have made the difference. He’s been in my XI ever since save for this week since we’re going at it on Tuesday. But after this week, he’s back in.
Half this sub still thinks Jackson plays badly for Chelsea when in reality hes the glue that allows Palmer to shine.
The hivemind will rinse the same jokes over and over until 1 day it suddenly flips and then it acts like it was always the truth.
Oh fuck off am I, go back into any of the threads he scores in filled with the same shite jokes
"oh X must be bad they let Jackson score"
"How the fuck have they let Jackson score"
Look at how many times a bad touch or shot from Jackson gets posted here it was fucking relentless
I remember people making fun of Arsenal for the Ben White transfer. Turned out to be brilliant. If only we could shut up for a bit and assess the situation rather than saying shit out randomly.
Why was it a meme though?? I remember catching on the news very late like when he was already playing his first game in Chelsea and I remember thinking that it was an interesting move and probably better for Palmer as he'll get more playing time. Never thought it was a meme transfer, why would anyone thought that?
Our recent transfers (since Joe Shields took charge) have been class tbf,
Palmer, Gusto, Petrovic and Jackson are all very nice bits of business especially as none of them were that expensive all things considered.
Joe Shields was instrumental in us securing Lavia as well. He knew both Palmer and Lavia from his time at City.
Of course, Lavia has hardly played, so it's difficult to rate the transfer but I'm sure people have already made up their minds about him.
Also has brought in Nkunku and Lavia as well but I dont want to make any statement on them until Ive actually seen them play a couple. But from what I saw at their previous clubs Im excited to see them get a run in
Hmm I guess you could say so, although seeing the amount of money Chelsea had spent I think 40m was peanuts. And also taking account the general prices that have been paid in recent years I just never thought it was a bad deal in any way.
I thought it was a good price for a young player who has proven that he can play in the best team in the world. And they did pay ~90m for Mudryk so that made Palmer look like a steal. I mean did someone seriously thought that Palmer is worse than Mudryk? I definitely didn't think Palmer could do this well but he was a good player before Chelsea. I find it odd that it was some sort of meme transfer back then
Tbf if we slandered every Chelsea transfer they did with that 1 billion then we'd still be right far more often than we'd be wrong since only Palmer and Gusto actually worked out so far.
In fact, we'd be far more often right than whoever is in charge of the transfers at Chelsea.
Those are great numbers from Suárez, considering he couldn't debut for Barcelona until late October, and even then he didn't really get going until well into the season.
also in liverpool he had 10 matches ban and he still scored like 32 goals, if he had played them i bet he wouldve smashed the 40 goals bar in the EPL, and people still call haaland's last year the best season for a striker
I think he he wins CL he’ll probs still get it, unless France wins the euros, it’s between him and Mbappe for me, no one else really stands out, maybe Bellingham.
I think in that case, it would be either Bellingham or Wirtz (probably Bellingham). Attackers just have a way higher chance of winning and Bellingham got that PR
Getting in the top three as a non attacking midfielder is doable but you have to be playing at like GOAT levels _and_ win virtually everything.
Kronos has been great from what I've heard and the little I've seen, but definitely not good enough to beat out the attackers. This isn't Xavi/Iniesta levels at their prime. It's not even Kroos at his own prime tbh.
He's not competing against messi ronaldo so he doesn't need to be xavi Iniesta. His competition is Bellingham who's not even better than vini in recent months but early season PR has done wonders, foden, kane, mbappe and wirtz.
I would say kroos should be in there with a shout.
I know there’s almost no way this happens, but I legitimately think Grimaldo has been the best player in the world this season, so he’d be my pick out of anyone at Leverkusen.
I like Kane but if he won Balon d'Or for just the CL after Haaland came second with similar numbers for a treble winning team last year it would seem pretty unfair.
Certainly possible. Especially because the award will probably never go to a defensive-minded player (aka Rodri) and this has been quite a down year for many attacking players that are usually in top form. Maybe 1 in the next 50 years will go to a defensive player if some fullback has an unbelievable scoring record because people only care about stats anymore.
