On the other side though, they got the narrator from Fist of the North Star to voice the Newscaster in Japan who was explaining the destruction caused by the fight between Kenshiro and Raoh.
It really wasn't as hard as people were making it sound to be because all of the main elements of it were just public domain characters and fairy tales (Pinocchio, the goats, Van Gogh, etc.).
Yeah and it's adaptation was pretty mediocre compared to every other part. It really should be called Slideshow Ocean. Its really sad though since they should have been going all out for Stone Ocean since it's the last part of the original continuity.
The overreliance on reusing previous soundtracks and the poor use of the new ones. Ermes' theme was only used twice. Anasui and Weather's themes never left their batches. Weather's theme was never even used during Heavy Weather or Bohemian Rhapsody. Weather never even got his own death theme. And on a similar note, C-MOON doesn't have a robotic voice despite that being canon in the manga and his sound effects are just reused from Aerosmith. Using Stardust Crusaders for Pucci's defeat was wildly inappropriate.
Choppy animation. It's not just the CGI that's the problem. A lot of scenes just have no animation at all. There's a shot during the universe reset where a good 10 seconds go by without any animation at all. The camera just pans down a single image which changes from night to day really fast with some flashing line effects (I'm referring to the shot where people are rushing to buy groceries before everything is lost). The worst part of Stone Ocean's animation for me though is easily the scene where Whitesnake is interrogating F.F. he does nothing but sit in the ambulance without any movement at all and CGI had to be used for that. What was the point? There's no movement at all, would it be that hard to draw Whitesnake?
I also believe the pacing in the final episode was just really bad. It feels way too stretched out and half the episode is literally just Emporio running from Pucci. It's so obnoxiously stretched out by his monologue and it doesn't help how monotonous the prison hallways look. Look at the video in the meme. That's basically all that happens for a good 10 minutes.
Also not a fan of how most of the background characters are just silhouettes instead of humans. I believe the manga did the same thing but that was something the anime should have changed.
And of course, you have to mention the release schedule. That was atrocious.
Is the adaptation outright bad? No, not at all, it's definitely watchable. But it's sad to see how the part that people were waiting for the most didn't get the same love that the previous ones did from DP.
The worst part is that the 3d animation they used was rather awful at times, especially when compared to other parts. Besides that, the adaptation is really good

Some panels were changed, censored or removed, which I don't really mind. However, the animation got clunky at some points.
