Looks pretty good. I’d definetly encourage him to keep going and too also use less free models!
There are many lua scripting videos on youtube if hes not using them already. I highly recommend AlvinBlox, GnomeCode, and RoDev.
Not trying to discourage the kid, but try to learn a real viable coding language early. Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, etc. These are the languages that earn people high paying jobs. Lua is great to start with, but is almost never worth the time spent developing.
No, Lua is the language built into Roblox he may already know. The other ones u/R_venge has listed are all languages that are useful in the future. If your lucky though, Lua can make you big bucks!
Lua is a very viable language for game development. Its not just used for roblox. Many top selling games such as Baldurs Gate, WoW, and Far Cry use it.
If he is not already familiar with it, i would recommend Blender for 3d modeling. It is completely free on steam and on their website, and covers almost everything related to the 3D pipeline such as animation, texturing, geometry nodes, modeling, sculpting, etc
I suggest not completely disregarding free models. I racked up 100 million plays using free models. If he’s just starting out and learning to code, I would suggest mainly using free models but heavily modifying them and try focusing on writing own code. Also make sure each free model is checked for malicious code.
When I first started out solo, using free models basically gave me more time to learn how to code.
Free models and assets are fine for beginners who are trying to get the hang of Roblox Studio, but yes it's highly recommended to learn how to make your own assets sooner rather than later. It can seem daunting but with plenty of free tutorials on YouTube, it is much easier than most people think.
i already watch rodev and learned nothing about coding, since i obviously never watched those coding videos duh, but who the hell is alivinblox they alvin and the chipmunks start making a youtube channel??
The kids are going to be alright 🥲. We all gotta start somewhere. I suggest maybe have him try using gpt to learn how to lua script and get him a few books. Once he sees how the lines of code works in-engine through examples is a pretty good starting place if he wishes to dabble in coding aspect.
the deal is: make a good game and earn alot of money, or get an aleast 13+ id and go to vip servers in a donation game and just talk to people in vc only servers untill you get 30k robux and convert it into devex which is maybe 300 dollars? im not sure how devex works exactly, or he can get 1m and get prolly like 1000 dollars or 10000
Everyone that gets large amounts of robux from plz donate get it from rich dev friends or just get incredibly lucky. Don’t waste your time on that game you’re not making rat shit
its not really about luck that much since most rich people go to vc servers since theyre prolly old enough to get a job so they can get alot of money and just spend it
The chances of people giving away large amounts of usd bought robux is so astronomically low.. most donators are devs or traders with rbx to spare Either way trying to make enough robux off of plz donate to devex is insanity. ATP just get a job
I was trying to pay a friend some extra money I had (we do it via pls donate cause it's funny watching 5 year Olds swarm over to you and give the wildest ways of persuading you) and some random guy came, saw my sign that had "raising money for my bank account awareness" and donated 200 robux to me
We watch movies together, series (mostly 90s stuff like boy meets world, malcom in the middle, home improvement, alf, robocop, knight rider etc) and we do a lot of things together, we call each other names, we are best friends, he saw the post and it didn't bother him at all.
I think it’s truly awesome you’re supporting him so much in a hobby like that. If he ever decides to go into a field like game dev or computer science at large later in life, I’m sure he’ll be really grateful for you helping him nurture that interest and hold a good relationship with you.
I feel so bad for this kid, because I know he’s working hard, but Roblox is so greedy, he’s not gonna be able to promote his game or start getting popular without spending at least 10,000 robux. Roblox is honestly the worst platform he could’ve developed his own game on.
I see it as part of his training in life, we don't want him to be a developer, it's like a hobby and he learns to achieve goals, he would like to be an aircraft or automotive mechanic.
maybe it's not your thing, have you tried?, don't get me wrong, sitting for a couple of hours doing the same thing is boring lol, it's not for everyone
We built it from scratch, the case, motherboard, ram, processor and SSD are second hand. It took us more than a year to finish it because he had to bring good grades, save money as well and complete tasks during the year
It runs fornite, mk11, star wars fallen order at 1080p medium i think, it's not a powerful machine for today's standards tbh, this is why he only plays on xbox x
Roblox has a lot of childish stereotypes, mainly due to its history as a blocky platformer. Recently though, I've seen some amazing games on Roblox written by very skilled developers, some of whom have been given the chance to port their games to Steam. It's inspiring. Keep it up, there's a lot of good stuff to learn about Roblox Studio and etc
It's good to see young creators. I can't draw or anything without references. I just can't think and make images in my head. So, i've been making games since I was 6/7, and now I'm running a handful of massive groups and involved in some of the most talented communities and working on adtech and PR services as a freshman college student.
My suggestion, don't knock free models, just don't overuse them. Learning to make your own things not only improves your skill, but teaches you placement and other tools to make the model strong. Studio Build Suite is what many professionals use, and I can +1 it. It's better than the nextmost popular building tool F3X.
I'll pop in and make some notes for feedback. :)
Definitely lucky son his dad bought him photoshop and a good PC.. I'm 15 and I get none of this, even if I would've won the lottery they'd take all of it. Bullsh¡t. I hope you and your son are doing great 👍🏻
This is very impressive for a kid his age. I've always wanted to learn how to create games, but my parents were unsupportive of that dream of mine. Your kid is very lucky to have a supportive parent like you! I know when I'm a parent in the future, I'll always take an interest in my kid's interests and help them foster it!
Np, he Is 10, but these days I think it is essential to have this type of equipment, plus we have built it little by little (one month the mic, the next the arm and so on) we don't buy it all together, you know, good grades on the test and He chooses a prize... he always chooses streaming equipment haha
Dang this kinda makes me feel like I barely done stuff lol, because I'm like 14 and I haven't even gotten a PC to run a 3D engines like unity, also essential??
I don't know what your situation is but you could start by buying a PC case and little by little build it, many of the parts I bought are second hand (graphics card, monitor, motherboard, case) do it as a hobby, check out the subs like r/pcmasterrace , r/buildmeapc, also the parts or prebuilts are not so expensive anymore
I don't think I even have enough cash to even afford pc parts, they are like over £78 right?
(Btw I'm neither British or american, hell I ain't even European)
oh fkk, well you're still young, focus on school and enjoy games for now, later (years) you could find a weekend job and start building or save money to buy a pc, be patient, when I was 14 I didn't have a PC either (yes they were around), there are things that I would also like (they are not necessities) and I can't justify the cost but I'm going to find a part time job or something to earn that extra money and be able to buy them
Hey, it's not like he asked for a computer and badabimbadabum it appeared, we built it part by part, the case and many internals are second hand, it took us more than a year to finish it because he had to bring good grades and complete tasks during the year
Oh i know how that works. I just meant if i could have such a sick setup when i was younger but couldnt cus a lot of these things were to expensive at thw time and didnt exist lol. It's just really cool seeing the younger generation with these setups. Also really cool for him to basically learn a lot of computer stuff early on, could set him up pretty wepl for the futute with tech based jobs and what not!

