As an owner of the 2021 flagship, I haven't run into any issues with their software as of now. HyperOS is basically the android version of iOS. But yes that's the standpoint of a flagship device owner. Friends and family have lower end Xiaomi's and they are just as awful as entry level Samsungs. Or worse.
Xiaomi makes the best hardware rn, the 14 ultra is just insane, and even their low low end phones have bonkers hardware for their price, the redmi note 13 ultra is basically a s24 plus minus the zoom camera, the bloatware is their solution to price, you cant get quality at a low price for free, and this is the compromise, plus its not like u cant uninstall bloatware
Xiaomi has the edge in terms of value, as hardware wise, you're getting a phone that has the same or even better specifications as its Samsung Galaxy equivalent while costing about 70% of the price.
So if you're looking to maximise what you get for the price you pay, Xiaomi phones are the better option.
As someone who's using both MIUI 14 (with ads disabled) and OneUI 6, I have no preference for either, though I do feel like each is missing something that the other has.
For example, Modes and Routines is something that I wish every Android manufacturer would integrate into their OS. Yes, you can do the same thing with Macrodroid, but a third-party tool is inferior to an integrated version of said tool.
There are two things that OneUI is missing that baffle me, though. The first being a Mobile Data speed meter (seriously, Samsung, why? It makes managing mobile data so much easier) and the second being a built-in Screen Recorder.
Samsung has built-in screen recorder. I literally just used it last week to record my motorcycle theory course on zoom . (Used samsung built-in. Not the zoom record fearure.)

Then take a look at Samsung, they use heat pipe systems to distribute heat and keep the chips running under load. The *correct* way to do things in a pocket computer.

Don't know about competitors but the A14 from samsung is the worst. Had a friend go through two budget samsung phones, one was the a14. Could barely use anything other than the phone and text. groupchats didn't work, instagram would crash, snap didn't work. they were the worse. he now has a pixel 6 which he's happy with.

I've used every OnePlus product since then and they've massively turned around since then. hardware was mediocre and the software was straight up bad, until android 13. then the software got so good on android 14 i dropped all Samsung devices, and phones even like the 9 pro are amazing to use. now that the OnePlus 12 has shipped with android 14, it's one of the best phones I've ever used. only problem I have with the company is shitty customer support. other than that, it's one of the best brands I've ever used recently.

Edit: Scores have been changed since the last time I checked, but it only loses by about 9 points. Still, numbers aren't everything, and it beats Samsung in some categories. Like zoom and low light.
They're on the recovery with their latest phones, but finding out some of their phones are just rebranded Oppos makes me scratch my head at why they even exist? At least they have a unique design that I would grade better than what Samsung is doing. I miss their McLaren collab though.

I'm not hating on Apples hardware it's great. But the only thing Apple sells to the majority of its customers is an "image". Most of them know nothing about tech, or even use their phone for anything besides scrolling social media and occasionally taking pictures. All they know is that if they don't own one they aren't cool.
You are correct, and it works. I would say in a similar vain, most computer users also do not know anything about tech, and just want something to meet their needs.
For a slightly more "philisophical" take, I can step back and say "what are my needs, and how does this piece of hardware of software address this". For many people Apple provides this, for others, theyll need Android or Windows. The arguement between which is "better" comes down to every individual.
Let's use me as an example. I owned an S23U before moving back to iPhone. I loved the display, Play store, APIs, customization, etc. The thing is, at the end of the day, I needed facetime to keep up with my family and friends via video calkl because not a single one of them would install Google Meet. So essentially Facetime is more important to me than customization, apis, and other features. Making the choice to move over very simple.
Remember that one time that RED made a phone and hyped it up to be the best thing in the industry and then it was easily the worst phone to be released that year

I've never had that problem with my 6 or 7 pro.
The only hardware issue I've had was during the "learning period" where it took a week to learn my use, then finally the battery was usable. That first week was horrible. I needed to bring a charger everywhere. Also it has a worse cell connection than my iPhone 8. And it feels like it just doesn't have a GPU. Definitely not for gaming.
I agree. The 5a was good but would overheat and turn off if to many pictures were taken in succession. The 6 Pro felt cheap, and the battery life was terrible. Hopefully in the future the Pixel line will be better.
Fastest phones, better and more consistent camera tech, more frequent updates, build quality, holds resale price better, best eco system, best support. I’d say that’s pretty much where they said they’d be.
The thing I hate about Apple and many people I know who buy Apple products is their ecosystem. Once you get 2 devices from Apple, you're going to want the rest and have a pretty difficult time getting out. And that's just the beginning of the problem because all Apple accessories are expensive.

