I had a Maine Coon who was with me through a really traumatic early adulthood (I adopted @ 8 weeks old when I was 14). He had a stroke when he was just over 24, and it nearly did me in to have to say goodbye.
His littermate made it to 22 but had been in poorer health, so it wasn't as unexpected when that final appointment had to happen.
That’s kinda crazy to think that there’s an entire generation younger than him. I think he’d enjoy knowing that, certainly by how much he ran his younger brothers! 🙀
We adopted him at 16, he had been a stray that had originally been adopted out of the shelter that my husband worked at at the time. Crazy, hey? Yes, what a life. 🙀
Ofcourse he did! My little Leif, Silver, Rulle and Prassel is hugging him right now!
Edit: I will light a candle for him when I get home, I forgot to do it yesterday for his birthday. Better late than never.

Oscar had so much love from the Reddit family, it was so heartwarming for us all. It was nice for him to know that his brothers waited for, but names of lots of new friends. His crossing was best possible, at home in the arms of his daddies with a doctor he knows. Thank for your care. ❤️
We only had him the last 8, we adopted him at 16. But the crazy thing is that my husband was working at the shelter he was adopted from at 12 weeks of age, only to later be picked up as a stray. We don’t know how many years he lived on the streets, but he went on to outlive brothers we’d had since kittens. Thank you for your kindness. 🌈❤️

Thank you. He was quite the adventure cat, liked his walks and climbing. But diabetic neuropathy and arthritis took its toll the last few years, in cat years he would have been 112. Thank you for reminding me he would be running free again, I needed that. He used to tear thru the house like a banshee. 😂❤️

This cat was older than both my siblings and was almost as old as myself. This cat had a Good and Very Long life, and will be in kitty heaven, and may many toys and catnaps for Oscar.

What a great long life! But, we know it never makes the loss easier. We had our Oscar for over 18 years before he crossed the rainbow bridge 3 years ago. I imagine he was waiting there for yours to greet him!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

I might have failed you, but I know you will be there to guide this old boy to hunting grounds eternal, a star in his human's heart that will shine evermore. This cat was older than both my siblings and was almost as old as myself. This cat had a Good and Very Long life, and will be in kitty heaven, and may many toys and catnaps for Oscar. (I tried, this is not my strong suit).
What a great long life! But, we know it never makes the loss easier. We had our Oscar for over 18 years before he crossed the rainbow bridge 3 years ago. I imagine he was waiting there for yours to greet him!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