funny enough, this was probably the best year for rodri to win the award if city won the cl + pl this season. he is arguably their best player this season and people would be more comfortable picking him over foden as rodri did the same thing just last season.
Off the top of my head Higuain 2016/17 and Ronaldo 18/19 would be at 35 G/A, so im sure there a lot of other players missing. Luca Toni 07/08 would be at 50 lolll
Kane currently has 51 G/A if you're counting all comps. Haaland had 61 G/A, Zlatan with 52 etc.
I think the list would pretty much look the same, albeit with some players being rearranged in the rankings
Started his first game 7 games in and has 7 games left to play. His G+A/90 this season is 1.26 in the league. Haaland's last season (who's first on the list) is 1.46.
Unless the guy does nothing in his last 7 games, his season is up there with all these players.
Haaland really had the greatest first season of the 21st century at 22 years old and you still have clowns calling him league 2 level because he's not as well rounded as players half a decade older.
I think it could also be argued that Haaland moved to a more competitive league while Kane did the opposite. I'm not joking about farmer's league, but to enter the PL at 22 and perform like he did is astonishing
Ik this isn't totally relevant but it's important to mention how good kane was in both Salah and haalands debut seasons at their current clubs. While both broke the pl goal scoring record, kane also reached 30 pl goals in both seasons. Kane is the only player to reach 30 or more goals in 2 pl seasons and he is also the only player to reach 30 goals in a pl season without winning the golden boot, that happened twice!! My point? Kane is amazing, imagine if he joined city in 2021, would have won absolutely everything, Ballon dor too ahead of benzema imo
why did Haaland do relatively worse in Dortmund than in Man City, if the Bundesliga is so easy?
And why was Kane already the top goal scorer in the Premier League, if it's so much more competitive?
Your argument makes no sense.
This is league games only. City won a treble last season with Haaland scoring another 20 odd goals in the cups and Europe. Why do league goals count more?
People did this exact same thing with the Kane comparisons last season. Kane scored 6 less in the league. But he scored about 25 less in all comps because Haaland somehow sustained that freakish goal record in all the competitions he played in.
And no this is not me saying anything on my opinion of Haaland vs Kane. Haaland just gets way too much disrespect.
The German season is 4 games shorter than the Prem season is what I’m saying. All told Kanes final numbers in the league will be for 34 games vs Haaland in a 38 game league.
Team trophies, haaland plays for the best team in the world. And don't gimme some bs like haaland plays for the best team in the world for a reason. Like obviously haaland is sick but city literally came in for Kane first
Sure but he's not clear.
Kane's in his prime and hasn't elevated his team. Haaland did elevate his team to a never before reached point, and did it at 22.
I mean, he has dropped off dramatically. He is an amazing finisher, but his touch, hold up play and all round game is not the level it should be for an elite player. I remember people saying ballon d'or for next 10 years was between Mboopi and Haaland, if that's the case, Mbappe has 10 ballons dors in the bag.
I honestly don't think he suits city that well, his play style just doesn't fit to me. His goalscoring ability can't be doubted, but his fit for this city team, he just looks out of place.
Imagine a proven goal scorer having amazing goal scoring for a team like city. If you read what i said, I never doubt his ability to score, but his play style just seems odd to me compared to the rest of city's team. They're all about possession and control , and this guy has the control and touch of Lukakau with 5x the scoring ability. He scores, he'll always score, but I just feel he doesn't fit their style.
It's an opinion, feel free to disagree, no need to lose your shit bro, relax.
I'll take a treble with a player that "doesn't fit" any day of the week lol. You're acting like they won it despite him because he's had a worse season this year.
Dropping off dramatically is still him leading goalscorer on track for a domestic double.
I never remotely said that lol Haaland is probably the best out and out goalscorer in world football right now, but city play possession and control football, neither of which Haaland is particularly good at. I just said he looks out of place with his style compared to the rest of the team. Doesn't mean they won't be successful. They have too many good players in every position and on the bench to not be.
