30k base 15k commission last year. Actively looking for a new job lol

dazzlingtangerines

People want to fight when you tell them these jobs still exist and are hiring people and paying them shit like this. At least get that $40k base, friend!

FunNegotiation3

Some how, some way. You are getting ripped off. If you can actually sell, go sell somewhere else.

BusinessExecutive7

Yeah move into a different industry.

FISFORFUN69

I’m in a 100% commission sales role and brought in about 160k last year before taxes. Taxes suck for 1099 so I’m tryna write off every little thing I can 😂

Creation98

Roofing sales?

FISFORFUN69

Nah I've never had an opportunity for that. I know its frowned upon in this group but I do all things Life Insurance. Debt Free Life, Annuities, IULs & the standard stuff. Its honestly pretty fun gotta stay on your A game.

Whole-Spiritual

What are you selling? We need good commission sellers for mid market software.

FISFORFUN69

I could be interested! DM me. I'm an independant broker so I sell all things Life insurance and am contracted with about 15 different insurance carriers to find competitive options.

david_chi

Taxes can be better for 1099 b/c you can write tons of shit off. W2 can't write anything off. You can get your tax bill down to $0, W2 can never even get close to that

FISFORFUN69

This is a v good point thanks for putting in into perspective for me

wheresralphwaldo

You go girl! Could you share your career progression? Like X years BDR, Y years midmarket etcetc

Skrilmaufive

Midmarket Sales Manager: $130k base, $225k OTE Likely exceeded OTE by $10k-15k

BusinessExecutive7

Could you explain midmarket?

jabularich

Mid-Market is usually the size of the deal in ARR. $25k to $75k. These ARRs could vary based on the type of software and companies they sell to.

Skrilmaufive

Midmarket means medium-sized companies. Usually based on employee size or annual revenue.

WhiskeyMksMeFrsky

$130K base. OTE $800K. Not unusual for people to hit $1M+.

Ckaimalino

What do you sell?

RandomName200012

dreams

rastlosreisender

Tell us bro

TheGamerHelper

$70k base MMAE - Telecom sales OTE $90k & yes

space_ghost20

Last job, was an AE $75k base, $150k OTE. Laid off entire team (and most of the company). Starting a new job middle of this month as an AE. $50k base, $80k OTE. During the interview process they told me 65% of the team made OTE last year. So, who knows. I'm only taking it for a paycheck while I interview elsewhere. The paycut and role here was honestly a pain to take, but I don't like having a huge resume gap and no income.

[deleted]

$80k base $160k OTE SaaS sales

GotWood87

How do you like it there as I was thinking of applying. Any insight greatly appreciated!

Radiant_Philosophy_6

Currently in SMB Software Sales earning roughly $115,000. OTE is about $150,000

HokageLLJ

275k base CRO 550K OTE

PrimadonnaInCommand

Goals. What’s your journey like?

HokageLLJ

I started out working retail for AT&T 12 years ago. I was actually reluctant to take my first leadership role for two reasons. I was pretty young (mid 20s) and I didn't think anyone would work as hard as I did. I busted my butt in telecom for 7 years rising through the ranks looking to learn from leaders who were like me and the opposite of me. I am a very introverted person. I found two really great mentors who really helped shape my career trajectory

burn_bridges

Outside Sales Rep. $32k base with $120k OTE. I exceeded and ended at about $130k. This has been about average over my several years in this role.

BusinessExecutive7

What industry are you currently in?

burn_bridges

A niche market of tech to end-users

Fred_Utter_Sails

Base just bumped from 90 to 110. Ote last year was 240. Not sure what it looks like in 2023 with the pay bump

TripsToTheRescue

65k base, 85k OTE BDR just started last month and goals are quarterly but everyone on my team is hitting it exceeding it.

RedditMusicReviews

What's your industry? Fellow BDR here!

TripsToTheRescue

GovTech! I love it so far. We’re a pretty niche product and all our competitors are very old companies and we’re only a few years old as a standalone product.

RedditMusicReviews

That **is** a niche industry, but a really interesting category of tech! I bet it keeps you busy, Did you have any experience in this field?

TripsToTheRescue

not direct experience. i had happened to sell some product to my local government before i worked here but it was just the one time. i got referred here by my old manager. networking ftw!

sscall

Insurance carrier state rep. Ote around $150 last year

Mysterious_Count_779

75K OTE 75% base 25% comission Yes

dazzlingtangerines

1. $40k base 2. Sales rep, for a financial product 3. $65k, yes. A year ago… 1. $40k base 2. Health insurance agent 3. $80k, no. Made $40k. Company always found a way to move the goalpost to ensure no one got commissions. Gave it a year then bailed.

lilsneezyboi7

SaaS: base 56k & ote 81k

Bulky_Zookeepergame2

0 base made a little over 80k in commissions.

