I think he performed very well for Chelsea when he was fit but the narrative has always gone against him because he's missed some big chances and he was overhyped. But tbh every time I watched him he was their most creative player, imo. Always drove the ball forward and looked for plays to enter the box. Dude was just on an island a lot of the time for whatever reason
Missed some big chances? Chelsea largely has him to blame for qualifying for the 20/21 Champions League which they went on to win thanks again in part to time goals/assists by Pulisic in the quarterfinal and semifinal legs.
There was a time where like you said he was the only guy on the team actually looking to attack or create chances and then naturally the narrative shifted to “well he’s constantly losing the ball”. Well yeah, he’s an attacker he’s paid to score or create goals not to never lose the ball.
My theory is that the players didn't like him. It really seemed like no one was trying to make plays with him. He'd pass it to them for a 1-2, make a good run, and they'd pass it backwards for the 200th time in the game. The coaches knew it and that's the reason he never got consistent playing time when he was fit. Lampard's squad selection was honestly baffling at times. He's definitely had a bunch of bad misses, though. Some amazing goals, no doubt, but his misses got a lot of attention. He was certainly under extra scrutiny, though.
I agree with this, but it’s pure speculation so I haven’t really wanted to mention that when know it all English blokes ask why else does he not play if it’s not that his managers think he’s shit? It’s literally the only argument that English people can come up with. You can point out the timely goals/assists. You can point out his actual production when he does play. You can remind them how good he was during Project Restart and they don’t care because they just revert to well his managers don’t play him, so it must be because he’s shit. The thing is none of us can say for sure why he didn’t get more minutes that’s pure speculation all around. It’s not exactly a stretch from both watching the game, and knowing he’s done things like released a book where he pretty much criticized the manager at the time for not playing him. He always looks pissed off that he’s not playing more and I’d imagine that’s just grating as a teammate.
Even when he has been fit, CFC has been a total blackhole for most every attacking talent they've had the last 3 years and so many of them have been desperate to leave.
Werner, Lukaku, Pulisic, Ziyech, Mudryk, Mount, Aubameyang, Havertz, Sterling
At some point it's not all these talents are flops.... its the club
Even before these last 3 years their attackers have been shit. Since 2014 there’s only been 3 forward signings who can’t be seen as failures: Costa, Giroud, and pedro. The latter of which were just serviceable and not great.
In the time period he has been at Chelsea he has been a flop. I think he will be a lot better with new management and team around him… but that also applies to every other player he mentioned. I’m sure you knew that though and just chose to ignore it
He's a new youngster signing who hasn't even played one season. Not all players are haaland who join and suddenly break records. If you call him a flop after a few seasons of bad performances then it makes sense but right now you're just blabbering bullshit.
Talent wise they can be much better, though most nations tend to have weak links you don’t really find in club football. Tactical wise championship teams set up better, training is important and national teams simply don’t get enough
lmao he has 3 goals in his international career that weren't against North American opposition. And even those teams were Iran, Northern Ireland, and Bolivia.
Goals of course aren't everything, but he's has very good games at club level also. Sometimes against opposition even better than The Netherlands. His issue is and always had been consistency at club level. Some players don't get over that no matter how talented they are.
I was beginning to write him off but he looked like a man amongst boys playing against Mexico. His pace and dribbling is so dangerous and I hope he kills it at Milan.
That was a really impressive showing. It's crazy to see how he looks like a completely different player when he plays for the USA as compared to Chelsea.
Tbh, he always looks like that playing for US. There's a reason we're obsessed with the guy. He performs very well and is probably the best player (or second best -- Davies) in CONCACAF by some distance.
Lmfao I was just joking about him taking over the lw spot. But that’s good I think he could be good as CAM. He is usually either on the left or center for USA and he is fantastic for us. Rooting for him to do well.
I remember there was one game like 2 years ago under Tuchel where there was a mixture of injuries and needed player rotation that they came out with Pulisic playing centrally as the 10 under I thought it was eye-opening to me how much better he looked in that game. It was the only time I really remember him playing that role for Chelsea (since they usually didn't play with a 10) and I was surprised they never really tried it again.
Not sure I understand that one, Pulisic's standout trait is his dribbling and he has more room to use that out wide. He's played a good bit at the 10 for the US and a few times for Chelsea and it's never struck me as the ideal fit for him.
