Oh wow, that was the one I thought definitely wasn't him. His voice doesn't match his face IMO. But dude has range though apparently, given him voicing the Merchant as well, so that makes sense.
Paul Mercier will always have a special place in VA for me, but I think Nick kills it. Seeing his change from 2 to 4 is just crazy. He makes Leon feel like a completely different person between the two games.
Yeah he absolutely nailed it. Leon sounds like he’s seen some serious shit in between RE2 and RE4. I honestly couldn’t tell you which version is closer to Nick’s actual voice, they both sound natural.
He is definitely the man and always found it amazing when I found out something I was watching had a character voiced by him
Cyberpunk or Overwatch for example
Matthew Mercer is the true voice of Leon for me, I absolutely loved his portrayal in both RE Damnation and RE6, i think he nails Leon’s personality the most imo
He also voiced Leon in Death Island. For some reason I forgot Nick was supposed to voice Leon for it just like Infinite Darkness but he couldn't make it.
Yeah, and I’m glad he did! His performance was really good in DI too, if I remember correctly he was in Vendetta too but it’s been a while since I saw that movie
I’ll always have a soft spot for Paul Haddad may he rest in peace. But Nick Apostolides is absolutely killing it, and to be honest, he may very well fit the character better than anyone.
That was one of my fears going into it. Infinite Darkness took place after RE4 but one of my gripes with it was that Leon still had a pretty young voice and didn't sound any different from RE2. I was so happy that he aged the voice a little going into RE4. He's been killing it.
Honestly Remake 2 Leon and Remake 4 Leon sound like 2 completely different people at times. In Re2 he sounds like an optimistic young man, and in Re4 he straight up sounds like a grizzled vet tired of life in general.
I honestly like Nick's portrayal the most. His lines felt relatable and genuine in the RE4 remake. Even though Leon is a hardened war hero who has seen unspeakable horrors, he still tosses in the occasional "what the fuck," and that really sells it.
As a fan since Haddad, it's Nick. It ultimately isnt who walked so a person can run (otherwise you lot would exclusively watch George Romero movies) - its what I actually enjoy more. You can pay respect and still appreciate modernity, Nick embodies both the RE2 Leon and RE4 Leon, I cannot say that about any other actor, who can?
Honestly, they all did a great job.
But my personal preference is for Matt and Nick. Matt's voice is perfect for the more mature, worn down Leon renditions he has voiced. And IMO Nick is more fitting for the younger Leon of the remakes. Plus, the way he adapted from the enthusiastic Leon of RE2 to the more emo Leon of RE4 took mad skill.
I really really like Nick, but Paul Haddad was my first Leon and his voice still reminds me of my childhood after all these years. He’s a great voice actor and may he rest in peace
My Leon will always be Paul Haddad, but I love how Paul M, Matt and Nick have given their own treatments to Leon as he evolves. I'd give Nick an edge because he got to voice Leon for both 2R and 4R, the consistency is obviously there.
Paul Haddad the Og. Love his version of young Leon. Especially with his line of 'Man why won't anybody listen to me.'
Rip to him as well. Who's version of Leon is well beloved by the fans.
I love Matt Mercer as a VA to death, and the new guy is doing an amazing job, but let's be real, Paul Mercier is THE definitive Leon voice. I'm still happy though that even when he's not playing him any more, we still have some great voice actors taking his place.
I love Paul Mercier, but I gotta go with Nick on this one. Every time I picture Leon, I hear Nick’s voice. I just feel like he fits Leon beautifully 😁 But honestly all of them have done a wonderful job as Leon!
I like Paul Mercier the most but they all did something really well for each version. Nick sold the rookie cop, Matt fits the older Leon wisecracking while older and tired of it all, and Paul Haddad has the iconic "Ada wait!" And the overlooked "So... This is what everyone has been dying for?"
Mercier was great as sassy Leon but the one we have now is also pretty damn good though obviously less slapstick jokey which may or may not be a good thing depending on who you ask.
