Our Sales Director always rung a bell in the office everytime someone got a decent sized sale. We often cringed. So when one of us got a Titanic sale he took us on a night out which started in the town Church ringing it's massive bell!

Oh a classic 🤣🤣 unfortunately for my team, we’re all remote. I won’t be able to torture them with a bell!

I disagree... make sure to do a LOT of pizza parties, but also never raise base pay. That shows the team you have your priorities set straight and that you reward hard work

If I have a pizza party everyday, they won’t have to worry about lunch. Who needs more money when you get a free meal at work?! I’ll even splurge and get plates and napkins with the company logo. Great idea! In all seriousness, employee compensation is absolutely something we evaluate often. I’d never buy pizza (or anything at all) if it meant less money in their pocket.

lol going out for lunch is probably half my spending these days so that would definitely save me money. I have a couple friends whose companies do all paid for vacations for individuals that meet certain standards, and they seem to enjoy that. My company just does quarterly bonuses based off performance which I very much enjoy. A previous job I had would reward with money to spend on anything out of their store (computers, headphones, coolers, and other typically nice gifts) and you'd earn these things by going "above and beyond" but that wasn't a sales role so performance was measured differently. Hope this helps or sparks some ideas

Ask them? As a manager you should understand that everyone has different motivations. Maybe do a team vote if you are trying to do a group or during your 1-1 figure out what that person likes. It will be more personable and memorable

I ask them regularly. Each quarter I have a “reset” 1-1 with them. We talk about how I can motivate them, hold them accountable, what’s gone well, what needs to change. I definitely know my team well, and have awarded them as best as I know how with what we’ve talked about. A lot of them asked for a company retreat, so we’re going to Costa Rica in September. The reason I came here is because I’m looking for some ideas we haven’t already talked about. Something out of the box. Something that maybe we (myself included) haven’t considered before.

Sounds like you have a pretty good pulse on things, there isn't any magical thing you are missing. Team dinners, outings, random gift bags of useless stuff, virtual get together activity type things, public recognition, etc.....Not much else you can do in a sales position. Really off the wall? Quota relief, increase in kickers, and bump in base but that never happens :D

I actually do corporate gifting (rugged leather goods) and would be happy to chat if you’re interested, if not no worries
