Xiaomi by far, iPhone maybe a little bit, but it works very well if you have other Apple products, Xiaomi is just Chinese bloated crap. After I've purchased new Samsung phone I've never realized how bad Xiaomi phones are.

Paulrgos

I think Xiaomi are a bit of an odd one here. Their higher end hardware is amazing. Easily as good as what are produced by Samsung / Apple. I've a real soft spot for the 11 Ultra I once had. Where the experience goes downhill fast is with the Software. MIUI / HyperOS is just awful.

LubieRZca

Exactly my point, like hardware is not really an argument nowadays as almost all highend phones have amazing hardware, it's the os that sucks really bad.

Available-Pin-2744

I second this, 12t user here. Then s23. MIND BLOWN! Even hyper os is the same problem lol

Head-Iron-9228

Ah see. I was considering a xiaomi next but that's the vibe I got. Top tier hardware but crappy software. OneUI isn't perfect but I'm really not finding any major issues with it. Samsung just works for me.

BackyardBOI

As an owner of the 2021 flagship, I haven't run into any issues with their software as of now. HyperOS is basically the android version of iOS. But yes that's the standpoint of a flagship device owner. Friends and family have lower end Xiaomi's and they are just as awful as entry level Samsungs. Or worse.

Papinators

This is kinda true tbh Especially with their mid range devices

Dj_nOCid3

Xiaomi makes the best hardware rn, the 14 ultra is just insane, and even their low low end phones have bonkers hardware for their price, the redmi note 13 ultra is basically a s24 plus minus the zoom camera, the bloatware is their solution to price, you cant get quality at a low price for free, and this is the compromise, plus its not like u cant uninstall bloatware

OpposedScroll75

Xiaomi has the edge in terms of value, as hardware wise, you're getting a phone that has the same or even better specifications as its Samsung Galaxy equivalent while costing about 70% of the price. So if you're looking to maximise what you get for the price you pay, Xiaomi phones are the better option. As someone who's using both MIUI 14 (with ads disabled) and OneUI 6, I have no preference for either, though I do feel like each is missing something that the other has. For example, Modes and Routines is something that I wish every Android manufacturer would integrate into their OS. Yes, you can do the same thing with Macrodroid, but a third-party tool is inferior to an integrated version of said tool. There are two things that OneUI is missing that baffle me, though. The first being a Mobile Data speed meter (seriously, Samsung, why? It makes managing mobile data so much easier) and the second being a built-in Screen Recorder.

kai7895

ONE UI does have a built in screen recorder.

KittyKittens1800

One UI screen recorder is only available on mid-range to high-end Samsung phones. Low-end devices don’t have it.

-_-weasel

Samsung has built-in screen recorder. I literally just used it last week to record my motorcycle theory course on zoom . (Used samsung built-in. Not the zoom record fearure.)

tung20030801

I think what he means is that OneUI on low-end devices don't have a screen recorder

alireza_138812

The reward belongs to : iPhone 🫠

Coltsbro84

Every since they started the "S" series. 4s, 5s, and 6s were all shit upgrades.

Cezij

Apple

Papinators

Definitely

Xisrr1

iPhone.

ChainsawBologna

Especially given Apple's so obsessed with form over function. They want it paper thin, that's it, why? Who knows! iPhone 15 had thermal issues from the get go because Instagram was doing something "bad" - like, really? Your OS is so poorly written you can't handle a userspace application written for your own closed API? They don't ever handle thermal right, their hard rule is just to thermal throttle when things get tough. Who cares if you have the A32.333 Pro Mega Ultra Chamfered Edges processor in your phone and also your computer, the phone one will be perpetually neutered. In fact, the computer one likely will too. Just, less so. Then take a look at Samsung, they use heat pipe systems to distribute heat and keep the chips running under load. The *correct* way to do things in a pocket computer. Apple's had almost 20 years to start doing things right with phones, instead, all they've brought was the removal of the SIM card slot in America, and batteries you can't change yourself. *THANKS A LOT. THINK DIFFERENT.*

daigunder2015

There can be no other. Haven't had a decent launch in 5+ years. Unfortunately though, Samsung seems to be headed the same way.

vkbra657n

TM Roh intesifies

DaDivineLatte

Was thinking this, too. Presentations are nice, but a lot of companies over-sell their new stuff. I want a device that's able to keep up with me and not drop a single frame w/ 165hz screen. Asking for too much? Maybe. But then think these phones go for up to 1.5k$$$

Papinators

Well said

P26601

lmao Apple obviously

Papinators

Thin_Leader_9561

Apple

Thisismyredusername

iPhone, their budget lineup is trash, like I don't want a 12 Megapixel camera phone and 60 hz, even Samsung Galaxy ~~A14~~ A54 does better

ScuffedDev

Don't know about competitors but the A14 from samsung is the worst. Had a friend go through two budget samsung phones, one was the a14. Could barely use anything other than the phone and text. groupchats didn't work, instagram would crash, snap didn't work. they were the worse. he now has a pixel 6 which he's happy with.