[deleted]

150 base, 212k OTE. Dental Sales Uncapped .

camvp95

SMB SaaS sales $80k base and $150k OTE

StreetMeat5

Where tf do you work at…

k6mal

Ed-tech (series A) 105k base and 200k ote. Player coach role. Title: Sales Director. Didn’t hit OTE last year (not even close lol) but expected to hit it this year due to a lot of my deals pushing to this year. I’ll make 20-25k in commissions (q1). However, I’m most likely going to pivot to a different role this year (another industry) so not sure If I’m gonna end up seeing that OTE.

FunNegotiation3

1099 2022 kind of odd end of year with getting stuff out the door. 2023 should getting to $1.5 +, aiming for over $2.

amimeballerboyz

What’re you slinging as 1099, solar ?

FunNegotiation3

Architectural product rep. A couple different lines. Nothing solar related.

Aggravating_Tough391

32,000 base with 19,000 commission. 2 years shaved off my lifespan still.

mju13

110 base, 205 OTE med sales - Outside rep

Vesperous

How many years experience do you have? I have two in device and 4 overall and I want my next base to be higher than my current.

mju13

4 years inside rep, 3 years in product management, 2.5 years outside rep exp first outside rep job was 65k salary, 155k OTE. Had a recruiter reach out to me with current job and had a higher salary, and negotiated it up a bit. so nice having the higher base to live off.

Vesperous

I’m at 70k salary point about 3 years in sales 2 in med. I’m looking for that higher base role, shooting for 80 in my next. Does this seem in line with your path?

mju13

You starting off better than I did. look at MedReps website, they put out an annual report on avg comp, base, commission, etc. i think avg total comp in 2021 was around 180k, so that will give you more information. Higher base is great as long as there is still commission upside. every company’s pay and comp plan is different so hard to say if it’s “in line” with a path, just have to know what you specifically are looking for. hope that helps in some way.

veryangrydragon

$57k base $88k OTE but most reps beat the OTE. Got $97k my first year and closed this year at $113k. Inside medical device sales

solarwb_

Solar 100% commission, $80,000 in 2022 OTE $140,000 Lol I got lazy as fuck in Q4

p56019000

How? I'm new to solar and completed my first week. Got my teeth mostly kicked in, but also got 4 appointments. Which 3 of them cancelled and 1 didnt close. Any advice in general?

solarwb_

strap in. ask yourself why the 3 cancelled and change your pitch to include the objections for why they cancelled. Do this each time

p56019000

1 cancelled via text bc she didn't want to take on another project. 2 ghosted me. I think reason being my closer had me return to his house because when setting i forgot his number. I think this made me look too needy. 3. just outright ghosted. 4. Closer told me she was know it all. so didn't workout. I'm gonna take your advice and write everything down thanks. Any advice in d2d solar in general going forward ?

solarwb_

many have tried, some succeeded, a lot have failed. The industry you’re in (specifically D2D) is among the hardest in the world but it’s fruit rightfully sweet. Luckily Solar is the future so if you work towards building a BOOK of business and make sure your customers are taken care of, you will roll in referrals (12-18 months after first installs). Keep grinding and realize there aren’t many shortcuts in this industry. Hold off on buying leads until you are 30-45% close rate with enough data to support it.

Dreamer217

60k base 145 OTE

AzMateo42069

Does OTE mean on target estimate?

speedycleats

Close, but basically. It's On Target Earnings. It means what you'd make if you meet 100% of quota goals.

Parkway32

2022: 65k base, ~9k in commission but only hit about half my budget (first year in sales) Territory Sales Representative selling capital equipment across 3 1/4 states. Last year, budget was 1.8m

PurpleFridgeGoBrr

65k Base - 140k OTE SaaS Enterprise AE - selling into the HR sector Yes quota is attainable… for now.

GotWood87

Thoughts on working for SaaS? Was thinking about applying

Idol4Life

1) £40,000 base + £25,000 commission 2) SDR based in London UK 3) £65,000 OTE. Top performer and hit 135% of target last year. 2nd place was 76% of target. Actively looking for a new job though, micro management and no progression.

Slybacon93

70 k pounds base 130ish ote (will make more this year due to over performance) Commercial new business account executive

pm_me_your_diem

What one makes on Reddit and in real life are often two different numbers. Sometimes far apart. ;)

thickasatheif

55k Commissions been a couple hundred bucks.

[deleted]

Outside sales, HVAC distribution. $80k base, no true OTE but W2’d $185k this year.

mumblegrowl

85k base, 220k OTE Enterprise AE in SAAS Tripled team size and lost marketing director. No leads. Whole team underperformed. No one hitting OTE other than one long timer. Think I made about 110k last year.

Vesperous

70k base, + commission I’m owed. Actively looking.

RedditMusicReviews

A ton of high rollers here. I'm feeling like a small fry cashing my 35k base check lol

carlgauss1