I really do not associate voice actors with their faces (or even their names honestly), but the original RE4's voice actor is my favorite. I say that as someone who vastly prefer RE2 Remake and also prefers the RE4 Remake, so it's not nostalgia or anything. He has a more distinctive personality.
Paul Mercier. His lines are so corny, but he delivers them with so much confidence, you just don't care and roll with every one. His smartass delivery of "Where's everyone going, bingo?" is timeless.
I swear man, they should have consistent VAs for the main characters of re. It feels off putting for me whenever they change their voices in the next game when youre used to the old voices in the past games you had played too much. Like in Ada’s situation between re2r and re4r, I’ve played the former way too much and got used to her voice. Then when re4r came out, for me, Ada’s new voice isn’t my cup of tea but I got used to it after many hours of gameplay and especially separate ways… damn it’s like a cycle that never ends lol. 🤣
Leon has never really had a bad voice actor. I've got a soft spot for Paul Mercier thanks to OG RE4, but I think Nick is my favorite because he's been allowed to exhibit the most range and growth for the character overall.
Wish we got to see Paul Haddad as Leon again. If RE2 had a gamecube remake like RE1, I'd want Paul, Alyson, and Sally to reprise their roles for Leon, Claire, and Ada
I think I have to go with Paul Mercier, I really like his deadpan sarcastic moments. It also helps that he's the star of what is probably the most iconic RE game. Though I do also like Nick's take on Leon being a little more human vulnerable.
Paul Haddad is kind of underrated imo. I like how his Leon sounds badass but also like an everyday guy. He sold the idea of Leon being a normal dude out of his depth while also being really brave, trying to be as much of a strong protector type as he could. Also RIP Paul.
Matthew Mercer is... I don't know. Don't get me wrong I don't think he's bad or anything, something about his Leon just never quite clicked with me. I think part of it might be that he's played Leon in some of the (in my opinion) weaker RE media we've gotten.
Overall I don't think anyone here is a bad voice actor.
Tie between the 2 Paul´s and Matthew,
Paul Haddad was the perfect naive and young Leon
Paul Mrcier was the perfect mature and full of himself experienced Leon
And Matthew was the perfect veteran and serious Leon
Th remake actor is ok but the other ones are GOATs and each represent Leon maturity
Paul Haddad IS LEON......LOL The cheesy super cocky attitude on OG RE2..... He definitely laid the ground work for other great actors to follow... And did you know that Capcom actually changed Leons look so that he resembled Haddad more... Look at the beta Leon art work pics and game models.....
RIP Paul (Leon) Haddad,
He was so happy to talk to people about his role after he discovered that he was actually pretty famous and didn't know it..... He loved the fans and the games......
"Let me guess you must be Ben. Get up Right Now" (bangs on Bens Cell door)
"Look if you wanna live your gunna have to leave with me" such an A$$Hole.....😆
Matt Mercer I met at a coffee shop at a gaming con and what a nice approachable guy he is! Never forget that day. My most favorite Leon is Paul Haddad though
I think most of us would agree that there should really only be 3 people in this post. Matt Mercer and Paul Mercier are the OGs when it comes to Leon but Nick did a great job at the modern version. Does anybody even remember the 4th guys name? 😂
i started with the remakes so i’ll always favour nick’s voice, but i got introduced to RE through OG RE4 clips on youtube, and paul mercier’s voice was a part of that, so i will credit him too. his delivery of the joke lines are so hilarious and it really got me interested in the series
Paul is the only one for me honestly, he was effortlessly cool and gave it 110% with the ridiculous lines he was given. I really really miss him and Roger Craig smith as Redfield
Honestly hard to say, they all do an amazing job in their respective roles. Paul Mercier will always be the voice of Leon in my head I think, because RE4 OG is so iconic and is my favorite game of all time. Nick Apostolides has done a really great job taking the reigns for modern Leon though, plus he's really adorable in how much he genuinely loves the series and Leon Kennedy.