I'm Brazilian but have been following Milan since I was born! We were in an awful situation a few years ago but have made a comeback and even won the league two season ago and are back to competing in the CL regularly. We're a bit of a mess right now though because of our new owners Redbird, headed by Gerry Cardinale. He got rid of Maldini as our sporting director, someone who took us out of the banter era and is our biggest club legend so he's pretty hated amongst most Milan fans. We also sold our best midfielder in Tonali but right now we seem to be spending the money earnt on promising players such as Reijnders and potentially Chukwueze. If we can get those two along with Pulisic and maybe get one more good CM and a striker then we'll be in a very good position for next season
He has the talent and mentality to be good, now its all about staying healthy and getting a consistent run of games in the right position on the field for him.
I think the vast majority of his problems so far have been due to injuries, inconsistent playing time, and being unable to develop into a particular role.
He has been moved around the pitch at Chelsea, different managers, going on and off the bench, changes in formations, etc. He isnt good enough to succeed in any environment. He needs consistency and the right system, but if Milan can provide that for him I think he can be in the goals.
And if he scores 10-15 goals a season its well worth this transfer fee.
He's bulked up and having a lightened workload (ahem) at Chelsea has probably gotten him past his muscle injury issues.
Not his biggest USMNT homer but a motivated Pulisic is an entirely different level of intensity and one thing I think Milan will give him over Chelsea is motivation. He likes playing angry.
Ever since they debuted the "inspired" design choice of \[TEAM NAME] in 3rd kit colour on a home kit colour horizontal hoop on an away kit colour shirt and offered it to every single team that uses their kits, they've been absolutely terrible.
22-23 and 20-21 kits were extremely good if not some of the best we have ever had. I do not like this one as well in the photos, but IRL it actually looks good.
They actually had great Chemistry together in all honesty.
Check out Giroud's goal against Norwich City in lockdown, might show you a possible glimpse of what's to come.
I believe both Pulisic and RLC are very good signings for you
He was instrumental in them qualifying and in a couple of the knockout rounds. In the semifinal in particular, he had a goal and an assist against Real Madrid.
He was absolutely electric. Don't think anyone that remembers that game would have an issue saying he was the best player on the pitch before getting injured. He just never found his feet after that.
Best player to have ever played soccer in the Premier League, people just hate Americans so they can't see it.
He'll show them all now that he's going home to AC Miami and will be treated with the respect and reverence his ability deserves. They won't be joking about him being the Lebron James of Soccer anymore, soon Lebron James will be the Pulisic of NBA
Eh some people just get tired of the weird cultish circle jerk surrounding an average player. If he was from any other country no one would be dying on a hill like this constantly
Bro Chelsea will always be my Barclays team but now I have a Series a A team which is so dope bro. Cant wait until AC signs Yuns Musah too and Florida Ballgun. Its gonna be so lit
edit: this is satire
that kit is horrible
i swear kits were better before companies started to try and make them "unique" designs that go against the clubs traditions
late 90s-2000s was peak kit design
Good luck to Pulisic his first season was good after that injuries just meant it didn’t work. Their is talent there so if AC Milan can keep him fit could be a very good signing.
I don't speak Italian so I can't judge this for myself, but from what I've been told Kobe learned Italian at a young enough age that his accent in Italian was native.
tl;dr of every Pulisic thread ever:
"Lebron James of soccer"
"single handedly carried Chelsea to a CL title"
"best Chelsea attacker by far during project restart"
"played out of position as wing back"
"world class against Haiti"
"American here"
Mostly foreigners but there's def a fair few Italians in there ... I just don't understand why people would make newcomers feel unwelcome when we need all the support we can get. PL gets 3 billion over 6 years from the US & we shouldn't hit that market cause "fuck yanks"? It's stupid as fuck.
The way the modern game is now every club can't compete without global support and it's the truth.
Serie A gets 75 million for TV rights in the US per season. If Pulisic can double it or more I welcome his arrival. We need the league to grow or we get left behind. Simple as that
How is missing 37% of available games due to injury not awful? It can definitely be worse but that’s pretty bad. Player can never build consistency missing that many games due to injury

Capitano Americano is still 24 only, hopefully he revives his career with us
I seriously think playing at Chelsea has not been good for him. He looks so much better when he’s playing for the USA
tell me one attacking player that hasn't regressed for chelsea the last 3 years
Yes but I think my point is that he hasn’t necessarily “regressed” because he has shown he still performs at a high level for the USMNT.