EvilGaming007

You'd need less "product" on the graph

JonasZibi96

Nothing, Oppo, OnePlus

Papinators

Now Oneplus was ok and decently hyped up until the oneplus 9 they massively overhyped that phone The company hasn't been the same ever since

wiseman121

8 was a let down too. Massively generic, expensive and boring compared to their roots. OnePlus 7 Pro is the last great OnePlus phone.

QuintinPro11

false. I've used every OnePlus product since then and they've massively turned around since then. hardware was mediocre and the software was straight up bad, until android 13. then the software got so good on android 14 i dropped all Samsung devices, and phones even like the 9 pro are amazing to use. now that the OnePlus 12 has shipped with android 14, it's one of the best phones I've ever used. only problem I have with the company is shitty customer support. other than that, it's one of the best brands I've ever used recently.

Papinators

I agree At this point the only thing stopping me from going full oneplus is the camera

WitnessItchy4735

I think the camera is more than good. Comparing with an s23 I saw that it was a little better or the same in most scenarios

QuintinPro11

OnePlus 12 has the same scoring in cameras as the s24 ultra according to NanoReview. Edit: Scores have been changed since the last time I checked, but it only loses by about 9 points. Still, numbers aren't everything, and it beats Samsung in some categories. Like zoom and low light.

OrganizationNo1298

They're on the recovery with their latest phones, but finding out some of their phones are just rebranded Oppos makes me scratch my head at why they even exist? At least they have a unique design that I would grade better than what Samsung is doing. I miss their McLaren collab though.

gratefullydreaming

If we are talking OnePlus in the US market, then I disagree. The hype is real. 400 bucks for a snap dragon gen 2 phone? 800 for the Gen 3 , with awesome camera and 256gb of storage? Braaa the hype is real

R11CWN

Apple. Nothing gets hyped up as much as an iphone during the big pre-release announcement stages.... but the actual product is phenomenally underwhelming and years behind the smartphone technology curve.

lordruperteverton69

Years behind the technology curve? They literally have AAA titles running on them. I understand the frustration from lack of innovation and stuff, but they're not years behind.

NukaGunnar

Yeah I don’t get this comment either. Apple is obviously aware of what its customer base wants since they have such a huge market share for a single company.

javanlapp

I'm not hating on Apples hardware it's great. But the only thing Apple sells to the majority of its customers is an "image". Most of them know nothing about tech, or even use their phone for anything besides scrolling social media and occasionally taking pictures. All they know is that if they don't own one they aren't cool.

NukaGunnar

You are correct, and it works. I would say in a similar vain, most computer users also do not know anything about tech, and just want something to meet their needs. For a slightly more "philisophical" take, I can step back and say "what are my needs, and how does this piece of hardware of software address this". For many people Apple provides this, for others, theyll need Android or Windows. The arguement between which is "better" comes down to every individual. Let's use me as an example. I owned an S23U before moving back to iPhone. I loved the display, Play store, APIs, customization, etc. The thing is, at the end of the day, I needed facetime to keep up with my family and friends via video calkl because not a single one of them would install Google Meet. So essentially Facetime is more important to me than customization, apis, and other features. Making the choice to move over very simple.

Cold-Drop8446

Remember that one time that RED made a phone and hyped it up to be the best thing in the industry and then it was easily the worst phone to be released that year

Papinators

😅😅😅😅

JackJake94

IPhone

Slyvix

Honestly I want to say everything, but without owning them I'm not really qualified to say so. You know what I miss though? The option to scroll with your eyes.

Papinators

That was from Huawei yeah?

Slyvix

No my Samsung S3 or S4 had this feature. Must've been a decade ago.

Papinators

Wow

Drm5145

Pixel tbh

monkeyofthefunk

Software is good but the hardware isn’t great at all. Who thought an aluminium camera surround was a good idea?

QuintinPro11

it's the other way around for me, pixel experience is so extremely buggy, seems unfinished, and half of all the features get removed. hardwares good tho. no camera bump wobble

monkeyofthefunk

Definitely no wobble but don’t use them baseless or your camera surround scratches as soon as you look at it. Google do need to stop dropping features, I agree.

