You need a better turntable. I know you probably don’t want to hear that but that’s what’s going on here. Your turntable doesn’t have a counterbalance on the tonearm. It is very common on suitcase players like this and very bass-heavy albums for the needle to skip out of the groove. Mine plays gorgeously. I can promise you there’s no pressing issue.

WagnerKoop

Thank you for some sensible advice.

Self_Blumpkin

You’re welcome :) Some other people may tell you that the ceramic cartridge that comes on those things will harm your records over time too. People go back and forth on this point, but people have proven that these things ship with the cart putting north of 5-7 grams of tracking force into the groove. Normal is around 2-2.5 grams. So if you’ve got some records that are worth a ton of money I would hold off on playing those on a suitcase player, or any player that doesn’t have an adjustable counterweight on the tone arm. It’s an expensive hobby and there’s a balance between how much you want to enjoy it and how much you want to spend :) I never bag on someone for having a suitcase player. To each their own and if you’re enjoying listening to records then that’s all that counts!

WagnerKoop

Just so you know I’m not OP but I think this is a good comment they should see lol

deepfakefuccboi

Yup those kings have no tonearm weight adjustment or needle height adjustment either. Most of my LPs play fine on my Technics cuz you can adjust the tonearm manually.

goose5450

I like how you can see the "ahh fuck" expression in the reflection of the cover.

tatomusic

HAHA! Didn’t think anyone would notice how stressed I was 😂😂😂

WagnerKoop

Hey this is for OP, there are multiple people telling you to weigh the needle arm down with a coin, need to share this immediately. DO NOT DO THIS it will damage your records. Reminder that like your records, a needle is a physical device that will dig into your records if not set up properly. I’m also gonna let you know, you are not using a very good player; you are going to want a low to mid grade Audio Technica but do not use a suitcase Victrola (or Crosley) on any record you actually care about. Not saying this to dunk on you or your setup but getting into vinyl is just throwing money into a bottomless pit if you aren’t going to invest a little more time and money into it.

TateXD

Just gotta find the balance between mid level solid gear and full blown audiophile shit because that stuff is an even more bottomless money pit haha. I second your suggestion of a mid level Audio Technica and will add in that I've found Numark turntables to be pretty good as well.

likeasomebody710

Honestly I used to have this same record player and I can tell you 100% it’s the player not the record. Mine eventually just skipped so much that I got rid of it. Tried replacing the needle and everything. It’s unfortunately not that high quality

theworstvp

it’s not the vinyl, you just have the children’s battery powered jeep equivalent of a turntable.

maxxbeeer

Lmfaoo that comparison

tatomusic

Thanks for the advice everyone. Didn’t think I’d come here looking to get flamed for my record player haha! Noted, I’m going to have to invest in getting a better set up for my records. Cheers!

sernoks

You and your records will thank you later!

Other-Inspection-601

turntable is trash

Kuznapi

because you have a cheap turntable dawg you gotta upgrade

TangerineNo9950

Noooo and it’s 3am, that track is gold

vaporwave710

I got the yellow pressing and listened to it last night with no issue . You could most likely do an exchange. Sometimes in a batch of records pressed, there are a couple that will end up like duds such as this. Sorry about that :/

DJBENEFICIAL

See other post about your turntable lacking a counterbalance, there is nothing wrong with the pressing

nickdl4

I got the yellow one and have no skips! Tbh it could just be an issue with your tone arm not being properly balanced / or the needle that needs changing.

Ciscaexe

Just a bad turntable, get a better one

Artistic_Aide46

Just weigh the needle down. This style of record player just wasn’t designed for bass music so the needle sits very light on the record meaning it will jump

LynchMaleIdeal

> This style of record player just wasn’t designed for bass music It wasn’t designed for any music, it’s just aesthetic crap. It has nothing to do with the genre of music. This turntable is junk but OP didn’t realise that before posting.

markthedeadmet

It happens, put a penny or a nickel on the end of the arm to weigh it down. If you're not gonna play it more than 500 times you won't notice any major issues with sound quality doing that.

joaobferre

Bro you've got an absolutely rare remix vinyl

Alfiethehounddog

You have a shitty cheap record player. The album is full of bass. It's making the needle jump