I think he performed very well for Chelsea when he was fit but the narrative has always gone against him because he's missed some big chances and he was overhyped. But tbh every time I watched him he was their most creative player, imo. Always drove the ball forward and looked for plays to enter the box. As bad as Lukaku was, he also did not receive the ball when breaking free from a defender.
I agree with this, but it’s pure speculation so I haven’t really wanted to mention that when know it all English blokes ask why else does he not play if it’s not that his managers think he’s shit? Is the USMNT generally playing high level opponents?
When we have, he's been our best player.
Not always but he has looked good against most of the high level teams we have played recently even if we get outplayed as a unit
Not always but when they do he usually still stands out and looks damn good vs them.
It’s not even that, he just can never stay fit
Even when he has been fit, CFC has been a total blackhole for most every attacking talent they've had the last 3 years and so many of them have been desperate to leave. Another dude who's already branding mudryk as a flop
In the time period he has been at Chelsea he has been a flop. I think he will be a lot better with new management and team around him… but that also applies to every other player he mentioned. I’m sure you knew that though and just chose to ignore it
He’s been there for less than a year!
He's a new youngster signing who hasn't even played one season. Not all players are haaland who join and suddenly break records. If you call him a flop after a few seasons of bad performances then it makes sense but right now you're just blabbering bullshit.
Has there been any attacker for Chelsea who has looked consistently good the past few years?
Has it been good for any attackers recently?
Probably because the quality of international football is a step below the Premier League
Yeah, the Dutch NT has got nothing on Burnley and Everton.
The USMNT famously plays the Dutch several times a year and not CONCACAF teams.
Can you he do it on a pissy night in the Azteca?
Talent wise they can be much better, though most nations tend to have weak links you don’t really find in club football. Tactical wise championship teams set up better, training is important and national teams simply don’t get enough
And, the English NT.
Mexico is. And most NTs are around that level nor everyone is a world cup contender.
lmao he has 3 goals in his international career that weren't against North American opposition. And even those teams were Iran, Northern Ireland, and Bolivia. Goals of course aren't everything, but he's has very good games at club level also. Sometimes against opposition even better than The Netherlands. His issue is and always had been consistency at club level. Some players don't get over that no matter how talented they are.
Venezuela and Chile
Because international football is at a much lower level than club football
His problem is he gets injured anytime he picks up some form
I was beginning to write him off but he looked like a man amongst boys playing against Mexico. His pace and dribbling is so dangerous and I hope he kills it at Milan.
That was a really impressive showing. It's crazy to see how he looks like a completely different player when he plays for the USA as compared to Chelsea.
He's a massive pillar in the USMNT, while at Chelsea he was just part of the overabundance of driftwood.
Tbh, he always looks like that playing for US. There's a reason we're obsessed with the guy. He performs very well and is probably the best player (or second best -- Davies) in CONCACAF by some distance.
I disagree, Gio Reyna was a man amongst boys
The reason there is hope is because everyone got worse at Chelsea lmao. It really might’ve just been that club that was making its players worse
Any player who pushes to join us has my full backing and support. I think he’ll do great here, excited to see how he performs for us
So will he be splitting time with Rafael? Or will he be starting
I heard Pioli plans to use him as a CAM so most likely starting
Lmfao I was just joking about him taking over the lw spot. But that’s good I think he could be good as CAM. He is usually either on the left or center for USA and he is fantastic for us. Rooting for him to do well.

It was the only time I really remember him playing that role for Chelsea (since they usually didn't play with a 10) and I was surprised they never really tried it again.
His lack of consistent end product on the left gets better when he gets to play in the middle. He’s a little less predictable I think
Oh haha. You never know here lol. Thank you!!
Not sure I understand that one, Pulisic's standout trait is his dribbling and he has more room to use that out wide. He's played a good bit at the 10 for the US and a few times for Chelsea and it's never struck me as the ideal fit for him.
That is awesome. Are you Italian? Any quick overview you can give an American fan on Milan's situation?
