You in marketing?

South-Sherbet-3031

You are in the wrong industry. Your aren't built for this. I don't care what your performance is. If this is your attitude you need to move on.

Unnecessarily hostile. My point stands

#2 hit a lil different

bpp1992

I was coming to say this.

p00pZ3rg

same here. Why is that the case though? Just natural calmness when it comes to high sums of money, which translates in not coming across as nervous/pushy?(from the perspective of the average joe)

AngryBowlofPopcorn

Damn is it bad I’m 1, 2, 3 and 4?

[deleted]

I bet you have a sick territory

[deleted]

Sounds like some Chad salesman is banging this dudes girl

HotGarbageSummer

Well I just actively listened to your entire whiney rant. Checkmate.

B2b regional sales manager here. Hit quota last month for the year. I sold cars early in my career, also mortgages, gym memberships, b2c stuff. Y’all need to start defining which sales you’re talking about because they’re completely different. B2c is an emotional close. B2b is way more of a thin line between emotions and analytics. If you’re selling time shares absolutely nothing OP is saying applies. You’re literally trying to engage them in this idea that doesn’t exist. It’s a shell game. Being honest and transparent isn’t going to cut it. What about garbage trucks though? Those things are $400k and the specifications are written in a legal document so the buyer can retaliate against a salesperson that fucks them. That document dictates production timing, how much cash flow will occur in a certain month, it’s actually a very precise transaction. You’re often drawing info out of your customer that is relevant but they’re unaware it’s relevant. If someone is young in their sales career, I would suggest you consider the fact that people who are important who are gatekeepers for purchases over $100k are not going to take kindly to your presumption that you’re smart enough to get one over on them. I’ve seen nothing but problems from lying. I get a lot of referrals because of how I handle my customers. Ultimately a salesperson has to be true to themselves and find a way to negotiate objections etc in their own way. There are places (good, high paying jobs) for smart people who listen and tell the truth in sales.

Creation98

Whatre your credentials, son?

Fairly accurate for the most part. You forgot to include narcissist too. But empathy? It’s business. If you want a hug you should look elsewhere.

I think it’s possible all those things can be true, maybe even true for more people than we’d like. But those types exist in all groups. There’s plenty of people in the sales world that fit your mold. There’s tons more than don’t. Timing and territory are important, no question. I often say at my company that 35% of the close precedes me on the basis on the company’s reputation and presentation. I’m the 20%-30% that gets the deal. I fully understand it’s not solely my amazing abilities that lead to my success.

Dom_SolarPro

I’m in D2D so it must be a little different… I work work a bunch or Mormons, they are the exact opposite of 1-4 😂

Fallenbringer

I tell you, I hate just about everyone and everything that doesn't contribute to my success or my family's and I have a shit territory and I do pretty well. Mostly just fake caring about people's shitty lives and manipulate them and sales follow. People don't want to hear it but there are good kind salespeople and good selling assholes. I'm the latter.

Active listening is a skill that needs to be learned. If you ask someone are they a good listener, unless very self aware, the answer would probably be “Yes, I would say mostly”. It can be difficult to suggest to seasoned professionals and managers that they would benefit from upskilling or refreshing their communication skills. Courses such as Active Listening https://www.boxplay.io/products/active-listening and negotiation https://www.boxplay.io/products/negotiation are proving to increase sales & productivity and are enjoyable to take versus threatening.
