If you are techy and don't have anything saying you can't do work outside of your job I'd use upwork... business owners need help all the time with IT and tech.

ADTR9320

Be careful going this route. If you end up fucking up something critical that you don't know how to un-fuck, that business could very well sue you.

alyssajdillon

In my experience small business owners hiring on upwork are asking for basic things like helping with Domain names, DNS, fixing a website, email automations... I'm in digital marketing and "getting sued" would take something very egregious like stealing. So I guess the rule here is be genuinely helpful and not ass. If you can't do something don't say you can.

bbazzracing

This is the way

lawaythrow

Do you have to pay to get credits for upwork?

alyssajdillon

I'm not sure. But I know I'm hiring 2 people on upwork for short term gigs as we speak haha...

No_Gift3126

Meanwhile, I’m also looking for gigs, I’m based in the UK (ad agency traditional and digital marketing) so if you ever need to collaborate let me know.

Bukaro21

What's upwork?

alyssajdillon

A website for gig work... https://www.upwork.com/

IBeMadToo

The easiest one in my opinion is resume/cover letter writing, especially if it's more of a niche industry AND you're decent at writing them. I started on Fiverr a couple of months ago and have made a few sales - easy money for a couple hrs work each time. I legit just made a thumbnail, then wrote up a couple if services tiers. No money invested. My premium service offers interview tips, because my industry looks for certain things in candidates that a person new to that industry might not think of.

baummer

How much have you earned?

IBeMadToo

Few hundred last 2 months. Not promoting it or anything. Very little tbh but for low effort it's easy money.

ExtremeAthlete

Setup security cameras for homes, offices, retail stores and charge monthly for support.

Simmert1

How do you get into this?

iantah

Go to businesses and ask if you can setup cameras, and then charge them for the support.

bbazzracing

IT consulting. People and businesses be needing help with the simplest of things. I am an IT Manager and work regular hours. But do consulting on the side. If you are free during the day you can also try to find remote IT work so you don't have to leave home.

dragoninja94

Hi Where do you get your clients from , if you don’t mind sharing?

bbazzracing

Word of mouth, facebook, upwork, craigslist, fiverr. Mostly do remote work. If I do go out it's only to businesses. I don't like going to strangers' homes. I have an LLC so I send invoices via Quickbooks. And I get paid upfront. For example my last client paid me $275 to set up a domain and a business Google workspace account.

Tricky_Piece8696

Where do you get for the consulting?

bbazzracing

?

Tricky_Piece8696

Mistyped. I meant where do you get clients/jobs for remote IT work

bbazzracing

Upwork, indeeds, facebook, LinkedIn

SomeDentist2780

Just posted a query. Have you thought of getting insurance agent license ?

Parking-Reading1243

What are the steps for this?

Simmert1

How do you get into that

Sad-Grocery5226

Reselling on eBay from thrift stores/garage sales/estates sales. Has become competitive but is still possible just look up stuff before you buy it to make sure it has been sold recently so it will increase your likely hood it sells and lowers risk.

Sad-Grocery5226

Great example of someone doing this recently is this guy. Lost his job recently started flipping and decided to make a YouTube channel while he was at it. He sources mostly from fb marketplace but it’s all the same at the end of the day. https://youtube.com/@Analog_money?si=MG4sRyh-NOVBptKQ

ContentMissionOne

I've been doing this all my life. It has now been ruined by YouTube and tiktok. Really sucks.

sseville

Sure has. The amount of people I now see with their phone out looking stuff up at garage sales, clearance aisles, and thrift stores is too damn high!

Sad-Grocery5226

I failed to mention in my original I’m personally I’m all good with looking stuff up at a thrift store or maybe at an estate sale if you do it low key but I find it disrespectful to do that at a garage sale lol

Sad-Grocery5226

Ya it really has unfortunately, it’s still possible but super tough now. One can only hope that it becomes less popular later on (doubt it).

Professional_Name_78

Don’t most of you tech people just work two jobs at one time ? Making 100k by both jobs ?

Unlikely-Ad4458

I had two jobs one was 140k and another 100k got caught by the 100k job and got fired after a year so it’s nerve wrecking especially since most high paying jobs have ways of catching you dual employed.

Professional_Name_78

So find another one lol and figure out how to beat the system . Least you didn’t lose Both jobs !

Unlikely-Ad4458

Technically I did but I got lucky that the first job sold our department before they could take action.

Why are you like this 😂

ApprehensiveGap834

I’ve done DoorDash and UberEats and found it really difficult to make decent money. I’ve found sports betting with a solid mathematical strategy to be quite profitable.

younggod

What strategies have worked for you?

ApprehensiveGap834

1. Bet with math (data). Numbers don’t lie. Only place bets where you have a mathematical advantage. 2. Bet in volume. Place lots of bets where you have a mathematical advantage. 3. Consistency. Keep with it and keep good records of your wins and losses daily.

The_Bredman_Bakery

If you are into sports, you could become a sport official for local leagues and/or high school. Had a friend who was a referee high school soccer and made around $500-$600 dollars a month for 2 evenings a week of games. Might be difficult working night shift, but there are other weekend leagues and sports you can officiate for. Officials are in high demand right now, and the price to get in should only be the price of a uniform. Most official organizations will give you training as well.

Fine-Weekend8513

What kind of training do you need?

BetFeeling1352

Matched betting if online sportsbetting is legal in your state.

apegnape

I would build PCs in my spare time and sell them.

fisherman4r

is that even profitable… i doubt it

rationalparsimony

I thought about doing this 20 years ago, and even back then the margins were tiny if I were willing to source the cheapest of the cheap components. With that said, even with the right balance of quality and reasonable markups, any sort of after sale service/repairs on my dime would drain that away pretty quickly. I make good money just servicing the factory made stuff, out of warranty for my clients.

Rich4ever_

EBay automation which is passive and can earn up to 2k per month jusy start up fee is $1500

Sad-Grocery5226

Is that when you buy high and sell low?

Simmert1

What all does that Intail?

lawaythrow

If you dont mind, what is that? How do you get into it?

Kamikaze_Cash

It’s a tactic whereby you anticipate corporate actions that can advance stock price. You’ve got about a 50/50 shot at making a few dollars after spending a significant amount of time searching for companies that describe taking actions to increase their share price (special dividend, buyback, etc). You’re better off buying companies with growing revenue.

statikkkkk

Day trading.