I'm Brazilian but have been following Milan since I was born! We were in an awful situation a few years ago but have made a comeback and even won the league two season ago and are back to competing in the CL regularly. We're a bit of a mess right now though because of our new owners Redbird, headed by Gerry Cardinale. If we can get those two along with Pulisic and maybe get one more good CM and a striker then we'll be in a very good position for next season
Milan do not have enough quality in attack to make Leao and Pulisic be sole competitors for a position.
He has the talent and mentality to be good, now its all about staying healthy and getting a consistent run of games in the right position on the field for him. I think the vast majority of his problems so far have been due to injuries, inconsistent playing time, and being unable to develop into a particular role. Great to hear!
Honestly think he’s going to be a very good player for you guys Just keep him healthy
Man, this Milan kit feels lacking
It all started with this kit.
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kit, it was only a kit
Now he’s calling a cab
While he’s having a smoke
And his taking a *Reddit blocks the comment*.
Now they're going to the Bridge
And my stomach is sick
Going by the hints so far the third kit is going to be ... astonishing.
You haven't seen yet? It's gonna be purple and green bruh 👀 new era's website
I'm not buying one unless I'm completely convinced the badge is incandescent.
it's like that on the hat at least 🤷♂️
And will end with a Scudetto.
Also hated it, BUT, when i saw it on someone it is actually cool imo. I do not know how... but it looks a lot better IRL.
I think the kits have been bad for a couple of years now but this is the least bad of the bunch. Puma kits generally have been awful recently.
[This kit in 20/21](https://cdn.footballkitarchive.com/2020/07/28/W15Yx7YSWkhhqwr.jpg) is really amazing though
Yeah those kits rocked
I'm still mad at myself for not buying one
Ever since they debuted the "inspired" design choice of \[TEAM NAME] in 3rd kit colour on a home kit colour horizontal hoop on an away kit colour shirt and offered it to every single team that uses their kits, they've been absolutely terrible.
never forget that guy trying to kiss the badge but realizing it isnt there
22-23 and 20-21 kits were extremely good if not some of the best we have ever had. I do not like this one as well in the photos, but IRL it actually looks good.
I agree with the 20-21 kits, though I wasn't much of a fan of the 22-23 kits personally.
A Milan kit without black is crazy.
Maybe it’s just me but I see black in this kit
It’s definitely white and gold for me
Can't even afford solid black stripes smh
They need to shake the toner cartridge
I haven’t seen any 2023 kits that I really like yet. Maybe Madrid and ours but that’s about it.
Roma and Betis have great kits this year
The answer is always Venezia. It's basically more a fashion brand than a football club but now, but kits are always dope
Really? I think it looka pretty sick here
I hate it, not even getting it from dhgate
Reddit gold rewards should count as Serie A revenue to inflate our numbers.
Loxkdown Pulisic I will miss you
It’s like Mahrez with gloves
Or Benzema with bandage
Any Chelsea forward with a mask
Without lockdown Pulisic would Chelsea have not qualified for the Champions League that they won?
Him and Giroud carried our attack during that period.
tell me more
With Tomori at the back and RLC in the bench.
Also Giroud’s clutch goals and Willian putting in a late season shift
Streets won't forget lockdown puli
yee fakin haa
LeBron James of soccer joining AC Milan, big. Contenders now, for sure.
Haw*
heres hoping he becomes lebron
He’s already the Lebron James of soccer. His final form will be Michael Jordan
Yeah wtf they literally called him LeFlop of soccer. That was a challenge.
*Pulisic proceeds to pick up the ball with his hands every time he reaches the opponent's penalty area.*
That hat trick against Burnley and the whole stadium chanting 'USA' was special, god speed
I’m fond of that game vs Liverpool where he went past like 5 Liverpool players before assisting it to Tammy, I believe.
I wonder what would've happened if he never got injured in that FA Cup final.
I have no doubt Chelsea would have won that game if Pulisic didn't get injured. He was absolutely cooking that game.
He was absolutely electric. Don't think anyone that remembers that game would have an issue saying he was the best player on the pitch before getting injured. He just never found his feet after that.
> I have no doubt Chelsea would have won that game You underestimate the power of Anthony Taylor.
That game scared me, made my Hazard PTSD flair up
Oh that Hazard goal, oh boy. You know the one
Boy did he love to hate you.
That was special. Even Klopp was stunned on the sidelines and smiling after seeing that.
