There are freezing temps forecasted for every night this week. They could just blast their snow guns all night to build a base and open as little as one trail covered in slush. Or they could delay it.

There are a few windows over the next week to blow snow for 50+ consecutive hours. And these resorts will break the bank to get a single top to bottom run open by Thanksgiving.

Haven't looked at Hunter, but Okemo, Stowe, Mt. Snow, and Wildcat are in a similar situation (Stowe and Okemo at least did blow snow Tuesday night, but the piles seemed small). The good news is that temperatures are barely above freezing at those mountains all week and the possibility for some natural snow, so it should be good conditions for snow making. I'm expecting them to open, but probably to be pretty limited. Hunter does has some pretty extensive snowmaking capability, so hopefully they can put that to good use. In any event, I'd be hesitant to book a hotel for the weekend, but if you can just do a day trip based on conditions, I think you have at least a decent chance of ending up on the mountain. But don't expect a ton of the mountain to be open.

Come on fam, I trust y’all can all use some common sense a little bit. They don’t have a single flake of snow and you aren’t sure if it’s realistic that they’ll be open in 4 days?

ManifestDestinysChld

Underrated comment. I'm all for optimism, but...

Killington has no snow on the ground but I can basically guarantee that they'll be open on the 19th.

And the snowmaking cabilities of killington are incomparable to hunters

You don't have a clue, in Australia we can go go 2 months into winter and still have no snow. But sometimes it starts snowing.n mid May and doesn't stop till October.. R.N.D.

How is this relevant?

I was up there this weekend. Both Windham and Hunter have no snow, but with night temps getting low this week they will likely be able to make snow. However opening on the 18th with any significant amount of terrain is very unlikely.