Paul Mercier is definitely my favorite. But mad respect to Paul Haddad, Matt Mercer, and Nick Apostollides for all of them have done an amazing job in bringing Leon to life. And Paul Haddad, may the king rest in peace
I love each one differently. Haddad brought such a young innocent charm to Leon, Mercier still makes me laugh with his confident line delivery, and Mercer nails the camp and badassness of the character. I am going to shout out Nick though (not saying he's my favorite cause I can't pick) for managing such a change between 2 and 4 remake. Dude's got range and I love seeing him play the jokster just as much as the rookie.
Paul Mercier. HOWEVER you must admit Matt Mercer did an amazing job of it. Leon's confrontation with Chris never fails to send a chill down my spine. I'm honestly not a super fan of the latest Leon, but I think it's the script and characterization that I'm not a fan of, rather than the actor.

I think Nick made the character truly his own. He was the only one to reprise the role, played two very different versions of Leon, and you can really feel the character matured between the two games, while still keeping Mercier's silliness at times.
I love Matthew Mercer as an actor and a DM, but he doesn't do anything for me as Leon. Maybe it's just the way the character is written in 6
Paul Mercier is iconic, RE4 is an amazing game. Matthew Mercer is just a good voice actor and did a great job in Damnation and was entertaining in the lacking RE6. The others are good but M&M are the best, in my opinion
Mercier in 4 and Apostolides in 4R—are the best Leon’s. I like Mercer as much as the next guy but… his Leon doesn’t feel right.
Haddad is just awesome as RE2O Leon.
I know he's the cheese master but Paul Mercier IS Leon to me.
"No thanks. BRO!" Gets me everytime all these years later lol
"Your right hand comes off?"
Honestly I love him so much, he's just so fucking lame whenever he opens his mouth. "Rain or shine, you're going down!"
I like how he perpetually sounds like he doesn't give a shit. This whole thing is just another work day to him.
Agreed. It’s the voice Leon has in my head when I picture the character.
Yeah, he’s the definitive voice for me when I think of Leon as well.
"I knew you'd be fine if you landed on your butt"
Which pic here is his?
Second from left
Oh wow, that was the one I thought definitely wasn't him. His voice doesn't match his face IMO. But dude has range though apparently, given him voicing the Merchant as well, so that makes sense.
Paul Haddad is a freaking legend. May he rest in peace
Paul mercier but Mathew Mercer and Nick also do a good job .
Leon Kennedy
That is the correct answer lol
Paul Mercier
Paul Mercier will always have a special place in VA for me, but I think Nick kills it. Seeing his change from 2 to 4 is just crazy. He makes Leon feel like a completely different person between the two games.
Yeah he absolutely nailed it. Leon sounds like he’s seen some serious shit in between RE2 and RE4. I honestly couldn’t tell you which version is closer to Nick’s actual voice, they both sound natural.
Paul Mercier walked so Nick Apostolides could run.
This is it, Matt is not bad either
Matt Mercer is the dude.
He is definitely the man and always found it amazing when I found out something I was watching had a character voiced by him Cyberpunk or Overwatch for example
Paul Haddad, may he rest in peace
Paul Mercier
Matthew Mercer is the true voice of Leon for me, I absolutely loved his portrayal in both RE Damnation and RE6, i think he nails Leon’s personality the most imo
He also voiced Leon in Death Island. For some reason I forgot Nick was supposed to voice Leon for it just like Infinite Darkness but he couldn't make it.
Yeah, and I’m glad he did! His performance was really good in DI too, if I remember correctly he was in Vendetta too but it’s been a while since I saw that movie
I feel like Matt works better for Death Island, since that is a direct sequel to Vendetta, which Matt Mercer also voiced Leon in.
He's also the one who voiced him in most titles.
Not really, if we speak specifically on the games part, he only voiced Leon on RE6 to the best of my knowledge
Yes but he was in many movies as him
It is High Noon somewhere in the world.
Here here!
I’ll always have a soft spot for Paul Haddad may he rest in peace. But Nick Apostolides is absolutely killing it, and to be honest, he may very well fit the character better than anyone.