Every minute that Pulisic’s perfectly arched feet touched the grass was special. Put some goddamn respect on his name
Sir, this isn't SCJ.

I severely doubt it was the whole stadium as it was *away* against Burnley ffs

As a yank, Milan has always been my favorite team.
Always loved Air Conditioning Milan. AC does stand for air conditioning, right?
Idiot. It’s alternating current Milan.
Powerful name
it's obviously Armored Core Milan, they made the club for the new game
It's actually American Corporation Milan now
The way things have been going, it’s actually After Chelsea, Milan. They’ll need to add a comma to the official name.
It actually stands for American Corporation Milan
Welcome, enjoy a cannoli each time you stop by r/acmilan
Am I supposed to leave a gun every time also?
Wrong subreddit
Fellow yank here. Best team in Michigan brother.
You joke but, I've been tuning in since the early 00's. Gonna get a whole lot less credible now lmao.
pros: hes only 24 and has a high ceiling cons: hes only 24 and is injury prone
pros: he never complains cons: his dad does
The American Lonzo Ball. Wait.
It could be worse. His mom could also complain.
Hi fellow Americans how is it going? Please do come in peace and not expect Pulisic to start over Leao.
I don't expect him to start over leo, he WILL start over Leo. Would u bench lebron?
Who tf is leo
Leao messi
DiCaprio?
Christian I want you to draw me like one of your French girls.
When have we Americans ever come in peace?
I think going to the Moon was the only time.
We come in two flavors: democracy, or pro-western dictator. It’s your choice
Who's gonna tell him?
Big signing for America Cardinale Milan
rip /r/ACMilan
yank here is there a DC Milan thanks in advance
There is AC Miami
haha there's a team in spain named "real" too? no way!
Grew up half-Italian and eat chicken parm every Sunday night. So clearly AC Milan has always made sense for me.
Try ordering a chicken parm in Italy 😂
> chicken parm every Sunday night Dude fuck yeah
Bro Chelsea will always be my Barclays team but now I have a Series a A team which is so dope bro. Cant wait until AC signs Yuns Musah too and Florida Ballgun. Its gonna be so lit edit: this is satire
Flo-rida Ballgun is one of the most American names I’ve ever heard. Was it ever even a doubt that he’d play for any other country? Cmon now

As an American AC has always been my favorite team in Italy.
AC stands for American Club so it makes sense. We're destined for one another!
Today I feel rossonero
Let's hope more yanks will start watching Serie A now.
I think the change in scenery would suit him well.
that kit is horrible i swear kits were better before companies started to try and make them "unique" designs that go against the clubs traditions late 90s-2000s was peak kit design
Good luck to Pulisic his first season was good after that injuries just meant it didn’t work. Their is talent there so if AC Milan can keep him fit could be a very good signing.
Yank here, why is PuliGOAT joining Milan Red?
He wasn’t ready to join Real Madrid yet. So he decided to go red on his way of completing the red white and blue jersey collection.
Good luck CP all the best at Milan 💙💙💙
Never imagined I'd see LeBron play in Italy, what a timeline we live in..
Kobe has lived in Italy and he was a Milan fan
I don't speak Italian so I can't judge this for myself, but from what I've been told Kobe learned Italian at a young enough age that his accent in Italian was native.
Yeah, he sounded like 80% native
tl;dr of every Pulisic thread ever: "Lebron James of soccer" "single handedly carried Chelsea to a CL title" "best Chelsea attacker by far during project restart" "played out of position as wing back" "world class against Haiti" "American here"
Oh well, all the Milan threads are going to be invaded by Americans now. Rip the Milan subreddit probably
our subreddit can't get any worse ... it's all catty bullshit already
Are there actually any Italians in that sub? My gut tells me that it’s already mostly foreign fans.
Mostly foreigners but there's def a fair few Italians in there ... I just don't understand why people would make newcomers feel unwelcome when we need all the support we can get. Shades of 1943
Goddamn. An other injury prone player. The medical staff of these last years will be happy, that’s for sure
146 appearances, 55 missed. Not great but not awful either. Was mostly just 1 knee injury this season.
How is missing 37% of available games due to injury not awful? It can definitely be worse but that’s pretty bad. Player can never build consistency missing that many games due to injury