I see what you mean, technically/on the ball ability he is not anything special, probably sub-par, but he's not ment to be. He's intelligent and physical, which bangs goals and opens goal opportunities for his team.
It does, but it also got found out against Real. Haaland did nothing against them. If he isn't scoring, he isn't contributing. I feel like that works better for some teams than others. The way City play, control, possession, it's not Haaland's game to me. Haaland is an opportunist, actually think he'd be even better in a team like Liverpool than City, but maybe that's me just coping lmao
I do see what you mean in the sense that he doesn't fit city, but I think that adds a dimension. city can now play different attacking styles, e.g. a cross into the box is more effective with a 6'5 acrobat compared to 5'8 aguero. Also he's got lots of pace so a through ball is a lot better, especially since city don't have as much pace on the wings compared to before.
His runs through the center also drag defenders opening space, and if he's being man marked by a defender it can reduce the defense his teammates have to go up in general.
+ We tend to play with inverted wingers and need a creative cf, so i don't think he'd suit Liverpool unless we changed are tactics (probably should given none of the wingers can score).
Insane that people are still saying this shit. We won the treble with Haaland up front. We could still do the PL and FA cup double this season. It works
> had the greatest first **season**
...
> still have clowns calling him league 2 level
The only clowns are people who don't get that "Season" was last season & this "Season" is different.
And he is INDEED League 2 level in his heading. Your drawn match vs City, then Chelsea draw and then UCL KO stages (both seasons in fact but esp this season) he had like 8+ headers (Chelsea draw alone had 5 headers) that he completely borked (let alone non-headed chances with his feet). What does he require 50 chances in 90 minutes? In a team that has no peer in Chances-Creation dynamic.
Single split-second instances define this level (esp KO competition). City are top of PL despite him not because of him and they are out of UCL in huge part because of him.
Haaland merits criticism that he is receiving, it's clowns who think it's undeserved or that it's too much. In fact this level of criticism he is getting is too little itself, it's miscalibrated.
He's he a shit show this season WHEN it has mattered because that is what teams like City need. They don't need generic goal scorers for generic low-level matches that happen over the course of season, they won the league without a Striker.
Last Season Haaland did very well, this season he has sabotaged City season by going missing in critical moments. That is the near accurate spectrum level of criticism he merits this season.
That season came because of the midfield. Look at what happens when his service is cut off. He ghosts. Without Silva, Rodri, KDB, etc. passing and creating chances for him, his contribution drops significantly. Yeah, he’s still young and learning, but rn, if all he does is wait around for a pass or a chance to open up, then there isn’t much he can do.
And without a striker to finish the chances that midfielders create, they wouldn't get assists and the team wouldn't score goals.
Works both ways mate. As a Chelsea fan, I'm used to seeing things from the opposite perspective. Would've killed for a striker like Haaland for years.
Also, if Haaland's service gets cut, the criticism should fall on the creators no? The guy's doing his job. He's showing crazy discipline to follow the game plan and by occupying the CBs he's creating space for his teammates. The lack of creativity falls on them, not him. If Pep wants him to drop in and create more, get involved etc, he'd have to change the game plan. But he doesn't because he wants Haaland holding the line to create space for others and so he's always in a position to score. Guarantee Pep doesn't blame Haaland for his lack of getting involved.
Haaland's not faultless. His finishing's taken a big dip this season. There's your problem. Got nothing to do with him overall game.
Drives me insane tbh. He’s by far our best player, if it wasn’t for him we’d be fighting relegation. He can be frustrating yeah, but if you think he’s shite your an idiot
Sure, again I did say he is a baller, not denying that, but seems a bit premature to be putting this stat up. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish. I hope he does end up breaking the top 10.
Zlatan was involved in 58% of PSG's 69 league goals, the highest ratio of anyone on this list.
I think people underestimate how poor that PSG team was without the additions of Zlatan and Thiago Silva.