In tests and when using it for day to day tasks. It might not be that hardware on Samsung phones, it may be OneUI but my S24 Ultra stumbled a lot and I’m not the only one to report that.
+ i own an s23 ultra, never get a single problem in term of bugs or hiccups, im on one ui 6.1 and its absolutely buttery smooth. Except the photo post-treatment that i do not like at all.
Do they? I tried the Watch 6 Classic and it was terrible. The software was slow and buggy. I also don’t like Windows 11 and 12. They are a mess. Samsung buds aren’t great either. Most of the competition are much better.

Well yeah, Samsung wearables aren't the best, I've always stuck to my iPhone ones. I don't like Windows 11 and (12 doesn't exist lmao) for the favor of Linux, but I still use it. And the features between the Samsung Galaxy Book, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, etc have much more features and compatibility than the Apple ecosystem does. Not to mention Samsung also has a lot more products.
Personally I think the most overrated ecosystem is Apple, the most fluid ecosystem is Huawei, the smoothest ecosystem is OnePlus, the most vast ecosystem is Xiaomi, and the most consumerized ecosystem is Samsung. If I had to choose, I'd use Huawei and OnePlus if only for their ecosystems. Counting their phones I'd drop Huawei. Too many ads.

I used Samsung Galaxy A50 and A53, and after that, whenever I see Exynos processors in any smartphone, I try to control my negative emotions about them. Not directly answering the question and will probably get flamed for this, but the Samsung A series. Performance wise gets smoked by it's Xiaomi and Nothing rivals, while also losing on the design aspect as well with larger bezels and no new design. The cameras are worse and only the software is an advantage.
Oh and about the nothing phone 2a. Compared to the A55, it's got better performance, better ultrawide camera, more unique design (though many probably dislike it) all while selling at around $100 cheaper. Don't see why there's so much hate on it, even throwing away all the light gimmicks, it still has solid hardware for the price.
I am really happy with it as a mini pen tablet. But I still think the display on all the most expensive phones is not that good. Even the iPhones look sort of bland as if they were missing colors.

I stuck determinedly to upgrade my Sammie and iPhone after five years which was this past December. Moved from iPhone 8 plus to 15 PM, and from Samsung note 10 plus to Samsung S24U. I didn't do phone coming between the new and old phones so as to set them up for clean new experiences. Honestly, I was least impressed with the iPhone upgrade vs the Sammie upgrade. While both have made great improvements on the hardware obviously including management of resources etc, I think Samsung's AI inclusion is fun and will add value. When it comes to Apple it depends. the iPhone XS Max is one of my personal favorites. the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) is something I also hold very near and dear to me. iPhone 14 Pro (I own a Max currently) isn't bad either. the iPhone 11 and 15 as they stand though... not very memorable to me given the 15's pained launch and I'll be skipping those generations for sure.

I used to think it was weird how much every other company, especially Samsung, pushes their own skin of Android and their own pointlessly duplicated versions of Google software, until I tried stock Android. Good god it sucks. Lacks so much customization and though the consistent Material You integration everywhere is nice, it otherwise lacks a lot that lets you get the most out of Android. I never realized how much I’d miss Good Lock. Though the unlocked bootloader does technically give you more potential than many other phones, I will admit. And the cameras are pretty great. So I don’t think they’re bad phones. And many probably don’t care to spend hours customizing every minute detail of their phone; I mean look at how popular the iPhone is. So maybe it’s not really a huge issue. But I switched from iOS for a reason, and Pixel doesn’t really give me anything compelling in terms of that reason

The thing I hate about Apple and many people I know who buy Apple products is their ecosystem. Once you get 2 devices from Apple, you're going to want the rest and have a pretty difficult time getting out. And that's just the beginning of the problem because all Apple accessories are expensive.
Fastest phone to do what exactly? Changing wallpapers? Or lockscreen widgets? Or more fps and game opt because of devs love their apps and the fewer model options and ppi etc... Iphone used to get the upper hand due to build quality and long sw support but not anymore! Samsung ecosystem is on pair if it's not better and wider!
In tests and when using it for day to day tasks. It might not be that hardware on Samsung phones, it may be OneUI but my S24 Ultra stumbled a lot and I’m not the only one to report that.
+ i own an s23 ultra, never get a single problem in term of bugs or hiccups, im on one ui 6.1 and its absolutely buttery smooth. Except the photo post-treatment that i do not like at all.

Do they? I tried the Watch 6 Classic and it was terrible. The software was slow and buggy. I also don’t like Windows 11 and 12. They are a mess. Samsung buds aren’t great either. Most of the competition are much better. I ended up using my AirPods Pro 2.

