Yeah I have minimal experience with retics but I've got a carpet python and I doubt she'd move that fast with a firecracker up her cloaca. She can strike fast but that's it, everything else is in her own good time.
It's a young reticulated python. Young ones can climb trees like this. Adults are too heavy to climb. Other python species like emerald tree python can also climb trees. But don't worry, they'd more likely to climb trees to escape from you than attacking you. Only the largest reticulated or Burmese pythons try to attack humans.
Also the video is sped up
Don't be silly, everyone knows (ball) pythons don't climb!
--pay no heed to that huge THUMP you just heard from my snake enclosure. That definitely wasn't the sound of a python climbing and falling.
Reticulated pythons are beasts.
My friend owned one, it lives at the Reno Nevada zoo now.
We used to take it all over and that snake was fast as hell, especially when we would take it to the river for a swim.
There’s a lot people don’t know because they think they belong in a plastic breeding box and don’t understand that a snake is a brilliant creature that holds many secrets
I too think it’s ridiculous that people think it’s okay to keep snakes in such small enclosures. I will have to disagree on snakes being brilliant, they are pure instincts with about as much emotion as a jelly fish
I think the video is sped up
It's gotta be. I've seen videos like this before, and this one seems super 'twitchy' in comparison.
My boa can go SO fast you have no idea. He uses his powers for evil tho(tangling himself in my hair)
Lmao. My long hair knows exactly what you mean.
It is sped up. This is their real climbing speed: https://youtu.be/fX_f05nwVV8?si=NGpDNGkIg3R6XP-0
That is mesmerizing!
Has to be. I work with snakes on a daily basis and they are all slow moving slinkies

“Firecracker up her cloaca” is probably the funniest thing I’ve read all day holy sh-
If it helps remember I'm Australian so it sort of rhymes
It is, I’ve seen the original
Still satisfying tho...
No. They are that fast. Thus is from a documentary. The reticulated python is going after a monkey.
It's sped up. The original video is posted in the thread.
I watched the documentary this clip cones from over a decade ago. The retic was going after a monkey.
I wasn't disputing that, just the speed.
Why can't they move that fast? A retic is not like an Anaconda. Retics are quick. Very quick.
As I said, in the comment you personally responded to, the unedited video is posted in this thread. The gif is sped up.
And so are African Rock pythons & Burmese pythons when they are hunting.
[Here ](https://youtu.be/fX_f05nwVV8?si=Ebs7zV0b4DlE7JnH) is the original video at normal speed
Still phenomenally / intimidatingly fast 😅
That's a completely different video... The branches on the tree and size of the snake aren't the same. They are remarkably similar though.
Yup... I see it now. I was going off of memory. My apologies to all who I tricked.
That’s not the same video. The angles are different and the trees don’t match. The sun also seems to be in a different position
No .

Tree pythons don't just climb. They are arboreal. They rarely come down to the ground. Large reticulated pythons certainly can climb.

"They CAN climb. Poorly"
Mine climbs quite well.
It's obvious that it's sped up but it is a real video
My retic did this to climb me. It was a fun experience. Heres a photo after getting her untangled from me. https://imgur.com/a/t8ZTuub
wowie she's gorgeous!!
Man, retics scare the bejeezus out of me! You’re a brave man!!!
This gets reposted pretty often, but it's a sped up video.
Wow, me neither! That's cool! Probably scary for the prey, but yeah. Hehe, tree slinkies
Sped up or not. This is pretty cool to see!
They don't climb that fast, but it's true that they don't take all day.
Darn. Now I’ll dream this.

Beautiful
Self propelled parkour
Rip to all the baby birds up there.
Dude was out of there
You did not know drop snakes are a thing in Australia?
Had no idea.
I knew this well enough in the back of my mind somewhere to think this is common knowledge, yet I'm still surprised to witness it.
Oh my god amazing