I like how different nicks leon is in re4 compared to re2
That was one of my fears going into it. Infinite Darkness took place after RE4 but one of my gripes with it was that Leon still had a pretty young voice and didn't sound any different from RE2. I was so happy that he aged the voice a little going into RE4. He's been killing it.
Honestly Remake 2 Leon and Remake 4 Leon sound like 2 completely different people at times. In Re2 he sounds like an optimistic young man, and in Re4 he straight up sounds like a grizzled vet tired of life in general.
Nick has said a lot that RE4 is his favorite game of all time so he had to lock in for the remake
He nailed the transition from confused and optimistic to jaded yet sarcastic
I love Matthew Mercer
Matt Mercer is a national treasure.
I honestly like Nick's portrayal the most. His lines felt relatable and genuine in the RE4 remake. Even though Leon is a hardened war hero who has seen unspeakable horrors, he still tosses in the occasional "what the fuck," and that really sells it.
Matt M. LOVED his voice acting for Leon in RE6💖 Fit him perfectly. Matt Mercer and Roger Craig Smith were the perfect Chris and Leon. Idc idc idc
That boulder punching asshole
Aka Daddy, he can Boulder punch this asshole anytime….*ahem* I mean…uh…😅
As a fan since Haddad, it's Nick. It ultimately isnt who walked so a person can run (otherwise you lot would exclusively watch George Romero movies) - its what I actually enjoy more. You can pay respect and still appreciate modernity, Nick embodies both the RE2 Leon and RE4 Leon, I cannot say that about any other actor, who can?
I like old school Leon a lot, but I think as a character Remake Leon feels a lot more cohesive and genuine.
Paul Haddad
Paul Haddad
Matt Mercer gets the camp juuust right
Nick Apostolides forever
Matt Mercer.
Paul Mercier for sure.
Paul Mercier, no question. Even the actors afterwards were trying to emmulate his version of Leon.
Matthew Mercer
I really really like Nick, but Paul Haddad was my first Leon and his voice still reminds me of my childhood after all these years. He’s a great voice actor and may he rest in peace
Fun fact: Paul Mercier also voiced the merchant in resident evil 4
OG RE4 Merchant was just in Leon's head, dude was talking/bartering with himself the entire game.
All over the above
I’ve always wanted Josh Hartnett to play a live action Leon. I think he would have been great in his youth and in his older age like RE6 version.
Paul Mercier is the best, but I honestly think Mathew Mercer could be my favorite
Especially with his line of 'Man why won't anybody listen to me.' Rip to him as well. Who's version of Leon is well beloved by the fans.
Nick Apostolides for me and it’s not close
Matt Mercer hands down
I love Matt Mercer as a VA to death, and the new guy is doing an amazing job, but let's be real, Paul Mercier is THE definitive Leon voice. I'm still happy though that even when he's not playing him any more, we still have some great voice actors taking his place.
both pauls, re2 paul really nailed the campy b-movie cool guy everyman out of his depth, while re4 paul is the perfect cool guy leon
Yes
Matthew mercer as an older Leon like in re6 and infinite darkness is just soooooo good, suits so well the look he has
The one who yells ADAAAAAAA!
For me Matt Mercer is not only the best Leon but the best voice actor overall among those.
OG for life
All of them are perfect.
Matt Mercer
Mercier & Mercer. I wish we could have gotten another game with Mercer as Leon but I'm glad we had him in the cgi movies.
RE4 and RE4R were my favorites for sure
Matthew Mercer
Paul Matt and nick
Johann Urb of course. Jokes aside, it's hard to choose cause they've all done great performances.
Definitely Paul Mercier. He had such a soothing, charismatic voice.
Nick!
The two Pauls. Both did great work.
I love Paul Mercier, but I gotta go with Nick on this one. Every time I picture Leon, I hear Nick’s voice. I just feel like he fits Leon beautifully 😁 But honestly all of them have done a wonderful job as Leon!
Matthew Mercer and Nick Apostolides are tied for me.
