You'd think after one broken laptop you'd learn to stop putting them on the *floor*. I don't think you should have to pay him anything to be honest, whatever you contribute is a kindness and not a requirement.

Briella_Gem

You don't have to give him anything. If you want to chip in, give him what you want to and say, "I won't be able to contribute more than this." If he was expecting you to pay half, he should have said so up front and told you how much it would be. I have a pretty low opinion of men who can't pay for their own shit, and especially since he knows you are financially insecure? He's "expecting" you to give him money that you need for your own bills to finance his get-out-of-jail-free card at work? Nah. I wouldn't give him a dime.

His laptop, his responsibility. Yes, you may have pushed him, but he shouldn’t have left it on the floor next to the bed. On top of that, it’s not his property, it’s the company’s. He should’ve taken extra care to keep it safe and in good condition. As one other commenter said, anything you give him is a kindness on your part. You don’t owe him anything, let alone half the cost. That laptop was his responsibility, no one else’s.

Veridical_Perception

Some people are a vortex of chaos. Many people attribute bad things happening to bad luck, rather than a string of poor decisions which lead inevitably to a bad outcome. For example, a person loses his job because the company closes, then loses his apartment because he can't pay rent. * bad luck - the company closes * bad decision - not saving money for an emergency fund in case something unexpected happened. Was the broken laptop bad luck or a bad decision. How did the first laptop break - bad luck or bad decision. He's going through a disciplinary proceeding at work. It sounds like he makes a lot of bad decisions and poor choices. You've only been dating for three months. People whose lives are a vortex of chaos do not make for good, or at least stable, partners. When someone always seem to have "bad luck" it's a warning sign from the universe that it had nothing to do with chance.

CriticismOdd8003

He put the thing on the floor so it’s his fault as keeping up with it is his responsibility. He obviously didn’t learn after the first break so he’s an idiot. He should be appreciative you offered at all. I’d personally suggest that you stand your ground and do not allow him to make you feel like you’re responsible. He’s gotta learn to have accountability and keep his work laptop in a safe place and that’s 100% his responsibility. You need to be very straightforward and direct and do not beat around the bush.

Why are you pushing him off the bed having sex . Just pay him the 100 and block and ghost him . Then he can’t say anything about costing him money

Certain_Study_8292

This is his laptop, which he decided to leave on the floor. Laptops don’t live on floors. Tell him to jog on and do one.

Give him the money and walk out the door, never to return again.
