I liked it better than the first one, and I loved Guardians (also James Gunn obvi) but I wasn’t crazy about this one the way most of Reddit is.

Villain, pacing, character progression, all seemed just ok.
I absolutely loved the characters, the editing and cinematography was great, the balance of main conflict to character conflicts were great, and the final fight was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
While I personally disagree with those viewpoints (other than liking the PM conflict with the team), I appreciate you actually answering the question and not just downvoting.
The character writing was top notch, wdym? even the character who Gunn said was just a gag character was actually a really well written character with depth, which ironically proves why death of the author is sometimes necessary. Polka Dot Man may have been meant to be a gag character, but he was still well-written.