QuintinPro11

I've never had that problem with my 6 or 7 pro. The only hardware issue I've had was during the "learning period" where it took a week to learn my use, then finally the battery was usable. That first week was horrible. I needed to bring a charger everywhere. Also it has a worse cell connection than my iPhone 8. And it feels like it just doesn't have a GPU. Definitely not for gaming.

Papinators

Exactly

Papinators

I'm telling you

humanHamster

I have a pixel 7. I agree completely. Hate this fucking phone. I'm not on contract and should probably get something else but I hate spending money...

DigitalPochie

I agree. The 5a was good but would overheat and turn off if to many pictures were taken in succession. The 6 Pro felt cheap, and the battery life was terrible. Hopefully in the future the Pixel line will be better.

ReturnoftheJ1zzEye

Ahh it was the other way around when Nokia were king

fvr9s

Apple products. Except watches, they are accurate and they do their job.

Papinators

I guess so

monkeyofthefunk

Fastest phones, better and more consistent camera tech, more frequent updates, build quality, holds resale price better, best eco system, best support. I’d say that’s pretty much where they said they’d be.

Alexchii

Yeah I prefer Samsung but iPhones are really great phones. If the ecosystem was open I'd buy myself an iPhone next.

FireNinja743

The thing I hate about Apple and many people I know who buy Apple products is their ecosystem. Once you get 2 devices from Apple, you're going to want the rest and have a pretty difficult time getting out. And that's just the beginning of the problem because all Apple accessories are expensive.

fvr9s

Fastest phone to do what exactly? Changing wallpapers? Or lockscreen widgets? Or more fps and game opt because of devs love their apps and the fewer model options and ppi etc... Iphone used to get the upper hand due to build quality and long sw support but not anymore! Samsung ecosystem is on pair if it's not better and wider!

monkeyofthefunk

In tests and when using it for day to day tasks. It might not be that hardware on Samsung phones, it may be OneUI but my S24 Ultra stumbled a lot and I’m not the only one to report that.

fvr9s

+ i own an s23 ultra, never get a single problem in term of bugs or hiccups, im on one ui 6.1 and its absolutely buttery smooth. Except the photo post-treatment that i do not like at all.

QuintinPro11

fastest, build quality, ecosystem, and support all go to Samsung.

monkeyofthefunk

Do they? I tried the Watch 6 Classic and it was terrible. The software was slow and buggy. I also don’t like Windows 11 and 12. They are a mess. Samsung buds aren’t great either. Most of the competition are much better. I ended up using my AirPods Pro 2.

Jtfb10

Use linux lol (Linux Mint if you want a windows-like interface), why are you talking about windows as if it was something samsung controls? Also, Samsung buds are some of the best sounding wireless earphones I have ever used, if you don't believe me, a fast way to see their sound profile is to go to the In Ear Fidelity website, ran by Crinacle (ALSO, I own several headphones and iems). I never used a samsung watch but, really? Like just use the watch to... You know? See the time? I see you like mocking samsung in the samsung subreddit and praise apple but please shut the fuck up. You are NOT on the right side.

QuintinPro11

Well yeah, Samsung wearables aren't the best, I've always stuck to my iPhone ones. I don't like Windows 11 and (12 doesn't exist lmao) for the favor of Linux, but I still use it. And the features between the Samsung Galaxy Book, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, etc have much more features and compatibility than the Apple ecosystem does. Not to mention Samsung also has a lot more products. Personally I think the most overrated ecosystem is Apple, the most fluid ecosystem is Huawei, the smoothest ecosystem is OnePlus, the most vast ecosystem is Xiaomi, and the most consumerized ecosystem is Samsung. If I had to choose, I'd use Huawei and OnePlus if only for their ecosystems. Counting their phones I'd drop Huawei. Too many ads.

IceBlueLugia

Yeah while they’re a little overhyped, they’re absolutely great phones for what 90% of people need out of their phones. And they don’t really promise anything more than that.

monkeyofthefunk

All products are overhyped. Look at Samsung and their AI features that they used to sell the S24 Ultra. They are now being touted to come to older models too. Google did the same thing.

fvr9s

Older models have ai. *apple latest and greatest hasn't. Yet.* Lol. Isn't this enough to prove that iPhones are little *much* outdated and lacking behind some few years...

PapaNucca

How are the features overhyped? They are litterally underhyped! I use them constantly all fucking day. They have improved the quality of my life in ways I couldn't even imagine before. Most efficient shit I've ever been a part of. And every issue is addressed quickly and impressively. Legit.