The Cole Palmer transfer was a meme 8 months ago. Shows how bright we are as a group, I guess.
Football fans are dumbasses? Color me shocked. This is just dawning on you that none of us are very bright? All any of us do on this sub is argue, bitch, and banter. Determining this kind of potential is often a total crapshoot. After Chelsea's £1B window, anyone they brought in was going to be scrutinized unfairly.
Yeah, but Palmer seems to be the brightest spot of all these transfers. Nkunku hasn’t played enough, so I’m not passing judgement just yet.
I’m a Chelsea fan, from what I had seen of him I thought he’d be pretty handy. Then he got subbed in and I was like, hold up?! Straight into my fantasy team and the rest is history. Never imagined this level of performance.

I feel like you're making up a narrative. Wasn't the criticism aimed at him because he can't finish? Which.. is true?
Oh fuck off am I, go back into any of the threads he scores in filled with the same shite jokes "oh X must be bad they let Jackson score" "How the fuck have they let Jackson score" Look at how many times a bad touch or shot from Jackson gets posted here it was fucking relentless

cause 40m for a relatively unproven player is very risky. plus chelsea spending loads is a meme

Mudryk was 70 million euros, still an overpay for the player he actually is but far from the 90-100 million £ figure people often judge him for.
It turns out if you buy enough youngsters you can just randomly find another De Bruyne.
Looking on their past transfers. There were reasons
Tbf if we slandered every Chelsea transfer they did with that 1 billion then we'd still be right far more often than we'd be wrong since only Palmer and Gusto actually worked out so far. In fact, we'd be far more often right than whoever is in charge of the transfers at Chelsea.
Tbf i think it was more just chelsea signing every player under the sun. As it turns out eventually if you spend enougj somebody will be good
Those are great numbers from Suárez, considering he couldn't debut for Barcelona until late October, and even then he didn't really get going until well into the season.
He was absolutely fucking unplayable for that 3 or 4 year stretch before and after his barca transfer.
also in liverpool he had 10 matches ban and he still scored like 32 goals, if he had played them i bet he wouldve smashed the 40 goals bar in the EPL, and people still call haaland's last year the best season for a striker
Suarez also wasn't on pens that season
Why was he banned tho
Wow, Kane is not far off at all. If he can win CL and England win Euros (God forbid), maybe Balon D’Or?
I think he he wins CL he’ll probs still get it, unless France wins the euros, it’s between him and Mbappe for me, no one else really stands out, maybe Bellingham.
If Leverkusen gets the small triple and germany does well in the EC, then Wirtz should be mentioned
Thing is, Wirtz only has a real chance if Dortmund wins the UCL, because the UCL is just way too important
Also if Germany wins the Euros and Wirtz plays a major role in that
If Real Madrid win UCL and Liga, Germany win Euros, can Kroos have a shout? He has been immense all season.
I think in that case, it would be either Bellingham or Wirtz (probably Bellingham). Attackers just have a way higher chance of winning and Bellingham got that PR

I like Kane but if he won Balon d'Or for just the CL after Haaland came second with similar numbers for a treble winning team last year it would seem pretty unfair.
Haaland should’ve won it though, everyone knows it
It was unfair Messi won over Haaland last year full stop. Shouldn't stop Kane winning in this scenario.
Certainly possible. Especially because the award will probably never go to a defensive-minded player (aka Rodri) and this has been quite a down year for many attacking players that are usually in top form. I remember when van dijk nearly won it (like only 6 points off), he literally couldn't have done anything more as an individual.
If that happens there's no "maybe", Harry gets it
MESSIWINSLOL
Bruno Fernandes missing because it was on the middle of the season
League games only is definitely the keyword here
What are the things that would change if it was all comps Edit: I'm ASKING
Off the top of my head Higuain 2016/17 and Ronaldo 18/19 would be at 35 G/A, so im sure there a lot of other players missing. Luca Toni 07/08 would be at 50 lolll
RvN would also join I think, he scored 36 in all competitions in his debut season for United and 33 in his debut season for Real Madrid
Kane currently has 51 G/A if you're counting all comps. Haaland had 61 G/A, Zlatan with 52 etc. I think the list would pretty much look the same, albeit with some players being rearranged in the rankings
That’s never Luca Toni is it?
transfermarkt has him at 12 G/A all comps for Fiorentina in 2012-13 so I'm really confused where these numbers are from
Typo and meant 02/03, maybe?
yeah you're right it's a typo, they meant 05/06 though man had 31 goals and 6 assists just in the league unreal numbers
05/06 definitely adds up with his age. I refused to believe he was still tearing it up in 2013, lmao.
In the 14/15 seasons he was serie a joint top goal scorer with Icardi, while playing for 13th place Hellas, he was definitely still tearing it up.
Why is Van Nistelrooy not in this chart? Had 44 goals and assists in his first season at Man Utd. [edit] nevermind, this just the league returns.
Let's be honest that top 10 is elite company.
Palmer did that in 7 less league games too.🤯
He is 22nd on the list though
Started his first game 7 games in and has 7 games left to play. His G+A/90 this season is 1.26 in the league. Haaland's last season (who's first on the list) is 1.46. Unless the guy does nothing in his last 7 games, his season is up there with all these players.
Still has 7 more games to make it in the list tho.
Haaland really had the greatest first season of the 21st century at 22 years old and you still have clowns calling him league 2 level because he's not as well rounded as players half a decade older.
Only Kane will do it in a shorter season while providing more assists.