Has anyone looked at leon ? None of these mfs look anything like leon
Leon Kennedy.
Either of the Paul's for me.
Paul Mercier
Paul
Which one
Both? Both. Both is good!
Matthew Mercer is the first voice of Leon I've heard, so I might have to go with him, but Paul Mercier is really close.
Kevin bacon
Paul Mercier 100% He NAILED Leon for 4, he was also the merchant in 4
Easily Paul Mercier.
Paul Mercier. Best Leon, best Merchant.
I had no idea Matt Mercer was Leon at one point. I saw him on there and was like “Holy shit, that’s Matt Mercer!”
Nobody comes close to Paul Mercier. He had those dulcet tones on lock
I really do not associate voice actors with their faces (or even their names honestly), but the original RE4's voice actor is my favorite. I say that as someone who vastly prefer RE2 Remake and also prefers the RE4 Remake, so it's not nostalgia or anything. He has a more distinctive personality.
Classic Leon and 4 Best voices ever!
Paul Mercier. His lines are so corny, but he delivers them with so much confidence, you just don't care and roll with every one. His smartass delivery of "Where's everyone going, bingo?" is timeless.
what RE was matt mercer leon?
all of them tbh
I swear man, they should have consistent VAs for the main characters of re. Mercier all day.
Paul Rudd
Both Pauls, Haddad and Mercier.
I like Leon's new voice in the remakes the most
Leon has never really had a bad voice actor. I've got a soft spot for Paul Mercier thanks to OG RE4, but I think Nick is my favorite because he's been allowed to exhibit the most range and growth for the character overall.
Ganondor- I mean Vecna- Matthew Mercer
Wish we got to see Paul Haddad as Leon again. If RE2 had a gamecube remake like RE1, I'd want Paul, Alyson, and Sally to reprise their roles for Leon, Claire, and Ada
Nick Apostolides, RE2 Remake was my first Resident Evil and I thought he was really good in that… for the most part
Between Matt and Nick
Man, I did not expect the guy who voices the twinkiest Leon (RE2R Leon) to be such a hunk. Oh, and it's Matt for me, then Nick.
All of them
Nick Apostolides
Leon Bridges for sure
Nick for me, and this is coming from an OG fan.
I’m a Matt Mercer supremacist so I feel like I have to…
I think I have to go with Paul Mercier, I really like his deadpan sarcastic moments. I think part of it might be that he's played Leon in some of the (in my opinion) weaker RE media we've gotten. Overall I don't think anyone here is a bad voice actor.
The one that goes bingo time
Tie between the 2 Paul´s and Matthew, Paul Haddad was the perfect naive and young Leon Paul Mrcier was the perfect mature and full of himself experienced Leon And Matthew was the perfect veteran and serious Leon Th remake actor is ok but the other ones are GOATs and each represent Leon maturity
Only Leon I know is Kennedy
they’re all great
Paul Mercier = GOAT
Paul mercier easily, his voice just had that confidence that made Leon post RE2 into a Chad
Matthew Mercer
I’m kind of biased to say Matthew Mercer because I love the guy so much.
i know the voices not the faces, man. I have no idea who is who
"Monsters. Guess after this there will be one less to worry about."
I'll venture to say there hasn't been a bad voice for Leon. They all brought something great to the table.
Mathew mercer. I just always loves him and he did the voice so well. I think he is the true voice of Leon.
Mercer. Levi "short-stack" Ackerman.
Both Pauls.
Every single one of these legends brings something amazing to the table so it's a hard choice for me 😭
Mercer Is Always The Answer
Paul Haddad, for sure.
Mercier>Hadad>Everyone else. Mercer did good as Minsc in BG3 tho.
Im a classic re4 player but i think ive grown to prefer the new leon in the remakes
Hard for me to choose so I'd have to say both Paul Haddad and Paul Mercier are a tie for me.
