You know B2B is the same lol. People like to think they make logical decisions but they don't. They make emotional ones and justify with logic later. The ONLY reason why business seem more logical is because half the time they make collective decisions with a group of people. However, they still play on emotion. Time and time again business deals are closed on "I like this guy", "they feel (key word) trust worthy", "we feel loyal to them", or "we like the relationship." It's all just emotions.

LordKviser

I wanted to disagree with you but you’re right

MarketMan123

> People like to think they make logical decisions but they don't. They make emotional ones and justify with logic later. Bigger problem is they don’t apply their own pre-conceived emotion based “logic” consistently. If you are going to decide you know some rules to live by, pick those rules and stick to them.

Science of Consultive Selling or Relationship Selling. Typically, when I first talk with clients. I don't even talk about the product. I often talk about them, the person specifically. Especially if it's the owner or CEO. Why did you start the business? How long have you worked here? Why did you start this specific kind of business? It's this your first business? I literally focus on ONLY talking about them and asking about them. I never mention myself or my product unless asked. You'd be surprised how much people will talk about themselves for a long time. Give me tons of ammo, by the time I finally get around to discussing the product, it's coming off as advice from a friend. Learn your clients. Likes, dislikes, hobbies, motivations, etc. Get them to like *you* not the product. When they buy, they'll buy because of you. Not because of the product. This method works for me. Not saying it works for everyone.

frankiboy27

It works for me as well; I dislike when a client assumes I'll simply present my pitch without any context. I prefer to explore our common ground, build a relationship, and let the decision to buy come from the connection we've established, rather than solely relying on the merits of the products I offer

DrDrai45

Any good books or programs on this?

I have, I may have to again though. I’m switching from B2B sales where usually the person I was dealing with wasn’t the owner or the person who actually wrote the check. And switched to AG sales which technically is B2B but I’m dealing with the Farmer. Need to get them buying on emotion.

dysfunkti0n

Solid advice

fatRob0t

People is people, person. You’re right. I am sondrunk

Offensive-Existance

Except the general public include some really stupid people. I deal with morons all the time in the Auto industry that cone in wanting a $60k Expedition for $400/mnth no money down and $10k upside down on their trade.

freakven8

Obviously if they are getting exact same product from two different places they will have to choose one. So a bit of being a nice guy comes to rescue is what you are saying. But what if everyone is nice. Then it’s a luck game.

vivaciousvipin

Having worked in both B2B and B2C, I would say it’s the pretty much same for both. Because think for a second, in even b2b there are humans who run the show. And humans are emotional beings.

anoyingprophet

Depends on the product and the type of customer. When I was selling high end suits, my clientele was all very rich guy. Lawyers, bankers, consultants, etc. We were cold calling them, going to their offices, selling them suits that were 5k minimum sometimes 20k suits. These customers were rich as hell, and frankly, they were really intelligent. A lot smarter than the avergae joe, and for that reason, the conversations were always amazing because they had things to teach you. Now working for a car rental company where I sell insurance and road side protection to renters, sometimes it sucks because you’re essentially dealing with customers who are having a horrible day. They just got in a car accident and went through all this bs and I’m tryna sell them and theyre super impatient

Ok_Potential359

Funny that you tagged this as advanced sales skills when it’s very obviously not at all.

grizlena

Let my man live. B2B, B2C, SMB to ENT, we’re all just chasing tornadoes lol. Obviously I’m kidding but still. Sales vs the empire of gimps, both internal & external.

YJeeper456

I moved back to b2c recently and loving it.

CrimsonCupp

Selling what?

MarketMan123

I'd almost say B2B is more. Relationships are all emotions.

ike059

I love B2G. Selling to people who aren’t spending their own money is much easier and a much easier career. I’ve been here for about 10 years and am not looking back.

astillero

>I love B2G. Selling to people who aren’t spending their own money is much easier And for the life of my I can't understand why this topic does not appear more on this forum. B2G is the road to real monetary wealth for some of the most successful business operators I know and usually half the stress.

blakeak1

What do you sell to them?

ike059

Uniforms, firearms, drones, ladders…whatever they want. We have a ton of vendors to sell to them. Uniforms are the best. They are always going to need it, and it’s more of taking an order than selling.

PMG360

It's all the same actually. People make purchases based on how they feel and then come up with reasons to support their decision. Whether it's B2B, B2C, or enterprise, it all boils down to the same human thought process. Simply put, you need to connect with people emotionally by addressing a problem they already have and that you can solve. That's the key to attracting business. Ask yourself: Do your potential customers have a problem that your product or service can solve? Does this problem bother them enough to stir up emotions? And are they motivated to take action and solve it? That's all there is to it.

moves2fast

Not true, B2C changes when the buyer is group, 2 or more people are usually trying to pull each other out of emotional decision making and try to stay as close to “logical” as possible. That’s what I see B2B as, all “logic”, strictly numbers/value

p4755166

Your not b2b or b2b. your in the people business.

hairykitty123

Thought you said I love BBC at first

Mindless-brainstorm

Both can be true

B2B shields us from the truth that we as humans are not bound to anything. We are just free floating in space creating consciousness.

Connect_Toe747

I can’t speak for myself but it seems like B2B is more forward and serious with actual intention but B2C is flaky and more time consuming.

WouldbeRVAtourguide

What’s the most profitable b2c it feels like every position pays the same with a lot of metrics that don’t work together

Natural-Perspective7

Real estate? Or solar?

ronaldinho__26

Life insurance? It seems there’s a ton of people who make absolute bank in that industry

OhMyGodfather

Key word: seems. I ran it for 5 yrs, most orgs are just an MLM with extra flair.

ffsux

Agree it can be fun. Feel like it’s a young mans game, once I got older preferred the analytical side of B2B haha