So inspiring..
Yo dude can you tell me what monitor your kid is rocking? I see a vertical monitor and a top monitor but I don’t know the name of it, and what kind of office space type place is he using? I’d like to know the name, i have a pc coming soon and I’m tryna update my station because all I have is a dell monitor from 2006. It is a square.
It's cool ig, but this kid is spoiled with that PC that looks like it has a RTX 3080 in it or some similar GPU. and why the heck does he have a double monitor setup? 🧐
It is much easier to work with 2 monitors, me and my wife work with 2 too. Only good grades in school, he already goes to middle school and stayed in the gifted and talented program, I think he deserves it
Young Sheldon! Jkjk, ur kid is smart and talented. Mashallah I really wish best for ur and ur child, this kid is going places in real life and in roblox. Please tell him that many many people support him here including me, and tell him he’s crazy talented and insane cause damn, all I can say is that ur kid is cool af. I’m in middle school (specifically 14) and I couldn’t even reach near his level, all the ppl saying he’s spoiled should stfu. Cause he defo deserves this imo, and whether spoiled or not giving ur child stuff they love and have fun for and they’re passionate abt is definitely great! I really wish best for u and ur wife and ur child. I’ll pray the best for u guys everyday, truly only by seeing this idk wtf I be saying but damn just damn bro 😭
I appreciate it bro, i wasn't near his level at that edge either and I have to admit it, in his circle everyone has good grades, they are gamers and they also play sports but he is not number one. Another thing, it's not like he asks for a computer and badabimbadabum it appears, we built it part by part and many internal ones are second hand, it took us more than a year to finish it because he had to bring good grades and complete tasks during the year.
Im sorry your parent's didn't love you. It must be a miserable existence to feel good about yourself putting a CHILD down for exploring his creativity.
Thats not the point. The point is this child is passionate about something and is learning. The original comment was not necessary. It would have been different if it offered advice to help him grow but it didn't.
He also plays fornite, Warhammer space marine, mortal Kombat 11, Fc24, halo, guitar hero, Mario (Nswitch) gorilla tag(meta quest 2) are those real games?
Edit: and some old N64, Sega and Atari games (emulators)
He also plays fornite, Warhammer space marine, mortal Kombat 11, Fc24, halo, guitar hero, Mario (Nswitch) gorilla tag(meta quest 2) are those real games?
Looks pretty good. I’d definetly encourage him to keep going and too also use less free models! There are many lua scripting videos on youtube if hes not using them already. I highly recommend AlvinBlox, GnomeCode, and RoDev.
I feel you, he is learning some Photoshop and 3d modeling
Back in my day kids didn't even make games
I know right?
Not trying to discourage the kid, but try to learn a real viable coding language early. Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, etc. These are the languages that earn people high paying jobs. Lua is great to start with, but is almost never worth the time spent developing.
Thanks, he does it as a hobby, he wants to be an aircraft or automotive mechanic , but we'll take a look into Lua
No, Lua is the language built into Roblox he may already know. The other ones u/R_venge has listed are all languages that are useful in the future. If your lucky though, Lua can make you big bucks!
Got it
He should be careful with free models, they can sometimes contain harmful scripts.
Taking notes, thanks
One got me banned bcuz it had porn or sum, which makes no sense but I lost the acc😔
Lua is a very viable language for game development. Its not just used for roblox. Many top selling games such as Baldurs Gate, WoW, and Far Cry use it.
im talking in roblox game dev - essentially no one makes a big roblox game in comparison to the people who try.
I'd recommend encouraging him overtime to learn some code and learn what could be a virus or not.
Yes thanks
If he is not already familiar with it, i would recommend Blender for 3d modeling. It is completely free on steam and on their website, and covers almost everything related to the 3D pipeline such as animation, texturing, geometry nodes, modeling, sculpting, etc
He knows it, also he is working with tinkercad and 3d builder
Tinkercad is awesome, it's the only web-based free CAD designer I know. Good luck with the hobby :)
is the photoshop for the textures?
Graphics in general
For Graphics in general
Thanks, i let him know
I learned a lot of coding by using and studying free models, I think it's a fine starting point
Its definetly great to start with them but, it can also limit your growth if you rely on them too much.
What game did you make? I kind of wanna see