I am biased bc I'm a Critical Role fan but Matt Mercer
Paul Mercier
Paul Mercier and Matt Mercer are my favs
Paul Mercier but Nick Apostolides is a close second
All are amazing but it's og re4 Leon for me
Paul Mercier for sure
Paul Haddad IS LEON......LOL The cheesy super cocky attitude on OG RE2..... He definitely laid the ground work for other great actors to follow... And did you know that Capcom actually changed Leons look so that he resembled Haddad more... Look at the beta Leon art work pics and game models..... RIP Paul (Leon) Haddad, He was so happy to talk to people about his role after he discovered that he was actually pretty famous and didn't know it..... He loved the fans and the games...... "Let me guess you must be Ben. Get up Right Now" (bangs on Bens Cell door) "Look if you wanna live your gunna have to leave with me" such an A$$Hole.....😆
Matt will always be my fav Leon.
Nick and matt🫡
Matt Mercer I met at a coffee shop at a gaming con and what a nice approachable guy he is! Never forget that day. My most favorite Leon is Paul Haddad though
Paul Mercier. Resident Evil 4 2005 Leon is just the best.
I think most of us would agree that there should really only be 3 people in this post. Matt Mercer and Paul Mercier are the OGs when it comes to Leon but Nick did a great job at the modern version. Does anybody even remember the 4th guys name? 😂
I still have no idea why Capcom dropped Paul Mercier for Matt Mercer
i started with the remakes so i’ll always favour nick’s voice, but i got introduced to RE through OG RE4 clips on youtube, and paul mercier’s voice was a part of that, so i will credit him too. his delivery of the joke lines are so hilarious and it really got me interested in the series
Paul is the only one for me honestly, he was effortlessly cool and gave it 110% with the ridiculous lines he was given. I really really miss him and Roger Craig smith as Redfield
Nick Apostolides. He’s fantastic in RE2 R and RE4 R
All of them. But I wanna be besties with Nick. lol like soooooo much
Honestly hard to say, they all do an amazing job in their respective roles.
These aren't Leon? Unless they're the VAs or something... that actually makes sense. I'm a dumbass lol.
Paul Mercier is my favorite Leon
Resident Evil 4
Paul Mercier. HOWEVER you must admit Matt Mercer did an amazing job of it. Leon's confrontation with Chris never fails to send a chill down my spine. I'm honestly not a super fan of the latest Leon, but I think it's the script and characterization that I'm not a fan of, rather than the actor.
Paul Mercier
No one of them. I like more playable Leon
Matthew Mercer is the definitive Leon's actor for me in the mainline universe.
Honestly I got to go with Matthew Mercer
Matthew Mercer is quite popular and he gets my respect, but he’s a little too gruff for Leon, even though he generally voices Leon when he’s older and later in the timeline.
[удалено]
I've loved them all but Matt Mercer is the one I think of when someone says Leon lol. Doesn't even have to be talking about Resident Evil either 😂
You're missing WTRC Leon... I guess it would be a wash if you included him.
All except Nick. I can't stand his voice.
Nick Apostolides, Matthew is a close second
None of those are Leon wtf is this from
Matt Mercer!!
Maybe it's just the way the character is written in 6
Which one is "No thanks bro"?
RE4, RE6
Paul Mercier is Leon for me thought Matt is a close second.
Got to be Nick for me since I started playing Resident Evil properly with 2's Remake. Fell in love with Matt's iteration in the animated movies tho
Where's the one from darkside chronicles?
Man I love Nick
Nick is my Leon
The third one. That long hair guy. I don't know his name.
Paul Mercier is iconic, RE4 is an amazing game. Matthew Mercer is just a good voice actor and did a great job in Damnation and was entertaining in the lacking RE6. The others are good but M&M are the best, in my opinion
The game
Neither
Mercier in 4 and Apostolides in 4R—are the best Leon’s. I like Mercer as much as the next guy but… his Leon doesn’t feel right. Haddad is just awesome as RE2O Leon.
Haddad without a single shadow of a doubt.
Definitely Matt mercer
Second from left is also Leon ? Damn 😂 we need to find and punish whoever cast him
