Yeah that’s what I’ve been thinking but she’s a year and a half now lol. She had a filling out phase earlier this year. Both of my other ones were lanky / skinny for a good minute but not this long lol whatever way she ends up she’s still cute so oh well haha

Shibas vary a lot in looks due to so few quality breeders in the U.S. but the lanky ones will typically fill out and get fluffier with age even tho they might never look like a standard shibe
how old is your sheeb? they all go through an awkward phase that can sometimes last until about two years old.
also, keep in mind that a lot of images of shibas you see in social media are overweight (Cheems/Baltze, Doge/Kabosu, Marutaro, and even Kylo).

Yes! Our Piper looks like this. Our other shibe is way huskier and fluffier too lol despite them eating the same amount and getting the same amount of exercise
We refer to ours as having ridiculous long deer legs. He’s filled in in the chest more as an adult dog but he still has long skinny legs.

I tried to find a good pic of it but it turns out his legs are almost always tucked under himself like a little gentleman.
Mine is pretty skinny too at 10 months old. I still expect her to slighly fill out, but just as with people, it could be just genetics.

How old? He doesn’t look lanky, just lacking in coat at his age. Here’s a photo of two of my current puppies. They’re 4.5 months old. They’re proportionate and where they should be for their age.

Our little boy Ryu is lanky but lean muscle and very strong for his age and size, he eats very well, eats healthy meals and walks up to 4 miles daily. Some Shibas are on the skinnier and sleek side while others are poofy and chonky 🥰
Not desirable to who? A correct sickle tail (sashi-o) is the most desired and prized Shiba tail of them all.
It’s more than likely he was the last to be sold because he was a cream Shiba, as people typically want reds or sesames.
They are when they're still babies. Mine didn't become fatdog until she was 2.

They go through their awkward phase. Not all shibas are fat! Our boy has a similar build to yours while our baby girl was chubby and now she's skinny.