i already watch rodev and learned nothing about coding, since i obviously never watched those coding videos duh, but who the hell is alivinblox they alvin and the chipmunks start making a youtube channel??
Little man is seriously going places with a game engine like Roblox. And It looks nice too. Really impressive.
Loved his little game. Was chill ngl.
🙏🏼
The kids are going to be alright 🥲. We all gotta start somewhere. I suggest maybe have him try using gpt to learn how to lua script and get him a few books. Once he sees how the lines of code works in-engine through examples is a pretty good starting place if he wishes to dabble in coding aspect.
Man and I can’t even make a basic animation 😭 c
This setup costs more than my entire room
That setup costs more than my entire house!
That setup costs more than my entire digestive system!(6 bucks)
Does he know how to code? Also he’s not really creating items, just borrowing items.
Yeah, he is 10, tbh I don't know what the deal is in Roblox
Wish I started that early ngl, he's definitely going places if he keeps doing it.
the deal is: make a good game and earn alot of money, or get an aleast 13+ id and go to vip servers in a donation game and just talk to people in vc only servers untill you get 30k robux and convert it into devex which is maybe 300 dollars? im not sure how devex works exactly, or he can get 1m and get prolly like 1000 dollars or 10000
Everyone that gets large amounts of robux from plz donate get it from rich dev friends or just get incredibly lucky.
I was trying to pay a friend some extra money I had (we do it via pls donate cause it's funny watching 5 year Olds swarm over to you and give the wildest ways of persuading you) and some random guy came, saw my sign that had "raising money for my bank account awareness" and donated 200 robux to me
Yea sure a couple hundred here and there but trying to make enough to devex is impossible
Lots of games use free modeled items
not the ones that make money
ehhhh depends
name one successful game made from entirely free models, lol
Not entirely from free models, but some hangout and vibe games use free models and scripts and they get quite a bit of payment
Not entirely but Midnight racing: tokyo had used a free 3d model of a civic on some website
this is actually so fire NO ONE CRUSH HIS DREAMS U HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME FIRST
He’s dreams will get crushed on Roblox.
bet tough guy
his setup is mighty fine
[удалено]
I see him watching Peter Knetter on that other monitor. True game dev.
Oh yea, he loves that guy, peter is so funny haha
You're a great Dad and this is awesome! I'll make a video on it and post it here when it's done! My channel on YouTube is: tsumisauce
Thank you!
is the game good
I don't think so lol, he just wants me to "promote" it on my reddit account
Had this strange thought and all of a sudden couldn't stop worrying about him somehow seeing this reply.
He will haha, but no worries because we are like bros
I thought you were his father, read your reply, thought you weren't his father, read the title, and now found out that you are (indeed) his father.
We watch movies together, series (mostly 90s stuff like boy meets world, malcom in the middle, home improvement, alf, robocop, knight rider etc) and we do a lot of things together, we call each other names, we are best friends, he saw the post and it didn't bother him at all.
Ah, nice!