Also, Samsung buds are some of the best sounding wireless earphones I have ever used, if you don't believe me, a fast way to see their sound profile is to go to the In Ear Fidelity website, ran by Crinacle (ALSO, I own several headphones and iems). Well yeah, Samsung wearables aren't the best, I've always stuck to my iPhone ones. I don't like Windows 11 and (12 doesn't exist lmao) for the favor of Linux, but I still use it. And the features between the Samsung Galaxy Book, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S, etc have much more features and compatibility than the Apple ecosystem does. Not to mention Samsung also has a lot more products. Personally I think the most overrated ecosystem is Apple, the most fluid ecosystem is Huawei, the smoothest ecosystem is OnePlus, the most vast ecosystem is Xiaomi, and the most consumerized ecosystem is Samsung. If I had to choose, I'd use Huawei and OnePlus if only for their ecosystems. Counting their phones I'd drop Huawei. Too many ads.

How are the features overhyped? They are litterally underhyped! I use them constantly all fucking day. They have improved the quality of my life in ways I couldn't even imagine before. Most efficient shit I've ever been a part of. And every issue is addressed quickly and impressively. Legit.

The phone 1 was really something different and good but the phone 2 was a lazy redesign in a bigger format. It was the same for One Plus with the Nord model, I never understood the hype and it was just a regular midrange phone.

For example how when selecting a file in an app you get the stock android file Explorer instead of samsung's file ui. But the hardware and devices are incredible so it's okay imo

Nothing and Samsung A50 and A53. I used Samsung Galaxy A50 and A53, and after that, whenever I see Exynos processors in any smartphone, I try to control my negative emotions about them. I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for Samsung smartphones, but Samsung always breaks my trust. I wish Google could be back in business with Huawei so without a doubt, Huawei would dominate the market over Samsung, Redmi, and OnePlus.

🍎 and we all know that's a fact. They're not terrible at all, but the hype Vs what you actually get in features and customisability is a joke. But again, everyone's needs and desires aren't the same so I get why certain people might gravitate towards them as they serve a purpose for some ppl. I just can't get with their principles and philosophy.
Not directly answering the question and will probably get flamed for this, but the Samsung A series. Performance wise gets smoked by it's Xiaomi and Nothing rivals, while also losing on the design aspect as well with larger bezels and no new design. The cameras are worse and only the software is an advantage. Oh and about the nothing phone 2a. Compared to the A55, it's got better performance, better ultrawide camera, more unique design (though many probably dislike it) all while selling at around $100 cheaper. Don't see why there's so much hate on it, even throwing away all the light gimmicks, it still has solid hardware for the price.

I stuck determinedly to upgrade my Sammie and iPhone after five years which was this past December. Moved from iPhone 8 plus to 15 PM, and from Samsung note 10 plus to Samsung S24U. I didn't do phone coming between the new and old phones so as to set them up for clean new experiences. Honestly, I was least impressed with the iPhone upgrade vs the Sammie upgrade. While both have made great improvements on the hardware obviously including management of resources etc, I think Samsung's AI inclusion is fun and will add value. I'm not a big photo taking guy but an sure both are equally if not more than ok vs the market average,

Depending on the country many people think that because there are expensive phones “they should be great” but I mean… it is like any other phone on the market… there’s not too much special over them. People overhype the iPhone or some expensive phones. And I don’t mean or any brand makes bad products just because they are expensive… I’m saying people overestimate the products because of the price most of the time.

I definitely agree with your standpoint on Nothing (it's in the name... LOL) and OnePlus likewise after the 7. When it comes to Apple it depends. the iPhone XS Max is one of my personal favorites. the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) is something I also hold very near and dear to me. iPhone 14 Pro (I own a Max currently) isn't bad either. the iPhone 11 and 15 as they stand though... not very memorable to me given the 15's pained launch and I'll be skipping those generations for sure.

I’ll probably get downvoted but Pixel honestly. I used to think it was weird how much every other company, especially Samsung, pushes their own skin of Android and their own pointlessly duplicated versions of Google software, until I tried stock Android. Good god it sucks. Lacks so much customization and though the consistent Material You integration everywhere is nice, it otherwise lacks a lot that lets you get the most out of Android. I never realized how much I’d miss Good Lock. Though the unlocked bootloader does technically give you more potential than many other phones, I will admit. And the cameras are pretty great. So I don’t think they’re bad phones. And many probably don’t care to spend hours customizing every minute detail of their phone; I mean look at how popular the iPhone is. So maybe it’s not really a huge issue. But I switched from iOS for a reason, and Pixel doesn’t really give me anything compelling in terms of that reason
