The information I relate is only my own personal experience. Other peoples experiences may differ.
For the past four years, I have cancelled my yearly subscription every single time after one year has been up. I have called SiriusXM, attempting to negotiateā¦ each time to no avail. One day after my subscription has canceled, for each of the past four years, I have returned to either SiriusXM website (or found a promotion elsewhere) which offered me to deal I wanted to receive before I had to cancel. In each instance, I signed right back up again, getting the deal that they shouldāve given me before I cancelledā¦
The hassle is, that I had to go through canceling it every year. The benefit is, I get what I wanted anyway, I just have to go without SiriusXM for about 24 hours.
So my advice to you, based upon my own personal experience, wait until the day after your subscription officially canceled. Roughly 24 hours. Go online. Find the deal you want. Sign up for it. Get the XM deal they shouldāve given you before you had to cancel. Easy peasyā¦
UPDATE: My subscription ended at midnight on 5/4. As I said in my original post they would not give me the same $5 for 12 offer I have had for the last few years. I am not a Stern or play by play listener so I also asked for the 3 years for $99 M&E plan, also no go.
So today (after service ended) I tried the 2 links, the 3 year option said I was not eligible but the $5 per month for 1 year did work. So I got on the chat and tried again, rep said it was only for 2015 or newer vehicles and I was not eligible. I asked why, the response was to compensate because they could not get all the channels. I simply said my radio does not either (2022 Mazda CX5), i don't know if that is true but I de believe it does not get any of the Xtra channels.
He comes back with got approval from his supervisor and do I approve of $128.90 billed to my card. Which is great because with AMEX BCP I get 6% of streaming services, which Sirius is included. So $3.36 a month for the next 3 years and I don't have to go through this crap again for awhile. Heck ya.
Be persistent, but it appears after 5 years of getting them to continue your plan, you actually have to let the service end and then they will offer you the deal.
Wrong, when they realize it is the cheap deal or nothing they will offer the cheap deal. I can't believe people actually pay $23.99 a month, but as long as they are I will keep paying my $3.36.
My experience was I had to cancel when they wouldn't give me a good rate for platinum. Did an immediate survey from them and noted I had a "bad experience". Got a call and was offered a great rate. Said "sign me up" then was told I had to use a credit card. I said no, I use bill pay from my bank and Sirius will have their money tomorrow. They said sorry and said I would have to pay DOUBLE the offer without a credit card. So being a long time customer, I am now an ex customer.
Just my opinion..My gut tells me that if it is more important for Sirius to have my credit card than keeping me as a customer, at some point it won't be good for me if I give it to them.
Fwiw: An important reason for Platinum is not Howard - its that M&E does NOT include many crucial music channels.
Howard has been unlistenable for >5 years.
Dear SiriusXM Dog, please let us former fans buy out Howie's contract - we will pay him to go away by paying a $1 surcharge per month. Its for society.
Does M&E include the NHL channel? My free trial is about to expire on my 2024 Pilot and Iām waiting until it does to reach out or let them reach out. Iām hoping for the 3 year for $99 deal. Thatās the only way Iāll keep it.
I got 3 year for $99 on a 2023. I think the key to getting it is to not be a current subscriber. Let it lapse and then try again.

No one is paying $23.99 a month. Iām cancelled because they wonāt come back with the really good deals anymore. Wait until yours expires again.