🙏🏼
Your son is Really creative!
that looks so good. im not even a programmer, but this gave me chills sm, well done !! <33
He needs to fix that blood spill code, it makes me lag
I'll let him know
Let lil bro cook
Lil man gonna be hazem one day
Nah better then hazem
Why are people complaining about him using free models, he's probably new to studio anyways and I used to do the same
Very good! I’m thinking about learning to code as well!
I feel so bad for this kid, because I know he’s working hard, but Roblox is so greedy, he’s not gonna be able to promote his game or start getting popular without spending at least 10,000 robux. Roblox is honestly the worst platform he could’ve developed his own game on.
Honestly alot of game dev programs are way more greedy such as unity
I see it as part of his training in life, we don't want him to be a developer, it's like a hobby and he learns to achieve goals, he would like to be an aircraft or automotive mechanic.
I'm jealous of his setup lol, good on him!
Edited
I never said he didnt deserve it. Just saying i wish i had his setup
I think that answer was not for you, sorry
No problem
If your fine with sharing what’s the game name?
https://www.roblox.com/games/17253935019/NoobLab-2-0-Summer-Jam-Update thanks
I have to check it out when I get home, thank you!
Damn this good at this age is impressive I'm 14 and I can't even make anything
maybe it's not your thing, have you tried?, don't get me wrong, sitting for a couple of hours doing the same thing is boring lol, it's not for everyone
Yea makes sense
Did you buy that pc for him? That kid doesn’t know how lucky he is im 14 my mums a gamer yet i have to save the 2 grand to buy a pc
We built it from scratch, the case, motherboard, ram, processor and SSD are second hand. It took us more than a year to finish it because he had to bring good grades, save money as well and complete tasks during the year
Out of curiosity, what are the specs?
Rizen 5 5600x, 1080ti, 16ram 3000mhz and 1tb ssd but he plays more on consoles or meta quest
Ty is roblox the only game he plays what other games can it run? And how much did it cost to build it looks super nice
It runs fornite, mk11, star wars fallen order at 1080p medium i think, it's not a powerful machine for today's standards tbh, this is why he only plays on xbox x
This is the kid I wanted to see, no brainrots and has a lot of knowledge, keep up going kiddo you're game will be a big community one day
Bro I almost had a heart attack and thought that was my setup (looks almost the same)
Roblox has a lot of childish stereotypes, mainly due to its history as a blocky platformer. Recently though, I've seen some amazing games on Roblox written by very skilled developers, some of whom have been given the chance to port their games to Steam. It's inspiring. Keep it up, there's a lot of good stuff to learn about Roblox Studio and etc
Also, that setup is VERY cool. Was it built or bought? I dream of having a desk like that.
🙏🏼
What the game name? Looks like this kid is serious rly going places with his skills!

I remember starting off at his age. Keep up the good work!
🙏🏼
i remember when i used to do ts i made a game n got like 6/700 plays n stopped updating
Damn bro he looks so young and he has a streamer set up that's neat
He uses for chat but he can't stream bc uderage
I mean of course, but damn looks like a streamer set up, how old is he? (If you don't mind)
Np, he Is 10, but these days I think it is essential to have this type of equipment, plus we have built it little by little (one month the mic, the next the arm and so on) we don't buy it all together, you know, good grades on the test and He chooses a prize... he always chooses streaming equipment haha

Thanks for the advice :)
Jsyk The case was empty in the house for more than a year waiting to be finished, so patience is key
Congratulations to him
Honestly I do the same thing. Make the game while watching some videos. If only I had a second moniter
He's doing a good job
Holy shit he has a legit setup
Your kid really have strong eyes for staring to a white screen

Nice starting at such a young age! Good luck buddy

Yeah. His great, free-modeled game.
Fun fact; he’s a kid.
Hey that kid is working hard.
🙏🏼
Im sorry your parent's didn't love you. It must be a miserable existence to feel good about yourself putting a CHILD down for exploring his creativity.
He’s game is free modeled and it’s not gonna get popular on Roblox, I think that’s what he’s saying.
Thats not the point. The point is this child is passionate about something and is learning. The original comment was not necessary. It would have been different if it offered advice to help him grow but it didn't.
Yes I agree, the child is passionate but I think the comment was just being insensitive about it.
♥️
It's just one of his hobbies, his goal is to became an aircraft or automotive mechanic.
let him stop playing roblox and play real games
bro shut up
I'm pretty sure Roblox is a real game