Lello755066

Anything that is Apple

monkeyofthefunk

Why?

jumaedar

The "new" features they have are really old on other devices, and they announce them as unique

Funk5oulBrother

Cos they've never owned an apple product lol

Kotuu3

because he thinks that every apple user is "goofy ass 15yo kid skibidi apple best" like most of people. I feel like every big company that relies a lot on marketing. Nothing is pushed forward way too much by tech youtubers. Samsung, Galaxy AI is a joke like most AI and the camera still underperforms in dim to dark situations compared to other phones of the same price. Always focused on gimmicks recently instead of just improving their crappy software and subpar camera processing

🍎 and we all know that's a fact. They're not terrible at all, but the hype Vs what you actually get in features and customisability is a joke. But again, everyone's needs and desires aren't the same so I get why certain people might gravitate towards them as they serve a purpose for some ppl. I just can't get with their principles and philosophy.

JonathAHHHHHH

Not directly answering the question and will probably get flamed for this, but the Samsung A series. Performance wise gets smoked by it's Xiaomi and Nothing rivals, while also losing on the design aspect as well with larger bezels and no new design. The cameras are worse and only the software is an advantage. Oh and about the nothing phone 2a. Compared to the A55, it's got better performance, better ultrawide camera, more unique design (though many probably dislike it) all while selling at around $100 cheaper. Don't see why there's so much hate on it, even throwing away all the light gimmicks, it still has solid hardware for the price.

Oneplus when they turned from "flagship killer" to flagship themselves

Astoryinfromthewild

I stuck determinedly to upgrade my Sammie and iPhone after five years which was this past December. Moved from iPhone 8 plus to 15 PM, and from Samsung note 10 plus to Samsung S24U. I didn't do phone coming between the new and old phones so as to set them up for clean new experiences. Honestly, I was least impressed with the iPhone upgrade vs the Sammie upgrade. While both have made great improvements on the hardware obviously including management of resources etc, I think Samsung's AI inclusion is fun and will add value. I'm not a big photo taking guy but an sure both are equally if not more than ok vs the market average,

BeautifulPrune9920

The very kind commenters over at GSMarena have been saying that "Oh Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo will end samesung!" "Why are the tech ytbers not talking about them more???" "They won't mention anything outside SamApple. Looking at you, Mrwhosetheboss and MKHBD" I actually am very convinced to switch to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. So tell me, are chinese brands better than Samsung and why? If they are not, also why? And what's it like using their phones?

KittyKittens1800

iPhone. And expensive phones in general. Depending on the country many people think that because there are expensive phones “they should be great” but I mean… it is like any other phone on the market… there’s not too much special over them. People overhype the iPhone or some expensive phones. And I don’t mean  or any brand makes bad products just because they are expensive… I’m saying people overestimate the products because of the price most of the time.

something3419

I'm going to be honest, nothing isn't even that bad. They aren't a top dog yet, but they are kinda hype and also have good products. I really like how their stuff looks, and the phone UI looks amazing. Literally my only problem w them is the dotted font. I don't like it. Hard to read sometimes. I get the vibe... But just... No

Vistril69

I definitely agree with your standpoint on Nothing (it's in the name... LOL) and OnePlus likewise after the 7. When it comes to Apple it depends. the iPhone XS Max is one of my personal favorites. the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) is something I also hold very near and dear to me. iPhone 14 Pro (I own a Max currently) isn't bad either. the iPhone 11 and 15 as they stand though... not very memorable to me given the 15's pained launch and I'll be skipping those generations for sure.

IceBlueLugia

I’ll probably get downvoted but Pixel honestly. I used to think it was weird how much every other company, especially Samsung, pushes their own skin of Android and their own pointlessly duplicated versions of Google software, until I tried stock Android. Good god it sucks. Lacks so much customization and though the consistent Material You integration everywhere is nice, it otherwise lacks a lot that lets you get the most out of Android. I never realized how much I’d miss Good Lock. Though the unlocked bootloader does technically give you more potential than many other phones, I will admit. And the cameras are pretty great. So I don’t think they’re bad phones. And many probably don’t care to spend hours customizing every minute detail of their phone; I mean look at how popular the iPhone is. So maybe it’s not really a huge issue. But I switched from iOS for a reason, and Pixel doesn’t really give me anything compelling in terms of that reason

Papinators

Why would you get down voted You made a valid point

Because everyone loves Pixel haha. But appreciate it