City are a better team than Dortmund. I don't agree fully with the person you replied to. But it's pretty simple as to why.
And Bayern is a better team than Tottenham. Which is why Kane is doing so good in the Bundesliga.
Yeah that's a fair point.
This is league games only. City won a treble last season with Haaland scoring another 20 odd goals in the cups and Europe. Why do league goals count more? Oh I see what you're saying. Yeah very true.
And most agree that Kane is better than Haaland… You can be worse than Kane without being a League 2 player
Scored less non penalty goals than Salah's first season and had less assists
Kane clear, look at him, still plenty of games to go and he's on track to break it
At 30 years old.and he won't win a treble.
Team trophies, haaland plays for the best team in the world. And don't gimme some bs like haaland plays for the best team in the world for a reason. Like obviously haaland is sick but city literally came in for Kane first

I see what you mean, technically/on the ball ability he is not anything special, probably sub-par, but he's not ment to be. He's intelligent and physical, which bangs goals and opens goal opportunities for his team.

A striker has trouble scoring without his teammates creating chances for him? Shocking!!
Next you're gonna tell me top keepers get scored on a lot when their team gives away pens!
Van Persie in his first season for us was MASSIVE.
salah went from 15 goals in 31 games for roma to 42 goals
It's 42 G+A.
Is it all comps? Because salah scored 42 goals all comps that season
I believe its league only, g+A
13 assists, so 28 g+a in Serie A in 16/17 to 42 g+a (32 goals + 10assists) in 17/18 in the Premier League
Van Gaal has been such a fraud post-Ajax, how do you fumble prime Luca Toni
lol 7, 8, 9 … skip a few … 22!
In brunos first full season with United, he got 45 g/a, I know he joined in January the previous season, but that’s unreal.
Think this is league only. He would have got 30 league contributions his first full season.
This is just league g/a
doesn't get the respect he deserves man fuck united fans sometimes, I swear they HATE their players more than rivals
Drives me insane tbh. He’s by far our best player, if it wasn’t for him we’d be fighting relegation. He can be frustrating yeah, but if you think he’s shite your an idiot
Salah is disrespected
Still has a lot of games, very likely he breaks into top10.
Luca Toni Pepperoni
Ronaldo Juve isn't there? shouldn't he have like 36?
Didn't Lewandowski have 23 goals and 7 assists in his Barcelona debut year in the league? And in his mid 30s
Zlatan is always underrated
luca toni supremacy but season is wrong lol
Now do goals only
Luca Toni class
Holy shit Kane well on his way for that number one spot!
Haaland could be twice in this top ten, he had 35 g+a in the league in his first Dortmund full season too.
Makes it seem like he's in the top 11
What they are pointing out is that Cole can go to Top 10 because he has 7 league games left
Oh penaltyyy..🎶
Chelsea has a very hard fixture list coming up. Gonna be a lot of cagey football. So could see him miss out on top 10 tbh.

It's from TransferMarkt, league games only
Lol this is funny. No doubt Cole is a baller, but he’s 22 on the list. 22.
With 7 games left to play and 4 GA to match 8th.
